I had no bridesmaids either, and it was the best decision ever. I opted to have my friends participate in other ways. One read a poem, another gave a toast and another entertained our guests (she is a comedian) during the reception.

I don't want a wedding party either. Two weddings I have been in have been so much fun, one, I would not want to do over again. I just want a beautiful, blessed, and simple day to celebrate this special day between GOD, my family, my friends, and my future husband.

I had a hard time finding better reasons than “I just want me and my future husband up at the altar,” but that was just it. It was meant that I stumbled across this video. I’m vision boarding and for some reason the idea of this keeps playing in my head. In the past I did not have a friendship circle. My experience as a child consisted of me having “friends” a part of celebrations that they honestly did not want to be involved with. There was always one jealous friend or one friend who didn’t share in my interest or the friend who didn’t want to spend money or the friend I acknowledged as a “friend” who really wasn’t. I’m older now and my philosophy is very clear that this needs to be TOTALLY and I mean TOTALLY about me and my partner when that time comes. I do have a small group of women I’m friends with however my ideas remain. Sometimes when I’m playing around with my mother she makes it sound like the end of the world that I don’t want this pressure on my big day or even the days leading up to it. I want friends involved without labeling anyone. Also on a superficial level the picture situation scares me because some people I’m close with are very edgy.

My wedding is coming up shortly and I feel the same! Although we do have a maid of honor and best man, I wanted that day to be about us. And I have had several friends help me through the planning.

You hit the nail right on the head. I went back and forth for a while between deciding to have bridesmaids or none. I am just having my sister as my MOH, a couple of my girlfriends were really thrown off...but at the end of the day, the real reason I’m not having maids is the same as yours, I just want my future husband and I up there!

i'm doing the same thing you're doing, no bridal party for us and its a more intimate thing for him and I as well and besides we picked a high end venue which still worked out cheaper b/c we have under 50 guest

I had 16 in my line and boy was that too much work. I would not to that again! I totally see why you decided to not have a wedding party. Being alone and relaxed just sounds awesome!!!

16?! wow, Im always amazed at those wedding shows like Four Weddings that show a ton of people for their bridal party. I think its amazing but it wasn't something I wanted for me. 😕

I didn't have bridesmaids either. My cousin, who was also my makeup artist, helped me get dressed. But we had an intimate wedding, so I'm not sure that counts. Haha!

Nice insightful personal information about non traditional weddings. You made me understand why my daughter doesn’t want bridesmaids. However her fiancé is having 7 brothers standing beside him. Their wives and girlfriends will be their dance partners. My daughter will have her brother, my son, standing with her. I will definitely be watching more vids. TYFS hello from Michigan

I hated being a bridesmaid, mostly because I live over 3,000 miles away from my home state, where all of my friends are. It was expensive to travel and try to work with other bridesmaids in different time zones was difficult. I didn't want to put my friends through it.

I wouldnt want bridesmaids either. maybe 1 one or 2 the most. Because i care about their finances and want them not to stress since itll be my big day. Im not gonna be those brides who want everything their way. its a compromise. Last experience I had, I was basically invited to be bridesmaid bc I was dating her brother at the time. It was utter bs. Wasnt even invited in events. missed out on most of the shopping. stressed me out. From this experience, Im planning a better wedding. How it should really be done.

I'm starting to plan my wedding and both my fiance and I don't want to have a wedding party. We'd like to have our ceremony in a church but our moms think it'll be strange to have a ceremony in a big church and no wedding party. I saw your wedding video and curious if your guest thought it odd that it was just your fiance then you walking down the aisle? I basically want to do what you did (big-looking church and just us walking down) but want to keep our moms happy.

Hi Jennifer. Congrats!! We actually had my family and hubby's family walk down before us. So siblings and parents. I wouldn't think it's weird if you ended up just walking down though! Your guests wouldn't either! So do whatever you guys chose.😀
