I dropped out of computer programming 22 years ago, halfway through the program. It's funny and sad watching this video, it's like nothing has changed since then. Three people died in my course: 2 were stress related heart attacks and one was "mysterious circumstances" ( I'm assumed suicide ).

this vid made me realize im not alone in these thoughts and burn-out. I love coding but hate all of the people and social politics that prevent me from coding in my ideal way. I think I could handle the stress of framework hell better if I did not have to be blessed with two 1 hour long stand-up meetings at the start and end of each day. the culture and people burn me out way more than the actual work. coding culture seems to just punish coders who just want to get the job done.

Don’t go into software development. Its sht. To do the most little thing you need to spend hours to make it and then fight your programming language to make it work. Go into designing applications instead. I know, I went into this field and now I’m 25 and have no social life, no friends, no girlfriend, no life. I can’t wait to get out of it.

I was going through the same phase. I took a break for 6 months and work hard to get into the company I wanted to. Due to hard luck and missing out some important concepts I didn't get hired in any of the one. At last we want pizza and spend time watching web series. So I managed to get job in a good company without aiming way too high. Now I have pizza, can spend time watching funny videos and prepare myself for future interviews. Best of luck. Don't loose hope.

The speed of the industry. Man… I 100% agree with you. Is not enough to know how to code with Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL or MySql, and to know html, css, jquery, JavaScript and deploying to Heroku. This industry also requires from me to know React.js, Angular, Vue.js, the stupid Docker, the whole fricking AWS complicated shit and a lot of extra garbage,.. just to be a peasant, a dispensable junior developer. I’m sooo sick of coding. I have to learn shit 24/7, almost literally. I’m 41 years old and I’m divorced, unemployed and learning Flutter Development in Udemy. I only have 2 years of working experience here in USA and nobody wants to hire me, because they either notice I’m Republican or because they demand from me to know a lot of complicated theory and to do complicated algorithm BS without googling it, which is not how the real programming works anyway, or because there’s always someone else with more experience, a freaking genius, or maybe some Babu or Kumar that wants to work for peanuts. So… Please shoot me!!! I think I’m gonna change entirely of industry. Maybe I will take a short pharmaceutical technology course. I’m sick of feeling helpless, stressed and studying useless shit that will be outdated in three months,… all the time. Please STOOOOP!!!

I think you're also a really funny guy and if you decided to change the channels content to more of a comedy thing on the side than a tech/tutorial channel you could easily do that and be seen as that, yeah thats where all of your audience is from but I think speaking for myself and probably others I subscribed cause I thought you were entertaining as a person and I eventually stopped grinding so much so when theres a tutorial type video I'm less inclined to click on it unless I'm in the learning mode

Oh man, recruiters... I've been looking for a job since the end of February, lost my last one when the pandemic started. While I know how to code, it's not what I do. I work in the semiconductor industry, usually in Process Engineering or Equipment Engineering. Last week, I had an hour phone interview with a recruiter, we go over my 10 years of experience, we talk about everything that I've done. We go over all the tools I have work on...HAST Chambers, Plasma Etchers, Chemical Vapor Deposition tools, Ion Implanters, Reactors, etc. All of the sudden the guy stops and said "well, I think we have a problem, this job requires you to be proficient with calipers and have experience in conveyor belts, and in your resume doesn't say that you know how to use that tool or work on that equipment. I facepalm so hard. I told the guy that I didn't put stuff like in my resume, because it's a given...it would be the equivalent to me clarifying that I know how to read and write. Took me another hour to convinced him to schedule a meeting with the engineering manager at the company. Not the first time something like this happens.
