Thank you for this story. I lost my hair to chemo treatments for breast cancer 3 years ago. Although it has grown back, I'm still having a hard time. I've told myself it was because of vanity. Your story resonated with me. I believe now I can recognize that I'm mourning the loss of my memories and will be able to move past this. Thank you for posting such a personal story.

I used to have hair that went down to my knees and I cut it all off for charity to shoulder length (it was a sponsored hair cut for Breast Cancer research and the hair made a wig for children going through chemo therapy). A few years later I became anorexic and my hair stopped growing: it would fall out in clumps and just wouldn't grow. Now I'm fully recovered and its growing again - it now half way down my back and I'm never cutting it again; for me it symbolises my recovery and my veganism and being at peace with myself and healthy. And because I've donated 20 inches in the past I'm letting her stay this time (:

Hair holds energy. So if you have gone through a particularly negative time in your life, for example a breakup or an awful job, and now you are on to better things it could be wise to cut your hair and cut that negative weight associated with an awful time out of your life. But to each their own... You hair looks lovely but it would drive me crazy to have it down all the time, as long hair gets caught, stuck or attached to every and anything.
@behabtwa7 жыл бұрын
Quirky1128 even the negative parts of my life are part of my story. i once shaved my head because i wanted to part from my previous life decisions. didnt change a thing. now that i start excepting the past and embrace it through my hair, i evolve.

Wow! My great grandma was Cherokee and never cut her hair. I've been sitting here for the last few days thinking about cutting my hair. I had long hair my whole life and never cut it because I was insecure. It was my safety blanket and I didn't feel pretty without it. I finally cut it when I turned 20 and it was so liberating. It felt so good to separate my sense self worth from the length of my hair. But that's just my story

Hair is most definitely not an extension of your nervous system. It is not composed of living cells. If it was a part of your nervous system, it would have nerves, and you would be able to distinguish between the different regions along your hair when people touch it. Why then can you not feel pain when somebody cuts your hair or pinpoint the part of the hair they are cutting?

This video is really beautiful and spiritual, it made me kinda sentimental. I've stopped using products on my hair and have grown to love the way my hair is naturally. Couple weeks ago I went to a salon to get it cut and didn't have the courage to tell the lady not to use products on my hair. Afterwards I felt horrible and hopeless. Luckily it got back to normal. This video gave me courage to keep doing what I want and not let other people's opinions affect the way I see the world. I think I might start growing my hair for real(not cutting much) since that's the way I like it the most.
@yahkobashachar32455 жыл бұрын
Cut your own. Especially if just trimming the ends. It's easy and you'll lose a lot less hair than when they cut it. Faithfully cut my hair according to their rules for years and my hair never got past my shoulders. Whenever I didn't get regular cuts it grew...quit putting chemicals on my hair and it took off in growth.

You are beautiful! And i find this video very inspiring and your realness very refreshing. I started this journey of hair growth in a vain manner, and now after finding your video and a few others based spiritually, my perspective has fully changed... I realize that women (especially) try to change themselves constantly hoping to find inner peace and fulfillment and if I suddenly had long hair, I would still be unhappy if I hadn't met myself inside. To grow ones hair for inner power and authenticity is much more beautiful and empowering than the aesthetic motivations most have. Thank you for this video!

I'm a beautician with a cosmetology degree. (This goes for anyone with hair) No matter how well you take care of your hair, yes, you more than likely have split ends, its just a natural thing all hair goes through. No, there is no cure for split ends other than cutting it. Sun, wind, brushing, constantly running your fingers through, pulling it up, wallowing on it in your sleep, these all surprisingly damage your hair. However, using organic natural products, not washing everyday, no heat, healthy diet,.. these all attribute to beautiful strong hair. While these will certainly put a hold on split ends and damaged for a while, it does not completely stop it from happening. A half inch trim every 2-4 months is what i always recommend to my clients who are hair conscious :) .. just thought i would throw my professional opinion out there :D

Kristina I love you so much, you're my #1 role model you have no idea how happy it makes me to watch your videos. You changed my life, you revolutionized my relationship with food, you taught me that food is healing. You changed the way I feel about my myself, you taught me to love myself and to be kind to myself. Watching your videos is so so liberating. You taught me that the human body can actually function and thrive under a raw vegan diet and that it doesn't need to eat anything else as we were programmed to believe growing up. Because of you I became a vegetarian and have been so for the past 8 months, and it has given me so much peace of mind, no more inner struggle of wanting to eat junk but knowing it's bad for me, there's a balance in my life now. And I hope to transition into Veganism soon! I love you!! Keep doing what you are doing you are THE BEST 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

It's a loaded question to be fair. We aren't touching our armpit hair to the trees but we do adorn our hair on our head with flowers and crowns and jewels and dress it up and and make it smell aromatic with herbs and shampoos and parfumes. We symbolize that hair, not the hair on our legs. Different purposes for different hair just like different purposes for different body parts. :)

I am a Apostolic christian, and I don't cut my hair... ever. It is past my knees and it doesn't have split ends! I don't cut my hair because in the Bible, 1 Corinthians chapter 11 talks about how a women's hair is her glory, and it is a spiritual covering over her head when she prays. There is anointing and angelic protection when a women has long uncut hair, which is why It should be uncut, not even trimmed. Long hair is such a precious thing! This world might give me a hard time about it, but I honor God and I am so blessed by Him. Honestly It is so freeing not to do every silly damaging hairstyle trend out there.

There are NO ACTUAL Native-Indians to this continent, and it is ridiculous that someone as concerned with social matters as you, failed to use the correct term associated with five million underprivileged and unrecognized individuals in this country. While SOME Natives identify with the term, which was coined through means of ignorant racism (suggesting that Indians and American Natives are the same because they are not 'white') , MOST do not. The reason the term is used by some is the same as the reason behind why some African Americans (etc) prefer to be called Black, or how they sometimes use racial slurs in close company as terms of endearment. When society repeatedly refers to you as an Indian/Redskin/Chief etc it can become hard to identify with your race outside of racial constructs. So PLEASE do not so casually use the term Native Indian because it perpetuates an idea that it is still okay in 2016 to mislabel an entire group of people because you can't be bothered to remember their ACTUAL race.

Sarah Gwin She referred to Native Americans as Native Indians. They are not Indians. When the British & French first got to America and came across the Natives, they saw they were brown and so assumed they were indian. They are not and lots of Native Americans do not like being referred to as Indians because they aren't Indian. Hope this helps!

Just so you guys know, I am watching this thread and getting rid of racist/rude comments. This issue affects millions of Native people everyday, so there is NO excuse for cruelty + trolling concerning this issue! To everyone who is contributing positively to this discussion, thank you! Vegans particularly (and others) need to remain unified on the treatment of ALL living creatures, including humans :)!

Such a wonderful story. Your hair is so very beautiful. At the moment I'm trying to grow out my naturally silver hair. I have a long way to go, but I'd like to grow very long full hair much like yours. Have a nice trip!

Your hair is beautiful. I noticed that you said, "I don't really ever apply heat to my hair" but I have seen your hair very straight in your recipe videos. How do you straighten your hair? Thank you Kristina.

I had very long, virgin blond hair for most of my life. On the 1 year anniversary of my father's death (of lung cancer) I cut it to above my shoulders, and donated it to make wigs for people with cancer. So I guess you could say I cut it on a special day, even though it wasn't just a centimetre. =P I don't know if I want it to get as long as it was before though. I just got sick of the upkeep.

I only trim my hair once a year for about 10 years and I have calf length hair. I have very few split ends and I don't eat raw. Your hair quality is mostly dominated by genetics.

Interesting story on why you haven't cut your hair! I love how long Native Americans' hair is. Brandi has beautiful natural hair!! I'm going to have to check out that restaurant when/if I come back to Florida. Kristina, you should add Atlanta to your book tour. That ocean is beautiful!

Native Americans do not have the hairloss gene. Seriously, this is factual. any 100% native american male will have no chances of male pattern baldness. If you don't believe me, look it up. That's probably why the people she talks about had such 'amazing' hair

I'm a guy and I feel the same way about my hair, just a little trim here and there and letting it get long feels so much better and more natural.

Good for your Kristina! And actually what you said makes perfect sense. If you really think about it, your hair is an extension of your nervous system. There was an interesting incident recorded in history. About the time when Americans were training Natives in their own form of military combat, they had these great native warriors cut their hair, as is their standards. They found that after this was done, then men began to fall back in training. They could no longer sense incoming combatants pre-maturely, they had seemed to have lost their superior connection. Then men in despair then explained their traditions about the hair and how it carries experiences and sensitivity that they were now cut off from. It also makes sense medically, if you think about how your hair captures your experiences as it grows. If you did weed 3 months ago and the test ur hair strand, they can see what u did, and what you ate in that time, even stress levels. It is a picture or snapshot in time of who you were. This also makes sense when you think about traumatized celebs like Britney and Amanda, they were trying to disconnect themselves from the world by cutting their hair, as a last ditch effort to not be so painfully connected to their surroundings. Even further, this is why people get hair cuts after they get over a bad relationship. You feel that urge to just shed away the past and be someone else, and sometimes that is an important and empowering transformation :)

Always start my days watching you on snapchat, you seriously inspire me. I've been sick with colitis for months now but just recently, I've started to be able to get out a bit more, getting my yoga practice back on track and even went for a short run yesterday. I swear seeing you running (whatever the weather) is a motivational trigger for me. I don't cut my hair often either, and I use coconut oil on the ends to keep them in check. Thanks as always, for being as happy as me in a world trying to crush our sunshine. ✌🏼️

I've noticed Americans tend to elongate a. In the UK where I live there's a regional difference. In the North, where I live, the pronunciation is a brief a, whereas the South tend to say Ar, like bath or barth. It amuses me.

kristina, i respect you so much with this video. you handled the topic of being inspired by native americans but yet did not misappropriate their culture. navajos believe that your hair is your knowledge and cutting it is inhibits that. im navajo and i appreciate this video because you did well with the topic with out discrediting the native american people but you embraced them with an inspiration! love this video!

when I was young, I would let my hair grow out to middle of my back then get it chopped off. I would hate my hair cut to the point if wantung to grow it out again. Then I would get it chopped off again. It became a cycle for many, many years during my dysfunctional & emotionally unhealthy life. Then one day I prayed for stability in my life. I have kept my hair long for 16 years now. I dont get it chopped off anymore. I did have it cut one time in the 16 years to shoulder length but no regrets. Keeping my hair long represents stability to me.

what's even more rewarding is educating them about healthy cures so they don't have to lose their hair. my father cured his cancer naturally and since sharing his story, 4 others I've met have cured themselves of cancer naturally. no chemotherapy or radiation. no hair loss.

+Rebecca Spratling That's fantastic! No one should have to go through chemotherapy, radiation, or hair loss. I don't know how that's ignorant - you are providing 4 amazing examples. Healing naturally may not work for everyone, but when you can you generally don't have to go through as much and you end up much healthier which is great!
