As an Indian (Punjab), I completely agree. I remember growing up in India for a short time in my life, I was born there but raised in America. We used to do SO many community, family things, EVERYTHING revolves around family, friends, strangers, community. If there was a newborn at someone’s house nearby, you would go to their house, unannounced, bring food, gifts, etc to congratulate the family, even if you never met them before. That was just normal. You could go to anyone’s wedding, they could come to yours, same with funerals, birthday celebrations etc. We didn’t have a “divide” and formal invitations for these things, we just shared in the joy. ❤❤❤ I miss India, my homeland, my soul land.
