I was in the Twelve Tribes cult for 8 years! I learned so much while I was there, and even more since I've been out! This video is about the specific things that drew me into being a member. Things don't always end up as they appear!
On a side note...
Here is a link to my most favorite brand of shoes, XERO. They are responsibility made, feel super comfy, and the sole is very flexible. They are in the realm of barefoot shoes. I have several pairs and pretty much don't wear anything else. Check em out!

Another thing I wanted to introduce you to is Juice Plus. Me and my kiddos have been taking it for a few years now and I love how many fruits and veggies (and other nutritious foods) are packed in them. I believe it's a great quality product that gives me much more confidence about our diets.
Here are a couple of videos...

Me too, my brother joined back in 2017 and I was very close to joining. Even recently. The way they live, their sustainability, the sovereignty is so on point and the way they farm is the best I’ve seen anywhere. Their network too.. every time I go to visit him it gets harder to leave. But recently I went with my child who just turned 1 and it was even more hard to leave because of how the women lived and how much support the mothers would get from each other, the simplicity of life and the amount of love that everyone poured out. Everything was attractive to me but there are still too many things that I don’t agree with that I never will agree with that are essential to living there.. tonight I was looking up so many videos people made about their abuse and these kinds of videos where people left and shared their testimony and I’m convinced that I want to get my brother out of there and come live with me, I did use to want to get him out but then I believed the purity of these people. Now I want to do everything I can to show him that the world is okay and he is safe with me..

Hey, my name is Shelby. My sister Mary and I joined in Manitou in the late fall of 2010 and our mom and two little sisters followed shortly after. We did not stay too long but I definitely remember you! It's so nice to hear someone else talk about things that are so relatable. It's been 11 years and I still think about a lot of it pretty consistently but it's a difficult topic because not many others understand. I'm so glad to see you are doing well!

You had a lot to recover from after eight years. I wish you and your family all the best. Ok.. I’m not having flashback trips it’s just this crazy camera effects, right? My story with 12 tribes was brief, but here I am 30+ years later.. curious how the tribe has fared through their journey together. 1993, Grateful Dead, fall tour, old Boston Garden. 12 tribes bus parked on the corner in the heart of it all… Invited onto the bus. Energy was welcoming. Food was organic and bountiful. People were all so nice, healthy, loving, and welcoming. I almost accepted the offer to go back to a tribe community in Connecticut for an upcoming wedding. Had no idea I skirted fate that evening. Choose you own adventure. I’m very grateful for what you have shared here today sister. No matter the cost of mind manipulation of self, no one has permission to take our soul. Your are courageous and beautiful JillyBean. blessings 🙏

It's good you put this information out here for people to see what they are getting into. I think a lot of people have the experience early in life about where they fit in or are maybe disconnected from family. Cults feed on this and I'm glad I never came across one at that age or I might have joined. I'm pretty sure my brother was trying to steer me into this cult. He met them at a concert and use to visit one of their compounds. He'd say, you gotta check it out and in marriages the man always makes the decisions. He tried to join once after all else had failed in life and they wouldn't take him because he wanted to have his rules, not their's, because he was a narcissist. If he was willing to follow directions, sign over his SSD check and work 12 hours a day at the Yellow Deli they probably would've have taken him but he wouldn't because, he was a narcissist. He wanted join and be mid level cult management and of course that wasn't going to happen. At the time it didn't occur to me that he was trying to get me in. He invited me to a concert where they had there bus and ship. After the show he insisted I go look at them I was tired and after a few minutes my friend grabbed my arm and said, let's go. I'm grateful for that. Then insisted several times I visit their compound 4 hours away. I never went and knew nothing about the 12 tribes until a few years later when finally I looked them up and found out they were a cult. I was in my 40's at the time and my narcissist ahole brother was trying to get me to quit my job and go in a cult. I didn't figure out he was a narcissist until after all this had occurred. Such a scumbag, but that's what narcissist are. So again thank you for informing people of your story and to be very careful because things don't always as they appear and the price to be paid to join is too high, your soverinty I'm glad you got out.
@jillybeenz8699
@jillybeenz8699 2 жыл бұрын
Phew! Seems like you escaped meeting them many times! It's good to be educated before spending time with them. Alas, just spending time with them won't make you a member if you have your guard up and can see through their tactics. They definitely like people to be "surrendered" or vulnerable when they join. Glad you didn't get sucked in, thanks for the reply ☺️
@brianwalsh1401
@brianwalsh1401 2 жыл бұрын
@@jillybeenz8699 Yes, thank you for your reply. The thing is I'm a codependent and now I'm in recovery. At the time I wasn't and I was very susceptible to my brother, just like when I was a kid. I was vulnerable and had no idea who 12 tribes were. I was so pissed when I figured out they were a cult and my ahole brother was trying to get me in. Those dynamics don't change until you work on your issues. I always felt that if I had come across a slick cult person that I would've gotten sucked in. I had weak boundaries and low self esteem which is why I ended up with a covert narcissist. Narcissists and sociopaths usually run cults. I was in a cult of one with my ex. I am lucky to have dodged the 12 tribe bullet. My brother was such an ahole but so are all narcissists. Funny story. My brother actually flew out to San Diego because he wanted to be in a sunny climate 12 tribes "community". I knew he was a narcissist by this time and I told my younger brother that they weren't going to take him. Sure enough they didn't. The only thing he would say was they couldn't come to a meeting of the minds. They didn't want him because he was like 60 at the time and wasn't going to be compliant or of any value to them. Like I said in my previous post if he had given them his SSD check every month, worked for 12 hours a day and was compliant maybe they would've. The narcissist wanted to be mid level management so they told him to get lost. He also had to have surgery to remove a toe because of his out of control diabetes while he was out there. He died 2 years later from his uncontrolled diabetes. God love him but he caused a lot of damage in the world from having been damaged by my parents. He was brutal to me at times growing up. I was his minion. I finally started working on my issues and was able to finally figure out narcissistic pd and my brother and ex wife. Do you think there were narcissists running the 12 tribes when you were in because getting people under control is one of the narcissists usual m.o. Keep up the good work Jilly Beenz.

@@jillybeenz8699 I was in KC, doing 10 hours a day at a warehouse job with a bunch of other single brothers. We got to visit Warsaw every other weekend for breaking of bread, but otherwise it was just a bunch of us stinking up a basement, while a couple of married couples lived upstairs. After a sabbath of being told how grateful I should be to just be saved I realized it was all fake and just took a walk and didn't look back. I was pretty messed up for long time after, because I really believed at first. At the end I finally accepted they were just using me for free labor and the whole thing was just a facade. Hello! yes, yes, and yes. And had kids! I made very tight friendships for sure. We lived around the same people for 8 years! They are definitely doing their best to be strict to the Hebrew teachings! But in my experience the elders perception of what that is came before real care and love for people. From the outside it really looks like everything is put together real well, but inside (after years) things become very raw and doesn't always unite with what was previously presented. Be careful! Giving up everything is a HUGE commitment. It causes damage to relationships and to your own self. All the best!!

I was with them for a while about 16 years ago in California. It was cool at first but you certainly can’t think for yourself anymore. They had a big vision about the 12 Tribes being established and about the 144,000 male virgins and every 7 years there would be a year of jubilee which would eventually culminate at the end of the age but that never or hasn’t began.

I visited one in Chilliwack, British Columbia (Canada) back in fall 2009. I was there a few weeks, I think. You're right! It's a very attractive lifestyle. The communal life and their self sufficiency was awesome. I loved learning how to milk goats and growing organic produce in the Greenhouse. They even had a wood-heated hot tub that was so nice in the middle of November! Working in the cafe was fun too... The teachings about child rearing and about black people (that slavery was a good thing!) were ultimately what caused me to rethink my stay and say goodbye. But I would still go back to visit if I had the chance.

Yes!! The lifestyle is definitely what attracted me. Community and cooperation is wonderful! But alas, the doctrine is harsh and condemning (in my perspective). There definitely are a good few things going on there, but for me it's far from worth the price of giving up my #freedom of choice. All the best! Thanks for your comment 👍!

I have been studying twelve tribes since they have been mentioned in the Colorado fire. I was not familiar with them. I'm positive I would have been sucked in if I had met them while in college. I'm learning that people sell their houses and cars and give all their money to the tribe. How did you "get in"? Did you have student loan or credit card debt?
@jillybeenz8699
@jillybeenz8699 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's all in. Debt, assets, decisions, relationships, your essence and beliefs and pretty much everything else is given up when joined. I got in because I was convinced it was the next part of my life's journey. Giving up everything is the only way in. 😬 I had little to give, a car and a couple thousand dollars, as well as debt that was never taken care of. I left with nothing except debt and a lot of beliefs that i have been sifting through to regain my independence and personal power. I learned so much, but have needed to take a lot of time to regain my independence and self belief.

I still miss some of the people. I don't have a close relationship with my family so I was looking for a surrogate. But I think the cult pulls in people who are disconnected from real friends and family. I was baptized so I felt bad leaving because I think they finally accept you once you are baptized. Yeah. I went to one of their weddings and ate at their Deli a few times. I'm a full blown, spiritual, Christian. Know what I believe, why I believe it and live it out to the fullest. And there are a lot of things I heard them say that I agree with 💯 on. I mean, they are Christians, in a way, with alittle bit of an overly exclusionary kinda culture. "12 Tribes" you know, it's been done a few times. Black Hebrew Israelites, Jehovahs Witnesses. Theres a few groups who like to form cults around the 12 Tribes verses in the Bible. I happen to believe those verses have to do with the ACTUAL nation of Israel and the ACTUAL Jewish people who live there. But who am I to say I know what everything means? Hahaha 🤦 Anyway, crazy doctrines aside, they are really nice people, I consider them brothers and sisters in Christ. But, it's like you said, you have to give up your identity in order to join the collective. And I'm a total individualist. Politically raised Libertarian. In every respect, politically and socially speaking, the Yellow Deli is the perfect example of small scale Communist/Socialist community. Thats exactly what it is, a religious based communist community. Im way to much of an Independent, free thinking, creative individual to be able to surrender my entire identity to join a "Collective" like that. It's the whole hive mind mentality and culture you have to put on in order to join that I could never do. And, I am a bit of a leader of myself and have built good sized Christian groups and communities. But I support the individual, their gifts, abilities, thoughts, opinions and feelings and encourage them to be themselves and let that shine. When I went to the deli I saw how they totally wiped clean that was and that and it was full blown a communal, socialist, collective lifestyle and culture. And thats something I learned from the 12 Tribes about socialism as a political philosophy. It's not just an economic plan, it's a matter of giving up everything you are and believe in, in order to put on the identity of the social collective culture. So it's not just purely an economic issue.. In order to work you have to surrender your whole life and identity to the will of the social collective. And I understand that. And I could never do that. And that was, besides the doctrine, the hardest thing for me to swallow about the 12 Tribes communities. Otherwise the people are super friendly and the food is super good. And as Christians I consider them brothers and sisters with a few wonky views, but it's the Collective culture that really turns me off. I'm a little to much of a staunch, free thinking Individualist for that. But I think for the majority, they all mean well, and there isnt anything overly nefarious going on there.

Jesus is real and His Spirit lives in me. I got set free from sin and I can say He is the son of God and my personal Savior. Jesus did not call us to join communes or "tribes" as they like people to believe, but to simply deny self (sin) and follow Him. The yellow deli doctrine essentially teaches (at least this is what I've noticed from reading their pamphlets) that you have to surrender your earthly possessions to the community in order to be saved. As a Christian with a new spirit and attitude I have a desire to share my stuff and good things God has blessed me with with other people! But they twist the Bible in to saying things about salvation that are heretical. Also, they shame people who say Jesus and not His Jewish name Yeshua. It's like sorry I speak English...

Yes as you said there are many different ways to follow in this life. But Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (the way, the truth, and the life John 14:6). God has provided no other way to be reconciled with Him.. Jesus said, the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go by it. So we can choose to pay for our own sins in an eternity of darkness apart from Him, or simply trust in the payment thats already been made on our behalf! No works, excuses, no strings attached, contrary to what the 12 tribes says. There is nothing we can do to justify ourselves in the eyes of God apart from just believing and accepting His love through faith! He won't force anyone to accept His love though, so we must choose who we want to follow in life. If we want to follow God and the truth, all we have to do is simply ask God for forgiveness of sin and believe. ..I am saying all of this because I care about you and where you will spend eternity. I can't bear to withhold the facts from you that will bring you to the knowledge of eternal life :)

@@audreyd6725 That's your belief. I'm happy to say Jesus Christ is NOT my savior. I do not believe in One God or any at that matter. I have that right. I don't believe in your heaven and in the words of Ron Reagan Jr. "not afraid of burning in hell." There is no proof of your beliefs. You have NONE. Christianity didn't even become legal until 300 years after the tale of JC. A bunch of men decided what was going to be "Christianity" from that point and the first thing those people did, who compiled the bible that you stake your life on, was MURDER. They set out and MURDERED other Christians who did not believe exactly as they did: The Gnostics and Valentinians for example. And the good christians have been murdering ever since and judging everybody else according to their unproven therefore, fictional beliefs.

They only called " cult", because it's minority religion/ beliefs. Lot of people who's not been to countries " hardly heard about in any western territory, unless it's about to get attack😅, still believes,and thriving, to keep older beliefs,tradition,culture etc.. alive. Russia,for example.anyone familiar with their religions?

I call it a cult because it fits the criteria. Brainwashing, new identity, no outside influence, social pressure, there are others too.

So none of you ex members have a problem with the child beating? Or the way they will target newcomers so that families are split up? What about having to give them all your savings and property with no guarantee of anything?

People can be pretty attimate about what they believe. There are sooooo many things/ways to believe in this life, kinda arrogant to think they know everything, but ya know.
