This is my first video, so I thought i would start with the basics.
I was born into a Christian family and believed it with all of my heart, until I was able to separate myself from the constant brainwashing long enough to analyze it all from a logical perspective.
I will post more videos focusing on this topic, but feel free to leave a comment with any topics that you would like to see me address.

@@FarsadelcatolicismoThank you very much for your respond. I read it with keen interest. You argued that God cannot sacrifice Himself to Himself. I needed to hear that side of the argument. About a year ago, I was determined to explain the “Trinity” to Muslims in the most simply of terms - almost at a 6th grade level. While I did not particularly address the question (Can God sacrifice Himself to Himself), I believe if you read it, you will see how it is possible for God to sacrifice Himself to Himself. Thousands of Muslims have read it. I am forwarding it to you. Here is it: To understand the “Trinity”, you must first appreciate and understand the full meaning of the word “one”. The word “one” has always had two meanings: (1) singularity and (2) composite unity. Examples: In terms of “singularity”, the water molecule is one. But in terms of “composite unity”, the ‘oneness’ of the water molecule consists of two different natures: (1) Oxygen and (2) Hydrogen or (H2O). In terms of “singularity”, time is one. But in terms of “composite unity”, the ‘oneness’ of time consists of three different natures: (1) Past, (2) Present, and (3) Future. In terms of “singularity”, the universe is one. But in terms of “composite unity”, the ‘oneness’ of the universe consists of three different natures: (1) Time, (2) Space, and (3) Phenomenon - everything we can see, hear, feel, smell, and taste. The Science of Natural Laws support the trinity. It states, “Whatever is ‘one’ is a unity of many different natures or components (things).” Example: You are one person. But within your “oneness”, you have three different natures: (1) body, (2) spirit, and (3) soul. Your body is you, your spirit is you, and your soul is you. But your body is not the same as your spirit, and your spirit is not the same as your soul. However, each you (body, spirit, and soul), by itself, is actually you. In fact, on the day you die, people will refer to your body as your “remains” (left-behind or left-over). If your body is your “left-over” or “left-behind”, then where did the rest of you go? This can only make sense if within your “oneness” you are more than one you. And in this case, you are a “three-in-one” - you are a trinity. The message of the Bible is acceptably simple: God is one. Within His “Oneness”, there are three different Natures: (1) Father, (2) Word of God, and (3) Spirit of God. One day, God in His infinite wisdom and powers, took one of His three Natures called “Word of God” or “Word”, and placed Him inside the Womb of the Virgin Mary. Nine months later, a Child is born. The Child, naturally, is both the “Son of God” and the “Son of Man”. The Apostle John, in two verses, explains it this way: John 1:1 reads, “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” and in John 1:14 the Apostle added this: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and full of truth.” In other words, Jesus is one of God’s Natures who is covered in human skin. That is what the Prophet Isaiah meant when he said, “The Child will be the Father of Himself.” Isaiah 6:9 reads, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” Because Jesus is one of God’s Natures covered in human skin, Jesus correctly said, “I am in my Father and my Father is in me. I and my Father are one. If you have seen me, you have seen my Father. Before Abraham was, I am.” Jesus is also the “Son of Man” by way of His Human Mother. Thus, Jesus had human natures. In the sense of humanity (morality, ethics), it is understood that a son is not greater than his father. Jesus said, “My Father is greater than I.” Islam was established to prevent (stop) Jesus from being God. But Muhammed’s understanding of the word “one” was lacking or inadequate. That is why Islam’s rejection of the trinity is based on the mathematical equation: (1 + 1 + 1 = 3). It assumes that because you are a trinity, (your body + your spirit + your soul = 3 different human beings). Or in the case of the atom, (the protons + the neutrons + the electrons) equals three different atoms. From the beginning of creation, all peoples, all tribes, and all nations have understood the word “one” in terms of both “singleness” and “unity”. Deuteronomy 6:4 reads, “Hear O Israel, the LORD, our God is one LORD.” But God is a Trinity. This is like saying, “Hear O American people, the government, our U.S. Government is one government.” But the U.S. Government is a trinity, because within the ‘Oneness of the U.S. Government’ there are three different natures (government): (1) Executive Branch of Government, (2) Legislature Branch of Government, and (3) Judicial Branch of Government. Interestingly, no Islamic country argues that because the United States Government is a trinity, it alone must get three votes on every United Nations Resolution. My prayer is that in your desire to seek and to know the truth, you will consider the word “composite unity”. It, too, means “one”. God is one. ------------- You see, brother “Armor of the Faith”, if you had the power and the wisdom to take your spirit or your soul, each of which is you, and you place it inside the egg of a butterfly; and three weeks later, the egg hatched into a new butterfly, the new butterfly is you; and you are the father of the new butterfly. In other words, you are the father of yourself. In that sense, you can sacrifice yourself to yourself. This is only possible by way of the word “one” in terms of “composite unity”. It is not possible if you decide to restrict the word “one” only to “singularity”. Again, the word “one” has always had two meanings: (1) singularity and (2) composite unity.

I left Christianity after reading the Bible and trying to follow it perfectly. I literally was in a psychiatric hospital for a month over it. I really did believe that I was prophetic and had supernatural discernment. 🙄 A little after I got out, I threw my Bibles away. Being raised so steeply in it, I never thought I would “depart from it”. I look back now and see how toxic it really was for me. Thank you for making this video. I don’t personally know a lot of people I can relate to.

Something similar happened to me. My parents were pentecostal and believed in faith healing, speaking in tongues, casting out demons and other nonsense. When I was in a tough spot I prayed and fasted, but got nothing from this "all powerful God." It was when I tried to hear from God the way my parents did that I lost my mind and had to be hospitalized myself. Then they insisted that I had a demon and tried to excercise it which just made me suicidal. I ended up having to be hospitalized a second time. After everything that happened I took a hard look at the religion, as well as others with similar god claims, and came to the conclusion it was nonsense. Modern day science blatantly disproves these religions, and there have been thousands over human history, yet so many think they one they chose or were indoctrinated into is right. It's silly. Sorry for rambling, I just feel like I get where your coming from.

Those who have rejected Allah’s signs will have a severe punishment. Allah is Mighty, Able to take revenge. 5. Nothing is hidden from Allah, on earth or in the heaven. 6. It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god except He, the Almighty, the Wise. 252. These are Allah’s revelations, which We recite to you in truth. You are one of the messengers. 253. These messengers: We gave some advantage over others. To some of them Allah spoke directly, and some He raised in rank. We gave Jesus son of Mary the clear miracles, and We strengthened him with the Holy Spirit. Had Allah willed, those who succeeded them would not have fought one another, after the clear signs had come to them; but they disputed; some of them believed, and some of them disbelieved. Had Allah willed, they would not have fought one another; but Allah does whatever He desires. 254. O you who believe! Spend from what We have given you, before a Day comes in which there is neither trading, nor friendship, nor intercession. The disbelievers are the wrongdoers. 255. Allah! There is no god except He, the Living, the Everlasting. Neither slumber overtakes Him, nor sleep. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His permission? He knows what is before them, and what is behind them; and they cannot grasp any of His knowledge, except as He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not burden Him. He is the Most High, the Great. In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. Say, “He is Allah, the One. 2. Allah, the Absolute. 3. He begets not, nor was He begotten. 4. And there is none comparable to Him.” In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. Woe to every slanderer backbiter. 2. Who gathers wealth and counts it over. 3. Thinking that his wealth has made him immortal. 4. By no means. He will be thrown into the Crusher. 5. And what will make you realize what the Crusher is? 6. Allah's kindled Fire. 7. That laps to the hearts. 8. It closes in on them. 9. In extended columns.

@@joshuamartinpryce1237 Souls, why on earth are you all seeking CHRIST among the dead? And the only road (narrow road) to heaven amongst the religions? And why you all so quick to go and worship in carnal/religious ways? Is CHRIST not risen? Is not a single soul have gotten saved? And those mans whom GOD took into heaven, and they did not taste death - you all clam they be in their graves? GOD is not SPIRIT who calls us all to worship HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH? Is not GOD calling us to come out from BABYLON, what we keep seeking CHRISTIANITY in the Babylon? Just in case i say, 1st testament is our past from which to learn, it is no longer the way to live. As we now live under 2nd testament and the future which we too will or shall see is written into the book of REVELATION. 1st testament = past, yesterday. 2nd testament = present, TODAY. The most important thing is to KEEP THE 10 COMMANDMENTS on which our faith is build on. Without keeping the 10 commandments, there be no soul, who is Christian with living faith. We all be then lukewarms with dead faith and still into hellfire we shall go. We complain that nobody learns from the past, then why don´t we learn from the past? What's stopping us from opening the bible and start learning from the past? Pride stop us. Pride and the illusion, a lie which says” we're already educated”.

it is a pagan teaching that the Catholics mixed with the gospel to put people in line using fear mongering. The Bible never said people will burn eternally in a place called Hell Fire. I want you to show me where in the Bible the two words are used, that is to say Hell fire, because there is hell and there is fire, and they do not mean hell fire, hell is simply the common grave of mankind, we all know what fire is, I want to see where God said I will burn you in Hell fire, if you do not worship me. Lake of fire is not Hell fire FYI, that Bible verse concluded by with the words " which means second death". God told Adam ' if you eat the fruit of the tree, you shall return to dust'. If Adam is to return to dust, why then will children go to Hell Fire? It doesn't make any sense.

What I outlined in this video is exactly the story told in the bible; the reason it seems out of context is because I got right to the heart of what it's saying, instead of trying to pretty it up with a bunch of literary "glitter." Thank you for this video. I was raised in the church and indoctrinated into the Christian values and lifestyle from a very young age. I began to self harm at age 12 and became consumed by depression. I was told by many people that the only "true" antidote to depression was the joy of the Lord. So for years, I did all I could to follow God. I tried to follow each arbitrary rule in that archaic book, but always fell short, as one does. I thought that maybe if I could get it right, I would finally be happy. However, I've realized in these last few months that I have felt happier and more content than I have in a long time -- and I wholly attribute that to my decision to stop seeking validation and joy from Sky Man. I am done buying into the LIE that Jesus is the one who saves. The truth is, we are the only ones who can save ourselves from being overcome by the shitty world we live in. I feel like I am finally, truly, really free. I don't have to feel guilty for expressing myself, for being human, for being who I am. And I am glad that you found your truth too :) Elizabeth

+Larry Hendrick (2nd Peter 3:9) 'The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any ot perish but for all to come to repentance.' It is not uncommon for persons brought up in the fear of the Lord, to rebel enthusiastically in or around adolescence. But they may make tragic, even life-shortening mistakes in this way, even if they do turn out to be saved. I have seen it. On the other hand, leaving you self-satisfied in your impiety may have been punishment enough. It is said that God 'hardened' Pharaoh's heart. Yet this done according to Pharaoh's stubborn will, not contrary to it. God let him go his natural way. (Hebrews 12:7-8) 'It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as wit hson; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? BUT IF YOU ARE WITHOUT DISCIPLINE, OF WHICH ALL HAVE BECOME PARTAKERS, THEN YOU ARE ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN AND NOT SONS' (emphasis mine). Therefore I doubt that you were ever were truly a Christian. You mistook a religious experience, or an attept to conform to others' expectations, as the real thing. (Hebrews 11:1) 'Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.'

Christians belive that there is a punishment waiting for you after death. It's a psychology of fear. "Do as Bible says or you will be damned. You will go to hell". There is nothing like "eternal punishment", so fear not. There are many ways to God, and Christianity doesn't have to be someone's choice. If you are a good person, then you are a good person, don't feel guilty about not believing in Jesus. There is a divine power above all of us, and as long as there is good and love in your heart, it will be watching over you. These who shears hate for people of other beliefs should be afraid. If you hate someone and think you are better then them just because they belive something different or they look different YOU are far from God.

@@joshuamartinpryce1237 Here's the thing. That is exactly what I did. I grew up believing in God, but I became passionate about religion when I hit my teens. I went to camps, church, read the Bible, attended my mom's Bible study - everything. Except something was missing. God. Unlike the others, I never had a supernatural experience. I never felt God's presence, never heard him talk to me - nothing. So I prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed for YEARS for God to reveal himself to me. I read the Bible, and tried hard not to judge God for the horrible shit he did in the Old Testament because surely there was an explanation that my finite mind just couldn't understand. Finally, my mind had so many questions and so many doubts that I began looking for answers. I prayed for God's guidance, sure that he would answer them. The church and my religious connections couldn't give me a satisfying answer, so I turned to the internet. I looked for evidence of God. I watched debates. Surely if I searched for God, I'd find him, right? And boy was my confirmation bias on high. I read apologetics blogs and sites that supposedly connected God to science. I watched documentaries that proved God's existence. I read testimonies. But it was all bullshit. I couldn't buy it at all. Nothing that I consumed was atheistic at all, yet I became more full of doubt than ever. Finally, I realized, I no longer believed in a god. It crushed me. I wanted to, but I literally couldn't because nothing about religion makes sense. It's full of contradictions. I gave it some time, then discovered some incredibly intelligent atheists who actually had logical answers to my questions backed up by science and evidence, and not on "faith." My eyes opened up to new and more accurate ways of thinking. My quality of life improved, and I became a better person. Plato's cave allegory explains my experience exactly. You're trapped, man. The shadows that you see aren't reality. Here's my challenge for you: when you doubt something, look for the answer. Surely, if a god exists, then you'll find it. It'll bring you closer to him, right? But either way, you have everything to gain if you try searching for the truth.

@@joshuamartinpryce1237 I did look at "expert" opinions. I did ask the Holy Spirit to guide me. Know what I got? Nothing. In what context is commissioning slavery/slave beating, killing babies, and human sacrifice okay? I'm sure that's beating a dead horse, but that doesn't make it any less problematic. And the reason why it gets brought up over and over again is because no Christian has a solid answer, only excuses or elaborate theories to try to work around it and make it seem less shitty than it actually is. But the Bible says what it says, and the Christian God isn't the author of confusion. And yes, I did all the things I said I did, and that is how I got to the level of understanding I have right now. It might only seem impossible to you because, correct me if I'm wrong, you've never traveled that path, and believe others when they say that "no true believer in God would ever become an atheist," which is something I got fed a lot and believed because I had never known an atheist who was once a staunch believer in Christianity, and much of religion relies on believing what others tell you without ever questioning it. But now I do know one. Me. And now I know several. Seth Andrews, Matt Dillahunty - all of us were once staunch believers in Christianity. Hell, Dillahunty was literally studying to become a pastor, and Andrews spent his life in a Christian school and was a Christian radio host for years. Even recently, a lead singer from a well-known Christian band (Hawk Nelson, one of their popular songs being Drops in the Ocean) announced he no longer believed in god. Blind faith is never a good pathway to the truth, and people are starting to see that. I encourage you to watch The Atheist Experience (hosted by Matt Dillahunty). You can even call them and talk to them and try to convince them to believe in god, which is actually what much of what their show is about (theists calling them to try to prove their god's existence)

@@harper6032 I do not think you did, well at least not with an open mind. Didnt your church teach you how to read the bible. You cannot just read the bible is get answers, you will just see them as stories in normal context. You have to look at the situation of that time, you have to look at who inspired it. You have to look that how it can apply to today. Isolating verses does nothing, most of the time we have to read on to the ending of the story. Its like Moses, you would say God through Moses caused plagues to kill all the first born of the Egyptians without reading why God felt that way, and the fact that the Jews were slaves to the Egyptians for 400 hundred years first. The bible doesnt support slavery, but its in there to let us know about Jewish history and to show Gods love for His people, and its symbolic for us today, (well me because you do not believe). People are slaves to demonic forces today, the point of "good" and "bad" stories in the bible is to teach us lessons.

I hope I get there. I'm trying but scared. I was raised in a strict Pentacostal church throughout my childhood, then switched to Baptist as a young adult. I had too many questions and would immediately get shut down or ridiculed or lectured into forcing myself to believe again. I went to church until just a few years ago. Just like most questioning their religion, I was constantly fear driven. But I couldn't silence my "what if" and "but why did" type of unanswered questions and I don't want to live in fear. As an adult, I've recognized that the fear embedded in me from 4yo to now almost feels like psychological abuse. A conditioning. Even mind control at points. It was "Do this OR else..." There was no choice. I felt so judged for seeking answers and not just accepting what was written in the Bible or being lectured to me. Yes. I'm terrified of Hell, as I was raised to be. I'm terrified of death. I am terrified of "going against" church or even simply disconnecting quietly in peace. It is hard for me to tell my family I'm "losing my religion" (for lack of a better phrase) and I'm 35 years old, an adult, but I am aware of speaking out will cause my parents, family, and friends to freak and possibly disown me. Christianity IS very much a "we vs they" mob mentality, and it makes me sad. I've personally witnewsee too many Christians first-hand be so hypocritical on what they say they believe versus what they do in their daily lives, and how they treat and judge people. The fear and the pressure made me constantly feel nauseated. I felt obligated. I felt I wasn't allowed to question the Bible and what was wrong in it, and I felt mentally sick to question it - like even having thoughts of questioning it would send me straight to hell. I questioned how the church picks and chooses what to used in the Bible and what to ignore. (Like the 1st half completely, the Old Testament. And even things in the New.) Too much wrong and mistreatment and contradictions for me to simply accept. I'm stuck between disbelief in Christianity, still having a possible belief in a higher power, the in between, and the complete absence...like I'm in a dryer flipped and tossed around. But I have egging questions and I cannot NOT seek answers. So, I have been privately doing research on my feelings seriously for over 2 years but have questioned my faith since I was a pre-teen. I am STILL searching and slowly rediscovering myself and reducing what I know as fact against what I know from conditioning. I still have my weak moments... like when things go very wrong, or my friend (who just passed) was in a coma in ICU, my gut reaction was to beg and pray...and even as I did so, I found myself questioning the importance. Was it to make me feel better? Was it training? And most importantly, whether I prayed or not, would the outcome be any different? And I realized, even as I felt GUILTY realizing it (bc conditioning/brainwashing is a son of a bitch) that it wouldn't. Forcing myself to acknowledge I didn't have control of these outcomes, whether I prayed or not, was a bit liberating. Then I thought back to how many other times I prayed for something, a different outcome, throughout my life and didn't get it, and more things began to click. My mind goes on spirals. After a recent death and loss, I kept hearing over and over by everyone around me, "God knows things we cannot" and "God had a plan" and "He's in God's hands now" and so forth, and I wanted to scream. It's become shockingly aware to me that people are set in default mode that when something shitty happens that we don't understand or cannot accept, the answer is seemingly "Just trust in God. It's all up to God."...and it made me feel sick. I have witnessed all my life people using God as a CATCH ALL for things we as humans can't or won't accept; because after all, God is a more pleasant excuse than We Don't Know or Can't Explain Otherwise. I'm ANGRY. The more I research and discover, work to rewire my brain, the more angry I get. Yes, I've been "in the closet" with my family and friends because 99.9% of them were raised as I was (strict religion) or led by blind faith without a church and they don't WANT to hear questions of opposition or seek their own answers beyond this because it's more comforting to them. They don't want to reason. And I get it. So I'm left in the dark, feeling solely on my own, digging myself out of this mud, and STILL feeling guilty about the what-ifs. What if what I'm doing is wrong? What if I am situating myself into a one-way seat that sends me straight to hell for even considering and questioning? But the problem is, I can't stop. It eats at me when I do. It keeps me awake. It rotates in my mind everytime someone brings up God or religion and my first instinct now is to cringe instead of find comfort. I can't help myself. The more things don't make sense, the more I realize what was done to me all of my life, the more I need to research. I can't sit idly by and accept things as I'm being told or preached at anymore. I want to know for myself. Does that make me immoral? Does that make me plagued? Does that make me selfish? I don't know. But the fact that I can't stop the way I'm feeling and questions I seek out tells me I may be onto something, and i cannot shake that. And I've tried. I've tried going back to living under a rock, and truthfully, i hate it. I hate that I can't stop questioning or cringing...but I also trust myself in acknowledging that must mean something. I know I'm babbling, but yes, it is where I'm at - digging through the muck. If ANYONE who is going through (or has gone through it) has any recommendations for me, be in on KZbin or a book or movie or resource, whatever, please - I'm all ears. Thank you for caring about me allowing me to express myself, for taking the time to read this. I'm scared I'm wrong, but I'm also scared I'm right. I just want to feel free to choose. Actually free. Perhaps if we were allowed to be love-driven versus fear-driven, I'd consider things differently. But we aren't and never will be. 💔 There is an old saying: "Once you see something for what it truly is, you can never see it." Sidenote: I just want to say THANK YOU for your story and to everyone who sees my comment and UNDERSTANDS. People like you have not judged me. You have shown me empathy and compassion, more than most "christians". It's comforting to know I am not alone, and many others may have been where I am. And for those who love and accept me regardless of religion, race, political views, whatever it may be, **hugs**. I love you. Thank you. You're a true friend.

well you shouldnt judge a religion on how some people treat you. you should judge it on what the book says. i read all what you wrote, and i can tell youre going to a time of confusion and i respect that. i would be glad if you can post specific questions. christianity is not the "we vs they" mentality, i dont see christians treating people that way. our society is strongly a christian society and we mingle with everyone. you are allowed to question the bible. if anyone doesnt respond then its the person's lack of knowledge. have you been to a class where the teacher couldnt answer why something is the answer and they just brushed over the question with "thats the answer", does that mean what the teacher is teaching is false? no, its the teacher's lack of knowledge. When we pray, we physically dont have control of the outcomes that is why we pray to God. you said about, praying and not receiving response, theres several reasons why, maybe you didnt have faith enough, maybe its not the right time. we know God works in the time he deems right not in when we want it. a father gives gifts to his child when the father deems its right, not when the child wants it. if you have specific questions i would be glad to answer them.

I realize your response on this thread is 2 yrs ago but I need to get this off my chest. I too was brought up christian from baptist to assembly of god to pentecostal to currently baptist. I started questioning my belief in Christianity, the bible and in god since last year even though I know I had doubts throughout the years. I just told myself that if I just be a better christian and seek god that everything would fall into place but the problem was is that it didn't and instead of feeling complete I just felt more lost and confused. Right now I am in the middle of not returning to church and ducking my Sunday school teacher, friends and even family who would not understand or accept my feelings. So I just stay away from them at this time and try to come to terms with how and why I have decided not to believe in god anymore. I don't want to be lectured, shamed or otherwise made to feel that I am stupid for feeling this way. I can tell you that having gone over Genesis, the old testament and understanding more about science I just know in my heart that there is no god but I am also afraid of hell and what if I am wrong then what? Anyways I am just trying to navigate through my feelings and my understanding so I can make the best possible decision in my life and to move forward.

I agree with you. In my case I had so many questions about teachings and doctrines in my church that when I approach the liders to clarify some of them either they came out with something irrelevant or plain ignore me or came with a childish answer. It was frustrating for me, I had to dig and find for myself and at the same time I prayed I asked to the God/Creator for the answer but more specifically for the truth! and one by one the inconsistencies and errors started to appear...I felt free and liberated! And for the first time in my life I had my morals driven by freedom and love to my brethren humans rather than by fear and punishment.

+Arian Willis at this point, I'm really hoping you are just a troll, because your arguments suck. But just in case.... Those tyrannical laws were passed by mostly christian politicians and justices; even so, they are nothing compared to the laws presented in the bible when it comes to being tyrannical. An atheistic worldview provides much more freedom than any theistic one ever could, since our goal is not to appease some supernatural deity, but to make the best of this life while we live it.

+riutty nomka I do not know of what church you are speaking, or if indeed that church was within the bounds of historic Christianity. It is impossible to tell whether your leaders were poorly equipped to answer you, or whether you are judging them too severely, or both. It was definitely a good idea to pray! However you have not specified what were the errors. When you speak of freedom in morals, do you mean: (a) that you were able to focus on doing what your conscience told you was right, instead of on not doing what others told you was wrong? (b) that you just went ahead and did whatever pleased you, without examining your conscience? Either way one might 'feel' liberated. But the second way is obviously not so good as the first. And it is still better to have objective assurance that God has forgiven one's sins: (a) because Jesus has already paid the penalty; and (b) because by believing in Jesus, one actually receives the benefits of Jesus' sacrifice for sin on our behalf, according to His promises. 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.' Again, I don't know your background, but you sound like someone who was caught in Roman Catholicism, which has many cultish aspects and teaches many false doctrines. I read many stories of ex-priests who had left the Catholic religion to become true Christians. Don't be led astray by the arguments of worldly know-it-alls, such as one finds among 'new atheists'. Their anti-Christianity is just another form of religious bigotry.

It's crazy to see how few videos there are of people realizing that Christianity and the Bible are not what they're cracked up to be. I used to be extremely Catholic but I was always questioning the validity of the Bible, which led to me leaving the church and religion for good. Basing your whole life on one book and telling everyone that doesn't follow it that they're going to hell seems at the very least unempathetic and at the most, downright illogical. You really aren't allowed to critically think in Christianity, which I saw as a major deterrent. Thank you for making this video. Hopefully it will help people to develop an open mind and to stay inquisitive of what they believe in.

Adam, What we believe determines everything in our existence according to our perception, limited or otherwise. If we choose a certain destination and get on the wrong train, sooner or later reality sets in.Our sins condemn us to hell and God has given us a way of escape through the atoning sacrifice of His Son, paid for on a cross which we all as sinners deserve. The only thing standing between us and eternal damnation is His payment for our sins and our acceptance of His offering. It is not so important when Christ was born on earth but that He has been born in us before we leave this earth! "It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement." Hebrews 9:27 The word of God has clearly mapped out our certain destination according to our choice of what we believe... "By His grace we are saved through faith and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8

James 4:17 Cory, remember the parable of the sower...Matt13:18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Also consider: The Parable of the Weeds: Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Your probably feeling a little smug sharing that Bible scripture, and you have 7 likes, no comments 🤔. Firstly, without telling me " the Bible tells me so" or, " you prove to me he isn't" and so forth, how do you know God is true? The new testament is a fraud to say the least, non of the " gospels" were written by the " apostles" neither were there any eye witnesses. Now don't tell me you know that there were eyewitnesses, you were not there. This dude is right, the whole Bible wasn't written by any deciples or God breathed. It was written decades after the "fact"🤔 and non of it was written by anyone that claims it was written by. When" Jesus" was talking about this generation won't pass away till all has been fulfilled, he was talking about, or rather, the story is saying, that when " Jesus" walked the earth, was when he was returning 🤔🤔 this poses a problem, it was said , supposedly, 2000 years ago. Do you really think that a loving God would take this long to redeem his faithful? I wouldn't think so, and if God is all knowing, why did he continue with the human race. I might add also, don't think you'll make it to heaven either, my guess is you celebrate Easter and Christmas and New year and birthdays, right? 😏

@@helenellsworth9556 And you weren't there either to say there were no witnesses! When Jesus was talking about the generation that will not pass before all these things will be fulfilled, He was talking about the generation who sees all the signs of the end of time that He was talking about. It is was not called a "Prophetic Reason" for nothing. He wasn't referring to the generation He was addressing at that time 2'000 years ago. You are probably feeling a little smug believing that you have a little knowledge about something, and you have 1 like and no comments! But there is a saying where I come from; "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"! Jesus is not delaying His return because He is not concerned about redeeming His faithful; He is delaying it because He wants "all flesh to be saved". He is delaying His return (if He is) for the sake of those who are not saved yet and would be lost forever. He is delaying (if He is) out of love and mercy and kindness. Isn't that why Jesus came in the first place "to seek and to save those who are lost"? Didn't He specifically say "I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance"? As for not minding His "faithful" in delaying His return; didn't He specifically say that they will be hated and persecuted and have tribulation in this world till the end and until His coming again? Your logic is not logical at all and does not serve you right! And didn't Jesus say that the Gospel must be preached to the whole world and to all the peoples of the world and only then will the end come? His return is subject to this being fulfilled.....i.e. to the Gospel being preached to the ends of the world! The Bible is NOT the basis or foundation for believing; Jesus Christ is the foundation. Jesus Christ is the "Word of God" not a book. Not even the Bible. The Bible, whatever you may think of it is just "one of the witnesses" or one of the things bearing witness of Jesus Christ. God never intended us to be dependent on a book! The Gospel message is shared by word of mouth from one believer to the next. As one believes in Christ and is saved, he becomes the next witness and the mouthpiece through which Jesus speaks. As Jesus promised that whenever someone opens his heart to Him, He will come in and make His dwelling inside that person and commune with him personally! Jesus is still speaking to people all over the world today who are prepared to listen! His message is still the same today; "if you do not believe it is I, you will die in your sins..."! If you believe in Me, you will never die! And even if you die, yet you shall live forever more"! "I am the Bread of Life"! "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life"!

I wished I could believe it, even if it wasn’t true, I’ve tried to explain to my former fellow believers that stories in the Bible are most likely impossible even if there would be an omnipotent God, stories like Noah’s ark, Job 38, Joshua 10:12, the events in Matthew 27 (which are nowhere to be found in any historical source from that time). I’ve asked how they could explain that kind of stuff, of course they couldn’t, but they believed it anyway. It is God’s infallible Word, so it must be true, right? I see you haven’t made videos after these ones, I will probably watch them all. Please know it means a lot to me. Maybe some day you could give some insight in how life progressed for you since.

Man , get out of here with that garbage. This is so relatable. I grew up in fundamentalism and meeting science made my worldview crash and burn. I also found christ mythicism, found biblical errors, etc. I went from Christian to humanist. I did not stay a humanist very long though. My skepticism turned in on morals and purpose and I eventually became a nihilist. I eventually became a Christian again through a very long and strange journey involving t. Very different christian now though. I accept all science (truth is objective, all truth is truth). The bible is not "inerrant" in the traditional sense of the term, but is very much a product of it's time, whether wisdom literature or greco-roman historiography, or apocalyptic. A lot of genres. None of them are modern science textbooks or the modern version of the genre "history". The gospels are best compared to other historiographies from the time period like Herodotus or Suetonius. The first 11 chapters of Genesis are best compared with other mesopotamean origin myths like the Enuma Elish or the Epic of Gilgamesh (actually, comparison here is what gives the texts their meaning. The Genesis stories are certain responses to these stories once you know what they say. Definitely not modern science haha. How do you have a day without a sun?) I might take time to address some of the issues in this video at some point. I could make a whole series on how to deal with these great questions I also struggled with. Thanks for being thoughtful and honest.

On the son of God, that actually had a lot of meanings at the time. A Jewish person in 1st century palestine would not read the gospel of Mark 14:61 and think "Oh yeah, the son of God, the second personhood of the single being trinity". They would think of the following definitions: 1) Israelites 2)pious Israelites 3) a king 4) the coming predicted king, (messiah/christ both just mean "anointed one". "Anointed one" just meant king because kings were anointed with oil when they were inaugurated. Christ is the greek and Messiah is the aramaic of the same term) 5) a member of the divine council. In the context of Mark 14:61 the high priest is referring to a coming king. Son of God did not necessarily connote anything divine or any connection to yaweh. What drives the priest mad is when Jesus calls himself the son of man riding the clouds of heaven in verse 62. This is a reference to the "son of man" in Daniel 7:13-14, who even though he was a human, he was worshiped as only God should be and ruled at God's right hand. There was a lot of speculation in the 1st century about who this enigmatic man who is worshiped and lives forever like God might be. Jesus says, "ya boi right here!" Then he's all kinds of killed.

This. You are definitely not alone. There are so many of us out there. I unbecame a Christian by studying the biblical languages at my conservative bible college. Once you start reading the Hebrew and Greek, and you see what massive leaps any "translation" of the bible takes to hop into English, I understood how bent out of shape conservative "translation committees" have become in order to keep the accessible bible leaned heavily toward their aims, goals and power structures. I dropped out of seminary. I gave up on what I thought my calling was...because, I realized, it wasn't my calling. It was what my family, congregation and faith at large conspired to make me think I wanted. It was actually just me responding to all of that pressure put upon me. The truth stands on its own merits, or it isn't the truth. I still call myself "a follower of Jesus of a sort". Growing up in such a deeply conservative evangelical environment, I could no more quit following the wisdom of the teachings of Jesus than I could quit being a (US) American. What I first learned of compassion, love, kindness, and not being an @®$€#0!€ (in general), came from those teachings. I will always cherish how they have inspired me to grow and become a better human. Sadly, it goes hand-in-hand with the spiritual and psychological manipulation that habitat carried with it. You are stronger for the hard work you've done, and I'm proud of you for following compassion, reason, and sanity to where you are. It matters that you took the steps you did.

Every Christian thinks they're following the "real Christianity" just as much as every other Christian does. Some have a better evidential case than others, but ultimately, I don't believe there's any such thing. The term "Christianity" applies to a wide range of beliefs and ideas. That's one reason I won't ever go back to Christianity, and I can know that with pretty high confidence.

+Jack Grothaus People often confuse being 'spiritual' with having powerful sensory or aesthetic experiences, experiences which they may call 'numinous'. But the Bible declares that in our natural, unconverted state we are spiritually dead. In his teaching the apostle Paul describes to believers in Christ the condition from which they have been delivered through Christ: (Ephesians 2:1-2) 'And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.' Just to be clear, 'the prince of the power of the air' refers to satan; 'the sons of disobedience' refers to those who do not know Christ. It is quite possible to be a 'religious' person or to attend church formally, without knowing Christ. Christian conversion is an internal process which inevitably generates change in outward behavior. But it does not necessarily involve any sort of numionous experience. Romans 10:9 says 'that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.' That may sound dry, but lives are transformed by it. There is no guarantee that numinous experiences per se will make a person kinder, more loving, or more upright, or lead to any genuine relationship with God. It really depends upon the source of the experience: is it from the one true God (as with Abraham or Moses), or from another (i.e. wicked) spiritual source, or a product of human imagination?

I grew up in a Christian family and we went to various churches. The first was cultish and when I was brought there as an infant, and was left with a child there with no adult supervision, I was swung around by that child and let go into a doorframe; the second was where I went to Sunday School and learned about Noah's Ark though I was extremely doubtful and dismissive; the third was mostly where I went to youth service and played Burnout Revenge. On the way to the third, I told my dad that God was a sky god. When I grew up, I went to a messianic synagogue with my brother, prayed with the rabbi for the holy spirit to enter my heart, and got baptized. After that, I attended an Episcopal church with my mother which had a very knowledgeable and encouraging pastor and coffee hour. :) Nothing true has anything to fear in being questioned, critiqued, or doubted. Can not the holy spirit enable those who receive him to read and and write in any language? Can not Jesus appear as a visible mirage, obvious and evidential to anyone with sight and a smartphone, without appearing as a mental hallucination experienced by a limited proportion of the human population? Can not the Abrahamic god change his mind about killing every infant on the planet as when he changed his mind about Abraham killing Isaac? Can any person survive the belly of a whale without a healthy supply of fairy dust?

Thanks so much for your honesty. For me it was the list of "Do's and Don'ts" that made me feel inadequate and further away from God. Finally I decided to leave church, not saying everyone should, but I needed to be uninfluenced and sort myself out. See in the beginning I was sold out on the unconditional love and safety in the Saviour. Although having good intentions, when churches preach law it becomes a whole legalistic religious organization that robs us of our true identity and freedom that we are supposed to have. What I found is that religion says "Fix yourself and God/we will accept you" while the Gospel is supposed to be "Come just as you are and I will give you righteousness/(okayness) as a gift". Religion says "You have to work hard to stay forgiven and right" while the true Gospel is supposed to be: "With a single sacrifice I have made you perfectly accepted and irreversibly forgiven forever". Religion says "God is in love with a future version of you" while the Gospel of Grace is supposed to be: "God loves you as you are right now unconditionally and is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE". Religion is a bunch of rules to follow as a prerequisite to acceptance versus the Gospel of Grace is supposed to provide immediate irreversible acceptance which will produce the "works"/performance over time, but our performance is supposed to be SECONDARY to the "Work Christ did". This reveals a bit of what I found. Please see my journey as I left the church in this link for more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXmqe42Igq50Zpo Appreciate it.

He stopped appearing to us physically because even when he did we still didn’t listen to him. That fact that he no longer shows himself to us does not mean he’s “changed”. You didn't think that through very well, bud. Seems like you're just trying to make up any answer you can to appease yourself and feel like biblical mythology isn't total nonsense (which it is). According to the Bible, God used to come down and directly interact with people physically. Now, he does not. Coming down in person is part of his character, which means how character has changed. What's worse is that your explanation destroys your ability to claim that God is omniscient. You say that God used to come down physically, but since e didn't listen to him anyway, he stopped. The necessary implication of that is that he LEARNED that we don't listen, which CHANGED his mind about coming down. That means he didn't know previously that we don't listen, or he never would have come down in the first place. Therefore, he is not omniscient.

Let's also look at the fact that nothing in the New Testament is extant, meaning nothing is original. All we have are copies of copies. We have fragments from the 2nd Century but most comes from the 3rd and 4th Century (which is when many other Christian forgeries were popping up). A few examples, Seneca The Younger lived from 4BC to 65AD. The Epistle to Seneca the Younger is a collection of correspondence claiming to be from Paul the Apostle to Seneca the Younger. There were supposedly 14 letters written between them (8 epistles from Seneca, and 6 replies from Paul) in the 1st Century. Saint Jerome (347-420AD) mentioned them in his De Viris Illustribus (chap. 12). However, these letters were nothing more than 4th Century forgeries, comparable to other forgeries of the Constantinian age such as Pseudo-Clementine Homilies (300-320AD), Manichean Acts of Leucius Charinus (300-350AD), Apocalypse of Thomas (300-400AD), Freer Logion (300-400 AD), Gospel of Gamaliel (300-600AD), just to name a few. Also, even early Church fathers acknowledged that there were indeed similarities between the Christ narrative and Greek myths. A few of the church fathers just chalked it up to the 'devil trying to deceive people, before Christ came to earth.' Dennis MacDonald, who is the John Wesley Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at the Claremont School of Theology in California. He wrote several books detailing how the NT writers surely did copy and borrow from the Greek Poets such as Homer and Euripides. Watch a video series here on YT based on his books, which is entitled, 'EXCAVATING THE EMPTY TOMB.' Your eyes will be greatly enlightened! I'm not just spouting my own idiosyncratic views here. This view that the New Testament Gospels contain mistakes, discrepancies, factual errors, textual alterations, contradictions, anachronisms, additions, omissions and corruptions aren't held by me alone. This is virtually the consensus view among critical scholars across the USA and Europe. It is shared by all the New Testament scholars who teach at all the major Universities of America. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt, Emery, U of Pennsylvania, U of Iowa, U of Florida, U of Florida State, U of Georgia, U of North Carolina, U of Virginia, U of Maryland, U of Rutgers, U of Texas, U of Oklahoma, U of Kansas, U of Nebraska, etc.. etc.. It is also taught by every divinity school seminary not connected with the Universities. Princeton Theological Seminary, Claremont, The Graduate Theological Union, and on and on and on! These are not some weird views that I pulled out of nowhere. These views are taught at every higher institution of learning around the world, who is not fundamentalist or evangelical Christian. Even many of these who teach these things are Christians themselves, but they don't teach it with the assumption that the Bible is without mistakes. Also, I believe the NT writers were copying from fictional and nonfictional sources. A FEW OTHER RANDOM COMPARISONS : 1. ROMAN TIBERIUS GRACCHUS (150BC ; 150 years before Christ) SAID THIS, ; “The wild beasts that roam over Italy have their dens and holes to lurk in, but the men who fight and die for our country enjoy the common air and light and nothing else. It is their lot to wander with their wives and children, houseless and homeless, over the face of the earth...." Compare to this below : Matthew 8:20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." ------- 2. Jesus healed a blind mind in John chapter 9 by spitting on clay and rubbing it on his eyes, then sending him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. COMPARE THAT ABOVE TO THIS BELOW ABOUT VESPASIAN IN THE TEMPLE OF SERAPIS (Around 69AD) Tacitus said, : "At Alexandria a commoner, whose eyes were well known to have wasted away ...fell at Vespasian's feet demanding with sobs a cure for his blindness, and imploring that the Emperor would deign to moisten his eyes and eyeballs with the spittle from his mouth... Vespasian .... did as the men desired him. Immediately the hand recovered its functions and daylight shone once more in the blind man's eyes. Those who were present still attest both miracles today, when there is nothing to gain by lying." (Tacitus, The Histories, 4) Suetonius said, : "Vespasian, the new emperor, having been raised unexpectedly from a low estate, wanted something which might clothe him with divine majesty and authority. A poor man who was blind, and another who was lame, came imploring him to heal them, and saying that they were admonished in a dream by the god Serapis who assured them that he would restore sight to the one by anointing his eyes with his spittle, and give strength to the leg of the other, if he vouchsafed but to touch it with his heel. At first he could scarcely believe that the thing would work.. however, by the advice of his friends, he made the attempt publicly, in the presence of the assembled multitudes, and it was crowned with success in both cases." (Suetonius, Divine Vespasian Chapter 7) -------- 3. JOSEPHUS WROTE THIS ABOUT HIMSELF (95AD) : "I made mighty proficiency in the improvements of my learning, and appeared to have both a great memory and understanding. Moreover, when I was a child, and about fourteen years of age, I was commended by all for the love I had to learning; on which account the high priests and principal men of the city came then frequently to me together, in order to know my opinion about the accurate understanding of points of the law." (Life of Josephus Book 1; Chapter 2) COMPARE TO : Luke 2:42 And when Jesus was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival [of Passover]....After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers..., And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. P.S......... Also to note, that when Josephus wrote his autobiography around 95AD (Life of Flavius Josephus), he was highly educated on the differing sects of the Jews. Nowhere does he mention Christians or Christianity (which would've been a worldwide Jewish sect at the time of his writing it).

+Arian Willis thank you for proving my point. It is the simple who read one book and assume it has all of the answers. It is the simple who see it written "this book is the word of God," and believe it. It is the simple who believe that there everlasting, all powerful God who created everything, and yet, he needed to send a part of himself in human form to die so that he can forgive us for something that he made us do. People have believed in gods since at least the beginning of recorded history, yet none have been so nonsensical, egotistical, or pointless until Christianity came along and claimed that God made us in his image, killed his son for us, and that the only point of our entire existence is to spend eternity worshiping him.

I had a nervous breakdown about all this in April of 2017. Eventually I was able to keep myself from losing sleep or constantly stressing about it, but I'm vulnerable because I'm having another breakdown and now I'm not sleeping... I wish humans weren't wired to believe in this stuff. I can't say I'm a Christian, I'm an Atheist with anxiety who fell back into that hole. What if Christians die and then realize even they go to Hell because they're all wrong? Religion is a cultural predisposition.

I made a genuine attempt for about a year to accept and become a christian. I found the bible very very hard to read for so many reasons especially how god is portrayed as such a childish jerk, but I carried on and tried my hardest. I asked for Jesus to come into my life every single night, and for god to show me the way, nothing, absolutely nothing. I could write a book on how utterly ridiculous christianity is but many have already done that. This is not the answer you are looking for, its a trap, a spiritual trap that will keep you utterly clueless about the nature of reality. Of course it is comforting for some because it keeps them in a naive bubble. I am now agnostic and have an interest in the occult.

I would recommend reading Plato. The Myth of Er in his book, Republic, gives an accurate description of what Christians believe about Hell, punishment, and reward in the afterlife. It is true that it is all based in myth. And Jungian psychology has given some pretty awesome psychological insights to stories in the bible... because that is what they are... stories. People have always doubted Christianity, even from its beginnings.

Hell is translated to grave from old Greek isnt a real place , the catholics adopted this pagan idea and forced it to gain authority over the massages for wealth. Unfortunately many people still believe in it , even when you gave them the literal translation. In the Bible is written that when a human dies he is death waiting for resurrection day and people who are lost will be death forever not living in constant torment , this is so idiotic because no sin deserve such a punishment logically enough unfortunately many who belive in this cant find it, also contradicting Gods character.

Also contradicting God's just character , pity that people still believe in it. In The Bible God said clearly that when human dies he is death and wait for the resurrection day when some will be death forever and others have eternal life no ones gonna be torment forever,no sin deserve that and its pretty logical actually. God punishes people like dictators and people who are really evil , i have the feeling that many american churches are forcing their own understanding of ruthless God and preach false things about Him.

Most people feel this way because it is not pleasant to think you can go to hell for your sins. But just because something is unpleasant doesn’t mean it is not true. We are responsible for our decisions in this life and in the end we all will have to answer to God whether we believe or not.
@ACallToReason

+Brad T I doubt that that's true that most people feel that; it's certainly true that I don't. I didn't say that it isn't true because it's unpleasant. It's not true because it's self contradictory. The bible says that God is love, but if the doctrine of hell is true, that first statement would be demonstrably false because of the reasons I already provided in the video. If I had any reason at all to believe that hell were real, I would take that very seriously. However, I do not have any such reasons, so I don't believe or worry about it.

A Call To Reason I get what your saying but if there’s one man that lives a decent life never causing harm to anyone and another who murders and rapes women would a loving God let both men into Heaven? There would be no justice in that. Hell is very real and many people are going, but because of the love God has for us we don’t have to or have to worry about going there. The fact that we can even consciously discuss this is a testament to God giving us free will to think and decide for ourselves. It’s hard to recognize any of this when we are all caught up in everyday life.
