This is a fruit of divergent movements. The Catholic Church is the only true Church of Jesus Christ and all protestants, mormons, and JWs are in error... How can we know this? Well, we must first acknowledge that there has been an actual providential history under the sovereignty of God. This is known from the Bible as Jesus promises a Church and the Holy Spirit to guide it. In other words, there is no view of history, especially Christian and Church history, that can remain valid or credible without showing its own continuity with the actual historical narrative. Jesus is the vine and his disciples are the branches. Thus there will ALWAYS be historical continuity that brings us right back to Christ, the Apostles, and those whom have been taught by them in the faith and guidance of the Spirit (the earliest of whom include: Ignatius of Antioch, Clement of Alexandria, Justin Martyr, Augustine, etc.) In other words, articulation and doctrine of the faith (such as veneration of relics of Saints [refer to Saint Polycarp's bones], praying to the Blessed Virgin [refer to 4th century inscriptions], believing in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist [refer to John 6 and Justin Martyr], or the veneration of icons [refer to John of Damascus and iconoclasm debate of 7th-9th century]) are not random concoctions without any context or reality. Instead, they are proper responses to condemn erroneous teachings and practices contrary to what was seen as normalized or even taken for granted in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. Therefore, in order for any protestant to remain credible and present an argument against the Catholic Church, he or she must first demonstrate that the one Church instituted by Christ, handed down to the Apostles, disciples, and so on, AND guided by the Holy Spirit, ceased to exist at some point in history and was only recovered by the 'faithful providence of God's plan in Luther'... or Joseph Smith... or some other biblical exegete who decided he (or she) finally understood the Bible as it was meant to be interpreted... you know... instead of the reality in which it has been revealed, compiled, and preserved. In other words, most christians have given up the race before really even beginning it because theyve been misled by protestant falsities. If it's from the Holy Spirit, it's Catholic!

@theonlyway5298 Жыл бұрын
I agree with your quote, particularly as it is very applicable from a Christian's perspective, in their view of those who don't want to hear the truth, but want to remain in their own illusions. Its probably not quite the direction you were thinking of applying it, but nevertheless, from a Christian perspective it has validity. We do need to acknowledge that what is a popular ideology or truth, in one era, is dismissed in another as being 'not true', mostly likely in an ever spinning spiral that has its influences in popularity and fashion, each new generation discovering "the new truth", but being dismissed by the next era of generations. Today's 'heros' will be tomorrow's comedians and the pursuit of truth is relentless. What one proudly announces today as new revelation or understanding, is tomorrow evaded as an embarrassment. History can tell us much about this process, as it repeats itself endlessly.

@TheTruthKiwi Жыл бұрын
@@theonlyway5298 How is it flawed exactly?
@theonlyway5298 Жыл бұрын
@@TheTruthKiwi Its flawed firstly because you are imposing a modern skeptical perspective anachronistically, on 2000 years of Christian faith, which is contextually inapplicable. Nietzsche's statement, is a modern skeptical idea, that is founded upon his own modern philosophical ideas of Nihilism and Positivism. Unfortunately for Nietzsche, he spent the last 11 years of his life in a Mental institution with general paralysis and mental breakdown, having lost his sight, due to Syphilis - thus his philosophical ideas, did not in fact personally help him morally - still less spiritually! Having ideas is one thing, but proving they actually work is quite another! Nietzsche had been a gifted man, but as with other men who have been given exceptional gifts but who did not give glory to God for them, his life in the end, was humiliating and very sad! Regarding the statement itself, its isn't applicable, because it is based upon the false assumption that there is a dual conflicting consciousness between: a) wanting to believe in God and b) having a motive (in the statement indicated by: "don't want"), to protect that belief, while having an awareness of it being an illusion or delusion. While (a) may well be true, (b) is far less likely to be true historically, because in the cultural context of the Christian west, for example, few if any would question the existence of God. The questioning of the existence of God as we know it today, is a relatively modern and mostly western idea, confined to a minority of the world's population. Additionally: c) the idea that "the truth" is that God 'doesn't exist', as you are applying his statement, is again based upon your own philosophical ideas and it cannot be assumed that those who believe in God, would countenance that as being 'the truth', any more than you can actually prove it is "the truth". Thus in summary, while its interesting to hear your view and compare it with other people's views, experiences and beliefs, in the light of the above things which I have discussed here, I'm not convinced at all by the applicability of Nietzsche's statement, to the existence or continuum of religion.

But after 2 years I left the new church my family attended. It wasn’t until I let go of God that I found my existentialism deteriorating and my anxiety levels going down. This is why Jesus was so angry with the Pharisees. They were ritualistic and judgmental and all they thought about was their synagogue and affluence. They were hurting the people with their ritualism rather than applying the real truth of the Word. We should learn from that! Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. What you were trapped by was the controlling influences of other people. Faith in Christ isn't based in those people, their perceptions, their beliefs , their ideologies, their rituals , their requirements , their interpretations , their suggestions and their points of view. Faith is based in Jesus alone and what He promises and provides for us through Him and only Him. Never our fellow man. The religions of man have distorted faith into a system of control and monetary gain for them.

@@justinspence8341 God doesn't give us faith. He gives us salvation by His grace through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Something we do not deserve but freely given because God loves us that much. Our faith is what we give God by our belief in Jesus and His completed work and self sacrifice on the cross on our behalf to pay our sin debt and die in our place for those sins. We are not saved by our own works least we would boast about it. We can never achieve redemption back to God on our own because we are inherently wicked and not perfect. I am writing to share the most incredible thing you will likely ever hear, and it has everything to do with your position if you will follow it. First, it is impossible that anything you can touch, taste, hear, see or smell on the face of the earth, be it lighting, tornados, rocks, life, minerals from salt to plutonium or anything that can be with the powerful telescope we have in orbit and beyond what we can see, that could possibly exist without having been created. Because of this, we can be sure that everything that is had to be made where there was absolutely nothing to make it out of. Romans 1:20 New International For since creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. So you see, there is a God. I myself have studied world religions in depth in college and much more so on my own time. I have found that the only religion that holds water is Christianity. I am no affiliate of any Christian denomination as they are called because the enemy has a very well received counterfeit in place in nearly all of them, and the condition is terminal. I am Messianic, where I find Truth to be most rightly applied and followed. The bill of rights we share is such a blessing. But I will quote TobyMcKeehan with Times are changing/With morals in decay/Human rights have made the wrong okay. I am only showing you the way as I have found it through much study and life experience. Perhaps my best case for Truth of this is found in the book of Habakkuk 1-2:17 where he was given a vision of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Some very strong and interesting proof is in the discovery of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is in these videos. Pt. 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoLWmIxnZpp4fMU Pt. 2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqHPmWeEgtSEqZo And here is where the remains of pharaoh's army is found in the red sea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmSxpnShjbqqq5I Gnesis 19:24 New International Version Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah--from the LORD out of the heavens. Brimstone found there is over 95 percent pure. The purest sulfur anywhere else is just over 45% and is found near active geothermal regions. Brimstone such as is found near these two infamous cities is found nowhere else on earth. Yet here it is still, a God-given supernatural element to warn those who would live against Him. 2 Peter 2:6 If He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly; He is love or He wouldn't have warned us.After much consideration I found truth best taught and followed as a Messianic. Christian here, as for a lot of the theological questions and confusions you had, I have similar ones all the time. I think it’s important and healthy for all Christians to wonder about how reality works and why things are the way they are within their own religion. I remember my catholic grandfather and I got into a debate about Christianity and Catholicism, and he was telling me “The catholic doctrine is the infallible truth that is written by extremely intelligent, highly educated men who were guided directly by God. You can’t question anything!” I bluntly responded to him, “I think we should question everything! In the sense that we should look at everything critically in a healthy level, wondering why things are the way they are, so we can actually understand what we’re believing.” So I empathize and I definitely agree there are way too many Christians who just believe all these doctrinal and theological things without ever wondering “Why” or “How”. At the same time, I know we probably aren’t going to definitively figure out the answers to some of these questions. It sucks, but honestly it doesn’t bother me too much. One thing that rationalizes my faith in Jesus in my own mind is that I know from firsthand experience that a spiritual world including demons does indeed exist, and I also know that scientifically a higher being who is infinitely powerful existing logically has to be the case (it’s kinda hard to explain the reasoning, but basically there are multiple plains of reality/states of existence, and they all are confined to laws, but all of existence cannot logically be confined by laws, and laws cannot logically just be put in place by nothing, so there must be an ultimate plain of reality, one with zero confines and all power, and one that is sentient and responsible for creating all the laws put in place over the other plains. This is what God is. God essentially is the highest reality, hence why he refers to himself as “I Am”. He simply is! He is is!) anyway and I’ve looked into the other religions, and I still continue to do so, and you can argue I have a bias from being raised Christian, but Christianity is the only one that makes sense and strikes a chord in me, and I’ve just seen these little signs in life that point to it. Like I said sadly we’re not going to be able to understand everything we really wanna understand, and the Bible certainly doesn’t reveal and clarify as much as we’d like. But as long as you live your life with open eyes, a heart open to the truth, and just kinda *feel* reality, be in touch with it spiritually, I believe you will find the truth. I certainly don’t have the whole truth, not even close, but I think I get more in touch with it each year just by doing this. 11:02 I think your heart was in the right place but I think you may have been too intense about it. I think even though I get this was a very frustrating and even scary thing for you, I think God would’ve wanted you to calm yourself a little and just open your heart to him. He’d want you to, with a genuine heart, not angry at God, but just open to whatever the truth might be, ask him to show you the truth. Trying to filter away any biases or worries or angers you might have, just having a pure genuine intention. And be okay with it if he doesn’t show you everything you want to know right away. Trust that if he’s real, and if you keep asking this of him with a heart fully open to him, he will show you what you need to know one way or another, even if it’s just gradual, you know? What I’m wondering is, did you pray to him much about it on your journey of trying to understand him? Or was it mostly you seeking this understanding of him more so just on your own almost as if he’s a stranger alien separated from you? Anyway this was just my perspective as a Christian, I hope nobody minds. I like to find mutual understanding and have discussions with people whether they’re Muslim, atheist, Hindu, Christian, ex-Christian, Satanist, etc. Also it was a bit messy of a comment, but I hope regardless it makes some sense and you see it!! Oh also, when it comes to how we can truly have free will when it comes to whether we go to Hell or Heaven when God is all knowing and created us, nobody can really pretend to fully wrap their head around how that could work. When it comes to the nature of aspects of reality and God we often fall into the territory of frustrating, unsolvable paradoxes, whichever way you look at things, including the idea that we must not have free will and just be meaningless puppets with predetermined destinations because God was all knowing when he made us. That limits a being who anything is possible through. So I know us having true free will works somehow even though it makes absolutely no sense it my brain when I try to really think of the mechanics behind it.

You sure wrote a lot. You say you hope she finds the truth. How do you know she hasn’t found the truth already? Plus, you say you are a Christian. Are you sure that Jesus is a god? If this is not true then the claims of Jews and Islam must bother you. If Jesus is not god, then you have broken the first commandment and will go to hell as Islam says. So, are you sure that this man is a god?

Just so you know, your recommended approach definitely doesn't inevitably lead to the Christian God. Truth has always been the most important thing to me, and when I realized I didn't think Christianity was true I absolutely prayed to God about it. I asked him to show me the truth, whatever it may be. I tried my best to truly evaluate all different viewpoints I could find and see if they withstood scrutiny. To completely separate my anger at the humans that had boxed me into one view that I was told most be right from whatever God may actually be. The end result is that I'm very sure if there is a God it isn't the Christian one. Maybe there is a God that has led me to that belief. But I'd say one bit difference between myself and most Christians is that even though I feel I was very honest in my search and as diligent in seeking truth as I could be, I'm unwilling to say that what I've come to believe is true is in any way from a God. To be fair, maybe there are actually Christians or Hindus or Muslims that God has given an actual revelation that has shown them some truth about whatever God may actually exist. But I haven't seen anyone give any better reason for think that than they essentially really feel their belief is right and true and makes sense. And that just isn't anywhere close to enough reason for me to say that I've found more truth about God than any other person. It seems that if there is a God he just doesn't want to be found by some people. Or maybe there is no God and the people that claim to have found one are just mistaking parts of their thoughts and beliefs for some God. I don't really know how I would tell the difference as someone that hasn't seen anything I could truly say I think was from some God.

The best moment I had during my years as a Catholic was when I went to confession in 8th grade, when we were preparing for Confirmation - with our pastor, no less, who was known for old-fashioned, fire and brimstone sermons and had all of us CCD kids scared stiff - and I told him that I didn't really have anything to confess but that I was beginning to question my faith. I expected fully that he was going to be met with a very stern and intimidating lecture, and yet all he said was, "Good." I replied, "I'm sorry, Father, what?" He chuckled and said, "John, I recognize your voice. I know you and have known you since you were a baby. I'm the one that baptized you, don't forget. I've watched you grow up to be an intelligent and inquisitive young man, and I will tell you this: No one religion is for everyone. Religion itself is not for everyone. It's good that you're asking questions because I don't believe God gave us intellect and free will just to have blind Faith. He wants us to ask questions. Think about people who have made great changes, Galileo, Leonardo, Einstein, Martin Luther King. They challenged what was accepted as fact, they challenged what they knew to be unjust rules. I would feel that my part in your life as your pastor has been a success if you take an honest look at your beliefs and what you hold true and decide to leave the Church because it would be at intelligent decision. I know, you were expecting me to pull the hidden lever and drop the floor it and cast you straight to Hell. I'm not giving you any penance; you didn't do anything wrong. Go home and ask your questions until you have your answer. I have faith you'll choose what's right for you." It wasn't until years later talking to my parents about it that they revealed why they weren't surprised. Turns out, he had been raised Orthodox Jewish - his mother had been Catholic but converted to marry his father. When he realized that his mother's family's Catholic faith spoke to him more, he was disowned by most of his father's side of the family, so he fully understood the weight of questioning the faith you were raised in. And I will always appreciate that that final nudge to just go for it and leave Christianity came from the very man who baptized me into it.

That's why leaving Christianity and finding my way into Paganism just fit so much better - I have that personal connection what is above me but it's on terms that make more sense to me and I can relate to better. @@johnswoboda9809 Well, it sounds like you left a FALSE Christian religion that came from Satan, like Catholicisn, or Mormonism, or Jehovah's Witness, and Paganism is also a false religion from Satan. Satan has many false religions and fake gods that he uses to confuse people to keep us from finding the ONE True Living God of the Holy Bible and to keep us from accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, because Satan does not want us to be saved, he wants us to be eternally separated from God just like he is. But the ONE True religion in the world is God's True Church of believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible, who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and been spiritually born again by God's Holy Spirit by believing that Jesus was God on earth Who died to pay for our sins for us and resurrected from the dead to defeat eternal death for us and believe Jesus is coming back again to set up His eternal heavenly kingdom for all people who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior to live in for the rest of eternity, forgiven of their sins and reconciled with God. Paganism is another false religion from Satan, and actually it is synonymous with Godlessness. You cannot worship nature, the creation of God instead of worshipping the Creator Who created it, and you cannot worship any god of your choosing in the manner that you wish to worship. because that is false worship and idol worship. There is only ONE God, Savior and Creator of all things that exist, God Who gave us His Word, the Holy Bible. GOD IS the Father the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit all at once always the ONE True Living Eternal God of all men from all nations and all of creation. Thes is no other God. Read the entire Holy Bible for yourself and pray to God for yourself, and have a personal one-on-one loving relationship with God with no false religions from Satan in the way, and always ask God to give you wisdom knowledge and understanding of His Word the Bible, the Bible is a spiritual Book because God is a spiritual being and we are spiritual beings also, and it must be understood spiritually by God revealing the meaning to us. : ) Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Wow! Your story sounds almost identical to mine. Raised Southern Baptist, saved (baptized) at about 5 or 6, doubted if that was good enough at that such young an age too. Went to a Bible camp at about 15, moved me! burst out in tears at a prayer meeting during camp. Decided then to either become a preacher or work with kids as a youth minister. Dedicated my full effort to studying the Bible. But as I delve into it more, it just opened more questions and doubt. Met a girl in high school that was a Chistian, any girl I dated then had to be a Christian. I was still devout then. But as we dated, I began to question more, and me and my girlfriend grew apart as her faith was unchallenged. When I was introduced to the philosophy of Calvinism, and only a few are chosen to be saved (not all that believe), no matter what you do. Well, I already doubted my faith, but yeah, I had problems with that concept too. Me and my Christian girlfriend broke up when I was 19. By then I was pretty much an agnostic. But I kept going to church because of "Pascal's Wager", I thought I just could be being lured away by the Devil, so I needed to keep the faith to avoid Hell (unless the Calvins were right, and I had no choice anyway). The Calvin philosophy may have had more influence than I thought. The Idea that God was not a democratic god of freewill still doesn't sit well with me. A tyrannical God that demands blind thoughtless obeisance without thought or freewill or threat of eternal punishment (and your efforts may be in vain anyway)? I tried a few other churches too. I went to Jehovah Witnesses and even seriously thought about Judaism.

Christianity is not a religion but a lifestyle, sacrifice and something like a stigma attached to the early Christians So even those that call themselves christians don't live to the expectations these days, reason why we called christians by birth or circumstances don't go far or last long in the faith.. But because we want to continue in our sinful ways, we tend to dish away the cross and sacrifice to live the way we want. Remember, we can't cheat the judgement of God.... Except a man is born-again (genuine Born again in Christ) he can not see the kingdom of God. Kingdom of God is personal and it's only through Christ that you will understand it better Matthew 6:33 says, seek first the kingdom and his righteousness.... Without these two things you won't understand the rest, for Jesus Christ is the only way, Truth and life.. Meaning, you can only make the kingdom of God through Christ, you can only understand God and his ways through Christ. Seek Jesus Christ today personally, so you can be saved. Thank you.

The biggest problem the church has is that it has selective enforcement. It doesn't ignore fornication and adultery but it gave up fighting against them, and is instead fighting against something else that it THOUGHT was less popular. Took the road of least resistance hoping to retain its membership. That's a big reason why God is allowing the church to decline. When you ignore God's methods hoping to achieve his ends it just doesn't work. He takes it all away when you think you can do it better than he can. The church of today is learning that the hard way. They're losing members because they thought they knew better than God how to retain them.

There is no such thing as a "former Christian," as that would be tantamount to say, I am a "former son/daughter of my human parents," which is abject nonsense. You did nothing to bring yourself into the world, and the Christian does nothing to bring him/herself into God's family. Hence, you can do nothing to extricate yourself from either.

@@ChristianApologeticsProject Christian meaning from Google, "relating to or professing Christianity or its teachings". I do not submit to it's teachings anymore. Thus the 'former' part certianly comes into play. But hey, for fun, let's assume you're right and I'm still a Christian. 1. I'm still going to live the life I want without any worship to your God, sins and all still occuring. Will I still be accepted into heaven since I'm still Christian and in his family? 2. Are you saying that I can't remove myself from religion because, "Once you're in, you're in for life"? Then that kind of takes away from the 'free will' that your God supposedly offers. Or, if you're saying that we're all Christians because we're all God's children, then please explain that to the other religons. 3. You might want to keep a close eye on me. If I'm a Christian then you certainly don't want me representing you. "I'm Christian! Hail Satan!". See? It's bad P.R. isn't it? Me being bound to religion can only be a bad thing for both of us. That withstanding still shows I was a Christian because I related to it's teachings. Yes, I've since dropped those teachings, but I still once held them. Jumping back to the mockery, I'd mentioned in my original message that my religious family had caused me some issues. Seeing a complete stranger on the net apparently taking a swing at me too set me off. I'm not proud of that. I apologise again. I still consider myself a former Christian. That's my history.

@@Chemeleon86 Being born into God's family is not about YOU! It is irrelevant whether YOU "related" to any text, whether it is the Bible or some "Christian" author's book, whereby YOU thought that made you a Christian. Being born of GOD is what matters. If you're not born of GOD (literally "born from above," as Jesus taught in John 3:3-5), then you're not a Christian. Persons born of GOD remain Christians, because "salvation is of the Lord," and what GOD does, YOU cannot undo. People do not become Christians because of their own efforts, nor can they cease to be a Christian by their efforts. Salvation, or becoming a Christian, is by God's unmerited favor, whereby He chooses whom He will "according to the purpose of His will" (Eph 1:5). Hence, a Christian can no more undo what GOD has done to become a child of His than what you or I could do to undo what our human parents did to bring us to be as their sons or daughters. If our efforts to be or not be Christians was relevant, "then Christ died for no purpose" (Gal 2:21). That said, I accept your apology. It is not my intention to "take swings" at anybody, personally, but to destroy the foundations they set up "against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ" (2 Cor 10:5). What Kristi has erected here, in her own personal hostility, probably toward something similar to your experience, even though indirectly toward God and Jesus, is a fortress she has been deceived into believing will bring her solace. It will bring none, though. What she calls "deconstructing" is really nothing more than self-destruction, or the very thing Satan wants her to do. It makes his task easy if a person will simply destroy themselves without him having to do much more than plant a God-defying thought in her head, and then stoke her irrational emotions a bit, and before long she self-destructs beneath a cloud of nihilism, despair, and hopelessness. Let me finish by letting you know that I want you be a Christian, just not the wishy-washy, doctrinally-dumb variety found in so many "Christian" churches today. I want you to stand on the solid rock, who is Jesus, so that when an imposter, an apostate, or self-proclaimed atheist comes along, you can easily spot the fallacies in their supposedly sophisticated arguments that they claim is "rational" or "reasonable." That way you can stand and not fall for their deceitful tropes and conceited implications that they are a god. Until such time, have a great day! I look forward to conversing with you in the future, hopefully on a better footing that we got started.🙂

Can you believe I didn’t even dare change my religion till she passed away. Finally I could explore. I could read other books. She always said,”Anything you need to know is in the word of God”. And when I asked questions or made a friend from another religion. She would forbid me to have anything to do with their religion. “Don’t look into other religions, you will be led astray.” I was 45 years old when she passed away and I was free. For many years I searched for a church and religion that made sense. Long story short, I’m 70 years old and am finally admitting that I don’t believe the Bible is the word of God. And religion is man made. My sister is just like my mom and she gives me a hard time. She of course wants to save me from eternal hell fire. Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell

Hey.. Even I struggle sometimes with this doubt.. I m new in Christianity.. Always wondered what if I am not the choosen one of God.. This thing scares me a lot.. But all I knw i put all these questions in front of God including other questions like why in the old Testament he let ppl die in war, was so hard with israelites, why did he left them wondering in wilderness for so long, why he only choose certain ppl and many more.. Such questions always break my heart.. And trust I just laid those questions in front of Jesus Christ trusting him that he himself would solve these for me one day.. And he did.. And not through Bible.. But i dont knw how in my spirit I knw the answers now.. He gave me these answers through so many ways.. Made me understand things logically as I feel I can now see things through his perspective.. All i did was praise him and worship him.. Rest he did himself.. He showed me why certain ppl and he already knows who bcz he knows our heart.. Bcz not everyone wants to change and serve God.. They willfully choose satan as their master bcz they enjoy it.. They do not want to change.. Just do not.. U knw ppl who willfully accept satanism.. If they knw satan exist, they knw God too exist.. God showed me the power of praising him and worshipping him.. It makes things possible.. Even the disciples had to grow through so much bcz of these ppl who did not want to accept God as the Lord or themselves want to define God.. I was a narcissist.. So selfish.. But i always prayed to God to change me.. Yet so arrogant.. God humbled me, let me suffer for so long bcz of my own pride.. But showed me in the end all this.. I knw I have now changed a lot.. I know He is working on my heart and will continue to do so.. He will take out everything from me, pride, anger, greed, lust, anxiety, so on till I turn into a person he wants me to be.. I asked him the value of Jesus sacrifice for me in the beginning bcz I could not thank him for this whole heartedly.. To ans this he showed me my weakness, my daily small sins and my inability to correct so much in me.. And then I don know how he made me realise that Jesus Christ is the manifestation of his love and forgiveness for me every day.. Every moment.. And so I am so free.. I still have some questions that I want to understand.. But now I trust him that he will solve these too in his own timing, using his own ways.. Also he did many things in my life which I knw only God can do.. Still my many prayers were not answered.. So just lay your question at his feet.. And praise him and worship him.. Stop trying to figure things out with your own understanding.. He will first give the heart to understand.. Otherwise it will just be like a seed thrown on a Rocky ground.. Enjoy being with Him.. I m not questioning your faith or efforts.. But it too took me some yrs to understand.. Bcz my heart initially was not able to accept things from Bible.. But he made me go through pain, situations, struggles, solutions and prepared my heart to see things from his perspective.. Also this is the new thing he is teaching me that how my faith is more important than those laws in the Bible.. How Jesus is so important in this.. Jesus works directly on our hearts..

Your story resonates so much with my own - I always had questions since I was a kid, but never feeling strong enough to confront them. It wasn't until my late 20's that I started my quest for truth that lasted about ten years. By the time I reached age 39 - I was fully out, becoming at first a deist, and then finally atheist. Most of my family still doesn't have a clue about my non-belief. My dad is more liberal, and doesn't have an issue with it anymore. My mother - I can't tell, simple as that. The most important thing to remember, is that the number one weapon that religion uses is FEAR. Fear of death, fear of doing the wrong thing, fear of believing the wrong thing, ect. It's all based on fear of something that has never been proven - and never demonstrated to be true, while the masses still cling to 'the Emperor's new Clothes'. Everybody wants to feel safe - just in case it is true, but there is a huge price to pay for the charade. There are more moderate forms of Christianity - sure, but they're really just another version of 'choose your own adventure'. And what's the point of that? It's useless.

I'm also a fingerstyle guitarist, but my journey has been in the opposite direction - I experienced a powerful conversion of God's presence when I was aged 24, had a vision of Christ months later and have been on the Christian journey for decades. For me, my faith is not about fear, but on then contrary, about the deep love and meaning of Jesus and his presence with me. I respect other people's journeys, as no one can really walk in someone else's shoes.

100% relatable. No one who knew me in my youth could ever say that I wasn't ever "really a Christian". I spent my whole life until my late twenties doing everything that I could to spread Christianity and get to know God better. I had read through the entire Bible so many times that I was actually competing in national Bible knowledge competitions and placing in the top ranks for Bible knowledge. But in my mind twenties I started trying to understand all of the contradictions in the Bible that I had tried to ignore or rationalize and trying to understand all of the terrible things that God commanded his followers to do to other people in the Bible, and over the next few years as I stubbornly tried to keep believing in God I finally had to admit to myself that my religion was foolish and that I had wasted most of my life and lost out on so many opportunities and relationships because I wanted to follow the Bible rather than my intellect.

@@thereisnonegoodbutgodjohn363 At this point in my life unless a Christian has an intellectual argument I'm not really interested in hearing them just tell me to believe for no reason. When I point out the countless contradictions in the Bible like how Judas returns the silver and hangs himself in the book of John vs how he kept the silver and bought a field before falling in it in the book of Acts, christians refuse to explain those contradictions, and there are many more contradictions just like it, but I would be given examples all day if i started. Or when I point out that God openly encourages buying slaves and beating them to near death because they are their masters "property", or how God commanded the death of every canaanite baby and even civilians who beg to be spared, again Christians expect you to ignore those things, and there are many more questionable commands from God like those, but again I'd be naming them all day if I started. So unless you want to actually explain these things please don't just tell me "I have no compelling argument, just believe anyway". Thank you.

"You were never a true Christian (no true Scotsman fallacy) or you just want to sin." I've heard it countless times before, it has been thrown at me and at many other atheists before. The truth here is that, we are to educate each other, you have stated your reasons, and from a spiritual point of view, I have explained the hard Truth. But I'll will bring it with love. It is our duty to educate each other of the danger of sin and the life of Christ to save us from the damnation of sin. Will you say because, the word of God has told us to live certain way, to abstain from sin for our salvation unto our repentance that Christ doesn't love us?? The m*rderer needs Christ as much as the r*bbers in the street too and as much as we both do. There is no where in the world that a man will see a solution to sin than in Christ, because that is the purpose of his coming and dying on the cross. If you didn't know before, I am bringing it to your knowledge. You might have spent years in the church, with christian folks and engaged in so called christian doctrines, but the question is this... have you had encounter with Christ personally, like in a dream, vision or trans?? It's through this encounter that we can say for sure where we stand, because the Christ will let us know. @@BroneduChannel I've lived in the USA long enough to know about the gospel, I used to be a Christian just like you, that talked just like you and that had serious convictions just like you. The way you write reminds me of me when I was your age, but I've learned and I've grown since then. Before you throw scripture at me, the reality of what is written needs to be established, you're taking that part for granted, you're assuming that Jesus exists, that heaven exists, that hell exists, that sin is real, none of these things have any evidence behind them, all we have is people believing that they're real, but no tangible, verifiable, empirical evidence for any of them, how do we know any of that is real? I've never had any moments of trance either sweetheart, but I have heard of others that can go into a trance and manifest a flower in thin air; they have mastered the power of the mind that it is claimed they can manifest it in physical form. A Zen Buddhist made that extraordinary claim, I don't believe him because of lack of evidence, I don't believe Jesus is real for the exact same reason. But just like your quest is to leave Christianity, mine was to be saved from sin, because my conscience never liked it. If you say your sins are your natural form then why judge the m*rderer, and a r*bber?? no one ever likes what they do, that's how much sin is to be hated generally. I've being a Christian for a very long time, I even became a worker in the church, paid my tithe sometimes and sometimes shared the gospel the little I can but I was later at the edge of giving up like you have done, because the reason I came to the church wasn't achieved in me, (which was to stop my sinful nature of masturbating, fornication, pornography, anger, rage, envy, bitterness, lying and swearing tongue)... After a Man shared the gospel of salvation and repentance to me and I followed him to know Christ better to be taught of the word of God in an educational setting, it was then I realized 3 things, *some churches are far from God, the church is no more spiritual because they have mixed the church with the world. *Nations are far from God and a nation can be cursed to never hear from God again which will lead to multiplication of corruption and unrighteousness. *And lastly, I noticed I wasn't seeking Christ in spirit and in truth, and that I can not stop sin myself, no man has the gift and power to remove sin from a man, but only the Word of God - Jesus Christ, to be taught by the Holy spirit, and the holy spirit just like it's name is, cannot behold unrighteousness, unholiness or iniquity. So I don't know what you were being taught in your church in USA, but I'll tell you for sure, I have had an encounter with Jesus Christ myself personally, that's what has given me this confidence to speak openly, I am saved from all the sins I have listed and joyful in my heart to share more, only if you can humble yourself and seek Christ in spirit and truth. Just curious, where did you get the idea that God sends people to hell? He doesn't. God is a very patient God. He doesn't want people to go to hell, in fact, people have all their lifetime on this earth to take the opportunity to believe and trust in Jesus Christ, to make Him first in their lives and follow Him; and in return they are rewarded with the gift of eternal life by God after they die. He doesn't want His creation who is made in his image to spend eternity with the place set aside for Satan and his demons to spend eternity. 2 Peter 3:9 says that God is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any one of us should perish but that all would come to repentance. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 says God desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. What God does recognize is that many will perish because they will not repent according to Matthew 7:13-14. If you do not repent, you are sending yourself to hell, not God.

@@crystaljones5648 Thanks for your question. It came from my understanding that god was omniscient (all knowing) and that god was responsible for creating life. That would mean that god creates people that he knows will spend eternity in hell. I came to realize that god's "love" is more abusive and conditional. It's like he was saying "You are free to love me if you choose, but if you do not then I'll lock you in the basement (or worse actually)." The concept of a loving god and a hell are not logically consistant. What I find curious is how we know god is loving? If god was a deceptive god, one that was jealous and vengeful, he could still "write" the bible so that people would be deceived into thinking he was a kind of loving god. How would we know the difference?

No matter which of the 2 views are true, based on what we see in Jesus, God is just and good. If God predetermines people for hell, I agree with you, this is not a just or loving God, but rather and omnipotent and omniscient devil. Hell isnt a problem as well since if you don't like the "eternal conscious torment" view of hell, you can hold to "annihilationism", which is basically - the lost will be destroyed at one point and stop existing. I followed the same journey as you and Kristi in my early 20's. Understand this: torture is compatible with neither love nor forgiveness. You know this, in your whole being, this statement stands on its own merit. So a god that would invent eternal torture for failure to believe in it, understand it properly or worship it is a despot. If there was such a god, it would be utterly unworthy of human adoration. You and I would no more worship it than worship someone who abuses animals just because they have the power to torture something into compliance. Hell is a human invention used to control people. Teaching young children that they are destined for Hell just for being born unless they believe a bunch of unverifiable claims is flat out child abuse. They resort to that because they don't have anything else to keep people trapped, the claims simply don't hold up on their own. I'm sorry you were a victim of that. Congratulations on finding your way out, you are very special to be able to break free so young. Trust yourself and don't look back. Your own heart is better than the religion you were raised with. This is the heavy yoke of religion which places many followers in peril. Focusing on fear, shame & guilt instead of JESUS CHRIST. The Gospel is SIMPLE to understand. Jesus took care of all your sins on the cross with his EVERLASTING bloodshed. Past present and future. The Holy Spirit seals all believers for eternity. You can now rest in God's GRACE instead of trying to keep yourself "right" with works, which is the trap Satan wants us to fall into. Either becoming overly prideful egomaniacs, or perpetually broken & ashamed to the point of walking away. Jesus says "my yoke is light". We strive in discipleship because it pleases our heavenly Father and helps our walk in this world avoid pitfalls, not because we have to maintain a scale or "teeter totter" of Salvation status. I really hope this encourages you to not walk away from your free gift of salvation. If you get the chance you should check out "Pastor Joseph Prince" on youtube and see if that helps you as well. I then began to work with a different Pentecostal church that was a little more liberal and appropriate for me, but my questions were never satisfactorily addressed. As a result, I began to study mysticism with a group called the Gnostics at college after class. That didn't work though; I felt better for a few months, to be honest, until I turned 21 and declared my atheism, followed by my agnosticism. Now I consider myself non-cognitivist. Since you were raised in the south, which I know is very religious, I can relate to you. I was raised in a Caribbean nation where religion is extremely important, and our flag even shows a verse from the Bible. so big is the g0d, you cannot even define it properly. If you give it a try, we always hear what you BELIEVE about the g0d. We never learn what you KNOW about the g0d, because knowledge can be domonstrated, and you have nothing of that sort. your g0d is a vague claim about 1 form of Middle Eastern magic. the g0d is not defined, let alone supported with evidence, or with just 1 testable claim. That's why not even the most gifted cave painters drew any cross in any cave ever. Nice lions, or just o.k. wolves, etc. But never a cross! A shape our children can draw! If it is already invented as a symbol, that is. the g0d, IF it exists (and we have n0 reason to think so), let at least 10 000 human generations follow false g0ds. THEN the g0d made a very limited debut in 1 tiny corner of 1 region. And even these days, the g0d somehow cannot reach all mankind with the w0rd. And when it reaches UNindoctrinated 5th graders, the idea of the g0d is always laughed off the stage, no matter how hard a well trained professional liar (priest, past0r, imam, etc) rants about magic. Critically thinking KIDS intellectually tear the g0d another one with almost 0 effort. that's why religi0n has to get those kids as young as possible. What a big g0d! without lies, religi0n DIES.

I’m an ex Christian too… for me getting out of faith was a rebirth experience, as much as getting into it.
@ChristianApologeticsProject Жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as an "ex Christian." If you ever were a Christian, then you would have known that. But, as the Apostle John wrote of people just like you, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us" (1 Jn 2:19). Also, since "the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable," then you had no say in the "rebirth experience." Only God does, which Jesus compared to the blowing of the wind. "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit" (Jn 3:8). So, while you think you're now free from something that you were never apart, the reality is, you're still enslaved in the bonds of sin, stacking up God's wrath against you, and if he does not move by his grace to set you free, you have an eternity in hell waiting for you, for your impenitent and hard heart. Now, go ahead, and start mocking, and that is expected too.

Watching you is the most amazing ,beautiful testimony I've ever seen in my life 😊 I'm so thankful that I have found you. I have been away from the church for 10 years and have felt guilty about it. I just finished a beautiful 7 year relationship and pulling away from the church was partially responsible for the end of our relationship but finding you and your brightness and enthusiasm for your new life inspires me to be happy again 😊 Thank you so very much... In my 40s I took up learning about philosophy, reason, logic, evidence, epistemology, etc. as basically a hobby, and then quite accidentally I began to reevaluate my own beliefs using these new techniques. Even as a Christian of nearly 40 years, intellectual honesty was important to me. Long story short, statements like "God's ways are higher than our ways" and "God works in mysterious ways" and "God is sovereign" etc etc were no longer intellectually satisfying. I was an atheist about six months after starting that little adventure. I love hearing stories from young folks who found their way out. It takes the edge off the frustration and anger I sometimes feel having taken so long to do the same. I wish the Internet had been around 30 years sooner. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story.
