I would argue that classical liberalism shares a lot of the same tenets as classical conservatism. In other words, many conservatives today are more neo-conservatives than traditional conservatives. The idea that liberalism and conservatism are two opposite ends of the spectrum is a false dichotomy perpetuated by our political system and media to give people something to argue about so that they pay less attention to what is actually going on. I'd argue that it's more libertarian than anything, although people act like that's an insult, because my god, how could anyone in their right mind be a libertarian? (Again, another group that people tend to lump together as if everything one libertarian says must be espoused by all.)

If people panic and start yanking money out and run to the bank and try to pull out all their cash we will be in trouble. This is a PLANNED reset. Planned in 1964. Then comes a group starting with Bush 41 who believe in corporate installed Oligarchies over nation-state governments. America isn't the richest country in the world. Most countries have 1-2 trillion debt. Look at this clock and you will understand. Don't believe them when they say it is Wall St and the banks. It is the Federal Reserve IMF bank and the DEBT. it is important we work and even open businesses. This is why the push for entrepenuaers as they merge the 3 central banks of North America and work on the underlying value of the currencies there will be shocks to the system. A giant super economy doesn't die over night. 2021 is the goal for currency conversion THEY PLANNED. This much debt wasn't planned. When Reagan left office we were a half trillion in debt. Just wait to hear their excuses. They know and if fact planned it. This falls squarely in politicians laps. People who understand and remember normal historical immigration levels. Reagan gave 11 million Amnesty with the promise of a fenced secure border. Well then Bush 41- Obama come along and decide American kids won't get the American Dream. People who care about our kids & grandkids futures care. what a tax payer owes on just this national debt would buy a house.. Obama spent more than the last 43 POTUS combined. You will see the beginning of what this means when this debt clock hits 20 trillion. www.usdebtclock.org

Rationalism is better than constitutionalism. Freedom from institutional discrimination (yes that phrase is overused but I'm talking about the real kind) is more important than the freedom to believe in some magical man in the sky regardless of what previous generations thought. @@thomashidalgo6975 look in american both the republican and democrat parties, btw the only two parties, are funded by the same corporations inorder to keep the laws in favour for these corporations. If the people in the government are dependant on these corporations for their income they will do what these corporations want. So if these corporations put pressure on the politicians then laws will go in favour of these corporations. This is common and causes corpuption because a non democratic organisation like corporations are gaining control and power over the government which is meant to be democratic so democracy weakens in the name of capitalism. Then you say "stealing" from corporations in order to redistribute wealth so that poor people who are subject to buying food, clothing and shelter from these corporations can actually afford it if it is not already free like it should be. Furthermore, these corporations are also "stealing" from their workers because the fact that a profit is made means that the workers are not paid all the value they added to the product or service therefore they have been stolen from.

"free like it should be" lmao so people should work for free, you dont live in this planet or you dont even know the history of your country. "these corporations are also "stealing" from their workers" you don't even know what capitalism actually is. you live in a progressive fantasy where the corporations that invest in jobs, goods and products are the evil ones and the government or democracy is a victim, this never happens in any country, including my own. where do you think the salaries come from? the only thing you want is that the state steals to do charity with other people' pockets and you think you are morally superior because you care about "poor people", you think that poverty is because a few are rich just because you don't know how wealth is multiplied, I really suggest you to get out of that mediocre mentality you have and look for more information about it. the only problem I see in the united states is its gigantic state that kills the middle sector with taxes, that's why everybody is leaving new york and going to places where taxes are not so high. The only enemy of any country will always be its own government. that is why countries with more economic freedoms live better and those with less live worse. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index_of_Economic_Freedom whatever you do, never go against free market, believe me you don't want that for your country.

@@thomashidalgo6975 i cba debunk all of that but you can find a ton of KZbin channels that actually provide sources and that these sources are credible, make shore that they are, one example is second thought, instead of a what appears to be a purely capitalist content area you view. Then saying I don't know what capitalism is, is a very naive take just like me having all the opportunity in the world to say that you dont know what socialism is. FYI I'm also not American, I just have knowledge of American as a case study and the clear failures of capitalism such as having a lower life expectancy than Cuba, more empty homes than homeless people, a secret police that has incited countless civil wars on the side of a dictatorship government simply because they are capitalist. The American government seems to want to do little about it and instead lower taxes like trump did in order to let Jeff bezos and elon musks 100 or 200 billion dollar networth inflate. In the face of evidence like this I am unable to then say the government is bad. Furthermore considering the government as something bad is stupid because they idea, in a democracy as we have it in the western world atleast, is that the people elect a representative that they agree politically with in order to have the country go in favour of the people. But the American government seems to be ignoring the millions of homeless people in their country especially when they have the resources to attend to it

Her explanation to me was that she started the conversation, therefore it was rude for people to try and one-up her particular sob-story. I don't disagree but her reasoning in the end was the fact that she CLEARLY had it the hardest so there shouldn't have been a competition in the first place. I left the left after Highschool when I saw how everyone at my school was (very liberal school, we apparently had "racists", and I'm christian first before my political ideology) I thought the left was correct and stood up for everyone just like a Christian should. But more and more I saw conservatives would identify as Christians and defend people regardless of identity, and I saw that liberals would bash me for being Christian, and would always insult my beliefs and have a condescending tone as if I were unintelligent. And if I happened to disagree with something like say abortion I shouldn't have an opinion because I'm "shoving the Bible down" their "throats". Even though I never used a word of scripture for my arguments

I'm an agnostic I agree with you 100%. The people who are condescending towards you believe that science has gave us a exact understanding of creation. Next time ask them what came before the big bang, why was everything in a hot dense state to begin with? I believe in your right to express yourself just as I express mine, and I was sickened as well how the left treated "traditional" values. I'm a conservative now after being labeled a racist for being white.

Watching this video provided some relief for me. Things for me began to change when I realized that most of the liberal whites I encountered did not truly have my interest at heart. Perhaps as a black American they saw me as a victim of an amorphous ambiguously racist system in need of their protection when I NEVER saw myself as a victim to begin with. I have grown tired of this played-out victim narrative of every 'minority' group, including my own. It's like they're in desperate need for self-affirmation so they become advocates for every group and demand everyone to be nice. That spells a very parasitic relationship.

@Dave-cf4vd7 жыл бұрын
I also left the left, but on reflection I realize my positions haven't changed in the last 15 years - the Left has. For instance, in 1986 Harry Reid passed an anti-illegal immigration bill to protect american middle class wages, safety, etc. What he wrote is nearly identical to Trump's position. Bill Clinton held a similar view in the mid 90's, that not controlling borders leads to stagnant wages, higher crime, etc. The Left used to be a champion of the average worker, helping Unions, etc. Now look at the TPP (partly authored by Obama and Hillary): a major power giveaway to giant corporations, which undermines decades of civil right and environmental progress, and screws the working class. If you haven't read the TPP - it is shocking, no matter your political view. Then there's Islam. I actually value equal rights, religious freedom, gay rights, free speech. All of these things are the literal antithesis to the tenets of Islam. So why should I support and foster that culture? Why is it racist to criticize a belief system that in many ways mirrors what we saw in Germany 70 years ago? I really feel like the modern Left is unprincipled, has no idea of it's roots, and does not know the value of what they have.

Actually.. the quote itself is indefinite as well. If you are opposed to choosing between 2 evils in a situation the result could lead to evil regardless. If I had to choose between saving 1000 people while forsaking a 100 some would still be upset about my decision. Had I done nothing 1100 people would be dead regardless. I often wonder whatever happened to judging someone by the content of his/her character? It seems like the new "civil" rights movement is based on Malcolm X's early works--the new activists conveniently forget that when Malcolm X came back from his trip to the Middle East, he espoused a view of peace and said that the white man is not the "devil."

Sadly the point was missed entirely. This is not an issue of left or right. What really matters is the rise of authoritarianism in both parties, with the far-right takeover of the Republican party in the 1980s, and more recently with the Antifa, BLM and similar groups taking over the democratic party. As a hardline progressive (I supported Bernie Sanders in this past election!) I agree a lot more with a right wing libertarian than your typical violent Antifa rioter (obviously not on economics, though). If you really want change, stop the bipartisan rise of authoritarianism. Both sides of the aisle should be united against legislation such as the Patriot Act, the expansion of NSA spying, the war crimes committed by our government in our name, and the slow destruction of our civil liberties.

+Jahmai Namok Where to start. They want to totally destroy planned parenthood, an organization the majority (59%) of Americans approve of. They're still going after gay marriage even when a majority of the Republican base (54%) has turned in favor of it. After Sandy Hook, over 90% of Americans supported a universal background check bill. Republicans filibustered it and Mitch Turtle McConnel bragged about it. (A UBC does not interfere with second amendment rights.) 57% of Republicans want Christianity to be the national religion. This is a clear violation of the establishment clause of the first amendment. Several far right wingers and Evangelical pastors have given funds to the Lord's Resistance Army, a Ugandan terrorist organization. Want more?

I used to call myself a liberal, a progressive. I supported gay rights, I stood up for minorities; all of that stuff. And I still do, but I don't associate with the label of "liberal" or "progressive" anymore precisely for this reason. The groups, movements-whatever you'd like to call them- have changed their ideals so drastically that they've become saturated with racism and prejudice, especially towards groups they deem "privileged" (ex. whites, straight people, "cis/cisgender" people, Christians, etc.) and I don't want to associate with that kind of hate. I was just talking to a friend earlier today about how those same kinds of people are the ones crying that people "oppress" them because, for example, they're gay, or they're transgender, or they're black, but then they turn right around and hurl insults and prejudice back at their alleged attackers. Two wrongs don't make a right; that's what I've always stood by. I guess in a way, I don't label myself as anything anymore. When people ask me what kind of political position I take, I just tell them that I believe in rights for everyone, regardless of race, sex, and religion. As long as you're nice to me and respect me, I'l be nice to you and respect you. Simple as that. The moment someone starts attacking me for being white, that doesn't make me want to "check my privilege" and agree with them, that puts me on the defensive because I feel like I am experiencing prejudice for the color of my skin. I understand that incidents do exist where white people gain unfair advantages over black people in some situations, and that's not right. However, there are other instances where races such as black people gain advantages over white people, and that's not right either. Privilege is all relative. That's not "reverse racism" by the way, it's plain racism. Racism is judging ANYONE by the color of their skin, whether black, white, or anything in between. Just my two cents on the matter.
@forensicwow16397 жыл бұрын
Sierra Martin And why do they put women, blacks, Hispanics, Transgenders, gays, all in one group called the minority?? That's like me coming up to someone and telling them their worthless, because of they're black, because they're a woman, because they're gay, because they're transgender. They don't look at real issues. For example the wage gap between men and women, and they talk about how much they make yearly on an hourly wage. Now if you're a single mom who has to call off because of her kids more often then the men dude. You're going to make less money. We don't know how the study was conducted, and woman are still fairly new to the workplace and lots of businesses pay you based on your experience to work. So if you're a man who worked their for 10-20 years and you're a woman who worked their for 2, you're not going to get paid as much. I'm not saying that a wage gap doesn't exist, I'm just saying they need to look more carefully into it. I don't want something to go through that gives a set wage where you can't get paid lower or higher. You do a good job, you should get paid higher than the person who doesn't. Then the thing that says a white man is more likely going to get hired then a black person, did they look into why? The majority of black people comes from inner cities, and ghetto places and act ghetto, white people do too, but if a black man or white man or any man comes into an interview who acts like the thug on the street, I can guarantee you, that you're not going to get the job. I'm not saying that employers are racist, I'm saying racism is not always the issue here. Plus it's going to be a lot tougher to crack down on employers. It's their choice too or not too hire you and they can pick different reasons not to hire them.

Man is it a ride to see Dave's show change over time. To be honest I wasn't really agreeing with The Rubin Report on a whole lot: I usually watched right-leaning channels like Steven Crowder and howtheworldworks but became concerned that I was creating an echo chamber for myself so I began watching Dave to see politics from a different perspective. However during this election, I began to notice a change. Dave began to make interviews mainly composed of right of center folk and made a lot more videos that would be favorable for conservatives, no doubt to accommodate his newer right leaning viewers so I didn't think of it much. He still made videos where he expressed his views on classical-liberalism now and then but they started getting less views and a more negative reception, many comments complaining on the lack of right leaning content. Afterwords Dave began to make videos on an odd selection of topics which were Hillary conspiracies that many right leaning channels didn't make, save for conspiratorial ones like Alex Jones and Stefan Molyneux. That's when I realized Dave was pandering to his conservative audience which was odd because his left leaning viewers are the majority demographic. I know its crazy to see a conservative concerned over a channel no longer being left of center, but remember I watched this man's channel for that reason, to see things from a different point of view. Now it's crazy to see him collaborate with Prager which is very conservative. I doubt Dave is now right of center as he still expresses his own classical liberal views on twitter. I heard Prager offered to renovate his new studio so I guess that it would explain this. I just hope that Dave won't turn into another run of the mill anti-sjw channels as those are a dime a dozen now a days. His willingness to get his own views across was why I watched him. Will I still watch him? Of course, his content is more "agreeable" to me now, but that means that I will lack a rational left leaning channel to watch. Does anyone know of any left of center channels that aren't third wave feminists?

We should all be thinking America first as Americans before we start aligning ourselves with certain political groups (namely dem and republcan). Make decisions based on your conscious and not your political affiliation. Vote for who and what is just for all Americans instead of whats just for only yourself or those like you. We are a sovereign nation with lots of enemies and problems to worry about. It's almost impossible to defeat a great nation like ours when it's citizens are united, but it's also easy for a great nation to fall if it's divided.

that's because the far right and left are both pretty shitty, libertarian is by far the best with little exception, in fact I'd argue that a well thought out small libertarian government is as good as it gets short of every person being so intelligent and responsible that they can be self governing without any state at all.

"....at least conservatives seem to know more about our laws and politics. Too many of these annoying protesting "liberals" are ignorant and have no idea what they're even talking about or what they're protesting, and they seem eager to shove they're personal politics down your throat, and label you if you don't agree with them. " I disagree vehemently. Look at popular conservative media like Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, and Fox News... full of lies, deliberate disinformation, and fear mongering. To argue that liberals know less about laws and politics than the conservative masses is to ignore, for instance, the fact that Fox News listeners are actually less knowledgeable about actual reality than those who listen to other news outlets like CNN, MSNBC, etc. So you can diss liberals all you want for emotional thinking and personal politics, but lets not pretend conservatives are better informed. Although, now that I type it, the idea that liberals are trying to shove their personal politics down anyone's throats more than conservatives are is laughable.

People call that "centrist," if politically you think that there are aspects of both left and right which have a point and can work. :D The sad thing is that there are people who hate on centrist, saying that "Centrists never get anything done." I always disagree, because the extreme notion in the right is that there should be no government regulations (Or even no government.) and people will be able to resolve their issues themselves (A strong country needs to be united in at least some aspects, and some regulation should exist to stop crazy/greedy people from growing too powerful.), while the left viewpoint brought to the extreme is that everything should be regulated and everything should be controlled by the government (No wonder current left is pulling themselves into authoritarianism (The left has gotten extreme enough so that they're actually trying to touch this threshold.). Center should always exist to try and keep the balance between both viewpoints. For a successful democracy and country, having both sides is crucial as otherwise things will go to shit. Right now tho, I'd say that losing the extreme left would be useful, because there are enough people on the "right" or "center-left" who could take over the left side. All we can do is to wait and hope that the extreme left keeps eating itself as it has been doing, so that those marxist bastards would get as much hate in our society as neo-nazis do (Or even more.)..

I voted for Hillary, I'm not ashamed to admit that. But I am ashamed of having done it. I was in the same boat as Dave here, I thought I understood the group I believed I was truly a part of. In truth, its become clear to me that, the views I had, were not appreciated, sensationalism and fear mongering was. So yes, I am conservative now, and come 2020 Election, if Trump does run for re-election, I know who I'm voting for. I was blinded by what group I thought I was a part of, and not what was actually being said. The experience has helped me think more critically, and I'm glad for it having happened. God Bless America

Yes, if you want to oppose sensationalism and fear-mongering, you definitely want to support the guy who calls all unfavorable reporting "fake news", calls immigrants "animals" (and gets his crowd to chant that in unison) and bringers of death and destruction, calls a scientific theory held by 95% of the relevant scientists a "Chinese hoax". But what he lacks in even-handedness, he makes up for in blatant corruption.

R Wm open for debate that claim? Why do you think that president trump is racist? Because what he has done (his actions), or because the media is saying so? Where did you first hear that he was? Was it CNN, fox news, ABC? I stopped watching TV beacuse of this very reason. Im not telling you what to do, because everyone should mind their own business, but Im suggesting you to not believe one side of the story before knowing the full details. The internet is the way.

Emilio R Did I say he is a racist? If I were to make that claim, I would cite his exclusion of Black people from his housing projects and his reference to Mexican immigrants (although subtly ) as animals and coaxing a crowd to chant the same.

baryonyx31 it's biased garbage. In the days of Jim Crow, if you were black, you didn't have the choice of "finding another baker", you'd be screwed and denied service. We need anti-discrimination laws.
@NormalTheBand7 жыл бұрын
We do not need anti-discrimination laws. what we need is less government interference. The problem in the Jim Crow days came from GOVERNMENT MANDATED discrimination. It was literally illegal not to discriminate and those brave black men and women who stood up to that in civil disobedience proved how stupid those laws were. Once those laws were taken out of the books, businesses did what was best for their profits and desegregated. Those that didn't shut down. Businesses should have the right the discriminate for any reason at all and they deserve to fail for being shitty prejudice human beings. Keep the government out of it. If you feel like you are being labeled a hooligan unjustifiably, going out and acting like a hooligan doesn't help your cause.

John Brady The power of language. I’ve explained many times to my liberals friends that the politics have shifted further and further to the left, putting most of us old liberal somewhere in the the center. Unfortunately it’s not something you can force them to experience, it’s something they need to see on their own. My brother is a trans man and we were both raised by a black mom, it took him a few times being called a transphobic racist before he’d admit there was a problem.

For a long time I thought that "conservatism" is just a bunch of old guys (figurly speaking) who hold on to old traditions, that always yells at the younger generation, which is trying to change life for the better. "Do not do anything, everything is OK" - this is conservatism for me. Progressivism in my eyes is a movement that must advance science and technology, advance medicine and education, fight with poverty, and, in general, make life better by learning from the mistakes of the past and preserving traditions as a cultural heritage. Skin color, race, sexuality - all this should not matter, we are all humans. I didn't count liberty, freedom of speech and etc., cuz this is basic rights of every human. And never, NEVER change the history, no matter how painful truth is. People shouldn't be offended by it, they must learn from it, from mistakes, and build better future for new generation. This is progressivism for me. But i would never though that "progressivism" will turn into what it means in present.
