you’re both absolutely right, you/we don’t need a big house, the top car, the fancy handbag, the status, as we do take it with us, we won’t remember those things, we remember experiences and my kids (now older teens), remember the camping holidays and trips. Creating memories is/ are precious

Hi Ed. You are saying that the status in no longer needed in your new life in Costa Rica. I am kucky and I have spent 3 weeks there a year ago. The house you are living now is so out of the real Costa Rica mate! These people are poor up there. I have travelled on east and west coasts. I have seen the poverty everywhere. Locals are living in the sheds, roof made out of plastic bin bags, no electricity is the standard in some places. You are pretending to give up the status , but up there in your new built house you are like the local oligarh buddy. I would say that ok... kids are growing surounded by nature , but their status of European expats living in the modern house could spoil them even more than you guys are predicting. The difference is bigger than the posh kid from Chelsea 5 bed house vs kid from the London council estate as both kids have pretty similar livestyle anyway, In the Costa Rica your kids are growing in the bubble of ultra rich instead.
