Thank you dear peachie. You may not know, but you actually saved my life. I'm 15, and Nigerian, and had always been on the larger side. According to Nigerian beauty standards I look appealing (thick thighs and larger boobs) but I started watching Kpop at age 11 and I constantly compared my figure to all the pretty men and women there. I have always experienced seasonal depression since I was a child, and I as I grew older and started puberty I disassociated a lot envisioning myself out of my body due to how much I hated it. I had no peace, and I tried so many home remedies (because skincare is expensive here) and diets to "fix" myself that I hurt myself multiple times. Finding your channel randomly was a breath of fresh air. You thought me how to make things work for myself and not bother how to fit into a standard. I'm super grateful, that now I can look into the mirror and see myself and not an imposter. Thank you for everything. My heart is ever grateful. May God bless you and everyone you love!!!

This video made me realize why some shirts make me want to cry. I have a very masculine body with super broad shoulders, narrow hips, smaller chest and butt, and a muscular physique. If I wear shirts with low, broad necklines, I feel elegant and glamorous. If I wear anything with a crew neck--especially if it's a tighter shirt--I literally look like a boy. I'm gonna mercilessly cull my closet and get rid of everything that makes me self conscious. Thank you so much for this video, peachie!

Its kind of depressing all of these stylings are just trying to recreate an hourglass. Those with less prominent waist need to draw attention and those with a big tummy need to hide it in order to look good in clothes? Wear what you want ladies, lots of people think what others find unattractive is beautiful. You dont need to hide your tummy or fake a shape.

I mean it doesn't say you have to do it, it says for those who specifically want to minimize or maximize certain areas. I'm sure people know they can wear what they want, that's basically what this video is. There's nothing wrong with wanting to de-emphasize or emphasize certain features.

Over the years, I've learned a lot about dressing my odd figure, but it's taken a lot of research and time. I'm glad to see a video that can help people who struggle with the same thing! I've got a prominent belly that is a B shape when you ignore my bust; I've got a big bust, big butt and hips, and big/wide shoulders. I'm short (5'2") and also have a very short torso, so high waist pants look awful on me. I've also got wide calves and small feet, and I lean toward soft fabrics (knits) because it's a texture and comfort thing. I recently picked up sewing in order to make clothes that fit how I want, so this video was a really nice reminder. :)

I honestly think this is the best body type system I have ever seen (not that I've seen that many but still XD)! I really love how comprehensive and "open-minded" this masterclass is! I love how you're not telling people how to wear clothes to achieve some arbitrary "beauty ideal"; but instead you're giving practical advices on how clothes (cut, fabrics, colors, etc.) work and will visually impact the body shape so people can make informed decisions based on THEIR personal preferences. You also break down everything, with clear explanations, visuals, and an impressive attention to details. The only thing it doesn't take into account is the overall heigh of a person and their vertical proportions. Or maybe I missed it from the video. I suspect people with the same body type but different heigh and vertical proportions might have different "challenges" when it come to clothing. For instance, I'm 4"11 and I have a shorter torso (around 1/3 torso, 2/3 bottom half) that will affect the overall visual aspect of clothing on my body differently than someone who is 5"3 or 6". You're one to something fantastic. You could probably develop it further by making one video for each specific body part, with more advices and more visual exemples/explanations. If you feel like it, of course. Congratulations and thank you PS: according to your system I'm a petite XSn or ASn. I already knew several of your tips but I still learned some and this comes from experience after YEARS of trials and errors. It's great to get some validation but also to learn more and to know some people won't have to struggle as much :)

Honestly this was super helpful, and I like the breakdown for the general body parts. I find the Kibbe system too restrictive because it doesn't take into account bellies and waists and hips. A lot of the other systems are about fitting your body into a set "Type" based on what's closest, but I found this was really great for practical tips on how to dress specific body parts. I also found that I was already using your recommendations intuitively, and it felt affirming to hear that I do, actually, already know how to dress my body. Great video! ♥

A-shapes & dark bottoms~ I think it's flexible. For example, just make sure your top color is the same or lighter than the bottoms, it's not that you have to wear only super dark washes to balance out your figure ♡

so helpful compared to the typical body shapes which only take the front into consideration. was always told growing up that I was curvy and my mom always told me my shoulders were broad! but it turns out, from the front, I’m more of a rectangle or barely an hourglass. with this system, I found out I’m an H (or almost an X) with normal shoulders but also dB! so it gives an accurate representation of the evenness (from the front) but the curve from the side which absolutely needs accommodating when buying clothes lol

I can't really tell if my legs are thick, though. 🤔 Anyways... 👤 *Shoulders (normal):* ✅ tops w/ structured shoulders, fabric that holds up, inwards seam, intricate designs/cuttings, puritan collar (sweater vest w/ blouse), narrow V-neck polo blouse, narrow square neckline, halter tops ❌ oversized/drop shoulders, soft/lightweight fabric, outwards seam, boat/rectangular neckline, puffed sleeves, tops w/ tight neck (turtleneck/knitted sweater) 🤰🏻 *Waist/belly (b):* ✅ high-waist skirts, half-tucked blouse w/ pants, skirts w/ wide pleats, loose tops w/ tight bottoms, floor-length bottoms, pleated A-line shorts, structured garments, straight-waist/relaxed clothes, matte fabrics ❌ high-waist pants, narrow pleated skirts, tight tops w/ tight bottoms, capri-length bottoms, pleatless shorts, excessive fabric/designs at midsection, tight outfits, sheer/shine/soft/clingy/knitted fabrics 🦵🏻 *Hips (A) & legs:* ✅ relaxed pants (around hips/thighs), better-draping fabrics, darker colors, blazers/cardigans (w/ tights pants), blouse w/ pulled-out side edges, pants w/ a >2-cm waist belt, V-curved yoke, waistline dart, wide waistband, relaxed fit; side-slitted dresses, sandals, cropped t-shirt w/ straight relaxed pants, A-lined/flare mid-calves-length skirts, platform shoes, thick soles ❌ tight pants, wide-leg pants, lighter colors, embellished bottoms, loose wide pants 🚶🏻♀ *Bust:* ✅ shine/glossy fabrics, blouse w/ bows/ruffles/lace designs/chest pockets, double-breast design ❌ tight clothes, clingy fabrics, low necklines, corsets 🧍🏻♀ *Longer & leaner figure:* ✅ long tops w/ shorts/short skirts, long bottoms w/ short tops, short tops w/ short bottoms, long tops w/ long bottoms of similar color, shoes w/ color similar to bottoms, seven-eight cropped/floor-length high-waist pants w/ heels/platforms, fluid fabrics, pointed/squared toe ❌ long tops w/ long bottoms, hard fabrics Now, I might have to make a spreadsheet, cause there's stuff that's not 100% compatible (like, I can't wear a shiny top to accentuate my bust, cause it's also gonna accentuate my big belly).

@Devi-gn2cs2 жыл бұрын
Trying to define a waist that isn't there is indeed counterproductive. Especially if the outfit creates a horizontal line at the waist: the waist will appear even wider. Instead, wear clothing that naturally follow the lines of your body. You will look more elegant this way.

Thanks for another comprehensive body proportion styling video! I’m an A-S-n when not bloated and an A-dB-n when bloated. I have been gaining weight and unsure of how to dress my new body shape. I realized I can wear crew neck tops as long as they’re drop shoulder or have a cut-out around the bust. And I’ve been right to avoid high necks and turtlenecks! I’m curious about the wide leg denim, though. I actually haven’t purchased jeans in over a year, but I have tried some on and they never fit over my butt or leave a big gap when they do. The v-curve yoke and waistband tips are a lifesaver! But as for the wide leg, I feel like straight cut pants that lean more tapered when actually worn would accentuate my big thighs. I have normal calves and a big bust so have been eyeing wide leg cuts to balance things out. I think trouser-wide jeans will still be okay, but extra wide will be a little too much. Hwasa is a great example of how wide leg jeans can still flatter A shape if it’s moderate and there’s balance on top. I also learned flare is a horrible cut on me. 😅

I’m an A/X ( depending on my current weight and bust size)- S with T shoulders. I might be biased towards measuring because I went to uni for costuming but I still think it’s super helpful to understand your proportions and also clothing sizes. Usually mass measuring takes place about every 10 years or so and sizes are determined by that ( there’s also a thing called vanity sizing where companies just call a size 12 an 8 to make people feel better in their clothing). Companies based in different countries will have different sizes based on different people which is one reason why you might need to size up or down in certain brands. Knowing that you might have a slightly longer hip or wider shoulders than the average of people ( not even the average person… it’s more like measuring 100 000 people and taking the average measurements for construction. It doesn’t even mean that one single person in that group has those measurements 😅) can help you find cuts that are more suited to your body. Also, sizes where meant to construct a base garment that would generally fit and could then be altered by you or a seamstress/tailor to perfectly fit your body 🤗 there are in theory sizes for tall-average- petit and in all of those wide hips- regular hips - narrow hips… the fact, that we obviously don’t have those is one reason why it’s so hard to find jeans 😂🤣😂🤣

You can also have a big bust and be a pear figure. So I would say the original 5 body types are accurate but each body types bust, butt and waist might differ in size! There are also people with low hips & high hips/waist.

And the pear advance was how to broaden your shoulders, which is also not what I need. So until there's a 6th athletic body type added, the 5 just won't do it.

I could literally relate to almost everything when you were mentioning the clothes in do's and don't - could clearly see that I looked good in the clothes you mentioned in do's and did face the problems that you mentioned while wearing the clothes in the don't list. Thanks now I can feel comfortable and stylish in whatever clothes I wear. You did a full proof solution for the problem you claimed to solve. Well done, keep it up! I subscribed. I hope I follow it always without feeling lazy. But really would implement it as an insta model whilst not to have glass glass as of now but would have it future though but till then I can comfortably film content as model. THANKS ALOT! solved a big issue, glad didn't leave the video in the middle. Would love if you reply❤️

This video was super informative. I am an XPT body type and always hated how broad and straight my shoulders were, interesting to see I naturally gravitated to the necklines you suggested and avoided the ones that emphasized my shoulders. One thing I still struggle with is my hip bones. They literally stick out which prevents me from wearing anything tight or close fitting which sucks, and my hip-dips don't help that either 😭and I'm quite tall at 5'8 which makes finding dresses and pants difficult haha
@user-is7xs1mr9y Жыл бұрын
I'm also 5'8 and I really feel your pain regarding the length of pants, dresses and also sleeves lol. In my case I'm flat chested, so pretty much anything in my size with a defined bust will be HUGE on me, I could fit snacks in there if I wanted to lol.

In the last few years, I gained quite a bit of weight due to several things (including pregnancy changing my body, age, and some medications for health conditions), and since then I've been finding it hard to style my clothes in a way that I found flattering, so this guide is interesting, as it takes into account the side view of the body too. According to it, my current body shape would be X-dB and normal shoulders. The tips are interesting and comprehensive, so thank you for that.

I see people complaining in the comments but you've literally saved me with pants tips! I have wide hips and bottoms are so difficult to pick and always feel weird on my legs. Jeans especially feel small, suffocating, and with no room for my belly. This is LIFE CHANGING!!!

I got H-I-n. I thought I had T or normal shoulders at first, but after listening to the clothing recommendations I realized I have the petite type n shoulders. Makes sense since I'm just kind of small all over. I'm glad to hear I was right on the money wearing A-line, flared stuff, and just generally things that give me waist definition.

@@Unknown-probably stand up straight and look into a mirror. If your shoulders and collar bones (your collar bones are attached to ur shoulders) make a straight line when they’re back then you have the T shape. Sloped shoulders will droop a bit even if youre standing up straight.

I really like this video, very detailed. I think however it would be good to use "emphasize" and "deemphasize" or "show off" and "minimize" (or similar language) instead of "do" and "don't," or "suitable" and "unsuitable." Sometimes people may want to emphasize parts of their body or not, depending. For example, I have large shoulders and sometimes I really like to show them off and sometimes not, but being told clothing is "unsuitable" makes them seem like they're a bad thing. Just semantics! I understand the intention of the video.

4:31 not true. For Policleto, the ideal canon was 7 heads long body. It was a pair of centuries later, during the Helenistic period, that it was changed to 7,5 heads proportion. Saying that the ideal body is 8 heads proportion and having 7,5 is shorter, is going against 90% of the population. When greeks loved beauty as something just in the middle of everything.

I don't really think body shape is the only thing that matters. It depends on your face and the type of person you are as well. I'd say I have broad shoulders, but I love turtlenecks. And I've gotten the most compliments wearing them. I feel like the things that make me look more masculine things make me more attractive.

I learned a looot about my body with this video. For a very long time I assumed my body shape with the pear, square, etc. guide, but clothes still felt awkward lol I love how specific this was, even with the belly details that is one of my main issues. 😅 Now I'll pay more attention on how to enhance certain parts of my body that make me feel confident. 🖤
@camillef8698 Жыл бұрын
Just putting my personal notes here as a reminder, you can ignore this comment :) And thank you dear peachie for this comprehensive video, there's a lot more I understand about my body now 1- Body proportion I'm in the average for the ideal proportion (my body is 7.5 to 8 heads) --> Keep in mind the overall ratio to divide the body when dressing up : 1/3 on the top and 2/3 on the bottom I'm not petite so no need to really try to get a longer and leaner figure. 2- Front *H* category (waistline less prominent than X shape). 3- Side *I* category (my belly is not at the level of my chest, and visually in the photos I don't feel like my chest is protruded) BUT it could be *P* because I take at least two sizes above for my chest compared to my general clothing size. OR B after I have taken a meal. 4- Shoulders *n* shaped shoulders, but more like sloped than narrow shoulders (tired effect with some clothes) --> torso < bottom = HIn or HPn whether I consider I have a smaller or bigger chest for my overall size *TIPS TO ENHANCE THIS BODY SHAPE* _Sloped shoulders_ : puff, cap and flutter sleeves are great to make them look broader (pads at the shoulders also help) , off-the-shoulder and structured shapes are also very cool ; make sure shoulder seams are leaning inwards ; avoid loose cutting and oversized, as well as too light fabric (that don't hold shape) and no-seam ; maybe choose structured coats with small collars. _Waist less prominent_ : focus on defining the waist, that add curves = high waisted (no low rise !) with straight or wide leg cut, A-line, pleated skirts (no tight fitting long skirt), belts ! tops fitted at the waist (sweet heart, scoop, jewel, v-neck necklines) ; dresses with high waist definition (not boxy or baggy). _When belly is prominent_ (just in case) : avoid high waisted trousers and narrow pleated skirts, choose high waisted skirts and skirts with wider pleats and A-line shorts with pleats to add volume, only half tuck a shirt/blouse. Loose top and tight bottom is a good combination. Structured garments, relaxed fitting or with straight waistline is OK ; choose matte fabrics. No light fabric with shine and sheer, avoid knitted fabrics also. _To accentuate the chest if smaller chest_ : choose tops with a gloss effect, ruffles and bows, pockets at shirts, double breasted blazer ; avoid tightly fitted tops, very low necklines, and corsets. _To mitigate the chest if bigger chest_ : focus the attention on the waist (structured garments, belt...) ; avoid turtleneck ? _To accentuate the chest if bigger chest_ : do the opposite of the recommendations for smaller chest.

I'm basically H-I-T and I prefer to wear more androgynous clothes and proportions, especially since my shoulders are too wide for most women's tops. I also have multiple medical conditions, the main one leading to "marfanoid body type" meaning long arms and legs, as well as long thing fingers. It means my joints stick out more (if you've seen someone with swollen joints due to arthritis, it's similar to that), and it also affects what I can wear. I can't wear anything with high heels or narrow toes, so I wear barefoot shoes only (Xero Shoes has been great). I mostly make my own stuff, and I for one am very glad that wider leg pants are in because they're more comfortable and work well on so many people, even though all of these outfits are way too girly and impractical for me. I'm mainly watching this as I'm looking at wedding fashion, and trying to get some ideas for what would look better on one of my A shaped friends as we're so different. I certainly have some better ideas now, as sometimes what one would think of helping, might not actually do what you want. Now I have a better idea of how draping comes into play.

DID ANYONE MISTYPED THEMSELVES LIKE ME? I'm a broad shouldered girlie but have always LOVED accentuating my wide shoulders. Imagine Seo Yea Ji's tailored two pieces fits with padded/extravagant shoulders. That's what I like. Always thought it's kinda weird how it looks really good and makes me more feminine instead of looking athletic/masculine. Especially because I look very masculine (inverted triangle) when I wear baggy shirts. Not to mention I'm hella skinny and my boob & ass are on the average size, so not flat but not really poking out. Always thought my body type is boyish, inverted triangle, no waist, no hip, sharp angles. While watching this vid I realized the bottom half of my arms never really sit straight on the side of my body despite my shoulders being wide as hell. Turns out I'm a pear after all. I got A body type from the front, yet I'm dB from the side. Never really considered being hourglass or even pear because people who better fit the stereotype are always around me (i.e. pear -> really wide hips, prominently curvy; hourglass -> straight T shoulder blades that could cut you, really tiny waist). Suddenly everything makes sense. I do have a waist after all. I look super masculine in baggy because my waist disappears AND my pear hip is only wider than my chest, not my shoulders, so they disappear as well. "Dramatic shoulder + A-line skirt/pants" look really good because I'm basically highlighting my dominant features to the T. Does that mean...I've loved my features before I know I have them? Lol. Now I wonder how it'd look if I try subduing/balancing them out.
