Ah yes, Post Falls! Any one else from Spokane remember when the drinking age in Idaho was 18, and we would drive to Post Falls for a beer or three? My favorite place to go was the old stone school house, and sometimes the Slab Inn.

Thanks for the great video. We have been coming up to Post Falls four times a year since late 2018. I see that the unemployment rate is quite high in Northern Idaho, what is supporting the large increase in residential units? Sadly the build quality is quite poor on most of the new homes. We look forward to the Hwy 41 I90 interchange being completed. Take care.

I lived in Post Falls since 1981. I also lived in the "Highlands" when it was called "Royal Highlands" before it was a golf course. It used to be a 40 acre state bird sanctuary where we could ride our bikes on the trails all over and I moved out when they changed it to a golf course.

My favorite part about living in Spokane and near Idaho is all the great golf courses nearby. Also being able to go from city to forest in basically 10 minutes in any given direction from where I live.

In the Pocatello area they are building huge apartment complexes. MANY of them, joyless looking buildings, that look like army barracks. When I think of living in one, it makes the work I do on my 70 acres easier to bear.

We're looking to move from Hayden to Post Falls, just because of the available options for our growing family. I love the trains though (at a certain distance). I would really love to see dinner trains come to the area! I know PF, and the larger CDA area is growing, but it's still so much better than everywhere else, but the biggest thing is respecting people's rights and not relying on the government to enshrine every proper and improper action. For that reason, if nothing else, I don't think I could ever leave the area.

I think it crazy that you advertise on here all about relocaring to Idaho not realizing how much it will change your state. I'd love to here in more detail about schools, Taxes, permits and fees etc mostly more about what you will need to put up with when you move there rather than just the price of homes which most people can find on their own. I would really love it iy you could do some driving videos going through the neighborhoods. That would be really special. Thank You and have a great day.

I’ve lived in Post Falls since I was 8, moved here from an even smaller town I’m WY. Post Falls has become SO expensive since I was a kid. Even in the past 6 years the rent in my crap apartment has almost doubled, without a single renovation, because my landlord insists our 50yo apartment needs to match the price of all the brand new ones. We’ve also had a definite increase in homelessness, litter, and wildlife (ie. mountain lions) coming into neighborhoods … I wonder why…

I call Post Falls "Little California". It used to be that the area (Kootenai County) could absorb the steady influx of people and new folks became "localized" to the North Idaho culture. Unfortunately, the massive Covid migration has been too much in a short time and people now are not adapting to the culture. They are bringing their "LA Freeway" attitudes/behaviors and the transition away from the traditional feel of the area is acclerating exponentially. Locals that are able are cashing out and moving to other parts of North Idaho and Eastern Montana. Personally we are building our new home in Boundary County where it still feels like the North Idaho we have known.

Being similar to your story, coming from California to Post Falls over a decade ago now, I agree with a lot of your viewpoints about Post Falls: 1) With a lot of locals being born and raised here complaining about the recent growth, it's with times like these that smaller rural areas see growth. Especially after hardships like 2008, 2016, 2020, etc. If Post Falls stayed the same, with the same wages with slow economical growth as it were 2008-2016, PF would've been decimated whilst CDA and Spokane grew and grew driving more people away from Post Falls as they were back then. Meaning, a lot of people that worked outside of PF, saw their taxes from their paycheck never come back to their own city. Living in Post Falls but working in Spokane like a lot of people do, only makes WA see the taxes being deducted from their paychecks. God forbid if you did Construction or Oil that drove you out to the Dakotas or Montana. Your immediate city would never be able to have nice things, like better schools, nice parks, repaved/safe roads, new housing for the coming generations, etc. 2) With what's currently going on with the state of Idaho's medical laws and practice, it's slowly driving people further out to look for good paying medical jobs. Bonners is currently reeling from it along with CDA. That's why so many people need more (med) jobs up here. With it's current state, more than 70% of Post Falls/CDA residents are currently out several months just to be seen by their primary since a lot of physicians and doctors are leaving the state for more stable jobs and better paying income. 3) While yes, the average house price has increased dramatically here, it's happened nation AND worldwide. Though we are finally being able to see the house prices and property taxes come back down, this isn't something new that just happened like a lot of the locals are saying with "A lot of Californians moving here". Cities like Post Falls, CDA, Rathdrum, Hayden, etc. have been seeing new houses and businesses being built since 2010. Post Falls itself was always growing. Newer/wider roads, new businesses, Schools upgrading/expanding; it's been expanding for the past 20 years, and rightfully so with how many much of the population has grown since 2000. Post Falls saw a new mall/shopping center which is now Tedder Industries, Car Washes, Bars/Restaurants like Nashville North, The Bunker Bar/Grille, Konala, Apartments and Houses as mentioned in this video.. without any of that, Post Falls would've definitely been like the locals were saying "becoming Los Angeles" because of horrible paying jobs but housing that people couldn't afford with the average income being $10-15/hour as it were 2014. Though it's still a growing community, and always had been, the new growth has slowed down drastically since 2020. The livability has starting to come back down with the world no longer freaking out as it were 2-3 years ago. Houses are starting to decline in asking price, entry level jobs are averagely starting at $18-25/hour, violent crime is non-existent (comparing to CDA or Spokane), and schools and businesses are thriving. The new land development has been happening since 2008 and has continued to grow, bringing in more like-minded people trying to make a living peacefully as Post Falls was created upon. Sure, there are bad apples in every group (born and raised or even new faces), but the principals here are great along with the fundamentals that this lovely city has to offer.

Post Falls is one of my favorite places to visit there. Especially the park next to the dam when the falls are going. A lady at Cabellas gave me a dirty look when she asked why I was there back in October, and I told her I was looking to move there from the Los Angeles area. I hate LA and Spokane is far too liberal and crowded for my taste. Plus it has the added benefit of not getting nailed with all of the taxes in Washington. But eventually I think I'll go for somewhere with less people and a bit more rural.

@@LivingLifeNorthIdaho I lived there from 2011-2021, in downtown CDA. Watching Sherman Ave go from being almost a ghost town during the winter months … to what it is now … I find that old “service industry argument” to be quite outdated … especially when taking into account, the sheer amount of income that migrated to the Spokane-Kootenai County metropolitan area in the last 7 years. I respect that it will always be a vital necessity, but not for tourist season reasons. We will just have to agree to disagree. I will see the recent 2 years worth of growth when my family moves back there in a couple of months.
