YES!! I was nodding my way through all of this. I did a "crash and burn" this year, in my 4th year of teaching and started to wonder how on earth I would get to retirement and still be able to do my job. I expect this year will also have its challenges, because I am the only Year 3/4 teacher in our tiny little school. Which means no team to share the load. BUT...my Year 4's for 2019 are so, so amazing (I had them this year as Year 3's). And I love that after a 10 week season of hectic busyness and challenges I get two weeks of rest. Love our school year calendar!

I have a funny story. I have been teaching 3rd grade for 20 years (since 1998) at the elementary school I attended as a child from 1981 - 1988, and the only teacher I remember having was my third grade teacher. When I came back to the school to teach years after attending as a student, my third grade teacher was still there, and she became my co teacher for the grade level. Back then we only had two teachers per grade, but we expanded to three after 2000. So my third grade teacher not only taught me everything you learn in third grade, but she also taught me how to teach that information to third graders. I dedicate my entire teaching career to her, because she was the teacher that inspired me to become a teacher myself. But, after teaching for 43 years, 15 of which I was also a teacher for, she retired at the end of the 2013-2014 year.

@@mayaleex3 Can a soft-spoken introvert pass the selection and interview stage? Or do teachers have to be extroverts, as most I interacted with.

@@Noa...... yes of course! I'm not a teacher but I was an intern for a 5th grade teacher and was nervous as heck! I'm an introvert btw but as time went by, you get used to it. Still, I should let you know that I do not wanna become a teacher--I was doing this internship because of my school's program but I wanna be a Children's Librarian, which is still a leadership position.

@@Noa...... One of my teachers was so introverted that he would only speak for the beginning of class for warm up then we do his assignments for the rest of the class whilst he sat alone in his little office. We learned later that he did that because one of his collegues told us he had social anxiety, even after teaching for 30 years.

You're one of the few that promotes why being a teacher is fun and rewarding. You acknowledge the challenges, meager pay, behavior management, etc. But if you go around youtube, 90% of the videos are about feeling suicidal, depression, angry at boss, coworkers, and system. I'm sure what they feel is genuine, but the amount of information out there lean 80% or more negative.

I know that this is the job that I want to do but I can't go throughout all this study which is so not motivating me in becoming a teacher...watching your video helped me remember why I'm doing this. Thank you so much for your positivity! I am currently in my Master’s/Credential program (at Biola’s rival school, actually, haha), and I am constantly filled with doubt as to whether I will actually be able to handle teaching, because it all seems like so much, and many other teacher vloggers only increase my anxiety. Your videos, however, are always so simple and positive, and they show me that teaching doesn’t necessarily have to suck the life out of someone - there is a way to put your heart and soul into it without losing your sanity or peace in the process! It’s very encouraging to see. =)

I’ve been always wanting to be a teacher ever since my mom was my pre-k teacher I want to teach first though. Teaching is like having 24 or plus or less kids but only seeing them for 8 hours. I think that being a teacher is being a helper to this world I want to teach younger kids coast if I had teens I would be in flames. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE decorating so my class room is going to be very nice ones I grow up to be in collage I’m in4th grade virtually and my teacher room is nice.

Stop saying that you get paid for the Summer. Teachers don't! They reduce teachers' pay during the 10 months they get paid to cover the 2 months when they don't get paid. They cover those 2 months with their past earnings if they opt to get paid that way. You kind of said that, but it was confusing by you saying that you get paid in the Summer.
@andriaharrison55923 жыл бұрын
You do get paid for summer because your not working those months.
@goldstar91743 жыл бұрын
@@andriaharrison5592 no. It's like when you get your tax return. It's your own money that you overpaid. They take that money from each check to make two summer payments from their own money.

You’re not dumb. I had no clue what I was doing at 12. You’re smart for knowing what you want to do. You could do anything you put your mind to. All you need to do is try. And if it’s hard, ask questions and get help. Then try again! You got this!
