Thank you so much for this video. I struggled with debilitating anxiety about 10 years ago. Went to therapy, went on Lorazepam and eventually I felt better and got off the medication. Now for the past couple of weeks I’ve been experiencing that same level of anxiety again. My doctor prescribed Zoloft and it took me a week to take 1/2 a pill of 25mg. I’m still not sure if I want to keep taking the Zoloft, but after watching this I’m realizing it’s just another tool to help me do the work. I know I’m not alone in this.

Mark, going through a loss can be an extremely challenging time, going through two losses, and with people who are so close to you is even more challenging. It's a normal part of life, teaching us impermanence, and the gift of being able to love on each other each moment that we get. It's also so tough, on the heart, the head, the nervous system, to grieve and go through it. I am sending you big love, and I invite you to give yourself the time, the space, and the support that you need right now to sit with this and grieve. You are not alone, and you are loved. 🤍 If you'd like to talk further, please reach out. 🤍

Thank you for sharing an update, Marcello! My own journey is very similar to yours, depression and social anxiety took over my life after going through a breakup and moving to another country. Finding the right therapist (third one was a charm), getting on Fluoxetine (Prozac) and doing a lot of work and self discovery (audio books such as The Power of Now, Untethered Soul, The Four Agreements) helped me tremendously. I was able to learn that I'm not my mind / my thoughts / my emotions. I'm learning to smile again and enjoy interacting with other people the way I was able to before my depression (or even on a deeper level, hopefully). Thank you for putting yourself out there - it is greatly appreciated both by people who are only starting their journey in battling anxiety and depression, as well as by those who have made steps forward to discovery of their true self. Your sincerety is much appreciated :) Yuri

I remember watching your videos when I was severely depressed, and I think I tried to reach out for advice and you were great! I am now on antidepressants (Effexor), not saying everyone needs them but I was suffering with severe anxiety and depression and at the time I couldn't benefit from therapy. I was also living in a toxic household, and I finally left and will be starting therapy and hoping to eventually get off Effexor. What helped me the most wasn't just the antidepressant, but it was like a crutch to help me be better enough to work on myself and make positive changes and that's why I believe I am much better. And now after leaving a toxic household I will finally benefit from therapy and be my own person, and continue to grow and evolve. So Effexor changed and literally saved my life, but I believe I did all the work and will continue to do so until I no longer feel the need to stay on medication. Also awesome video, love it! And thanks for the awesome work you do and for all the helpful links you shared. You're very self-aware and you've got awesome positive vibes, and it really helps your viewers like myself for example. And hell yeah, let's evolve together!

This can be extraordinarily challenging especially if the people we are getting away from are our families. Also, much love to you on your journey of healing while using medication as a crutch. This is SO important! Too many times have I had people say that they were great on medication but just as bad as they were before it when they got off. This is why medication is not the cure but rather an assistant. Hi ! Marcello thanks for sharing your experience! I do have a question did you experience while having that extreme anxiety and depression back in the day , any issues with your stomach ? I’m in day 2 of Zoloft I’ve been as you described it down the rabbit hole for 2 months now thinking I have something wrong due to my stomach being affected by my stress and anxiety… it’s been really hard not to think the worst case scenario … I really hope Zoloft can help me and then my stomach will follow too !

Brother, I suffered from insanely strong stomach aches for most of my life leading up to the time I started on Zoloft. I had no idea why, what was happening, and eventually when they became so bad that I saw a doctor.. he told me that it was because of anxiety and that was the first time I learned I had anxiety. Through a multitude of actions that I took including therapy, meditation, medication, understanding myself, and learning how to heal through my anxiety.. my stomach aches have entirely disappeared. It’s a very common thing that I also see with my clients, you’re not alone. You will most likely see a shift for yourself as well as you embark on this journey. Hope that helps, much love man.

Marcello, you are one furry, sexy, beautiful sweetheart. I tried Zoloft as my first antidepressant and it worked fine but it made me sweat like a pig on the back of my neck lol. I switched to Prozac which also worked but after about 2 years I realized that my depression and anxiety was much better, and the Prozac became just a little too stimulating. Next for me was Lexapro which is the brand name for escitalopram. It works amazingly well for me and it seems to have excellent results with the vast majority of people with fewer and minimal side effects. At the present time, and I have taken Lexapro for years, it really doesn't have any side effects because my body has adapted to it while still allowing its beneficial effect. That said, what you said about working through the causes of your depression and anxiety and how to manage both with new skills and knowledge with a therapist and I think in many cases a psychiatrist and psychotherapy may be superior to just a psychologist, is well stated. You have to have both to eventually need only a small amount of either.

Hey brother! I have an appointment to talk with my GP about medication/therapy, i've been trying everything natural since my anxiety got really bad the last couple months, meditation, yoga, exercise, breathwork, supplements (worked at first but kind of backfired), and even cold showers, and although its all been helpful, I feel like its time to incorporate medication/therapy into the mix so I can really evolve and get on top of my anxiety, where as now its kind of on top of me and I have to battle it from the moment I wake up. I'm confident since i've already been doing the work on my own, medication (at least for the time being) can only help me further. This video and your others are very helpful, and you have a new subscriber. I hope one day I can do something similar and help people overcome these types of things as well as other things i've overcome (I used to be an addict through "self medicating", but now sober :) Anyways, just wanted to say thanks. I'll drop back in at some point and maybe let you know how its going. Peace and love brother!

Hey brother ❤️ Congratulations on your being sober! I know it took work to get there so congratulations on your journey and symptoms of healing ❤️. As for the anxiety and taking medication, I totally understand how you are feeling. I have experienced it myself. All of these tools are extremely important AND the tools that you mentioned here are powerful and yet they don't dive into healing the actual source of the anxiety itself. In other words, meditation helps up breed awareness and can help similarly to an SSRI when practiced consistently but other practices like cognitive behavioral therapy or reparenting can help up resolve old wounds and conditioning that are holding us back ❤️ I would highly recommend checking out Nicole Lepera's latest book, "How to do the work." It helped me understand the source of my anxiety further. I don't know you but it's telling to me on the base of your message that you will be experiencing a breakthrough in your healing soon. I wish you the best brother ❤️ You are slowly but surely coming back to yourself. Keep it up!

I have been reviewing all of your videos, I have had brief experiences with various meds but can’t seem to find the right one, thinking about Zoloft which I have not tried. What you touched on in this video is my main concern, I can’t seem to educate myself at current or rather put into practice what I read or study, what you mentioned about this really resonates. I think one of my main concerns is that I feel more positive while on meds, will this carry over in order for me to leave it one day? Idk these are the things that run through my mind. Your videos help allot, are very relatable and real which is hard to find so thank you for putting yourself out there.

Proc D! I'm happy to hear that you found some value and relatability in these videos. I totally understand the concern about the carry over of positivity from being on a drug to not being on a drug. This piece was also a big concern of mine and as a matter of fact this fear played out for real for me when I first got off of medication. However, I went back on Zoloft about a month after coming off of it and it was that second time around that I really dived into doing the work of healing (meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, therapy, etc.) while being supported by the medication. The experience of high level energy that I went through lasted about 9 months, however this is entirely unique to me. The level of anxiety that you experience, and the length for which you experience, is entirely connected to how well you can connect back to yourself. Anxiety is simply a symptom of being disconnected from yourself. Where do you feel you became disconnected? You can begin there. 🤍

Hello ☺️ thanks for the information , ı ve been on zoloft for 4 .5 years and my only complain is that ı was 56 kgs when ı started it and now ı am 72 kgs. I feel very depressed, insecure ,ugly and anxious. That is funny because it is like a vicious cycle. You take the medication in ordsr to feel better , but the meds make you fat and you go more depressed then before. So what is the point of taking it ? Ofcourse, it has lots of benefits but I think gaining weight is very very bad. Also , I heard many thinks about childhood experiences. They say that during the age of 0-6 years , if you have a traumatic childhood then you will bd stick on the pills. What do you think about it? You think some of us brain developed like that and we cannot change it without using medication? Also , do you believe in 'chemical imbalance theory'in the brain? It means that (to this theory) I will be using zoloft forever?! If ı have a chemical imbalance in my brain? Honestly, ı dont believe in this theory or I dont believe in psychiatrist neither. I think they are fruads. Sorry but I want to be honest and this is what I am thinking.
@evolvewithmarcello3 жыл бұрын
Yaren! I am so glad you've brought this question up about our development between ages 0-6. I've literally just filmed a video on this exact topic and written an article on it here: marcellof-lagreca.medium.com/anxiety-is-not-your-fault-d970abbce7b9 You will see in this article that I don't believe in this trauma as a "life sentence". Instead, we have the ability to heal and unlearn much of what is in our past and still holding us back. Therefore, medication is not something we have to be on for life. However, we have to put in the work to grow and evolve. The brain is plastic, which means that it can adapt and change over time! What a miracle for us with anxiety.. we can change our circumstance.

what is your true self as you say ? how do we have clarity to find it ?
@evolvewithmarcello3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich! Thank you for asking such a good question. I intend on answering this in an upcoming video. In my view, our true self.. also referred to as our authentic self.. is the spirit that lives within us. It’s referred to in many way from soul to intuition to higher self. As we do the work to shed a lot of our outdated conditioning/habits and shed the anxiety and mind fog that comes with it we begin to make more room for this part of ourselves to express itself. I like the analogy of imagining a Lamborghini covered in mud. As we start to clean off the car we can see just how beautiful it truly is underneath all the shit that it’s been covered with. Hope this helps!
