Mick was the complete guitarist. One of the best live bands I ever saw, around 1978.

Good tribute to a true innovator who inspired legends like Wilko and Townshend

Got into Mick through Wilko Johnson. Wilko kept mentioning him so I bought those albums they made in the 70s still play them today. Great tribute

I love Mick Green just sad I never saw him play live and love that telecaster customer you got there beautiful looking guitar. Any guy that dresses up in a velvet pirate jacket, thigh high leather boots and still plays like that has my respect

What a great video James. I've seen lots of your shorts and pinched some ideas!! But just watched a few of the Pirates videos, never really had before and then this popped up. I need to work on this style, very much a begineer at lead, because it sounds great. That band's energy was awesome to watch.

I love your enthusiasm for Mick Green and his guitar style James..He"s my guitar hero and i saw him many times with The Pirates from the late 1970"s up until they reformed and played occasional gigs in the late 90"s and early 2000"s .the last gig i saw was when they played the Musician in Leicester in October ,2008 and my ears are still buzzing after standing at the front watching him play.Keep up the good work.Cheers.

I was at that gig. If I remember right Mick played a Stratocaster that night. A great gig but then again they all were.

Hey James Fabulous nod to one of the early greats. It's so easy now to just accept certain playing styles without recognising where they originated. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and for introducing Mick Green to a new generation of guitar players. Bless ya man. Keep it live.

Wow when you did that first riff on your red tele, it totally reminded me of Joe Jackson's guitar player Gary Sanford's intro on One More Time...really look forward to you playing in the states

Fair play James ... I was about 17 when I saw Mick play for the first time and I was blown away by the style and as you say, the many that were inspired by him... one of the greats!

There was magic in the air when your dad played with Mick and Johnny Spence. I remember you teasing the audience in Blackpool before the encore.

Thank you. I just came here because I was thinking about guitar heroes and I haven't really got many or any, but I saw The Pirates in about 1978 or 9 and though Mick Green was ace and wondered if anyone had done a video about how he played. Several more to watch now...

Can you do tutorial on Van Morrison Gloria with Mick Green playing the solo please?
@johannesk42552 жыл бұрын
Agreed i can fully understand your passion of Mick Green... He was one of the greatest guitarists that belongs in the hall of fame. Humble guy, not there getting fame and glory...just doing his thing. Bought his records with Frank Farley and Johnny Spence when they revitalized the Pirates back in middle of seventies... War Skull and the one i rank as best one, Out of their skull... Great music With Mick on the rythm and lead guitarstyle and Johnny with his steamy bass and a voice send out from god to preform rock and roll, finally Frank playing his drums like an unstoppable freight train laying the soundstage ... Im a bit sad i never got to see them live on stage... Later i got to know they traveled cross sweden several years even wrote a song about the girls in sweden, Svenska flicka i believe it was called, Spence even preformed it in Swedish language...

Mick Green once said that Redbone (c/o Witch Queen Of New Orleans) was a favourite band of his... What do you think about?

Mick didn't leave anything to chance when filling out the sound of a band. The "Kitchen Sink" is deployed in almost every recorded song. Amazing and masterful rhythm when chicken picking or heavy metal rock and roll. He 's owed a lot. So is Mr. Spence and Mr. Farley. I've often said that being in their band must have been akin to being shot out of a cannon every night. Would you agree?
