In today's video I take on a huge 18 mile run in preparation for the Chicago marathon. What started out as being my most dreaded run of the summer, ended up being the most incredible run I've done. Running is a constant up and down rollercoaster. It's symbolic of life in a lot of ways. If you just keep going, things will get better.
Thank you for watching!

Started to overcome my gambling addiction. 20 months later, I am aiming for a sub 3 hour marathon like you. I continue for the challenge but most of all the strength you can draw from being a runner is like nothing else, ever. ALSO - science in sport (SIS) gels, specifically the pineapple flavour, may help you.

I’ve always noticed on my long runs that the first couple miles are often the hardest because you need to get your mind and body in sync with the pace that you want. My friends and family don’t believe me when I say that mile 5 is when I really start to feel good on my long runs

Well said. Running is truly almost all mental when it comes down to the miles that really matter, the destination isn't a physical place, but in the mind. As Kipchoge himself says, no human is limited. And for me it's a simple switch of running because you choose to instead of because you're forced to + your content that I rediscovered my love for running. Keep at it Nico!

Nico, it's been amazing to see your progress. Your honest and laidback videos and short content are one of my biggest sources of inspiration for running. Since this video was important to you, I wanted to just leave a bit of personal feedback. I understand you might have been going for a more professional look, but the scenes where we see you talking to another direction just looked a bit weirder than if you would talk to the camera. It was inspiring watching you finish this run and also the way you still managed to connect with a fan during such a challenge. Keep going!

Running is an addiction and love of mine. I love waking up at 4 am to go out for my run and listen to audiobooks if it’s a chill run day. I have run 30 marathons and intend to get to 100 at a minimum. Some tips - change your watch to be in kilometers vs miles. I find it easier from a mental perspective to push hard for another km since it’s only 0.62 miles. I use Maurten gels since they are easier on the stomach and seems like that’s the brand the pros like to use. For any big training runs going at marathon race pace, treat it like race day and practice pre-race nutrition. I wake up four hours before the run/race and have about 1k calories of mostly carbs. During the run, I try to take in about 70-80 grams of carbs per hour.
