It's hard to remember things like the pathophysiology, relevant signs and symptoms, tests to order, treatment or management for disease x, but once you see a patient with disease x then it all becomes much easier because you remember the patient. The great Osler once said something like the person who studies medicine without books sails an uncharted sea, but the person who studies medicine without patients does not go to sea at all.

learn it like a story a good story will include many changes that the main character/s undergo/es make a mind palace part of your story the more emotionally invested you are in the story, it's memorable and exciting and motivational (7:00-7:22) the more relatable the mc and the struggle of your story, the funner and more motivational it is

Awesome video. My struggle is how to do this with material that is hard to make into a story, like words that sound like gibberish and don’t remind you of anything that you can turn into a picture, or things like immunology molecules that are just letters/numbers combos. Can you do a video with these types of examples?

All the things that you talked about in the video are awesome. I have studied from many teachers in my life, but there is only 1 teacher that successfully applies all this; my maths teacher. He teaches highschool students & I can guarantee you that no one can teach maths (especially calculus) better than him.

I was planning on making flash cards and revise those. Then make a mind map of sorts from memory with some prompts and write down everything I know about these topics and use my flashcards to check. Now I have the winter holidays to do this.

I wonder how this ties into theory of mind and storytelling. I've never been interested in stories, even as a child, and the idea of turning what I'm learning into a story is very boring to me. But I also learned that adult autism may be the reason behind this.

@luvepalette
@luvepalette 9 ай бұрын
no it's easy actually when you're reading something that isn't related to your academics, you don't have the pressure to memorize it so you read it effortlessly and at the end you remember most things about it. I realised it this year only how I can recall stories or books that I read months ago and years ago which I just read for fun and I can recall everything without revision
@luvepalette
@luvepalette 9 ай бұрын
It does work with every subject honestly I can recall things from a biology lecture that I saw months ago or even some physics equations that my teacher explained weeks ago, I don't force my brain into remembering anything anymore I just read it like a story or think that whatever my teachers are teaching is a story and it works all the time! One exception is maths 😭 maths is my biggest enemy, it messes with my brain lmao can't help it but for other subjects it works
