I just had my first baby via c-section a month ago and I said 2 weeks into recovery that baby 2 would be delivered the same way. I hated being pregnant and your videos about your lackluster experience really helped me get through it. I also have a strong support system that is making recovery a breeze. If I went into natural labor I would be okay otherwise cut me open and keep it rolling. Praying all goes well with your delivery. Also, my husband and I only wanted two biological kids so just like you it isn’t a concern.

Thank you for providing the medical details around what will impact your decision. I love how candid and informative your videos are! Incredibly helpful for women to understand the various factors that lead to different labor outcomes - vaginal birth vs c-section - and the risks and benefits of both scenarios. C-sections are amazing and have saved countless lives (my mom's and mine among them when she had pre-eclampsia) but it's major surgery and doing it multiple times does increase the risk of complications. Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy, Dr. Ali!

Thanks for sharing your opinion and decision. It seems you have above and beyond medical support that most VBAC women don’t have, that would help you and the baby even if a VBAC went negatively for you both. As a C section mom myself who is trying for a VBAC, all of your fears are what make VBACs so much harder because we have so much trauma and fear to work through. At the end of the day of course it’s your decision. I suppose I’m just hear to tell you to not give up on your dream of a vaginal delivery. I know I won’t be giving up on mine. I hope all goes well.

I had a vbac last year. Definitely would never elect a cesarean. My baby was 9lbs11oz, 10 ounces bigger than my first. All that after being told that my hips were too small. Lol. They will tell women anything to sway them in their direction

I had my first daughter at 28 weeks 4 days gestation. Had pre-eclampsia and IUGR. She weighed 1lb 14 oz at birth. Even though I had a bikini line incision externally, I had a vertical uterine incision and therefore I was never a candidate for VBAC which was fine with me. Delivered my second daughter via C-section 5 years later. Best wishes for a safe delivery for your baby boy!

Allie, I absolutely love watching your content. I’m a nurse so I can relate in a way. I do want babies in the future and I also have an anxiety disorder so the idea of birth in general is scary for me. I have no idea what I will decide. It’s good that patients can choose elective c-sections. I know a couple people who have chosen elective c-sections for first babies for mental health reasons. Best of luck!

37 weeks today. First born was a csection. My dr isn't to found of vbacs.. we went over the risks etc.. but she did say, if I have spontaneous labor & I am progressing by 39 weeks, yes let's try the vbac. So far I am 0cm & not effaced. I know things can change very quickly.. but I'm in the same boat. My csection is already scheduled but if I go on my own, I go! I have no issues this pregnancy, it's actually the best pregnancy I've had. My first was great too, but I was on bed rest for 3 months due to my pprom, but thankfully the hole sealed on its own, but still needed to take caution. Thanks for this video. ❤

Beautifully explained!!! I've had 1 c-section and 2 vbacs. Currently expecting #4 and hoping for another vbac. From the way you explained your situation I probably would've chosen repeat c-section myself. However my situation was different, no complications in pregnancies so vbac was my best option 😊

Boy is this video relatable. Young and healthy, my first pregnancy (and only) was AWFUL. Gestational diabetes, severe preeclampsia at 35 weeks and a preterm emergency csection to get baby out for my health and hers. Honestly, good for you for having a second. I’m terrified to be pregnant again. It makes me envy those who had enjoyable pregnancies and labors. It’s very comforting to know someone else went through these things too, and that I’m not alone. Stay strong!

My 4th delivery was an emergency c-section due to a placental abruption which wasn't first known when my water broke at 38 weeks, which then became severe and was realized during labor. I was thrilled when I was allowed to go for a VBAC the next delivery, which was only 11 months after the c-section and was twins. I had already delivered three times vaginally prior so my OBs knew I could deliver vaginally. They were on board with the VBAC as long as there were no circumstance which presented that would cause a need for another c-section. One factor was both twins had to be in position, head down. I went into labor naturally at 36 weeks with my twins.

I’m 6 months postpartum after induction at 36 weeks for preeclampsia, oligo, growth restriction that ended after 10 hours with a placental abruption and emergency C section under general anesthesia. I COMPLETELY agree with the feelings you have surrounding induction. I maintain the same mindset for whenever I get pregnant next. Would love a TOLAC but will happily choose repeat scheduled C section over induction.

Sex , walk , pimrose oil insert, dates, pineapple , everything ! I think sex worked with an orgasm ! water broke later that evening after am sex Gave birth At 40 weeks! Baby born 10.3 pounds A very empowering experience!

Im currently going for a VBA2C with a midwife as well. Hoping for a successful home birth, last C-section was November 2023. I’m not afraid since rupture after 1 C-section is less than 1% and after 2 is less than 2%. I HAVE a 98% chance of not rupturing. I only ended in 2nd C-section after an induction because of medical staff being against TOLAC, no real medical reason.

I just had my first baby on 12/19/24. I had a c section. My husband and I know we only want 2 kids. So the next one/last one will be another c section. But I wish more doctors would educate patients on scar tissue after a c section and things patients can do to help minimize it. I have a midwife and she does not have a lot of knowledge of scar tissue or c sections. I get doctors try to avoid doing c sections but that procedure is becoming more common it seems.

I know high sugar levels are bad but could you elaborate as to why that is? My OB just said it could make the baby big so I’m curious now. You said in the video is very dangerous for babies to be exposed to high levels of sugar so now my curiosity has been triggered lol
@softscribbles
@softscribbles 11 күн бұрын
Bigger baby, harder to birth. There are also other complications speaking as a diabetic mum. It’s not always more sugar = bigger baby, there are a lot more risks. Including higher risk of miscarriage & preeclampsia & effect post partum to mum & baby.
@betsybabf748
@betsybabf748 3 күн бұрын
There are many complications besides a bigger baby which you said you said knew anyway. I take it you are asking about what Ali was talking about with the baby being exposed to high sugar levels longer in utero, not the general pregnancy risks with GD which all know. It can cause higher bilirubin and red blood cells counts for the baby, neonatal hypoglycemia, breathing difficulties after birth, etc. I think it can affect calcium levels, but don't know how it does.

I was induced at 37 weeks due to baby's distress and high heart rate. The labor put so much stress on my body and my baby that it ended in an emergency c-section. Heart failure/fluid in lungs for me, decels and HIE for baby and a month long NICU stay. I will absolutely be doing a scheduled c-section for any future baby(ies). I cannot do all that again. I already live with mom guilt that I put us all through that. :( Your feelings are totally valid no matter which way you go!

Nurse curse feels so reallll. I’m an ICU PA and had such a sucky reaction with my epidural/spinal. I attempted an ECV with an epidural and the epi got in my blood stream and my HR went to 185. Nothing like an L&D nurse running a code cart to you and your coworkers showing up to the rapid response lol. Then I had c section 3 days later and the spinal didn’t fully work and I could feel sharp pain so the CRNA pushed fentanyl and ketamine and I had quite the trip…like fully tripping. Sooo yeah nurse curse sure feels real even if we don’t believe in luck or curses 😂

I had preeclampsia with number 1 diagnosed at 39w0d. Induced the same day foley bulb and then pitocin. Baby got wedged in there OP, chorioamnionitis, funky heart rate, arrest of dilation. Needed an extended cut with the C-section. Hemorrhage and then transfusions. 21 months later insulin controlled GD pregnancy. Induced for oligo and not so great NST at 38w6d. Born the next day and same arrest of dilation and hemorrhage during C-section and transfusion. LGA baby 17 months later scheduled C-section for mild preeclampsia and uncontrolled GD with insulin. Uterine window seen but otherwise totally fine. 37w0d LGA baby 9lbs 15oz 😮 23 months later I had my fourth C-section scheduled for 36w0d. LGA baby, thin uterus and tubal removal

I went vegan vefore i got pregnant with my 2nd and pregnancy was a breeze and even had a VBAC, i just had my 2nd VBAC last week and i pivk vaginal birth any day, csection was too hard for me. I just think that more should be done to educate people on pregnncy related diseases and maybe studies can be done on how diet affects us during pregnancy.

I’m currently 36 weeks pregnant with twins. I’ve had 5 children vaginally unmedicated and I was really hoping to do it again this time around but unfortunately they have been transverse the entire pregnancy. I have tried all the things to get them to flip and they just won’t. Next week my doctor is giving me my c section date and honestly I’m terrified and so sad about it. Of course them being healthy is the most important thing but I just really prefer to have the minimum amount of medical intervention. I hope and I am working on coming to peace with the situation as well as you have in yours.

I think its great youre educated (obviously highly), your doctor is giving you the options. But sitting here saying im a doctor so im going to rupture...not supportive to other pregnant doctors or really any lady who elects a vbac. I cant imagine if i saw a video of my doctor saying this before I had my vbac. Again theres a risk of rupture and if you decided you dont want that risk its your family, your body, your decision and i think just about any woman having had this choice would say im happy you had a choice you feel good about, but saying things like this, like i had a rare thing happen already therefore im going to rupture is so unsupportive to anyone considering a vbac if theyre otherwise a good candidate.
