I'm a principal of a large high school trying to figure out how to help my teachers use Teams and the embedded features to help kids in the online school setting. I send a lot of your videos to them. You presentations are easy to follow and you demos are helpful for our less-than-savvy users. You've made a big difference in the education of Memphis students during the pandemic.

I am leaving teaching because of people like you Mr Thorne. What about "banking education". Sending videos to teachers just like filling a gap or filling information or skills from their time to watch videos that you posted "for them" seems downright wrong. I learned more through managing my time and through trials than through people like you who seem to throttle on people's drives and knowing what good for them. That's why the new generations don't want to succumb to this vocational profession and do something else and thinking about teachers as less savvy means that you're downright despotic. I took from Kevin and now I'm building my own business! How about that Mr Thorne a mere less-than-savvy user became able to leave teaching and build a business. Hopefully more teachers will follow this example.
@samosa59253 жыл бұрын
How about giving real trainings to your teachers? The less than savvy users have not received any training for technology. Teachers have no time to train themselves and administrators think they can just send videos. I am a Canadian teacher and while I like technology Inhad tonuse my personal days to teach myself. This is ridiculous that we expect teachers should pay for things in the classroom and use their own time to educate themselves. I agree with the other person who said new generations will not all for the vocational career.

Today I put a test in a totally cool PowerPoint training for my staff. That’s because of you. I didn’t know u could do that or that PowerPoint had gotten so good. I'm happy for you, and excited at the same time. I'm almost 80 (in three weeks) and I've spent half my life regretting taking charge of it. It wasn't that I was unhappy all that time - more like unfulfilled. Money and fame was never that important to me, but happiness was, and eventually I gave it my highest priority in life. Even now I spend hours learning about things I'll never do or see or experience, but knowing the process gives me joy. You are a very talented individual and the reason I recently subscribed to your channel. I hope to learn more from you in the future. For now I'll just continue to learn as much as I can until life runs out. It's people like you who can and will make the world a better place. Best wishes...

Something tells me that you are going to be just fine :) Ironically, I watched this video while waiting for the Keynote from Microsoft at the Inspire Convention (online this year). The resources and goals of Microsoft are massive - but I can see how you might feel like you are in less control of those. When you are part of something large, you are a smaller part. When you are responsible for everything of something smaller - then you are in complete control. Both of these have benefits. The key is that no decision is permanent (except jumping off a bridge or something horrible like that). You can always adjust and recalibrate your goals and activities. Plus, you are young - so now is the time to take the risks and build that life of no regrets! You seem to have an intelligent safety net (wife, savings) - so I applaud your decision to try something new and pursue your goals. Personally, I wish for you what I wish for all my students - a life of curiosity, exploration and life-long learning. I'm not sure if you are foreshadowing my own pathway (thank you for the inspiration!) My very small channel is far from enticing me to leave my job teaching, but you are definitely inspirational, personable, and the type of person I admire - good luck and congratulations!

It hit me right in the gut though, I worked as a lecturer for 10 years and calling it a quit during pandemic to achieve my dream as a comic artist. At least the thing I knew before I die, I finally got to do something I really love. Thank you for your tutorial on OBS setup I finally able to figure out the way to show my works better. Keep making awesome content,I'll look forward to it

You did this 8 months ago and I just found your channel. Great decision, great videos, it is impossible not to grow and expand your world view doing your own thing even if you fail. You clearly have a communucation gift. Best tech channel I've seen yet. I am 70 and for most of my career, one job led to the next even in different fields and different disciplines. The common thread was technology. Learning horizontally and vertically. I prefer horizontally cross discipline because you gain a deeper understanding of cause and effect. The first computer i worked with was an IBM 360 with punch cards and Fortran. My first mini had a circuit board RAM that was 19" x 19" that had 16K x 16 bit capacity. I digress. Keep doing what you're doing, follow your bliss. I'm just starting out on blogging and blogging so you're helping a great deal.
