I bought this bike back in October as a commuter and have no complaints, though that's probably because I don't know any better. What I love about this bike is that it is proof that road cycling doesn't have to be an expensive hobby. The Blazer is more than capable of keeping pace with the average rec rider/weekend warrior. It's shown me that at novice-intermediate level, personal fitness matters a whole lot more than expensive equipment.

I agree. It depends on your style of riding. It’s a good bike for entering the sport but the issue is it can’t really “grow” with you like a 2k alloy bike could. Putting new parts on this bike like better gearing or lighter bars would be a bit redundant. If all you’re doing is your 50k group ride though, this is perfect.

Great vid mate, nice one! It's fantastic to see an honest review on a bike that a 'cyclist' would probably never consider. A wonderful option for someone entering into mini triathlons, road riding or even just commuting. I'm looking to buy one to put on the Wahoo Kickr Zwift rig. I’m 182cm tall and the size 56 (Large) was perfect. The stem is super short though so it might be worth swapping out. Aside from that no issues with size. Perfect trainer bike.

Threw carbon rims, seat - stem and fork on mine as well as 380 wide standard bars $1240 all up and it's a great little commuter. Sadly the rear wheel was damaged during delivery, 10mm medial warping.

It’s good that it’s affordable to upgrade. You could have some pretty solid components on this without breaking the 1.5k mark, but it’s diminishing returns in a way. It is an absolutely solid commuter. Glad you’re enjoying it. What rims did you have on it?

Nice vid review Burgess! I’m riding a second hand bike bought for less than $1k and then added some second hand carbon wheels and some new tyres. Rides great for me. Do I want to win the local crit? Nope. For me the biggest improvement in my cycling has been losing the weight around the belly and just riding lots of kms (after changing the wheels)

David you’re a legend mate. Thats exactly what it’s about. I think maybe 1-2% of cyclists race and the rest are just out for exercise and mates. This bike is just great for that. Glad you got one going and you can get out with the bunch. See you next Saturday I hope.

Definitely a potential option but it’s $1700AUD which is starting to push it outside the direction of the series, being entry level bikes that can carry you through. I hope to get to that point down the track when I have enough followers and views to be able to justify the spend to the family 😓

My upgrades would be 38cm bars, Selle SMP saddle, Michelin tyres and TPU tubes.....and probably change it to 1X🙂

Haha the godawful smp saddles. They look woeful. Bars are a good shout, as are the tubes. Don’t want to go all in with the saddle because I want to sell it within two months and those saddles are great but put people off

Sorry but i think Decathlon offerings like Triban RC500 and RC520 are better deal, if you catch Van Rysel EDR 105 rim on sale for like 1100$ its killer deal and that is basically race ready bike.

You’re probably right, but in Australia at least the Van Rysel isn’t available so the Tribans are the only options and they’re about the same price. Decathlon is on the list to try, but it’s also been done by better KZbinrs than me (Cade Media for example) so I’m trying to show some variety. Thanks for the suggestions though brother 🤙 Genuinely appreciate it.

@@burgess_and_his_bike Yeah i am from Europe so all those Decathlon bikes are here in stock no problem...but anyway i still think you should give that RC500 a go in proper review and test with some upgrades and stuff like that, i think is most underrated bike if you buy new. Really like your channel i hope you get more subscribers and more stuff to test.
