As an artist myself i use Krita because it's free so i hope people also start seeing the potential in this app as much as clip studio paint and know that they can have many options without needing Photoshop

@@SaraTepes I like CSP but not having lifetime options on all devices hurts. I'm not a full-time artist so subscriptions make no sense to me. Krita is nice bc I draw on my Samsung tablet and my windows xppen with the same files. CSP can do the same but one platform asks for a subscription

I switched from Krita to Clip Studio about 2 years back. Best decision. I liked old Krita with the wet brushes, and accidentally updated it to new version, and I could never achieve my same art style and flow again in there. Fought with it for a year. Then I tried clip studio, back when you could still get the lifetime license, and fell in love. The wet brushes you highlighted are EXACTLY those I use and it feels like they were made specifically for me even at default settings
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
THAT WAS MY SAME EXPERIENCE!!! I updated Krita and it just wasn’t the same. Then I switched to Photoshop and it was even stiffer than the updated Krita, so when I found CSP it was like I was painting with a stick of butter, so glidey and creamy 😂
@don-doriАй бұрын
Krita did have an issue with Opacity/Flow pressure control on Masked Brush (dual brush - which most of "Watercolor" brushes use) at certain point where update basically turned off the pressure control as it was the new default. An oversight regression that got reverted back (somewhere in ver 5.1 I believe?). But I have to agree, as good as Krita is and can be, it has its quirks in areas where CSP shines. However CSP isn't perfect either so it all comes down to user's needs as both have pros and cons.

I have used Photoshop for 14 years, I actually know most of the tools, even worked with their 3D engine while it still had it. That said, I use PS strictly for work now and for the past two years, every single painting I did in my free time was made in Clip Studio. It is truly the superior tool for artists.
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
Ahh yes! CSP just feels easy to open and paint, it’s 100% for painting and nothing else
@CreativeSteve69Ай бұрын
As a fellow artist I mainly use Clip Studio for years now almost 10 years to be exact. Only time I use photoshop is only when I take classes at school since they are sadly stuck in photoshop land and don't wanna change software. XD Luckily most my professors are pretty good with allowing us to use which software we please as long as it's able to do most of the stuff photoshop does. Glad I found Clip studio years ago and got out of the debt line of Photoshop beforehand.

I’ve definitely had a CSP file that I converted to a PSD for sharing at college or work now 😂

Putting aside every moral argument against Adobe, just simply using CSP is so much easier than PS and it performs very good on older devices, like my laptop. In my opinion it's just a better product for digital art. I didn't even wait for the end of 3 months of my free trial, I bought the perpetual license because I knew for sure I arrived home. I LOVE the asset store too.
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
I'm glad you love it too! I have been having such a good time finding new assets to play around with and experiment recently.

Since I bought Procreate I haven't used Photoshop anymore, and I would even say that I've forgotten how to use it, and I'm loving Procreate precisely because it's a cheap application with great tools and very intuitive, I also recently purchased Clip Studio and hope to use it more often as a Photoshop replacement.
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
I should make a separate video on Procreate! I don't absolutely love the app, but it is simple, convenient, and so inexpensive. CSP on desktop is amazing!
@OHeyChrissyАй бұрын
Procreate has been my go to but I really hate the pressure sensitivity issues it has. I desperately need a new tablet so I can use Clip on my computer. I kinda hate you have to pay $9.99 a month on the iPad for Clip. I think if you have a membership you shouldnt have to pay monthly or if you pay once for the app that should be it.. idk just my 2 cents haha. I stopped using photoshop after college. I've been hearing terrible things about Adobe I don't think I could go back. Unless by some miracle I work on a big project 😅
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
Woah I actually didn't realize that you have to pay so much every month for the tablet app. I have my license on desktop so I just switch it to ipad when I want to draw there. But there are so many good cheap tablets on the market rn! Huion tablets are also bound to be on huge sale for Black Friday.

I'm so glad I made the switch from photoshop to clip studio paint a few years ago. I too felt like I tried so many brushes and such trying to get a certain look and feel of painting but never found that in photoshop. I enjoy working with clip studio's interface so much! It was really easy to learn and now I even use it for simple little animations too :] I'd recommend it to any digital artist!
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
I need to start using it for animations! I'm glad you get what I mean by "the feeling" between Photoshop and CSP, it's so different when you're painting!
@nimroddormin9844Ай бұрын
I fully endorse this, you name many important points. Two more: 1. You can import all Photoshop brushes into CSP and 2. The files in CSP are much smaller and thus require way less processing power and memory than the psd-files. A third one for EX-version users: Good options for animation. And the price, oh, the price 😄
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
Such good points! I didn't even think to mention the file sizes. I'll save my .psd in Photoshop for a video thumbnail with 5 layers-- tell me why it's 300 MB?

I use both ClipStudio Paint and Krita, and when I am on the go I use Artstudio Pro or Procreate on my Ipad pro. The studio I work at has Photoshop enterprise license so I do use it every now and then, mainly for image processing and editing, not so much for illustration works, alternatively I also use Affinity Photo at home for image processing and editing, since it has perpetual license, so I just use that as my Photoshop alternative when I am not in the studio. Though my ClipStudio paint is currently on version 2.0's perpetual license, and since version 4 is coming soon, I am thinking about whether I should upgrade or not, as the current version already has all the functions I need to get the job done, so I am kind of just waiting to see if version 4 has enough new features for me to make the necessary upgrade. So far I really enjoyed what ClipStudio Paint and Krita offers when comes to illustration and concept arts.

truthfully, if csp hadn't swapped their payment model, i'd still be using them. i loved how it felt, the free resources were fantastic...the ui was a bit cluttered but once i found the setup i liked it was my program. once i swapped to my ipad, i ended up using procreate and i never looked back. i wanted to, but the pay model announcement made it drop it again, i just couldn't justify it. i dropped adobe because i hated the sub model and how much they were pumping the price, so i was so disappointed when csp went in their footsteps. i do definitely agree with you on why it's a great program though, use wise!
@SaraTepesАй бұрын
They offer perpetual licenses, which I think are a great price! Pro is on sale right now for $21 👀 I know you have to pay to upgrade to the upcoming versions, but I don't think I would mind being stuck with my version for several years.
