I do the same man! Have been fortunate enough to grab up original cd pressings of so many metal classics, the dynamic range issue needs to be brought up way more in the mainstream demand labels when they reissue classic albums keep the original mastering or special editions with the original masterings

I still use mine on a daily basis. I've had the same playlist (7500 songs) for 10 years so I'm close to finishing a 10,000 song playlist and that'll be ready in about 2 weeks. Nothing but metal and no duplications.

I have a 512gb 7th Gen iPod classic that I use every day! I have over 36k songs loaded now and room for a lot more. I've loaded 320kbs versions of all of the songs and it sounds amazing. I hook it up to my PA in my garage and my wife hooks up her phone to another channel and the iPod crushes her for sound quality.

I still use an Ipod Nano. Why? One reason is the second mentioned here. Removes me from my phone. I can workout, go on walks or whatever and not have my phone with me. I can focus on the music and while it's more "work" than just having a phone with Spotify or something. I enjoy the work. I still like buying CD's. I still transfer them. I like having a separate thing from my phone so if my phone is lost/broken.. It's not as big of a deal (if I still reach music the same way I don't need a phone like many others seem to do). I also delete all albums and transfer others all the time. This not to get bored with albums and give others a chance. How many doesn't listen to Spotify and just play hit singels or totally forget certain albums? I like the limitation and it keps me more awake in my listening habits. I will actually order a used one right now. If you get a hold of them. They cost next to nothing. Who wants to steal them? Sell on E-bay for like 2 dollars. It's not worth the hustle!
@LairoftheAlchemist2 ай бұрын
I love your idea of deleting albums. One thing I've enjoyed is that at the moment I don't have a ton of albums on my ipod. In a weird way it's more enjoyable having less to listen to.

Oh hell yeah! Got a bunch of 'em in fact. I'm by no means an Apple fanboy of any sort, but you can't not agree that they really nailed it with the older iPods. (iPod Touches don't count, they're more like iPhone Lite 😁) The first and likely last Apple devices I'm buying. My main one started out as an 80GB 5th gen, now modded with a big-ass battery and original hard drive swapped out for flash storage (416GB total; 3x128GB + one 32GB micro SDs). Battery lasts for ages per charge and fits my entire digital music library, with ample room still to spare. Feels comfy, man.

I use my iPhone to listen to my CD rips. (I have a 1tb drive, and mainly listen to FLAC files) I agree with everything you say about current remasters. A lot of the time they are very loud and it’s very draining to listen to. Most of my collection is original first pressings (a good hint is to check the CD for an AAD code, those sound excellent), with the exception of my Black Sabbath collection, some random pickups I find for a good price, or modern releases. If it’s not original, it’s mainly because the CD is an expanded edition containing cut tracks or outtakes. I’m very big on that so that’s really my only exception. I use streaming for music discovery, and I if like the album, I search up the best sounding version based on reception online, and then hunt it down. And a physical media collection gives you a sense of connection a digital library never will.

Hello, I have an iPod Classic that I bought from a flea market. The device turns on and, at first glance, there doesn’t seem to be any issues. It charges, plays the pre-installed games (I can hear the music from the games through headphones), and the sound works. My computer is old and has low specifications; it's a Windows-based laptop. I wanted to download iTunes to add music to my iPod, but unfortunately, whenever I connect the iPod to my computer (something starts downloading to open the application, and then it suddenly stops), the application stops responding. No matter how hard I try, this keeps happening. I tried 2-3 different applications, but the result is the same. What can I do?

Definitely diggin the "original release" moment. Back then, i thought CD audio would be everywhere, but then we got 128kbps mp3, lol. I'd too like to leave the ifone at home, but cellular network on AW is not suported locally. Also, Apple wont allow third-party chat apps to have phone calls, only allows basic cellular calls. Hate that, nobody uses phone calls with friends

Does the music sound the same as on the cd after u transfer to ipod from a computer. I thought the computer turns the file into mp3.
@MosoKaiser2 ай бұрын
Basically yes. With high enough quality settings, you'd have a _really_ hard time telling the ripped files apart from the originals. Or downright impossible. (and of course, lossless formats will reproduce the original 100%, at the expense of larger file sizes) Doesn't have to be MP3, you can rip to whatever formats you like, provided you use a ripping program with ample options (EAC rules!).
@LairoftheAlchemist2 ай бұрын
I agree with what MosoKaiser said, you can set it to Lossless but it will eat up a lot of the IPods storage. If I do critical listening I still have lossless on Apple Muisc on my phone and my vinyl collection or I listen to the original CD.

So ok my iPod story is I had a Bose iPod dock with a pretty good sound that stopped working last year. Then I bought a 23 Nissan and even though the sales person said that my iPod would connect to the USB she failed to mention that it doesn’t recognize iPod’s anymore. So I do have one and so wish I could use it. Especially I believe the iPod has a better sound than the iPhone. So sadly I have no way of playing it anymore 😡

I have a Samsung tablet with a big microSD Card in it. I use it as a big iPod/MP3 Player, and it connects to my car stereo by Bluetooth. It works almost flawlessly (if I go away on a trip, it can take a few minutes for the tablet and my car to synch with each other). An Android tablet isn't expensive these days, and with the PowerAmp app provides very good, very customizable, sound quality.
