I made almost 20 x for doing the same work in US , worked hard , saved enough so that I can travel & retire in India . For my kids US is their home and for me I have deep desire to travel and spend lots of time in India .

It’s easy for young parents or singles to make this transition. When kids are older and you have a GC , for kids US is their life and home and feel it’s unfair to move them. Would like to hear from parents with high school kids or older who made this transition

India can do without people like you. I can't call a country perfect where the gun culture and drug addiction is largely prevalent. Impressive story, Aditi! At a young age, you have clarity about the future, financial knowledge and long-term thinking, I wish you the best. I just got my citizenship last year in my mid-40s. It is not worth it. People like you will benefit more from permanent residency in the US.

If only modi can put people like narayan murthy behind bars, many will go back to india and take care of their old parents. We work for end clients here in USA for 100 dollars an hour for 40 hours per week but if the same job is outsourced to india, middleman infosys will suck 80 % commission and give peanuts as salary in india. On top of that demand 70 hours work per week and forcibly deduct charity money towards his wife sudha murthy charity so that she can get padma vibhushan

I also moved back because visas limited entrepreneurial path. I have had L1B/H1B (3yrs left) /F1/F1-OPT. Also had the option of F1-OPT-STEM, but didn't use because of the restrictions on entrepreneurial path.

She said she worked 20yrs in US… so basically she has worked since 2004 and all my friends including me from that time frame 2000-2010 if they applied for their GC are now citizens. So not sure why she did not apply for GC… May be I am missing a point. I totally agree that GC situation for people who applied after 2010 is not good

For passport one need not pay any amount other than the fee to the issuing authority. Need to pay money only when you go through agents. Because I have obtained and renewed on my own without paying any extra bucks. Please note

There are many parents in India who send their son/daughter when they are in their fifties so that should not be a constraint. You need to think about yourself whether you will be able to adjust in India after you cross sixty.

Absolutely no bribe was given while getting passport nowadays in india. Post 2014, such bribes have comed down drastically to almost nil with online processes.

Great to see she is happy now and managed to take the tough decision of coming back. If you are financially independent, i would recommend you to consider doing something of your own rather than choosing the employment. The work life balance here is non existent in most cases and can take a troll on mental health.

I think getting passport is very straightforward in India right now after TCS takes over the whole operation. There is no bribery or middleman involved right now.

Luckily because most of my friends who applied around the same time are still waiting. I am currently taking a year of sabbatical and traveling around. I did the Everest base camp trek and traveled around a few countries.

I am in UK , and due to personal reason very soon will return to India. I can say that no one returns to India because they love India , they return simple because they miss family or friends. A suggestion for thos who saw video like india is growing and blah blah,,, don't believe in that bullshit and all , try to see you own personal life and happiness , for example indian had surpassed canada and France GDP long before but it does not mean it is better place , if some one is getting chance to live in better place ls like US and UK then no need to go filthy place , clean it and then live it.
