She says something very important, why should you travel to Greece, Italy and spend money there whereas you could spend it in Africa and help the continent - just remind me few days ago I had to convince my African business partners to try to hire a Kenyan software developer instead of getting someone from Poland. We Africans need to be smart the way we do things to help ourselves, no matter how much successful you are if Africa is still behind, you will be disadvantage one way or other somewhere in the world ! All I am saying is that we need to mobilize our own resources before asking someone else

PeoplePower HeartOfAfrica Totally agree, we need to change our perception of ourselves and be confident in investing in ourselves in terms of business. Why would anyone else be interested in spending their money on African travel or labor force if we don’t even trust it

That's true. The global community of black people should spend their money on Africa, instead of European countries, some of which are very racist towards black people. There are many incredible vacation hot spots in Africa, including, beautiful beaches, mountains to hike, game parks, etc. For the ones who love city life, there are several beautiful cities all across the continent. So visit, vacation, invest, relocate to the motherland. Africa is the future.

You made the right choice darling. I went back to Nigeria for a year when I finished uni 10 years ago. I myself was raised in the UK and still live here now, but that was one of the best decisions I made in my life and I one day want to move back permanently. Europe has been cool but it's never felt like home to me.

BeachChairz It’s a shame there’s so much corruption in Nigeria. For a country with such a rich heritage and history the Nigerian people deserve so much better. Corruption is the biggest poison infecting Africa right now. One thing I will say is this. I am not African myself but as an Armenian I just want to express how proud I am of you Nigerians. Every day Armenians are leaving the motherland because they would rather run away then stay home and try to make things better and fix our corrupt administration. Nigerians leave Nigeria but I have heard many of you guys either go back eventually or at least collectively donate millions to your motherland to help lift her up. I wish half of us Armenians had the pride and patriotism of you Nigerians. God bless you and grant you and your people prosperity. You deserve it.

Thank you for making this video. I am an African American man who #1 has my B.A. in business administration #2 worked in corporate America for years, ran face first into the "glass ceiling" and got tired of it enough to become self-employed. #3 refuses to spend my money in countries that do not value blacks. #4 have researched all 54 countries on the continent of Africa and wishes to see as many of them with my own eyes as I can; damn western media...always accentuating the negative while minimizing the positive of any black "nouns." #5 Tanzania has an awesome President who is making government officials shape up or ship out. That impresses me. As the leader goes so goes the nation. #6 the dual citizenship issue is challenging because I'll be looked at as obroni...akata...foreigner wherever I go...like you. However, I am not dismayed. The Motherland is the place to be...not just from a spiritual perspective, but an economic one. Africa...specifically sub-saharan Africa is projected to experience substantial growth in the near future. The sheer size of the population...combined with the relative lack of overall development equates to great opportunities for those business savvy enough...those with high levels of intestinal fortitude...to travel to the Motherland with eyes that see the diamond in the rough. I wasn't going to comment...but...you hit home with me...even though you are from Sweden and I'm from a small town in Arkansas. Smh lol. Thank you.

#1) My ancestors fought too hard for me to inherit it. #2) Married with children, cannot risk not being able to enter USA to see them. #3) I'm able to generate lots of money for myself stateside...having the ability to make USD and use that money in Africa...from a business owner perspective is very advantageous. My intent is to maintain my company...my identity...my everything stateside...and use it as my base to expand abroad. I have no illusions about the difficulty i will face trying to penetrate a new country with the perception that I am not a native son. I want to be able to utilitize the inherent benefits my USA citizenship gives me to help better my chances of achieving success in Africa. I want my wife and children to be able to have a second home in Africa, with our own business(es) so that the natives do not feel we are "taking" jobs from them...but see us as "creating" jobs for them. Dual citizenship, for me, simply makes my transition easier. Unfortunately, only Ghana has somewhat been open to granting it for African Americans...(to the best of my knowledge).

Wow I’m so glad that you did decide to comment, makes me realize that black people in the diaspora face similar challenges/excitement when it comes to experiencing, learning and working in the African context. Very inspiring to hear that you managed to create your own business and hopefully one day you’ll find an opportunity to extend it to an African country creating jobs if that’s what you wish to do. And yes, the current Tanzanian president is doing some massive clean up in the government and private sector trying to eradicate corruption on all levels and tax evasion. I just hope that his tough tactics does not lead to increased bureaucracy and control which will deter FDI.

Thank you for making this video. After finishing my undergraduate degree I visited Kenya (where my family is from) for two months and made a promise to myself to go back and live/work there for at least a year as soon as I can. For the next two years I am going to work on saving, gaining work experience, and paying down my student loans so that I can position myself to live in Kenya for at least one year and travel throughout the continent as well. I haven't even entered the work force yet and I'm already tired of the rat race - I just feel so distant from all the things people value in American culture and I would be like to be closer to my extended family. Right now I feel so far away from my goal but seeing stories like you reminds me to stay hopeful and motivated!

I am currently experiencing quarter life crisis. It is a very real thing. Sadly i already started a family which i love, but feel like there is so much i want to do than be locked away in our home in NYC for 4 months (winter)at a time. I'm Jamaican American so naturally i feel compelled to move to jamaica just like you are Tanzanian Sweedish and felt like moving to Tan... i am a special needs teacher and i honestly dread going to work, all i can think about is 3:30pm for the school day to come to an end., also my son who has to be in daycare while i work which give me major anxiety as his language development is still underway. I had the option of not working and staying home with him, but that too makes me want to see bedtime as it gets really boring and borelime depressing being home 90% of the time. Figuring out some kind of investment stratergy and a business idea. The goal is to but farewell to America before the next winter.

Do whatever you can to get to a top ten business country in Africa. Rapidly growing middle class will support your teaching business. I'm Jamaican too and my research is that Jamaica and South America are the last places to go if you want your business to work. LOST CAUSES due to corruption. Jamaica may have its own flag and constitution but its still run by the Queen. Never good. I'm in Georgia making plans for Africa. Mapping all the trade zones, different organizations etc. I don't want to wait until its too late for my investment dollars TO GROW IN Africa (Transportation, Banking, Oil, Pension, Telecom etc.). I recommend a book get it on Amazon, "THE FASTEST BILLION" by Charles Robertson. Its a bit outdated (2012) but it teaches you why Africa is growing and prepares you for where Africa is definitely going...to the top. One Love.

Respect sister! Your experience is inspiring. Hopefully it gives others inside the US the courage to step outside of their westernized box and explore the possibility of returning to their ancestors' land of origins. I am prepping myself for the exploration and possible move to West Africa myself. Honor to you!

You are an inspiring young lady this video I enjoy watching it. It gets really dull out in western world as well. I live most of my life in Canada born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Now I realize what is going to make me happy to establish myself in motherland. We have almost similar idea traveling the hall african from Madagascar to north africa from west to east africa. At the same time supporting tourism africa instead going to any part of the world. I am sick and tired of north america lifestyle. We need to spend time, money and energy into the motherland that way we can support local businesses. I hope I can visit Tanzania one day.

Why are you so beautiful!! As an Afrodane, I can really relate to this video! I really appreciate your deep thoughts and reflections! I'm graduating soon and I also have my trip back to Africa already planned out. I am hoping to go as soon as I'm done. All your reasons for going back are my reasons. Why not invest in our people? why not explore Africa? Why not grow as a person in a place that is deeply tied to our identity? Awesome video! I love it! I'm looking forward to see more

Hi! Thanks for watching, I'm definitely planning to do a walking video around the area so you guys can see everyday life a here. Industries here is mostly agriculture, minerals and tourism (even though the tourism sector needs a lot more work). The real estate market is pretty hot in Dar es salaam right now. IT also offer great opportunity, one could combine real estate and IT by creating some kind of platform such as craigslist (but better) because its hard finding good affordable places to live in the city. Banking or mobile banking, most tanzanians don't have a bank account. Food industry, people eat from street vendors a lot so maybe a food truck with healthy delicious foods outside offices, beaches etc. Or go into agribusiness and focus on good packaging and sell it to supermarkets/shops.

Great video, as a socail woker, policy maker, and student of human behaivor, most westerners think Africa is cluster of poor and ravashed countries , when in reality, Africa is an amazing continent, and has amazing people and is seeing huge growth in all sectors. 1. Largest growing middle class 2. Youngest working population 3. Agricutlure, Infrastructor, technology, real estate and tourism among many other sectors are growing and now its time to get in on the ground floor (The world Economic Forum, IFM, world Bank, China, and many Multi-National companies already know this and are on the ground in the continent already.) 4. Due to growth, there is a huge need for good and services. which translates service sector jobs for people to deliver these good and services. 5 local Entrepreneurs are springing up in most of the countries. Etc, Etc, Some of the 1% have said in interviews that Africa is the last great frontier. Yes its an exciting time for Africa and its people. Lastly what most westerners don't know is that parts of Africa are top retirement destinations for Europeans, just like Latin America and the Caribbean is here on the West Coast. is for Canadians and Americans Loved the video and I preach the rise of Africa and growing economies. Thank you!

This is a topic so close to my heart. My parents are Tanzania too and I moved from Dar when I was nine. But I feel so disconnected from everything there and don’t know how to get closer to it. I am not very close to anyone that’s back there for me to say if I go back and start over, I have someone to show me the ropes and seek advice from. Or maybe that’s just in my head. I also work in financial services so I feel we have some similarities. I guess there’s a lot of doubt there. But I admire you for taking that step. It’s really inspiring. There are so many questions I want to ask. Could you maybe do a video on all the processes you personally went through to make the move ie. research you did, savings, work, accommodation, a time line of events and prep u did that lead you to Dar up to the point u felt settled in. This might be a video series idea.

HI. Thanks for your video. I just came across your channel. I am thrilled by your dedication and motivation. You are intelligent, honest, unpretentious and beautiful. You are an educator on behalf of Africa. Many in the developed countries think erroneously, that Africans need their sympathy.No.Blame their media, which is in collusion with interests soliciting for money in the pretext of helping others. Some of such organisations are enjoying this money and never give it to the purported causes. For some, it is a lucrative business venture. There are many bad things in the developed countries, which, until internet came, Africans would never read about. If more Africans in the diaspora put their skills to use and wealth in Africa, they would develop their mother countries more than all the foreign aid donated by other countries. So, thank you for your contribution to the cause.
