When I was a kid, I had a Venus Flytrap. The instructions said to water it with distilled water. My dad brought distilled water home from the science department of the school he taught at and very sternly told me that if I drank it, I would die. I was convinced that only a sip would kill me. Years later, in adulthood, I noticed distilled water being sold right next to regular bottled water. Being an American, it was immediately clear to me that distilled water must be safe to drink, because it would be a liability to market something deadly next to something potable.

Potassium, manesium, iron, or calcium are all examples of "metals." We are not supposed to strip them away from our body. They are essential micronutrients that we need to consume (electrolytes). They can work as important cofactors involved in many enzymatic reactions, water balance, or chelating agents involved in stabilization of many DNA and protein structures in the body. Think about the principles of osmosis and diffusion--water flows down the concentration gradient--and Le Chatlier's principle--equilibrium shifts to counteract a change. Our body is not a closed system nor is it in perfect equilibrium with the surrounding environment. When you urinate, sweat, or cry, you don't secrete distilled water. You expell minerals (metals) along with waste products to adjust the pH or to maintain the homeostasis of the body's fluid volume. I am myself a vegan for the animals, people, and the environment. I just don't want people to blindly follow information without scrutinizing or much critical thinking and jeopardize their own healths as a result. In nature, distilled water (rain) drops and flows over rocks, and minerals are collected for animals to consume. Collecting rainwater in a plastic or glass container without introducing any minerals is definitely not something totally natural if you think about it. Just get distilled water or collect distilled water and "add" some good minerals instead of consuming it directly in a distilled form. Plus, distillation does not remove fluoride completely since the fluoride added to most potable water is in the form of hexafluoro silicate which has a boiling point of 108 degree Celcius, 8 degrees higher than that of water. Please share with me if you guys have any good ideas or criticism of my suggestions. Thanks.

Hey Unknownone, interesting points you make, but isn't the process of distillation boiling the WATER, so that it's not the minerals that's taken away from the water, but the water that's taken away from the minerals. So the fact that flouride has a higher boiling point than water should be irrelevant, no? As long as the water evaporates and then settles in a new container then it'll be fine. I think there is also a new argument to consider, and that's the potential for pharmaceutical drugs to contaminate tap water as well. I do believe studies have shown that traces of various pharmaceutical drugs have been found in tap water in various developed countries. Even if they're low amounts, no one knows what long-term damage this can do to adults, nevermind children/infants. I haven't actually invested in a distiller yet but I'm struggling to come up with an alternative at the minute.

unknownone completely agree mother nature knows what it’s doing and if we were meant to drink distilled water it would be easily available in nature. But like you said animals don’t just open their mouths and catch rain as it falls to drink they drink it after it gets infused with natural minerals. Keep in mind that the more you “baby” your body the less of a powerful immune system you have. Just as a general example... parents who over protect their kids in a scenario where the parents do not allow their child to play in the sand box or get dirty every once in a while is usually the kid who is sick more often then those kids who did partake in such normal activities. The immune system or even the entire body for that matter can build a tolerance for many things once it has been introduced to it. My point here is don’t waste your time trying to avoid things that are naturally good for you like some of the minerals found in water just because it comes along with a few other things that your body is perfectly designed to handle and deal with accordingly.

unknownone Thanks for that. I thought about drinking distilled water for a moment but there is far too much scientific evidence against it to consider drinking it. Not gonna jeopardize my health. Distilled water was a health craze decades ago. So several studies have been conducted and its all pretty straight forward. Its fine for a short detox but not for long term use. Its pretty damn destructive.

Second mind ( you ) then take on other projects that you may have thought of relative to the first minds theory. So you thinking on the literal microscopic level then take the theory and supply the group of minds with that new information. So on and so on. In short, you should take your questions and theory's and work them out to collect all the analytical data you can find etc.

Toxins located outside the digestive tract in the lymphatic system which goes throughout the entire body pass through the kidneys and exit the body in the urine - not the anus like you mentioned. It is important people not get confused about that. You're saying that distilled water draws positively charged metals that should not be in your body and flushes it out your system, but Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Manganese, Copper... all of these are essential (positively charged) trace metal ions that we need in our body to function. An average adult should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, so if you're drinking 8 glasses of distilled water a day, imagine the amount of important trace metals you get from your diet will be flushed from your system. Overtime, this can send you into the hospital with hyponatremia or hypokalemia. It's true that tap water contains chlorine and fluoride which has unknown long-term effects and also tastes bad, which is why I only drink spring water. The minerals present in bottled spring and filtered water are purposely added in there to improve the taste.

Distilled water is slightly acidic yes, but it's irrelevant how acidic it is. The acid in your stomach is a million times more acidic than anything you can consume. Truth is it's your kidney's that regulate your blood PH levels... therefore you're blood will always remain at a nice alkaline state regardless of what you consume. Hope this helps.

not true acidic foods cause lead to gastritis, gerd & dyspepsia...also some people have allergies to the foods themself or the acids in the foods. It's a plants natural mechanism, if it's sour it's a sign you shouldn't eat it just like how poisonous animals are brightly coloured. Sorting your heart out. I experienced the same but nothing bad happened over 8 years. I can't deny drinking alot of distilled makes you crave salt tho, which might have driven my bad diet. Very confusing subject and nobody seems to have a perfect answer. @bobwreck3775
@bobwreck3775 7 жыл бұрын
Andrew Norton has put this to rest. Distilled water has a negative charge and rain water is distilled. The human body holds a negative charge as well as all living things like plants and trees. Organic living minerals are negatively charged and inorganic minerals, the ones in the earth hold a positive charge. Chemicals and none living matter are all positively charged. Distilled can never take any good minerals from the body since they have the same charge. This is why rain water doesn't melt trees or melt us when we walk outside. This is why I don't have a hole burned in my stomach from drinking distilled for over 5 years. Distilled goes in and grabs the positive charged junk, attaches it to the water and it takes a ride out of the body.

Hi. I bought my distiller 20 days ago, and drank only distilled water since then. After 20 days, i noticed a lot of problems. All my muscles (mostly legs) started getting really stiff, i started loosing a lot of strenght on my hands grip, and my hands started looking like they were totally dehydrated, they looked like a 70 years old man (im 36). yesterday night i finally drink a liter of normal water, and my hand got back to normal this morning, and the muscles stiffness got better... Beside all this, i didn't notice any positive effect, why is that? In anyone else experiencing this?

In general, water is no more negatively charged than it is positively charge. In fact, its net charge is neutral! You're likely referring to the characteristic dipole moment formed due to oxygen's high electronegativity, in which case, no this is a huge misconception. In the same way that water will fill a shell around a sodium ion to hydrolyze NaCl, water molecules will rotate in the opposite direction and isolate an anion. This is precisely the reason you can mix tablesalt and water without worrying about it evolving toxic chlorine gas. If this was the only concept underpinning the practice, it is badly misunderstood. Also, it's already been said, but your body needs metals!! Sodium, potassium, iron, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, and zinc are all super important to your health! Just because its a metal, doesn't let you label it as toxic

So is the concept of inorganic vs. organic minerals bogus? The calcium in plants and milk are metals? I fins this hard to believe. Would seem to me those are the organic versions. And the version in a cast iron skillet is inorganic, for example.
@4DTravelr

@@chief2piece2What is the best water after a workout (or in general) in your view?
@BeepingSheep
@BeepingSheep 9 ай бұрын
@@4DTravelr Organic minerals are a valid classification of compounds, although your treatment of organic vs inorganic is understandably misplaced. Calcium in milk, for example, would be an example of an inorganic mineral as it is dissolved in the form of calcium phosphate--which is indeed a metal, albeit in an ionized state. Organic minerals are commonly found in biologic systems (e.g. oxalates, porphyrin, hematin, etc.), but can also be completely unrelated to direct biologic origin (e.g. rare urates, humboldtine, etc.). The version in cast iron would indeed be inorganic as it can be mechanically transferred with the food in its elemental form. Undissolved iron is still bioavailable in its raw form, just not as readily as from plant and animal sources (porphyrin & hematin respectively). As for water after a workout--you lose electrolytes to sweat (K, Na, Cl) and as such, you would want to replace these in one way or another. Spring water and a normal diet is fine for this and replacing trace metals your body needs. Drinking distilled water just sounds like a recipe for deficiencies, but perhaps some get enough of these minerals from their diet to replace these. Depending on your water source, distillation may be the better option, but if you do, you should replace the minerals after distillation to be safe. Check out chubbyemu on YT. I'm sure he has a few videos on people making dangerous mistakes with distilled water.

Are you drinking distilled tap water? If so what is the pH? Can you do anything to improve the pH of distilled tap water that is below 5/6? Can you film the actual process of distillation? Finally, what foods do you eat to make up for the lack of nutrients in distilled water, and how much of this food would you need to eat in a day? I know you're raw vegan, but for those that are not raw vegan, how much raw water based food would they need to eat to get sufficient mineral content that is absent in distilled water? Peace.
@michaeldubery3593
@michaeldubery3593 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, it doesn't matter what the pH of the water is before you distill it, and it doesn't matter what is in the water before you distill it, when you distill the water it's pH will go to exactly 7 because that is the pH of pure water. If you just leave distilled water on the side at home, then a small amount of carbon dioxide will dissolve into the water out of the air, so it will become a tiny bit acidic, unless you add something to make it more alkali.

Thanks for your video. Some people say the distilled water leeches minerals from bones but others say like you that it bonds to the toxic inorganic minerals and junk inside our bodies then we piss it out. Anyway I think distilled water is great to drink and wouldn't hardly Leech any minerals already in the organic form bound to our tissues. Also, just looking at the bottom of the distiller pot after one cycle and wowww, so much disgusting crap. I'm sure that crap is much much more harmful than the pure distilled water. So, the distiller leaves negatively charged water? Hmmm!? I bet there a way to neutralize this without using inorganic dissolved solids. Rainwater is distilled water and maybe a tiny bit of pollution picked up on its way down from the clouds. We are delighted with our distiller and the water we drink from it. Keep healthy, Prost

Distilled water is very bad for your health if used over 2 weeks. There are no electrolytes in distilled water or minerals. All minerals are inorganic. they are drawn up into plants, but they are the same as the minerals in spring water. Spring water and well water are best and filtered tap water is good. The little LED tester works in tap water because tap water has minerals and electrolytes that our bodies need to function in an optimum healthy manner. Distilled water is called "dead water" because it has nothing in it that the body needs. Don't hurt yourself with these false claims about the health benefits of distilled water. Test yourself with onions in water of different types. Whole onion set in a glass of all types of water. The ones in tap water and filtered tap water grow well. The distilled water one does not even sprout.

The amount of minerals in water is so small that if you were to rely solely on water for them, you would need to drink a bathtub's worth of water each day. Therefore, we must get the vast majority of these minerals from the food we eat. If you feel you are deficient in vitamins or minerals, I would suggest eating more fruit and vegetables. There is nothing wrong with drinking distilled water. Rainwater, if captured in a clean container, free of any runoff or splashes, will test under 50ppm TDS meaning rainwater is essentially distilled water before it hits the ground.

Lmao and us humans evolved from a different species. From monkeys! Lol No there has never been a picture taken of Earth from space. We can't even go up into space because there is a firmament enclosing the motionless flat earth. The Bible clearly says that God created a firmament to separate the waters but even so called Christians don't believe the earth is flat with a firmament. Stars are not sun's. Planets do not look like the made up cgi pictures that NASA gave us for the millions of dollars we paid them. "Planets" are wondering stars. You can even type in stars or planets through a telescope on the KZbin search and it shows what they really look like. The stars are sparkling, transparent lights that actually change color as they sparkle. The planets or wondering stars look amazing also and don't look anything like the solid cgi images that Nasholes try to say they are. NASA has been lieing to us from the beginning and the lies get bigger and bigger. We landed a rover in Mars now?! Lol come on now. Humanity can not be that stupid. Every rocket launching the rocket never goes straight up. It always turns sideways because it it went straight up it would run into the firmament. Did anyone have their distilled water change colour after some time? My friend kept his distilled water in the fridge in a glass bottle for 2-3 weeks and it became slightly yellow/brown. It has also formed some flakes that were floating in the water and that happens even sooner, like after a few days only. I've been drinking distilled water for over 10 years, had 3 different brands of distillers and never came across this problem, although I always drink it within 3-4 days. Does anyone have an idea what could be the cause, how to avoid/fix it? I would much appreciate any info on this. Thanks!

I have . distilled water running into a sealed glass tank filled with about 300 grams of elite shungite and santevia mineral stones... to add minerals... does any one else do this? My instincts said this was good... but there is so much information that I began to question what I was doing was right or not?... how much do you think that can increase ph levels?

My personal opinion... Don't spend you hard earning money on Minerals + Stones + Etc.... Just Glass Distilled Water and you will be fine. Spend money on your Vegetables + Fruits -Food, etc... That would be a wiser choice and you would get more Natural Minerals that way.

Can anyone tell me if Sea Salt would be classed as an organic or inorganic mineral? Salts such as Celtic sea salt or Himalayan Salt are ok to consume right?

Inorganic. Organic would be the natural sodium found in fruit or raw meat

What about the PH? Doesn't the process make it acidic? Isn't alkaline water better for the body??
@Anubisrunner08

whether you drink something acidic or alkaline doesn't make a difference to your body's Ph level when you are healthy.

Good experiment but saying that spring water is good is an over statement. First most water sold as spring water is not. Second, it depends how the spring water is collected to determine if it has been contaminated or not. Third, you don't know if the source of the spring water has been contaminated but if things like fracking are happening close enough, it can be contaminated. If you live in a mountainous area, with virgin forests, have a spring about half way down the mountain and there is not a large concentration above you of, say cows, you are probably in luck. That is why many people in Puerto Rico are piping springs and using the water coming down to drink, but not too many people have rain forests. Hint they don't drink from the open water that falls from the spring into the ground and streams. I would be lucky since the water my town uses comes from ancient water that collected underground after the last ice age, and we don't have much happening in the area. A few years back it won a contest that is held to determine the best city water in the US. BUT the idiots in city hall decided it needed chlorine and even worse fluoride and are contaminating the water. Strangely enough, before here I used to live in the ONLY area of the Minneapolis city that was receiving water for one of the few real springs here. (That spring water is being sold but I don't know if it is still any good.) People could not figure out why my water tasted different than the Minneapolis regular water, lets says that they are south of us and use Mississippi river water. I do not touch that water.

I drink distilled water, because I prefer it, but it not good to drink it exclusively. It does strip the body of some nutrients that you need.
@bobwreck3775
@bobwreck3775 5 жыл бұрын
If it stripped the body of organic cells then the rain water would melt trees since rain is distilled. Do you see the trees and grass melting away from rain?? No but you see roofs melting away right? That's because living things like us and trees have a negative charge like distilled does but inorganic substance like non living elements get grabbed as they have a positive charge. Oposites atract. It is impossible for distilled water to steal living organic minerals or vitamins from your body.

Why am i experiencing pain on my teeth and they seem to get little grey, like it would be leeching minerals? Also if im drinking only distilled water im experiencing heavy dizziness, paleness and other symptoms becouse its draining you out of electrolytes, or is there any other reason why it would be happening?
@4DTravelr

Good question. I do not understand this either, as supposedly it only leeches inorganic minerals. What do you drink nowadays?

You can :D. I was going to make a 100% Solar Distilled Water System and try it out. It's hard to get GLASS and GLASS TUBES. But I want to make one using Solar Panels and heat it up and then let it cool down and drip.

So positivly charged metals should not be in your body? Hemoglobin uses iron(ii) to transport oxygen, nitrogenase needs molybdenum and iron to convert N2 into NH3, aminopeptidases contain zinc same for alcoholdehydrogenases (and at least 1000 more).

No issue with it. In fact your stomach goes far lower than that when it digest. The pure water is what your body desires. The cleansing effect the water has makes you healthy overall and washed out all that old gunk.
