You need 8 inches of space on both left side & right side and top for air to come in the unit so it won't get hot. As mentioned in all manuals of Marantz. I have both SR8500 & SR5600 both old models but works great this 2020! Love it! Awsome setup you got there Sir! Enjoy!

I'm using an SR7500...It's sounds great and very detailed...And I sometimes wonder how different the sound is compared to modern integrated amps.

8 inches? That is way too much, what furniture has that.
@joe47908 ай бұрын
Looks like he's only using the receiver as a preamp. Won't generate as much heat when not driving the speakers. 8" is overkill in this application.

I have a Denon X4700H pre-outed to a Tonewinner AD-8300PA using all 11 channels. The L/C/R amps are higher power than the rest so when I'm listening to my records or CDs it's like I had the main speakers bi-amped, like I was able to do with my Denon before adding my back heights, and still use both subs to fill in the low end. My 7.2.4 setup is in my bedroom, which is probably too small for all the speakers, but I like it :>)
@aaroncohen6095 Жыл бұрын
Agreed...AVR as a preamp to power amp is a great way to go for a modern home setup. I would recommend more air space above both of those units, but I understand the constraints of modern furniture/built in wall units. Also, you are changing the sound of that center channel by putting the box within another box fyi.

Am I correct, that if you tweak bass and treble on Marantz, the changes are audible via pre out?

@khairulamilin96873 жыл бұрын
of cause AVR is one box solution. enough for normal ears. but if u want more, external amp is there. it just that no single can defeat the power of external amplifier

As an IT guy, I like to seperate signals from power as much as possible. Both digital and analog signals can get sloppy when there's bleed and cross talk.

You can as long as you do your research either go with small bookshelves, or self powered towers etc.

Wonderful setup! I would like to ask how’s the setup in Marantz powering up the tweeters of the front speakers, and let the external power amp driving the mid and bass of the front speakers as well? I know the physical connections via the preout, but I mean the Marantz configurations in the setup menu. I would like to try your way, but not sure the settings. Could you please share. Thanks
@hifisymphony Жыл бұрын
Is call biamping. Just use main speakers outs to power the highs on your speaker..... Then use the preouts of the Marantz to an external Amplifier to power the lows of your speakers.

I wanted to start off saying that I'm looking at the same TV stand that you're showing, from Wayfair. My concern was if the AVR and Amp would fit on the shelves. Looks like they do, unless you've modified the back panel to make them fit. Also, how does the center channel sound in that shelf compared to being out? Can a single pre out supply a surround sound signal to a 5 channel separate amp?
@hifisymphony3 жыл бұрын
This was custom made by a local guy that I gave the measurements
@garyausten59397 ай бұрын
For a 5 channel amp you'd need 5 pre-outs on the receiver - one for each channel.

Why did you choose the a21+ when you could of gotten the a31 and had your left right and center all powered through parasound? Just curious. I have the rf7iii and the rc64iii for the center and went with the parasound a31 to power the front soundstage. Now I’m thinking I could of went with the a21+ and got the extra 50 watts per channel on the front two and just let my anthem mrx 720 power the center and the rest of the surrounds. I wonder what other increased specifications the a21+ has?
@hifisymphony4 жыл бұрын
Personally I do 90% stereo music and 10%HT. I have a receiver that gives me excellent results in both. So the A21+ power my mains.... And the Marantz powers the center and Subs.

Sound quality has more to do with the dacs inside the receiver. An external dac will probably give you better sound quality than the ones that come inside the receiver. But using an external amp will help in a lot of cases.

Receivers today have more than enough power for any size room. No matter what you're told, amplifiers are a waste of money. There is no difference in sound clarity. What you hear is all in your imagination. Reading the other comments, others have also bought into the scam. Only reason for an amplifier is that it looks fancy on a gear rack.
@hifisymphony3 жыл бұрын
I agree in part... That now a days receivers are capable of delivering fenomenal music sound yes... But an external Amplifier is better in all shapes and sizes.
@-8_8-3 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can put low voltage signals right next to high power and get no difference in bleed and crosstalk. That's totally possible.
@williammorales82042 жыл бұрын
Go to best buy and try to run their higher end martin logan towers, or the bw towers with their receivers and see how crappy it sounds. The receivers don't do 4 ohm comfortably, less alone 2-3 dips in those towers. I have a ml 60xts and tried to run them off a dsp a-1 and it wasn't optimal. I went with cheap outlaw audio m2200 and it's day and night difference. Eventually I will upgrade to the a21+. Keep in mind my dspa1 was over 2k back in the day so it wasn't an entry level receiver by any means.
