I think I mentioned this in another one of your videos but it's kinda funny that we have a very similar experience. Interned at a popular commercial studio, became an assistant, became a staff engineer, worked on cool albums, worked with my dream artist but yet I still felt like I wasn't doing what I wanted. I left & worked for a producer, still felt the same and now I'm freelance. It's tough but I feel way better. The one thing I will say I miss about a commercial studio is the environment. Running into random people in the hallways, chatting with other engineers, ect. But otherwise I am pretty happy now that I'm freelance. Great video! The internet needs more real videos like this!

You did! I also miss the open door community vibe of the big studios. I learned so much and made so many friends. I also never really went home. haha. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!

quitting is easy for me. starting over sucks. got a big job from big client cancelled 3 hours before the meeting because of budget and I dont think it's because of budget. used to work for them 3 times last year but under different company name, with different team. changed team and company, suddenly i'm "the new guy" again.
