Katie, I live in England, I’m 50 next year, I was married with a mortgage by 22, I have 3 kids and I adore my family, but you are so right, live your dreams. I have. 22 year old son and I encourage him to travel, life is so short, there’s plenty of time to “settle down” or not. I love America and you are living my personal dream! Have fun, stay safe, make wonderful memories 🥰 xxx

The only question I’ll ask: if living in your car is so that you can travel.. why do you only post videos about living in a car? I think it’d be more interesting seeing what you actually do all day!!

Dromomania is a medical diagnosis, which is best described as pathological tourism, or a ceaseless desire to travel from one place to another. Sufferers are usually so tightly grasped by these impulses that they simply cannot resist and resign to a life of constant traveling.

Maryia Bratushchyk yeah I think she talks about that! I would just like to see more of her traveling and enjoying her life. Not her car lol
@mariam_4me
@mariam_4me 6 жыл бұрын
the subject suffering from dromomania is not guided by the desire to travel: he does not feel like going to exotic countries, to visit sights, to see the picturesque corners of the planet. That's why you don't see videos about actual travelling, she just says she likes to travel but in fact she needs moving all the time. It's a mental problem.

@@cassidy420 I wouldn't put too much credence in this persons diagnosis. I'm thinking she makes videos about living in her car because thats much more rare and hard to find than videos of people going to tourists spots in L.A.

@veronica carlson I'm not convinced. Feel like she's putting on a front out of pride. Campervan - plausible - a car is NOT a good vehicle to live in. She has a full time job, why would her dream be to live in an impractical space? So ridiculously impractical, she produces 'how to' videos to explain how she copes with it. What next.. KZbinr living on a motorbike? "Oh gosh it's always been my dream living on a motorbike. Here's how I build my makeshift roof to sleep under, here's how I deal with getting robbed and here's how I shit into a bag. That was my goal in life, so I gave up my apartment and decided to sleep on a bike instead of in a nice comfortable camper van"?? There'll be a back-story to this ladies life goals I'm sure...

@veronica carlson I'm not a control freak who wants to decide what others should do with their lives, I don't need that responsibility, it's their life to succeed(Whatever they decide succeeding is for them) or fail, not mine. So if a 16 - 70 year old is living like this and it's their choice to do so, more power to them. She's not alone, you should watch CheapRVLiving some time, he interviews lots of older people that live in vehicles/RVs by choice, many who also have their own KZbin channels. Getting into debt for a college education and to live in sticks and bricks, then getting married and having children severely limits your future choices. Living debt free with a steady income in a vehicle gives you more choices, not less.
@kitgames1174
@kitgames1174 4 жыл бұрын
@veronica carlson Living things live. Inanimate objects exist. What you think living is is irrelevant for everyone but you. Debt means that you do not have more money than you owe. She had a full time job doing online customer service, and she makes money doing KZbin videos, so she has money. And because she doesn't owe rent/mortgage, utilities, and everything else that can come with housing, she gets to keep more of that money she earns and save, unlike a lot of people renting or paying mortgages. Often on top of what they pay to own and maintain a vehicle.

This is so great. I lived in my car for about six months in 2011-2012. It was hands down my favorite "era" of my life. I had so much fun and so much freedom. I totally identify with the idea that it really pushes you to be creative and resourceful. I remember once I was somewhere with nowhere to take a shower, so I bought a couple gallons of distilled water at a 24 hour supermarket and pulled around to the side of the store and washed my hair in the parking lot with a jug if water. Taco Bell was my go to spot to freshen up/change because they all have single user restrooms right inside the door (rather than having to walk into the restaurant). I miss it a lot. My husband cringes to hear me raving about when I lived in my car because it sounds so scary and depressing to him, but it was an amazing experience.

Truly a miracle ...and I did it because of my spiritual walk with God. I wanted his will for my life so I said to HIM...I will stay in my car and if I’m doing your will ....then YOU provide, protect and give me peace! HE did all of that! If you want life like this your just like me and my fiancé. There are air bnbs you can pay to rent a spot in there safe backyard or driveways usually around 10-15 a night, which still is crazy cheap and your in a safe spot. You can book for 1 day or 20 days come and go as you please. Usually they Allow you to use the house during the day too between 10 and 10 is what my last place was. You can also rent out a spot and if you don't have a car set up a tent. There great for someone who wants to do what your doing. Plus then your safe and secure and never have to worry about someone bothering you, you get to shower, you get to cook food and save money on groceries, you get too relax and you can sleep inside or outside your car or whatever you want because your in a safe closed off area. My last place was a driveway that lead behind the house with a big backyard that a bunch of people were sleeping in there car, someone was even from Australia touring the country doing it, they had gotten a van and put the seats out and put a bed raised and plastic buckets under full of food and clothes and necessities and slid them out when needed and slept on the full bed frame mattress and all no box spring it would make it too big ( high) in the back. And then fronts seats wide open to drive, they stayed 2 weeks here in NJ, and were off too New Mexico after. So Yea check out sleep in your car air b&b's !!

At first I thought it was weird that someone would want to live in their car but you really do have all of that freedom. You are not tied down to house payment and all of the bills that come with it. Thank you for opening up my mind to something new!! :)

I have been fantasizing about living in my car the last several months seriously and I've kind of always had a secret desire to try it. Well it turns out I can't afford $30 a day now and I'm seriously going to go for it. Katie is like a beacon for me. Fortunately my car is enormous, gets exceptional gas mileage, and I have permanent plates so I don't have to pay taxes on it every year. After considering those factors I realized that RV life is just going to be too expensive but car life I can definitely do.

Im trying to find a nice way of telling those people just because you were afraid to chase your dreams doesnt mean i shouldnt chase mine. Its great to see others run after their dreams. I guess people are curious because it is somewhat unusual to live in a car. Curiosity is a not a bad thing, if it is about creating understanding & learning from others. However it is good if people can be respectful & non-judgemental. Just because it is different does not mean its wrong or bad, or of less value, as long as its not harming anyone. Different can be good, creative & valuable. Its great that people make different choices. It is great to see such variety. It makes the world a fascinating place.

It's still dangerous even if you think you are surrounded by people. Truck drivers are on a schedule and they don't have time to be witnesses to any harm coming to you. They have families to feed and mortgages to pay so they will not stop to give police reports. There was a woman raped in broad daylight in a truck stop parking lot and no one stopped it. I drive truck and I don't let men know I am alone in my truck. I don't leave my truck cab at truck stops unless I am getting fuel. If i have to leave my truck for necessity, I carry mace and a knife. I had a friend who did exactly what you are doing and I found myself being so envious that one day I went to work and by the end of the day I bought a van and started taking test trips. Not sure I could do a car but the freedom is indescribable. My van fits in a parking space and gets 24 mpgs so it isn't a baby RV. Knowing you can just go and stop when you are tired is crazy, crazy awesome. Not needing a hotel allows you to roam and stay as long as you want and not go broke. I have made so many friends and these days it is so easy to keep in touch with anyone on the planet. So when I am passing through a town it has become extremely easy to have company. I do have a home but I am never there and all the "Normal" people in my life have asked me all the same question you get. So you aren't alone and it is truly cool/fun to go to work and then go explore a new city or state after work. Good luck and be safe.

This was the first video I've watched of yours and your passion towards living the life you want to live has motivated me immensely! I've grown up in CT where I've come to learn, much like you said, that this isn't the lifestyle for me. I've been doing as much traveling as possible while saving up in the meantime to make moves out west, all the while getting a lot of passive questions about my plans. This video was just what I needed to remind me that I don't need to live a life that everyone understands. Much love from a new subscriber!

I've also read some of the comments that people leave and I'm stunned at how judgmental and rude people are! Everyone in our history that stood out or did something "different" was ridiculed and bashed for it! Somtimes people can't explain why they love to do the things they do. Its a driving force, its a feeling. Its where your soul feels most at peace. Thank you for actually living "outside of the box" and not be afraid to post about it. Thank you for not being a sheep of society and following ur own happiness. Its like the comment I wrote above. I don't know why Ive lately had the urge to sleep and be in my car all the time. It started with me pulling up late after work and listening to music and doing school work in my car, a couple of times I fell sleep and woke up more rested and peaceful than ever before, something to do with being outside in the world yet away and comfortable. I couldn't explain this, its just a feeling so stop judging people for something that you don't understand because let me tell you if everyone thought like those judgmental jerks this would be one boring and close minded world. ☮✌ out.

Watching this video made me suddenly realise that I should think about a goal for my life. It's something that I've seen said time and time again but this video really got through to me. I'm 20 years old, in university, with the goal of getting a job to make money...Which isn't really a great goal. I've never really thought about what things I would be doing apart from a job. At the moment I isolate myself at home waiting for the next school term to start, but I'm not working towards anything else. I've been motivated by the fear of not having the money to live and hopefully do what I want, but I don't actually know what I want. Thank you for making me understand that I need to think about what things I want to actually be doing apart from 'making money', though I'm sure a lot of it would involve making some.

+my CBD life It's a history degree. Took it because it was interesting, and most of the jobs that lead on from it just want you to have "a degree" so it's pretty flexible, lots of people go into accounting or marketing, government work, research etc. I think it's what I want to do but I won't just till I start it I guess, I took a foundation year to get into the course which will be starting this year. I'm planning to work this summer but I've been pretty unmotivated to write my CV up. It's hard to say what my job would be at the end of the degree. Marketing and research are pretty vague terms. It's hard to find an in-depth "day in the life" of people in different fields, just saying 'desk work' isn't very descriptive. I think I have to try different jobs to get a feel for it. I got interested in piloting a few weeks ago randomly, maybe if I win the lotto I'll train for that haha! Sorry for the blurt, just wanted to get everything out I had in my mind. So year, I think the degree will be fun regardless, fun to meet new people and have new experiences too. I'll figure it out when I can go into offices as an intern or for a graduate scheme. I'll just think of goals I'd like to do for now I guess. Thank you for taking the time to reply stranger :) Not often that people want to learn more about someone and talk, made my week!

I remember when I was 7 years old I saw a lady in her loaded car parked outside McDonald’s parking lot. At that time I thought maybe she’s moving then she got out the car with trash, clothes, and her toothbrush in her hands. I didn’t understand what she was doing, but felt really sad for her. Now I look back at it and realized that she could have been homeless and probably going to use McDonald’s restroom to clean up. Anyway I’m glad you’re not homeless. It feels awful. I was forced to move out of my parents at 17.

Great job, Katie. You are free, and a lot of people do not understand, “true freedom”. I feel you, Sister. You don’t worry about anything, and you let tomorrow’s worries be sufficient for tomorrow. I am retired military, and that is the way I think and live. Keep up the great work.

I so respect people who know themselves! You have accomplished so much and you continue to find happiness because you have spent the time and effort to know what you want out of today and for the immediate future. You are able to set goals because you know the difference between a GOAL and a WISH. Thank you for making videos that mean something and are just not entertaining. You do an excellent job!

What you could do, now that you have this newest updated video, is always maybe have it in your description as a reference link. Like, “wanna know why I live in my car? Click here!” If that makes any sense. Love your channel by the way!!

Here's a few questions : 1. How and where do you register the car if you have no address? 2. How do you vote with no address? 3. How do you have a drivers license and car insurance if you don't live in any one State /place? 4. How do you receive US mail? All these things require a fixed address, and since you admit to not having one I'm curious about how you obtain/maintain these things.

I lived in my car/tent for two months a couple of years ago, I didn't have a lot of choice at the time but I loved it and I absolutely get what you're talking about. I recently got a new car, and when I was shopping for it, the main thought at the back of my head was "could I live in this car"? I think the answer for the one I got is "Yes!". I kind of want to make the jump and do like you, live in my car and move from place to place. I'm sort of a little of the way there already as I commute 2 hours to uni and often stay either in the campsite or a hostel but spend most of my free time just hanging out in my car. I think this year, while the weather is ok, I might try sleeping in my car.

Smart girl She is getting paid for each product she endorses. This is a clever business. She attracts so many young subscribers who are for living " off grid" or " van life".....no, she is not off grid, nor in a van, but, it's the same concept. Getting paid, each time she flashes a product.

Cookie Star If she was getting paid for endorsing those products she would have to add a disclaimer for it. You can't receive compensation for a product you are endorsing without stating that is the case. Not doing so is against federal law.

Thank you for this video! My ex gf and I slept and lived out of my car for the entire summer because we were saving up for an apartment but while living with family we still wanted to spend as much time as we wanted to together so the car thing started reluctantly on my part. We unfortunately broke up but I continued on parking on a quiet block and sleeping in my honda civic coupe. I thought I was so crazy for still doing this and that's how I stumbled upon ur videos. I just love the feeling of being outside without actually being homeless or sleeping outside. I noticed that my anxiety is lessened when I wake up. Its so nice sleeping at night when its raining. I guess I just love how free and still a part of everything this routine makes me feel. I wake up, drive to go get coffee, go back to my mom's house, shower change and back out to my car or on the road I go.
