Why I require students to wear White Gis only

Craig Jones, one of the best No-Gi grappler in the world, has been very vocal about his opposition to uniform policies in Jiu-Jitsu schools.
In one of the episodes of his very funny podcast ("El Segundo") he said that Jiu-Jitsu schools should not have a uniform policy.
Furthermore, he is against making mandatory for students to buy merchandise exclusively from the school they attend.
He also criticizes Rafa Mendes for making his students wear White gis only, jokingly comparing his class with a "Klan meeting".
There are some things that I agree with Craig Jones in this regard and there are some that I don't.
In this video I give my take on the issue and explain the reasons why I, like Rafa Mendes, request students to only wear White gis at my Academy.

There is a 6th reason. Different coloured gi’s can spill or stain the mats. This is one of the reasons why our school is white gi only. I agree with that policy.

1. I can easily tell if a gi is dirty any color. It will stink 2. The white gi gets dirty armpit marks fairly quickly. I do think white blue and black are the only colors they should be though

There’s a difference between being so dirty that it stinks from afar (something that should never happen) and being improperly washed. If the gi is white you can see if there’s blood or something right away and treat the stain. It holds the students to a higher level of cleanliness as well as the school. I had a friend visit another school and he said the mats were so dirty it was rubbing off on his white gi. Disgusting. So not only do students get away with poor hygiene when wearing colored gis but schools too. If you have yellow under the arms, you’re not washing it right. I agree that having whites gis creates a sense of unity, instead of distracting from learning.

With multi-colored gis, jiu jitsu turns into clownery, i agree with only white gi, because is tradition
