I was riding a Husqvarna TX for several years. It's a good bike, no doubt, but once they started to switch to TPI, I made the switch to YZ. Bought an old 2011 YZ250, then a 2020 YZ250X and a 2020 YZ250. It's incredible how reliable and easy to maintain they are, and parts availability and prices are second to none.

I JUST had someone looking to trade a 2015 250XC-W for my YZ250. He said he just missed the way the YZ makes power. Along with being stupid reliable. Every KTM I’ve seen eventually has some starter issue. I’ll kick for now.
@panic-revv859 ай бұрын
@chrispewkreme I wouldn't buy and ktm pre 2017, or any tpi models. But I've been fortunate enough to own 6 different YZs including a 2017 and 2020 yz250x and currently use my 2023 ktm 300xc. Both bikes are great and very different from each other. I've always loved my yzs for their simplicity, but motor is no where near as powerful . The new tbi is an absolute nasty motor. Stock it blows any of my mod yzs out of the water. Plus, there are the ONLY brand still really pushing 2t development. Beta, sherco, and other manufacturers haven't introduced anything groundbreaking EVER. 2 bikes, 2 different personalities.

When I was growing up, a WR 250 two stroke,( or an RMX at a pinch…) was the most desirable weapon to aspire to as we rode our XR’s, TT’s and DR’s. I’ve done plenty of thumping around since I graduated from the old MX 100, but there used to be something so alluring about a razor sharp two stroke in tight enduro conditions.

My brother bought a 02” KTM300 mxc, put 300 hours on the stock piston. Maybe even rings. I’ve had lots of different bikes and brands and Ktm just worked for me. Probably going with a new Beta 200 in the spring as I love small bores. Happy trails 👍🏻🎉
@hamishbartholomaeus11 ай бұрын
I had the same model, and at somewhere North if 450 hours, I sent it to the shop with one of the work bikes, and the guy actually called me once he had the lid off to say “how nay hours did you say this top end had?!?” 🤣 He said there was absolutely no reason to replace anything, and it had at least another hundred hours in it… The 300 is in a class if it’s own for longevity.

Defiantly solid bikes. I still stand by my new Gas Gas but only because I think I’m a newer rider and the YZ takes more finesse. Loved mine. Nothing wrong with my X.

I've wanted a 250x now for three years. Still want one. Maybe next spring. The reasons I want one is that it is an absolutely proven without a doubt bulletproof platform that is simple. I don't race and I'm 56 and in great shape. Heck, two days ago I took my 450 RMX out for five hours. The RMX is exhausting and heavy, but the SOB has been a great motorcycle. The YZX has a little more HP than the RMX, the same torque, but is about 45lbs lighter. But I've never had a problem with the RMX and I feel the YZX would be the same. I think the 250x would be the perfect replacement.

You and Pol Tarres are showing the world what a YZ250 can do! I now understand I'm the limiting factor, not the bike. The other bikes just make riding a bit comfier. Sure, electric start and fuel injection/oil injection would be great. For me, the biggest perk of the Euro models, is simply having headlights. Yamaha is really just kinda ignoring a large market of riders. Maybe Fantic will fill this gap. I just wish Yamaha would add factory lights and electric start. Carburetors are fine. I'd honestly prefer Smart Carb/Lectron over fuel injection. In my mind, simpler is better. KTM has had their fair share of TPI issues. No thx.

The YZ is a good bike, but the Austrians progressed and the YZ didn't. The 300, e-start, and fuel injection are all luxuries for the weekend warrior, and competitive advantages for the racer. The only advantage the YZ has is suspension, KYB > Aer Forks all day.

When its not. When was the last time one of those guys even rode a Yamaha to even base their stupid opinion on? Or do they just read forums and watch KZbinrs tell them what to ride? I mean seriously..... I can tell you right now, In 20 years everybody is gonna be dying to get their hands on a YZ again. Just like the CR500 of today. It will only be remembered fondly and will become almost a collector bike. Mark my words.
