Love the entire story, really an example of the "trip there > trip reason", really enjoyed it.

Glad you came to Cleveland and the weather cooperated. It was an awesome day! I think we are coming your way on our way to Mariland to do the 135 bridges ride in August.

Weather was perfect on the day of the eclipse, and even better on the way back - 71°F all day!

@MarcTravels is total chaos. This makes him so likeable. But I would not be able to travel the way he does. 😂 I also love your style of travelling. Please don’t change it.

Excellent trip. I’m not an electric motorcycle guy, rode an electric motorcycle once at Barbers, was an awesome ride, that was quite the adventure you had. I think you did it more authentic than Charlie & Ewan. You handled it all with grace. Awesome eclipse, like you, had to chase for some blue skys, was southwest of you in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Take care.

Thanks! Probably my favorite moto trip so far. Certainly an adventure indeed. Have family down that way, great place to catch it!

Even if you get 99% coverage it's still incomparable to the total eclipse. It's truly a once in a lifetime experience, no photo can do it justice.

Dude, the frustration is real with charges stopping! I feel for you. Five or ten minutes, then it stops. Then I start it, five or ten minutes and it stops. Makes CCS so much less convenient.

I’ve had the same charge port lock fault (after 10-15 mins) with some EA chargers here in southern california, so I don’t think it was the cold. I wonder if the extraordinarily heavy charge cable pulls on the bike’s charge port lock. it’s insane to need to bring a spare 12v battery, what does Livewire say? Too many 12v accessories on your LW1? glad you were able to make it to totality, I’ve seen spectacular shots of the moon covering the sun, but I find photos/video are inadequate to capturing the experience of a total solar eclipse. best of luck on the next 20 years of your journey.

Ultimately it's 2 computers talking to each other, so theres bound to be some communication hiccups. The 12v battery drain is an issue in really cold temps and running multiple items - heated gear, GPS and my phone. Yeah there's nothing like watching it with your own eyes - absolutely stunning

Why didn't your wife come with you? I'm glad you got the chance to go the total eclipse! My wife and I flew from Portland, Oregon to Chicago, Illinois to stay with friends. We all drove down to Franklin, Indiana (in the center of the path of totality) and the weather was near perfect! A great experience (& our 2nd)!

For that point and no fixed route you should get a Beeline Navi. That's so fun. Just steer at the endpoint and let the world get you there. The lock port could be the lock thing. Get it open and lubbed. It's some plastic gears. On Energica's they fail too. Seen the eclipse 25 years ago I think. Amazing to really see the universe in action. How did you not get errors whilst changing the Battery? Mine only did this with the manual described procedure.

Not a bad idea - would give most EV moto riders anxiety !!! lol. If I let the bike cycle itself, it usually fixes the charge port fault error. Not sure why it doesn't throw fault codes on screen, it might have some pop up in the maintenance menu though

The design needs to be refined a little. I might make it available if I can have it made from a different material

My livewire is so annoying with the DC charging situations and incompatibilities. You would think that as HD's only DC capable EV which was introduced in 2019 they would have perfected the charging algorithm. Put this into the perspective of my 2017 Chevy Bolt that I have never updated the charging firmware and have never met a machine that I was incompatible with. How is it that the Bolt is universally compatible while the HD is 50/50 in terms of the stations it works with and was put into the market 3 years prior to the livewire? Harley needs to get the hell out of the EV space if they don't want to fix their charging issues. Imagine one of their gas bikes that you could only fuel at about half the stations due to incompatibilities? This is probably why they punted on DC for S2s and one small part of the reason why they haven't sold even 3k ELW/LW1s in 5 years of production.

It's both the bike and the charger - of which are running on completely different software and firmware. This wasn't always the case with EA until they changed their hardware a few years ago. I'm not an engineer, so I can't speak about compatibility issues. One day all this stuff will be a thing of the past
@LiveWire_Guy

@@AdventuresonZero I get it, but I don't. My 2017 Bolt has maintained compatibility with EA over the years and was introduced to the market before the Livewire and mine has never had a firmware update. So, I don't really get HD's problem. To your point, it was never a thing of the past for the Chevy. It was a new problem HD introduced.

Awesome trip... The only thing I don't understand is: If it's a so unique experience, WHY, not taking your wife and kids? Like... I understand we wnat ride your bike, produce content for the channel, but this kind of thing, I feel it's too uniqui to go enjoy by yourself and leave your wife with the responsabilities at home... just my opinion.

Kids were with their mom(divorced), wife was 6 months pregnant with breast cancer - plus I’m not sure how I’d fit everyone on the bike 😂 😉
