- As a 50yo smoker who started at 28yo, I do not recommend it. You think you'll take the consequences with it, but you have no idea. It will screw you over beyond anything you can even imagine. You're still young and your lungs can handle it for now. Until one day, you find yourself out of breath so much that you can barely get through your day. By that time, your teeth will be suffering, your looks will have degraded considerably, your arteries will be suffering, your eyes will degrade. It affects everything in your body. Even your brain will have changed, so that by then you probably can't quit to save your life (like me). You might need medications by then that could make you fat or other side-effects. Maybe you'll even have had operations to fix the consequences. All these things, horrible as they are, won't make it any easier to quit. You'll realize that if only you hadn't made the worst decision of your life by taking up smoking, your life would have turned out completely different. Even if you succeed in quitting then, you'll have a terrible toll on your health to bear, on top of craving the cigs. You'll probably end up with a smoking husband/boyfriend, if not alone and sick. You'll have spent a lot of money on cigs, that would otherwise have gone to productive activities to steer your life in a better direction. You might find that by smoking, you have been ignoring to fix emotional issues that are probably at the root of why you smoke. But you're 20 years down the line now, and in so much worse shape, you're not going to fix that emotional issue anymore as you'll be too busy dealing with the consequences of smoking (which you never even saw coming). - I wish for your own good that you could realize that now, instead of when it's too late. It's very irresponsible also to justify it on a KZbin channel, possibly taking others down this rabbithole with you. Smoking doesn't bring any benefits to your life, but it comes with a whole lot of problems. The little buzz or relaxing you get from smoking, you should find some other way to accomplish, like doing some sports or something. It will make all the difference 20 years from now!

That's really love that he doesn't want to let you smoke. No smoker likes to hear that they have to stop, even if we know what damage it is doing. That's the addiction. I don't even think I'll make it another 10 years in life. And in that time, I can expect some more surgeries. And still I haven't quit smoking. It's hard. But it's important. It should be my top priority to put all my (little) energy in. But life and other worries get in the way. Smoking is an emotional thing. A crutch to avoid dealing with certain issues I don't know how to fix. Knowing that I should quit is not the problem for me anymore, I am aware of that for a long time now. But actually doing it is difficult. I don't judge people for smoking, since I'm a smoker myself. But it is important to let other smokers know our regrets, especially the younger ones who still have a chance. Never justify smoking in any way. They don't want to hear it. But love is telling the truth, even if it's not what someone wants to hear. @@caniseeyourinsides

I've never felt the allure of smoking cigarettes, I've tried them but haven't cared for it. My dad started smoking in his early 20's and quit when he was around 26-27. I'm not sure how he started, but I've always remembered the story of how he quit. At around 3 AM in the morning, him and a friend were walking home, casually talking and smoking (His friend didn't smoke). The idea of quitting cigarettes was brought up, and my dad explained to his friend that he's going to quit soon, after he finishes this pack, so likely in a few days or so. His friend said to him "Why don't you just quit now?" My dad thought about it for a few seconds, took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw it and the mostly-full pack on the ground, and kept walking, He never smoked again after that. It's a simple story, but I've just always admired it because of how direct the decision was made. You hear all the time about people struggling to quit addictions and relapsing, or people planning to change at some arbitrary point in the future, setting new years resolutions etc. I think about his story a lot, and feel like that attitude can apply to a lot of things in life. The main point I take from it is; don't wait for the perfect opportunity to do what you want to do.

Personally I find that kind of strange as a cigarette smoker but you do you if u were my friend I’d definitely be happy about it but also save ur money Man U don’t need to do that especially since it’s less of a kind act and more of an enabling thing. Maybe carry around a lighter instead cos lighters have more than one use and can be handy in situations outside of drugs

@@moonpriest8016 Legitimately, I was the non smoker who carried around a lighter. I almost always rode my bike everywhere and you kinda need a lighter to help patch a popped tire, (fire helps fuse the patch and tire together) and I also hung out around the smokers on campus so I could help anyone who needed a light. Personally, I'd rather vape tho. The smell of cigs has always bugged me and I've been around it my whole life. Vaping is so much cleaner. If I'm actually gonna smoke something, I'd rather smoke weed over tobacco.

there is such a huge difference between people who chain smoke everyday vs people who have the occasional smoke and no one seems to want to talk about or recognize that... i suppose the majority of people progress along that line and ultimately become chain smokers.. but theyre the people you see smoking every hour... you dont notice the people who have a smoke once a week or once a month because really by todays standards theyre not smokers but like anything they can be enjoyed in moderation

I personally feel every smoker has had that one person that made them curious, a role model someone they look up too. A (grand)parent a teacher, a coach on a soccer team, an uncle, a neighbour who made it look like it felt so good, seeing the smoke shoot up a woman's nostrils when the French inhale. The time a saw a neighboor do a ghost inhale. The look of pure bliss. How can a thing that stinks so much give them so much pleasure. And born in 70's at some level people all ready knew it wasn't the most healthy thing to do. But it was a smokers inviroment, it was excepted. Like drinking still is. To the point you had to explain why you never smoked like people now question a person who doesnt drink alcohol. Back then at a birthday party as a host you would buy cigarettes brands you knew your guests would be smoking. And as a kid you would play in the mist of smoke aunts and uncles where creating. When a person announced people werent allowed to smoke in their home when visiting they stop coming. Going outside wasn't even an option. When you go to bar the smoke was so thick your clothes would stink for days. But you also didnt smell anything else which i find was in someways a good thing now you can smell the guy with sweating armpits a cross the room. I still enjoy watching a woman smoke a sigaret if she fully enjoys it. And still smoke myself. Only in private, not to bother or influence any kid/person by incident. And if hiding my smoking is a skill, i am very good at it. Over 40 years old never been caught. Not even believed when i told people i smoke. It never got to the point that the handed me a sigaret and asked me to smoke it. If it where a woman to ask me i would have done it no doubt. I am smoking now for 35 year's never exceeded half a pack a day. most of the time it half of that amount. But i do smoke and i dont think i am able to totally quit.

I smoked for 17 years, it was brutally difficult to quit. Took me 4 years and 20 attempts, and it was extremely uncomfortable, both physically and especially mentally. I'm not the one to moralize, do what you want to do, but I would urge you from the bottom of my heart to consider quitting while you can. The "one cigarette a day" habit doesn't last. It becomes two, three, four, pack a day, two packs a day, and at that point it's harder to quit smoking than it would be to quit heroin or alcohol. Nicotine is insidious and one of the worst substances I've ever quit.

I remember playing videos games with my neighbor in their living room as the mom sat next to us smoking and this went on for years. While I always found smoking disgusting, I also had this craving for a cigarette. I still have never smoked and never will but I realize now it's probably an addiction from second hand smoke and I'm sure if I start I probably couldn't stop which is even more motivation to never start. I really hope you stop because it's so bad for your health and you're obviously such a nice, intelligent, and beautiful person.

i had my first cigarette when i was at a carneval with a friend (i was so in love with her btw😭) we were already drunk when we went to buy a pack. then we met her classmate and we decided to smoke a ciggy together. i was so silly i tried acting like ive smoked many times before but i didn’t even know how to inhale properly😭 around a month after that i went on a holiday with people who ive never actually met before. i was so anxious at first but then at that night we went down to the beach and talked for a while. they gave me some hits from their vape and we just had such a fun time. after the holiday we became really close so we met again. one of them bought a pack and she gave each of us a cigarette. i don’t remember very well but because i didn’t feel any buzz i think i still didn’t inhale. around a week after that i decided to buy my own pack which was a winston blue. i was taking a walk in the park and thats when i learned how to inhale. the buzz was so awsome i had to sit down for a sec ahah. i had the same experience as Connie. my thoughts just flew away and i felt so mindful all of a sudden. since that i’ve been smoking one ciggy everyday. sometimes at night sometimes in the morning. whenever i feel like i want to clean my head for a while. i know very well it’s not a healthy thing to do and is in fact an addiction but it just feels so nice to calm down my anxious mind every now and then. also for anyone who read this have an amazing day

It won't stay at 1 a day. I bet even now you are having 2 on some days a month on from your comment. I guess you're young and won't take any advice from a stranger on the Internet. On the off chance, nicotine is extremely addictive to 90-odd percent of people. You won't feel the damage to your lungs for 2 years or more by which time you will find it unbelievably hard to quit. You probably never will from that point and if you do you will miss it for the rest of your life. You will start coughing and retching until you feel sick, or actually vomit on cold mornings. Your breath will stink to nonsmokers. I used to have 3-4 colds a year which always turned chesty and often needed antibiotics for opportunistic infections. Now I'm addicted to nicotine gum. Nobody can force you not to smoke. You have to decide now, while you still have a choice, whether to learn from my and others mistake or be a dumb idiot like I was.

I'm an ex smoker, it's been just about 10 years since I smoked a cigarette. I used to smoke half a pack a day, but would smoke more than one pack if I was hanging out with friends. Then they started making me feel sick and I noticed I felt better when I didn't smoke. Eventually I let it go. I went on vacation for a week without my ciggies and when I came back, I no longer needed it. But I still have the very last cigarette from the last pack I smoked 10 years ago! But I cherish my old smokey days. When I first started, I would ask my uncle for a ciggie because he was a smoker. I remember the first ciggie I smoked made me ultra dizzy and nauseas. But the next day, I wanted more and that's how it started. I'm glad I quit though, even the gas station clerks were telling me I shouldn't smoke. My teachers told me I shouldn't smoke too, so I knew at some point I had to quit.

I have been smoking since I was 14 years old (I can't believe it myself), and now at 26, I have made the decision to quit. It's proving to be the toughest challenge I've faced. I have been able to go for months without beer, which is another favorite pastime of mine, but cigarettes have always been the hardest to give up. Perhaps it's because smoking has been my go-to activity whenever I find myself alone reading a book or after, even when I am waiting for someone it has been my companion or when I am stress. It's also been a constant companion when I'm with friends, and especially when I am drinking coffee (I know, it's a bit unusual). In general, smoking has always been my default habit. I used to love it and enjoy it, but now, at 26, I've started to feel that it has made my life less fulfilling. I have noticed that my breathing has become increasingly labored, and activities like working out and jogging have become tiresome. However, the two things that I am truly fed up with as a smoker are the persistent coughing and excessive mucus production every morning and night. As a result, I visited the doctor to complain about these issues, and his conclusion was what I already suspected - it was due to smoking. I grew tired of having to spit regularly and coughing every 2 to 3 minutes. After receiving a warning from the doctor, I made the firm decision to quit. It has only been a month, and it's still incredibly challenging, but I constantly remind myself of the coughing and mucus production whenever I feel the urge to smoke. Sharing this story with you is not meant to discourage you on your smoking journey; rather, I want to make you aware that smoking does not have a positive impact on the body in the long run. The changes I have noticed in just a month are quite significant. I have observed improvements in my skin, and I rarely breathe through my mouth while walking or when I am tired. Additionally, working out no longer holds me back as it used to (although I still struggle with laziness). My advice to you, as you enjoy your journey as a smoker, is to never overlook the effects smoking may have on your health and body. It's crucial to keep a check on yourself; you can't afford to be careless.

I smoke 1 cig with coffe in the morning 1 cig with tea in the evening and 1 cig with a cup of wine at night. Smoking only 3 cigs a day makes me enjoy each and every cig so much and it makes every cig worth much more money i pay for it. It is like a profitable investment when you earn much more value that what you pay. I remember when i used to smoke a pack a day. The only cig i ever enjoyed is the first cig in the morning

It was one a day for me at the start, "to keep it in control". I started at 19, I'm 21 now. Then it went to 2, then to 4, then to 10, then to 15. I quit a week ago because I didn't like how I was a slave to this habit and also I could feel my lungs getting more and more damaged by the day. If you ask me, if you're not trying to self "delete" (like I was, hence a desperate last attempt to distract myself from my bad thoughts, and I didn't plan to live anyways), ANY other reason to start is dumb af and easy to avoid. Go for a run, hang out with friends, do anything else. And make no mistake, once you're a smoker, you'll come up with so many excuses. By then the addiction is already talking, it's not you at the helm anymore.

It's a faustian deal that ends up stripping much from your life, not just the very literal years stripped from you, but the financial side of things (5 euros here in Portugal per pack, like 20 in some other country, the more you smoke the steeper the cut in your spendable income becomes)

Im 17 and had my first cigarette about two years ago from peer pressure. I had been smoking them on and off and I decided to quit right before the summer of 2023 since I was a lifeguard and wanted healthy lungs. Since then I’ve only relapsed once but let me tell you these urges are really fucking hard to fight off sometimes but I know that mentality of “one more cigarette to relax” will lead me down a path where I won’t be able to see my grandkids grow up. I will do my best to stay strong and anyone else going through this may god be with you.

You gotta try Marlboro Southern Cut, one of my favorites, if not absolute. I do enjoy the Marboro double fusion/w-burst because I basically get 3 cig profiles in one toke, but it’s hard for me to acquire them. And I really enjoy menthols, but I live in California and menthol is banned here, so companies started using synthetic coolants and although I smoke Newport EXP 100s, I don’t get the hit I’m looking for. I vape as well and I love all sorts of flavors, that’s why I recommend southern cut because, it’s so good tasting, hints of chocolate and bourbon, and very smooth. Hope you try it, God bless you

I started coughing up really gross stuff and I really got tired of smelling like it. I quit once and it lasted 9 months but I went to a music festival and ended up smoking a bunch cigs because of the party favors I did all weekend. Then I quit again a year later because I had reached a point of being so grossed out by them that I couldn't take them anymore. And thank God it stuck. I can't explain it but somehow it was like a switch turned off and now they gross me out so so so much. I've never felt so negatively about cigs before and its a pretty great feeling knowing I'm never going back and it's been so much better for my life.

Ever time she came round she would force me to smoke properly!!. She would buy me cigarettes!! After a short time I can't remembr😂 I was addicted as to my aunts delight as I was unaware that my aunt was always trying to get one up on my mum!!. I still remember that day! My first big inhale wow ! I didn't expect it would be as pleasure as it was ! When ever she came to visit she would always get me to smoke properly. I didn't know at the time she made me a smoker!!.
