I'm kinda jealous of guys that can wear boxers. Every time I've attempted to wear them, I wind up hurting myself. Folks with low hangers tend to need the support that briefs/boxer briefs provide. It's a curse.

Amen to Boxers. I know exactly what you mean. That's exactly how I felt when I stopped wearing briefs and switched to boxer briefs. Boxers briefs are comfortable to me but the elastic in the waist and begins to ravel out before they get very old. I had been wearing boxers now and then for a long time but not entirely. At first I didn't like boxers because it felt strange without the fabric around me for support but that's been quite a while back. Briefs were never comfortable for me. Briefs fit tightly and cause rash on my inner thigh from rubbing. For comfort boxers shorts are the best in my opinion. Your boys downstairs do need more space. Men's reproductive health experts all claim that wearing briefs can cause fertility problems because more body heat is retained which can potentially harm or kill sperm cells.

Thanks for addressing (undressing?) this topic. I personally do not like boxers at all. But I do agree that I don't like the long legs of many boxer-briefs...but there's a solution. Get some trunks. Unlike boxer-briefs, trunks have a short inseam, with legs as short as 2", so you don't have that compression on your legs. Also, try getting some in a stretch fabric, with Polyester or Spandex. One pair I saw was 85% Polyester, 15% Spandex. Next, explore different fabrics. Calvin Klien, uses a fabric called "Modal" microfiber. It is very-soft. Moving on, when buying underwear, look for ones that have a "pouch" where the design leaves a special area for everything to go, not just flat fabric which willl compress everything.Finally, if you have a Ross store near you,, go there and experiment with some different styles. You can get some top-quality pairs for $5 to $10 max. Have fun! :o)

I agree with just about everything you said. I now wear boxer-briefs 90% of the time (I posted my own comments a few minutes ago), but the "trunks" version is better than the models with a longer inseam. I really like "Hanes Total Support" because of its large pouch and "supportive" strips of fabric.

I did the same thing going from briefs to boxers around the time gym class made us change our clothes. Swim briefs are a bit different since the material they are made of expands in the water and are very comfortable. The first time I tried them on when starting swim team I actually thought that I forgot to put my suit on when I went out to the pool and a breeze went past me! That is how minimal they feel. When it comes to undergarments I tend to alter back and forth between boxers and boxer briefs.

Thank you for your analysis and review. I'm surprised I've never run across one, until now. Until a year ago, I wore briefs my entire life. Always white, always limiting myself to 1 or 2 brands at a time. Then I noticed that boxer-briefs have become enormously popular in recent years, and I was curious as to how they would feel on my body. (Years ago I had tried boxers, but found I disliked the lack of support for my critical body parts -- too loose and unrestricted, even in a smaller size.) Now I think boxer-briefs are a "happy compromise" between the SUPPORT of briefs and the STYLE/APPEARANCE/COMFORT of boxers. Mine garments are from at least 6 brands, in a variety of colors. (Quite a change from having just 2 brands of tighty-whiteys! But a lot has changed in my life in the past few years.)

For me underwear (and clothes as a whole) really depends on the specific fit rather than the type. Some brands or specific designs are better than others. As the body is an organic thing, it’ll fit differently with different people. Sometimes it takes some experimentation, trial and error to get which specific cuts are right. And have fun with the style and fashion sense too.

I thought I was 'gifted' he put me to shame seeing him erect was about 12" a true weapon if there ever was one. He was lots of fun in and out of the bedroom. He wore boxers as briefs would just strangle him.

Are you referring to jock straps. In the locker room you remove your drawers and put on a jock strap to support and protect your boys downstairs. At least that is the way things were when I was in high school gym.

What he calls "boxers" are underwear made in the style of old-fashioned boxers' trunks, with elastic around the waistband, but loose fitting everywhere else. Does any of that sound familiar? If not, let me know what country you're in and I'll try to find something similar that you might recognize.

I always switch between boxers and boxer briefs depending on the situation. They all have their own pros and cons. Where's boxers make feel free and airated, they do little to protect you from that shameful moment when things develop a mind of their own not to mention the clear outline they make outside, boxer briefs win this round hands down. I personally prefer boxers and I've been putting them on for as long as I can remember and even if its boxer breifs day, I always can't wait to go back home and switch.

Little-boy tighty whities don't flatter anyone over 12 unless they have a great body, in which case bikini briefs (preferably black or a dark color) are better anyway. And so-called boxer briefs get droopy fast, plus all that lettering around the waistband. Like the old joke about young Calvin Klein saying to his mother as she's sewing name tapes on his camp clothes "I'll be the only one there with my name on their underpants." Traditional boxers have dignity.

I wore briefs as a child, then switched to boxers when i hit puberty. I wore boxer briefs for sports but stuck with boxers until just a couple of years ago. Now i wear boxer briefs, and sometimes ill wear short trunks if i want to feel a bit sexy. But boxer briefs support my penis and balls the best and they're comfortable on my upper thighs.

First, I have noticed people who wear boxers - who were 'raised a certain way' are constantly adjusting their crotch (junk) or pulling the fabric away or doing something a lot more "in public", not discreetly. Watch a baseball game and a pitcher and catcher are always 'self adjusting', IT IS appropriate - but the TV sports producers usually pan away. Just like people who drop curse words between every three words. In both cases it may mean they grew up in a very non-judgmental--non-corrective environment, which might be good; in the other case things become habit forming and not socially acceptable and become second nature. It all depends (and that is another topic - pee stains - briefs pick up the moisture faster, not boxers.) Second, just like women are always in the search for 'the right bra and panties' for the right time (men have less of a problem with this), so I have different types of underwear - for different purposes. Fabric, Style, and purpose: Mowing the lawn or exercising - wicking fabric, sleeping in the summer different type or post exercises before I go to bed - loose clothing, under dress pants (depending on the color of pants) another type. Possible romantic encounter, different style. Style and wanting to 'conceive a baby' another type. The choice of type of fabric is key - from silk (nope don't have those) to wicking, to cotton or blend. After or in college, I switched non-white for the most part - it hides a lot of errors.

Men sometimes just have to adjust. It should be seen as totally normal. It is a purely anatomical thing to do, and no one should comment on it or impose some societal norm for something that is related to the natural functioning of one's body.

@@scepticalchymist Yup I have sat down on my boys before, or they get kind of crushed, so I do kind of agree. But I used to have a friend who picked her nose (yes she was a female) constantly in front of everyone. I said lord, "She is never going to get married, and how is she ever going to get a job doing that." Well she did get married, and she did get a job - so what do I know - I am not sure if she 'fixed' her problem or what but things should be done 'discreetly'. I always remember, one of the first seasons episodes of Criminal Minds TV (perhaps it was CSI) show the line "Self-adjustment is not a crime'. Apparently someone adjusted themselves and a young cop thought that was their perpetrator. The story line escapes me, but the line has stuck in my head. FYI: I note that some women adjust constantly their stuff, too they just do it slightly differently LOL. We socially don't say anything to adults but do say things to children and sometimes to adolescents. And then there is always the issue of gas. My mother was a middle school teacher - math - she would have to 'remind the whole class' about deodorant, especially her afternoon classes, every couple of years. Hormones/pheromones go wild in middle school years.

@@df29208 Of course, it somehow depends on personal style too. Fixing these body problems is preferably done in a discreet way for sure. And some people just don't have manners, whatever they do in public. And yes, everything is more awkward for teenagers. They sometimes smell like pumas, if they take to less deodorant, and other times like a deodorant factory, if they take too much of it. It is indeed a tricky thing to find out, what is the perfect amount, since smell is perceived differently by people, and also one tends to not smell oneself really, which is a biochemical mechanism hardly to do anything about.
