Several of my Zara pieces now have tears and holes. I’ve only worn and washed them 3 times - no more than that. Zara sells the illusion of high end for cheaply made pieces. Some items are nice and well-made, but there’s a lot that just isnt. I still have some pieces that I’ve had for 10 years from H&M that still are wearable with no sign of wear and tear. Thank you for this talk, Thessely. I’m now shopping smarter and buying mainly only classic pieces that can be worn multiple ways and will always look nice no matter the year.

Girlll that part. I 100% with you. Not everything from fast fashion is garbage. I have some incredible pieces from mango/zara too that are well made and that I wear all the time, and that's totally fine in my opinion.

This is a great topic ! I stopped shopping fast fashion and prefer to thift when I need something. I often find nwt items and read the labels andake sure to pick only quality materials No cheap polyester or cheap brands. I'm a millionaire in the making and dont need to constantly shop, over consumption is major problem in the world 🌎

Wow WOW, WOW!!!! It’s amazing that I’ve alrdy started this “mindfulness” way of thinking towards shopping without even noticing why, other than I’m tired of this cycle! I shouldn’t have to replace every clothing item after just one or two seasons! So, I’ve slowly started purging and being more intentional with my purchases. Quality over quantity for sure ! And here u are with this educational video that’s really put a name on what I’m trying to accomplish. No more fast shopping!! I LOVE U, GIRLIE!! Looking forward to these next steps !

Hi Thessely I could hug you because finally you are speaking my language❤. First i must say I was drawn to your channel because I noticed how simply and elegant your style is. I live in Jamaica and everything is expensive so I cant shop alot but I always enjoy watching your videos. I think you should now use your platform to educate others especially the young people that spending their hard earned money on fast fashion is not good. I do understand that this is going to affect your earnings but this will give you peace of mind and your conscience will be free. I do buy cheaper clothes because to be honest I cant afford anything else but I am quite intentional when doing so. I really hope and pray that other influencers will start seeing things the way you do because things/times are changing and we need to be saving more now more than before. As you rightly said I cant understand why one need to have multiple of the same items and keep buying more every season. I am happy that living in the Caribbean I can wear anything anytime. No season to worry about. I do wish you all the best in your transition and I'm sure you will do well❤❤

Hey Thessely, I definitely noticed but with the cost of living crisis I guess I just felt like there are more priorities than constantly shopping/spending. Also I noticed whilst I loved and looked forward to your hauls because I would then use it to check out what was new, when you stopped uploading hauls I stopped checking mango/Zara/H&M which means in turn I haven’t also been shopping/spending so I really don’t need to buy anything new and indulge in fast fashion. Hauls bring in the subscribers, but it is not sustainable and quite frankly, exhausting. I was doing youtube for a quick minute and realized very quickly that I could not keep up. Thanks for taking the time to provide clarification, Thessely. I was really wondering what was going on. I recall you saying you wanted to focus more on styling tips and materials but I still didn't get why you weren't doing any hauls at all. Trust me I definitely get where you're coming from. I myself only recently became aware of the working conditions of garment workers in the clothing industry. I would prefer more of a balance though. Perhaps you can be more particular with where you do hauls from and the clothing. As a petite, with a similar body type to yours I looked forward to the haul videos to see how certain styles would look on me or just style inspiration. Its not always about buying the actual items. Sometimes you 'shop' your closet as you may have similar pieces that you can use to create the look. That being said, I'm here for whatever you do.

This was everything. I went through this. I stopped shopping in 2020 because I found I was buying so much from watching influencers. 90% of my closet still had tags on it. When I begin looking into decluttering I came across the traumas of fast fashion. I had to slow down and ask why I was shopping before I purchased because I was not in need. I do shop again now and I am very intentional. I was hoarding. And still am hoarding but not as much in the beginning but I am aware of the effects fast fashion has on me. This is a important subject. Thank you for your content. Whether you shop or just bring quality information, we are here to support you. You will succeed!

Hello Thessely, I appreciate you for sharing this and speaking your truth in terms of your growth and fashion consciousness. I live in London and I am in the process of sorting out my wardrobe; taking out summer clothes and putting back my autumn/winter clothes and your video is so on time, as I was thinking, I have too much clothes! That I don’t need and some items I don’t wear! I have managed to sell some of my unworn, or barely worn / used items on eBay but I still have a lot of items to remove. My wardrobe consists of items from Zara, H&M and Mango. I need to start being mindful, conscious and smart about my shopping habits. I could save so much money! Cause the truth is, I don’t need more clothes. I just have a habit of clothes shopping and buying items unnecessary. So, thank you 🙏🏾 I feel like you are talking to me and I am listening. I now have to start my journey, slowly but surely of cutting out my fast fashion habit. I’m screaming because as you talked about buying red lipsticks a Sephora notification popped up lol. So glad you made this move. I don’t really have clothes now after buying a bunch of junk for the last 2 years. Now I’m looking into buying timeless pieces that will last me years so this video came in perfect timing 💗 I’ve done something similar but with food. After my daughters diagnosis last year I’ve decided to become more aware of what I eat and what products I use on my baby. I too felt like I couldn’t eat shit bc most things leads to cancer and other health issues. I did the same with diapers and wipes and it’s so crazy the amount of chemicals that are in diapers like pampers or Huggies for example. Or with “water wipes”. I feel like they want to kill us all and make money at the hospitals at this point 😭

@@ThesselyJuliet yes i agree, I don’t believe it’s everything. But I do believe companies do this to make money obviously and to keep people at risk as far as food. Without health issues there would be no pharmacies etc which a billion dollar company. That’s how I think of it. Now with clothes definitely some places are just evil with their workers but is don’t think they’re trying to kill us. Maybe the workers by overworking them. Anyways, love the change and the journey your on 💗💗

Wow…I’m finally hearing an influencer speaking my language. First of all I love your style, personality and everything. Like you by nature I have never been an over consumerist. I have always been mindful of my spending because I like to keep more money in my pockets, lol however I have a love for fashion as well so that kinda puts one in a weird position. Some years ago I felt I wanted to learn to sew and that’s one of the best things that happened to me. It helped me learn about fabrics and proper garment construction. Ever since then, it has changed how I buy clothes. I naturally started looking at fabrics and garment construction. If the price of the clothing was more than the quality, I gently put it back. I also came to realize that I had developed a taste for quality clothes but also thought the prices for those were ridiculous. For fast fashion I could smell the low quality from afar so I usually avoid it or shop consciously paying attention to fabrics, hence having less clothing. As a content creator myself, I have tried to go out of my nature to do hauls but the amount of clothes one has to purchase is just sickening to me so growth has been stagnant and I have been thinking of ways I can still create content without becoming this person who constantly shops. This topic is a very deep one and it’s a constant battle in my mind as the people constantly shopping seem to be the ones constantly growing as fashion content creators. Anyhoo I am glad you are talking about this and bringing awareness to this issue.
@ThesselyJuliet

thank you so much dear. I wish I was handy to sew too, because that will definitely help to understand much more about clothing, and appreciate it more. This video made me so happy! Another reason why I will continue to follow you 👏🏻. When I started following you I honestly never felt overwhelmed with your content the way I felt with others. I struggled to find someone that was relatable with style and body shape, so I was very happy when I found you. I’m very careful with my shopping because this Pisces gets very overwhelmed with everything 😂. The same with makeup and skincare. I buy what I know works for my skin. I like to have one pink lipstick, neutral and red. I rarely use eyeshadow nowadays so one or two small palettes are more than enough. I am not a minimalist either but having less definitely makes me happier and I’m constantly decluttering my house. Know that I don’t follow anyone else for fashion on Instagram but you 😊. Girl, even if your videos aren’t about fashion, I’ll still watch. Greetings from Chicago!!! 🤍

OMG girl! What a beautiful comment. This made me smile. I'm a Pisces too, and I can relate to so much you mentioned here. I'm the biggest declutterer because i easily get overwhelmed too. Thanks so much for your support. I hope to visit Chicago one day!

Omg 😲 this is why I don't watch most of this tube channels, simply because all they are promoting 🙄 zara and buying buying and more buying, people don't have money 🙄 to be shopping all the time..God knows we don’t need all those clothes as well..so I stopped watching and I unfortunately don't watch or support fast fashion.. because these companies don't pay there workers enough money to live on..with everything going up the cost of living is so high for us to spend money on needless things😊
