As a physician, I'd recommend paying attention to your mental health as well, since flares often occur during periods of stress, which can significantly worsen the pain (not to mention concomitant fibromyalgia). I'm glad to hear you're doing better! Autoimmune diseases are not easy to manage. Looking forward to your videos ❤

Hey Elena, I wanted to reach out to thank you for sharing this story! I got diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome this year, which comes with symptoms that are similar to your rheumatism and stomach issues. I also had to learn how to deal with it whilst doing a competitive Management masters and working alongside, so for me it is really inspiring to see other young and chronically ill people who still strive to achieve something in their careers. Please continue to upload whenever you feel like it, you really give me hope that we sick people can still thrive in other areas of our lives. All the best to you! xx

Yes! Same! The chronic stomach and joint issues with Ehlers-Danlos are debilitating for me at times. I have an early morning job and it gets so tough for me to sleep through the nights sometimes and managing the day becomes harder. It also doesn't help that the issues make me feel like no one will ever love me because of all the issues they'll have to take on for me. But I send you strength and hope we learn to move beyond this diagnosis and become what we wanted to be :)

After watching this video, Elena I'm just so happy that you are back! I actually started watching your videos back when I was in high school like 4-5 years ago looking back. On the series of IB. I still remembered that the first video I watched was "How to get a 7 in History HL". You became my motivation ever since then, and I actully got a lot of inspirations from you when it comes to university application as well. Years have past, now I'm study at an American University studying Sociology, and wanting to do transfer. I checked up your IG stories and saw you did that surgery, I can resonate with you so much on these pain issues (didn't know you had to take that many medicine). Because personally, I was born with permanent cerebral palsy. I got 3 big surgeries in the 19 years of my life including one when I was about 10 years old ,where that surgery had 8 scars on my legs with 432 stitches. But here I am right now, alone studying at California and pursuing my dreams of becoming better everyday. You are still my motivation and you will always be! Stay strong Elena, welcome back 🥰

❤ so glad to see you back! Hope things will continue to get better! It's scary thinking how much nowadays doctors are specialized on single pathologies that they don't know how to deal with everything that goes out of their field and you get passed from one doctor to another until you find your answers... But at the same time to get good at treating certain medical problems you have to spend a lifetime studying just one of them...

I had a scoliosis surgery too, I know the struggle you talked about so well, of course im lucky that I have gone through the process without that type of complications, im really happy that you are starting to get better now. One look into the future, I had my surgery 4 years ago, and basic stuff like sitting is sooo much better now. Exercising definetly helps quite a lot. Pain will lessen although it will reappear once in a while and stay for a while but its managable, atleast in my case. Although I think you already considered it, please test different chairs, I sit about 7-8 hours a day bc of my job, and different chairs had a lot of different effects on my back pain, especially muscular one after sitting for long hours. So I can only recommend you to try and test some different chairs aswell as different settings for them, for example, one thats more loose so you could lean back always helped me to relieve some strain from my muscles but thats just preference. I wish you all the best and am happy youre back. Btw I slaughtered the english grammar enough atp, I know this im just to lazy to correct it :D

Hello, Elena. You are my biggest inspiration for pursuing my master's degree, which is something that I ended up doing now. I'm very grateful for that. I've had similar experience, and I know full well how it's like to have health problems which hinder your daily activities. I felt anxious all the time, worrying if I did something wrong after my surgery. Whenever the pain came, I blamed myself for not exercising properly as part of my rehabilitation. I'm amazed that you can do something like writing a book while being sick, but I guess that's just how you are. You always come back stronger, and I'm delighted to have you back!

Riesen Respekt an deinen Freund!

I too have ulcerative colitis, so unfortunately I know the incessant abdominal pain. Unfortunately autoimmune diseases like to appear in pairs and sometimes in larger groups. I have, in addition to UC, Hashimoto's, psoriasis, and PCOS (the latter not classified as autoimmune, but likes to occur with them). Doctors also suspect endometriosis. I also have a yet-to-be-diagnosed stomach problem and a sinus problem. I presumed that you have some health problems and that is why there are no new videos. In addition, with autoimmune diseases there is often anxiety and depression. Perhaps the solution would be to slightly re-profile the channel towards topics of dealing with autoimmune diseases? This is an increasingly prevalent problem. In any case, nice to see you. ❤ You helped to motivate me and I was studying together with you during Covid. I wish you to get well soon!
