I literally love this bag, been everywhere with me, it can be compressed totally with straps, and Im using it with osprey daylite 20L as combo which can be compressed to laptop bag size (I was using it under legs and Farpoint above head compartment... I got more simple now onboard, small fanny with powerbank phone etc and diet coke from vend or duty free. Even stuffed and double heavy over limit, it does not get any suspicion, I had it hanging just on one shoulder and even in situations, where staff literally checked everyone going through door, and sending poor selected ppl on side, they did not bother with us (but never flied with Ryanair for example). Problem is, its bag more for outdoorsy trips.... I feel already too old to be a mule on airports, walking with that heavy guy on back, tired on airport on long haul stops... Now picking a cabin wheeler instead, just dont wanna spend same amount for osprey wheeler even I like their design. For less adventurous trips etc Imma probably gonna end with expandable 40L cabin Roncato, could not find other lightweight wheeler under 2kg.

Used the same Osprey Backpack for a 3-week trip to the UK / Ireland recently, and it was perfect for the varying transportation I dealt with: International flights, a local flight, several bus rides, a sleeper train, a chartered boat and lots of walking in-between. The space and storability of the backpack made it easy to carry and stow it across all these modes of transport while sufficiently holding my luggage needs.

I recently bought the Farpoint 40. My travel bag was the Porter 30, but I felt I wanted just a tiny bit more space, and still be carry on compliant, for bringing back souvenirs from trips. I'll be using one or the other depending on the trip length.

Interesting video, I have a Farpoint 40L too. For me, I didn't like, need or want all the structure and organization. I just want one big section and a stash pocket for fast access to needed items. It took me a while to work that out. I ended up switching to a 36L rope bag, the Petzl Kliff and use Patagonia and Osprey packing cubes. Day bag-wise, I just use the Mystery Ranch Bindle 10 with a Maxpedition 1.5" Shoulder Pad to improve comfort if fully loaded. I'm not a fan of the Athleisure look a lot of travellers go with for myself and prefer clothing that's easy to maintain/hardwearing even if that means more weight/bulk.

Good to hear the size isn’t an issue on flights. How about weight? How much does yours weigh fully packed? The airline I’m getting on allows 8kgs
@WillFaulkner4 ай бұрын
@@KingFozzie1 yea for me it’s about 8kg. If it’s mostly clothing your fine. It’s electronics and shoes that weigh alot. However I don’t think airlines care much about carry on weigh. It’s usually more a size issue and they generally target suitcases

Generally speaking, most European airlines don't care (within reason, excluding massive hitch-hiker esque bags) about rucksacks. The reason for this is that you can squish a rucksack and generally shove it into the required dimensions. But with calm style suitcases, you cannot, and thus space matters a lot more, and add to the fact that those travellers care a lot more about keeping things uncreased and they know they can get more money out of them. Within I'd say 10 inches, you're fine with rucksacks. I have never known anyone to get checked nor have been myself.I should add this within Europe travel - I can't comment about transatlantic experiences.
