As someone who's bothered to put themselves through beating Ultra Nightmare for both the Campaign and DLC, I agree with nearly every point in this video. DOOM Eternal is needlessly bloated and unintuitive. DOOM '16 has a much more clear and refined focus instead of being bogged down by 15 different independent upgrade trees and mechanics that feel slapped together. And those unskippable cutscenes mid-level telling you where to go bother me so much on repeated playthroughs. Thanks for a great, and quite underappreciated video.

I have never heard anyone claim that 2016 was faster than eternal. Had to tell my friend to play 2016 before eternal because he was going to do it the other way around and ruin 16 for himself because of how much slower it is, and after he played them he agreed

2016 had Arcade Mode that stripped out all narrative and granted levels purely classic DOOM replayability. I enjoyed that, for later pick-up-and-play sessions. It was that feature that had me buy the game again on the Switch. I think this feature should make a comeback. Master Levels fill this need for the best players, but I can't see my girlfriend enjoying Master Levels the same way she enjoyed 2016's Arcade Mode.

@@TeryonTheHuman There should still be some option to permanently remove them IMO I’ve played through the game about 5 times now (100 if you count the failed ultra nightmare runs) and the cutscenes are a minor annoyance that would be cool to be able to turn off

"Messiah-iffication" refers to portraying someone as a savior or messianic figure, not intimidating. Given that the Doom Guy's hallmark is murdering the ever-loving-shit out of everything, that's probably not the sort of thing you'd want to worship somebody for.

It's so much fun to turn demons against each other, it's not something that is game-breaking in any way giving how tricky and uncommon it actually is. I can assure you that demon infighting is absolutely expected in any Doom videogame!

7:51 You can turn off empowered demons in the settings, I don’t see why you’re complaining about it when it’s an optional high risk high reward setting. Plus I’d rather have these cutscenes that I can skip in Eternal than unskippable ones in Doom 2016 like the Samuel Haden conversations.

In 2016 I was immersed by the gritty aesthetic and dark story. In eternal I was immersed by the gameplay.

Agree wholeheartedly I really can't explain it, but even with all the lore, there is something truly ominous about how the Slayer wqs portrayed in 2016. From just the beginning to when we start to hear the background, there was this sense of menace to him. Like sure, it's awesome to be him but it often felt like you were not supposed to BE this guy, coz he acted fairly normal and sure was a bit angry, but somehow his on screen actions do not give the sense of how truly, incomprehensibly powerful he is based on the demon lore. And at some points it was genuinely terrifying, to know that the guy you played as was an ancient curse contained by getting a building dropped on him. It was this menace that Eternal, for all its perfection, couldn't replicate.

@@404_my_life That sounds like two mechanics happen simultaneously than them interacting with each other. Their effects don't change due to each other's presence. To give you an example, I have two weapon interactions from Ultrakill. 1.Railgun coin. There is a handgun alternate fire in Ultrakill that let you throw a coin and reflect your shot off it into an enemy weak point. You can throw a coin, switch to the railgun and shoot it to deflect the railgun's shot into enemy. The railgun gains a new property because it interacts with the coin. 2.Shotgun punch. With proper timing you can punch a shotgun shell to make the pellets fly faster and explode on contact. Once against, new property due to interaction. You can't really say they interact when they don't do anything new as a result of their combination.

@@H3_Noc But if it looks jumpable why prevent the player with a respawn? Why not just extend the wall a bit higher? In Titanfall 2 you can jump, boost and climb everywhere but the level design is made with the abilities in mind, so it doesn't break immersion when you can't go somewhere that looks traversable

@@deadtake2664 The level design in Eternal felt a little too Mario like. Floating platforms with spinning fire balls, glowing green weapon drops, and floating question marks. All that kinda dropped the realism aspect I liked in 2016. In 2016 you'd have to loot weapons and keycards off of body's instead of picking them up while they're floating in the air. You'd have to find secrets and not look for a yellow question mark. Each new weapon and new demon had an interesting animation. I also prefer the possessed from 2016. Everything felt more hellish and less like an alien invasion. I thought the rune challenges were fun and sucked they weren't in Eternal. The chainsaw animations and glory kills felt more brutal too. The UAC was one of my favorite environments and definitely helped with the atmosphere and realism. I know they were trying to go back to a classic style but I prefer the more modern style. The UI felt like a downgrade as well for me personally. They also didn't include the classic maps like before which were an interesting and unique idea. These are some of the things I preferred however Eternal is better in many aspects like combat and gameplay. Hopefully in the next game they combine these aspects.

@@nike_swoosh9122 i would agree. while i agree with many of the points made in the vid (tho maybe not as vehemently- i still like doom eternal quite a bit) the atmosphere change is still pretty jarring. maybe even more-so than the enemy redesigns. also, 2016 had better boss encounters. eternal just has 2 enemies that get downgraded to normal enemies and one big dmg sponge... oh, and adds. sooooo many adds (cuz you’d run outta ammo and health i guess?). 2016 had focused fights that made the bosses really feel like powerful enemies since they took 100%of your attention.

I dont want to go on an entire 5 paragraph rant but I want to point out a few things The different upgrades serve very different purposes, having all of them combined into one currency would result in just everyone getting one specific upgrade at a time and not utilizing all the mechanics. Its not really that hard to difrientiate them either. Eternal is more focused on thinking while shooting, knowing what guns and its add ons to use on what enemy and to prioritize what the highest threats are to deal with them properly while simultaneously dodging all the others. The Marauder is supposed to add another level of gameplay to packed fights to keep you on the move so you cant just blast him in one hit and move on, you are forced to dodge and attack only when you can. Chainsaws are supposed to be used to refuel on ammo while crucible is used for specific demon removal, they serve very different purposes, and the grapple hook is supposed to be used for movement in combat to get around faster, was never meant to be used for platforming.

agree fully but i feel like the melee nerf was just unnecessary,either change the animation to doom guy just pushing back enemies with his gun so it makes sense why enemies only get staggered or make it as damaging as 2016. In ultra nightmare they can make it the normal eternal melee again,doesn't bother me much but jesus i feel so under powered using a chainsaw on a weak ass imp or zombie edit: spelling

@@MGrey-qb5xz Yeah I have no clue why they nerfed the punch especially since they made the slayers forearms and biceps gorilla sized in this game. I also wish each demon had the amount of glory kill animations as 2016, there were so many good glory kills in 2016 but there feels like there's only like 4 per demon in eternal.

I’d like the Marauder more if he actually felt functional half the time. He constantly gets stuck on level geometry, uses ranged attacks up in your face and doesn’t seem to consistently stagger from some attacks. It forces you to use only a small bit of your arsenal and it just feels bad. The absolute worst part about him though is how he breaks game logic. He puts down his shield to attack you, but if you try and counter hit him he just... magically has the shield back up again. Only his very specific overhead swing can be “parried” and it’s really shitty. People always try and compare the Marauder to a Dark Souls enemy, but in DS or Bloodborne if you successfully hit an enemy with enough damage during *any* attack, they stagger. But the Marauder puts his giant shield down so he can blast you with his shotgun and if you try and retaliate, he just blocks it anyway? Fuck that, I hit him with *hitscan* while he had no visible defenses up and it doesn’t count because “herp derp you gotta wait for the super special glowy eye attack”. That’s nonsense. The devs need to go and play Bloodborne again to see what fair counter play is actually like.

@@Prankmeister1990 You can damage him in those moments where his shield are down but you can only stagger him when he uses the big green glow attack. You can damage him with his shield up with remote detonate behind his shield, a grenade under his feet, if you use a bfg shot he'll turn to block it giving you a shot at his back. Look up more ways to attack the marauder, his tutorial text box really tells you nothing.

@@PretentiousAdonis Oh trust me, I'm aware of the other ways to deal with him. In more rough fights I basically just use stickies and remote detonation to whittle him down while focusing on the rest of the demons in the arena. Quickswapping to the Unmakyr after a stagger is a great way to deal with him quickly, and I've been practicing the auto-shutgun/grenade stunlock combo that Mayo uses. Still, I feel that even if you don't get a hard stagger when hitting the Marauder during his other attacks, you should at least be able to interrupt them.

Tbh honest I prefer doom eternal because its harder and forces you to use all your resources to beat fights. I'll prefer this than doom 2016 where the game got easier because you got more upgrades.

Not only that, when you have full armor and health, you can get a ruin that gives INFINITE BFG AMMO. so yeah. You can see where it's becoming easy.

Yeah 2016 is really easy if you get the mechanic even on nightmare. The hardest part of UN isn't even fighting demon but rather the platforming since 1 miss jump will end your run. Eternal done much better job at difficulty where the higher difficulty is challenging and a real test of your skill. In 2016 game pretty much hand a power to you but in Eternal you have to earn it by learning and practicing.

I first played the classic dooms, so when I saw 2016 announced I was amazed, eternal feels very cartoony, like a brutal kids game, but still very fun, both are great

I mean it’s fair and perfectly fine to say “hey, 2016 has these features that I like and Eternal has these features that I don’t like, due to my personal taste” but to frame it as this is why Eternal is BAD, or not as good, is just wrong. Maybe you can’t be bothered to learn the more intricate combat system in Eternal and therefore don’t enjoy it as much which is fine, but eternal gives you tools that if you learn to use not only will you not struggle with the game but you’ll have even more fun, so to claim the game is worse since you can’t be bothered to personally learn its systems is, well, simply false.

Doom Eternal fucking sucks when you start out because it is quite unforgiveable ito freedom. Later when you learn the complex combat system it becomes more interesting and enjoyable though I feel a bit contrived in the combat system. If you give me 10 choices but I can only pick 1 or 2 of them is the combat than more complex than when I could just do pretty much whatver I wanted to do in DOOM 2016? I guess you need to force players to use certain tools otherwise why use those tools. But I guess the atmosphere and brutality of 2016 just make it far more enjoyable for me than the far more cartooney approach if eternal.

5:07 I heavily disagree with that. Everything was made perfectly for the combat. The regular grenades are used not just to hurt enemies and throw into the mouths of Cacodemons but to falter enemies in heavy combat. The flame belch is a perfect tool to use in an area with a lot of smaller demons on some smaller enemies in combat. The chainsaw is in my opinion one of the greatest changes in the entire franchise. Ammo is low on purpose, the game encourages you to switch weapons often to save ammo and do more damage, it also helps with not making the game repetitive and boring after a while. Also Empowered demons can be turned off. The upgrading system in Eternal is the same like it was in 2016 except the argent cells became crystals and Chips became Tokens. And the Marauder? Really? Just 2 weapons (super shotgun and the balista) are enough to take him down after his eyes glow 3 times.

In the footage he's constantly shooting the Marauders shield and getting up in his face. I get the feeling that it's not so much that the mechanics are half baked, as much as it is that he didn't really take the time to learn them properly as he wanted to blaze through the combat the way he did in 2016. But, why would you? We already have that game.

You know what the chainsaw should be used for? CUTTING THE FUCKER IN HALF. You know what the flame belch should be good for? INCINERATING your enemy. You know why grenades are famous? The game has been out almost a year and this dude doesn't even know you can cut tutorials and empowered demons off. He doesn't even understand the difference between the chainsaw and crucible when the game clearly outlines their individual roles. This video once again exemplifies the divide between 2016 players and Eternal players pretty much perfectly. I think glory kills are annoying too. That's why instead of using the shotgun grenades or frags on Cacodemons, I use the arbalest instead. Especially in situations where -There are multiple of them -There are other flying enemies IE Pain Elementals -I already have the ballista out because I'm fighting a Marauder, etc The game returns to what made Doom 1 and 2 beautiful; by virtue of how a level/room is designed, and how the enemies are placed within that room, the "right tool for the job" is dynamic; it's not always the same weapon or mod. This is a stark contrast to 2016 where if you wanted to just fly through SSG > Guass > RPG, that's all you ever needed ever. When someone who's used to Doom 2016's combat style comes across this, they find a single dominant strategy and stick to it, even if the situation calls for something else, which is why you constantly get Low Health/Low Ammo. -------------- Overall the thesis of your argument is that Eternal has a lot of half baked ideas that don't mesh with the core concepts and that 2016 had fewer of these concepts and executed them better. However, in watching this video I feel it's less that the ideas are half baked and more that you're not using them to their fullest potential and thus get that sense from them. I don't mean this to say you're "Bad at video games", etc. There's a very, VERY interesting argument to be made about how Doom 2016 being the precursor to Eternal purposefully sets you up for this mindset. In the days leading up to Eternal, I played Doom 2 on UV-Fast monsters. This was a fantastic experience and IMO the best way to play Doom 2. Weapons start being way more useful, positioning becomes way more important, every single thing you do is calcuated in real time. This is the experience I wanted from Eternal, and the experience I was given. When I hop into the Gore Nest Master Level a year later, I find myself constantly switching weapons and utilizing their mods, using grenades to deal damage alongside my gun, using the meathook to traverse combat arenas, using flamethrowers and glory kills to keep my stack up, using Blood punches on Doom Hunters and Cyber-Mancubi, etc. These systems don't feel half baked; in fact, I keep finding new ways to exploit the falter system to make my life easier in intense fights. THIS, is what makes Eternal an interesting game. A few weeks ago, I learned about Microwave Beam tapping. By using it on an enemy for only a split second, you can stun them with it, switch back to a damage dealer and shoot them, then switch back to the microwave beam, repeating until they're dead. This makes it so Tyrants and Barons can't so much as get a shot off on you, but it forces you to walk slower and can only be done to one enemy, which means it's not super overpowered. I incorporated it into my playstyle, and used it against enemies like them. However, days after that, I accidentally microwave beamed a pinky and came to the realization that this stun lasts long enough for me to get behind them and put a double barrel up its ass. I came to this realization all on my own, and after 300 hours of play I found yet ANOTHER way of dealing with Pinkies that saves on Blood Punch and doesn't require baiting a charge. THIS, is what makes Eternal an interesting game. This is what 2016 could never offer due to the simplicity of its combat loop, and the fact that ultimately you were never forced to "use the right tool for the job". I was never pushed to find a better way to deal with any enemy because the SSG double shot did just fine. 2016 feels more mindless than Eternal, and the latter's mindfulness is where I want the series to go, as that's what made Doom 2 a great game in the first place. I really think you'd enjoy it a lot more if you tried to play with this mindset. I remember a friend once told me to play Half Life "like a theoretical physicist", and all of a sudden I enjoyed dealing with HECUs a lot more because I was using weapons like Snarks and the Hivehead to break up their military strategy and making them easier to fight. I still think Half Life is at fault for the original mindset I took, because the way the aliens are introduced in Unforeseen Consequences beg the player to play the game as if it were Quake or Duke Nukem. With Doom Eternal, I feel like it's at fault for being a sequel to 2016. You go into it with the same mindset as you would 2016 and the game seems bloated and confused. If you go in with it using that Fast Monsters mindset, seeing these tools as tools, finding ways to mix and match them to improve your killing power, the game blows 2016 out of the water.

I think the reason it ended up being so divisive is because some people ended up engaging with the hype, and some didn't. For people who went in completely blind, they expected 2016 2. For people who didn't, and who paid attention to a lot of the media surrounding Eternal prior to its release, they already expected a very different game, and thus that's what they got and were happy with it. This divide is incredibly fascinating to me, and I think the ACTUAL lesson to gleam from Eternal is that if you're going to take your sequel in a new direction, you need to lampshade this in a way that ANYONE playing that game will understand.

Most of the problems seem to arise from not wanting to learn all the new mechanics. Which is ok. I also got very frustrated at first, but after some trial and error and experimentation the game became a blast.

yeah for most of my first playthrough I ignored most mechanics thinking it would be too much to focus on, even now I still dont use ice grenade, but Ive definitely improved a lot from using them, the super gore nest master level on classic mode taught me to use different attachments than I usually do for example

I don't agree with all your points, and I should probably reserve full judgment for when I complete the game, but I, too, thought 2016 was more fun. The whole thing that makes the Slayer so cool is that he doesn't care how he does it, he'll fuck you up and you're gonna have a bad time. 2016 really gave me that feeling. Like, "Look, you can spawn 4 Barons and 16 Mancubi at the same time, but they're all trapped in here with me. I might get fucked up, but they'll be dead." With Eternal, even on the first level, it felt like I was expected to solve a puzzle with every single enemy I encountered, and juggle them all at the same time.

It felt like ID tried really hard to make DOOM in itself be gritty and horrorish. With DOOM 3 they went over board. Then DOOM 2016 kept the grittiness but brought back the classic gameplay.

it really didn't brought back the classic gameplay though did it? have you played the originals? i don't know. i bought doom 2016, finished it. then after, i bought doom 1, and i fucking loved it. i thought it was tremendous. bought doom 2, finished it, all on ultraviolence, thought it was a bit worst than doom ( i'm talking about ultimate doom). i feel like Doom perfected the kind of game that doom is, and every game after it seemed to have strayed away into a weird, new territory that doesn't seem to capture that magic. Doom 1 was all about level design. few enemy types, fewerweapon types, but man the levels are addictive to power through, each weapon is very specific in its usage, and the enemies are their own variety of annoying. i like doom 2's addition but yea doom 2016 i completely forgot about at this point, not even thinking about it anymore, its gone from my head.

I love doom 2016 more for it's realism, violence/seriousness, and realistic maps like you are actually going through a facility. It was only in the hell parts that started feeling like an arena. I love doom eternal though for it's fast-paced, high mobility, badass arsenal, epic powers, and demons. (ngl I liked the doom 2016 baren of hell for it's classic look), though felt more silly/comical. Both of them have their badass assets, but I feel like if the next doom game is DOOM's realism and seriousness, and DOOM Eternal's arsenal, mobility, demons, and story, I would shit myself in fanboyness. (ID if you see this, please make a cooler way to find weapons again though lol)

As much as I respect you're opinion, this is why almost everyone in the Doom community has no respect for you. If you're going to criticize a game, then don't just compare it to the game that you like more. You're bias is completely blatant and that's a problem. On top of that, not to say get gud or anything, but if you didn't play the game as if it was Doom 2016, I'm sure you'd have significantly more fun. One criticizer of bad Doom Eternal reviews like this one put it best: "In Doom 2016, you're dream of slaying with no problem and mercy was given to you. In Doom Eternal you have to earn it." Tbh if that last phrase doesn't sit well with you, then you probably aren't really well suited for Doom games. You don't deserve the cruel hatred, but come on dude. Doom 2016 is much more of a Doom game then Eternal is. If someone didn't like 2016 then they probably wouldn't like 93, or 2. If someone didn't like Doom Eternal I would say that's fine since its not emblematic of the Doom franchise. Its a lot like Doom 3 in that regard.

If we actually took those claims and made eternal then it would be the same game as 2016. They brought change, that I have listened to multiple people talking about them and thought about myself, is healthier for the game. Sure, it is completely okay to not like these, but the sole reason to that can’t be because they are different then the game before.

Some of us have lives and responsibilities that are more important than learning to get good at a video game. I am in my 30s with a full time job and a family and limited free time. I do not have the time or energy for that kind of aggravation anymore. If I am not enjoying a game I am going to stop playing it. and move on to something else which is what I did with Doom Eternal.

I think the only thing I prefer in 2016 to eternal is the art style, but even then, I enjoy a lot of what eternal brings to the table Only gripe is that everything glows and breaks any immersion I have in the game, I'd rather pull the super shotty off of a dead soldier than find it glowing and spinning in the middle of a level, yk?

@@Blue-Apple-fc9eo who cares about ammo? You’d pick them up anyway so faint white glow works fine. Besides, the removal of weapon pickup animation is one of the worst thing they could do. Sometimes I go balls deep into the level without realizing I have that weapon because there was no animation for it and picking weapons is 100x better as a buffer moment than parkours and puzzles

@@KhangNguyen-um4rg The reason why they remove the weapon pickup is because it’s unnecessary when you see it an thousand times and having parkours and puzzles in doom eternal in my opinion the best thing they can do if you think that’s a bad thing would you rather walk aimlessly in halls for minutes on end or actually use your brain and learn how to solve puzzles and test your platforming skills to get better at the game.

@@necrosteel5013 That’s one way to balance it. You could also go the other way and use it as an excuse to spawn more higher-tier enemies in the later levels to bait out extra charges. Honestly, I’m also kinda peeved that there isn’t a dedicated melee option. I want to be able to rip and tear through zombies without having to swap to my rifle and delicately dome them between beat downs.

@@Tobigood then play Doom 2016 lol. Forcing you to use guns is the whole point with Doom Eternal's mechanics. If it didn't force you to use guns, you wouldn't have to think about ammo, which completely destroys the whole chainsaw mechanic and weapon swap mechanics. That's what makes Eternal so much more engaging. Also, blood punch is a fantastic tool that has massive potential in the falter and weakpoint mechanics, and it's balanced out by having to recharge it with glory kills, health, and armor pickups. If you just take time to learn the game's mechanics, you'll have a great time with it.

The main problem I have with your review is that you make it sound so objective. I think the issue you're having isn't that the mechanics of Eternal aren't thought out and don't mesh together, but rather they just don't mesh with your preferred way of playing. Listening to the game director in interviews clearly shows how much thought went into the mechanics, and it speaks in the encounter design. Lots of people, including myself, find these mechanics compelling, and an evolution of the FPS genre. This game is nutty at high level play, and the mechanics are meant to push you to play at that level. It's incredibly fun and engaging because of how many decisions you have to make, and seeing the right decisions pay off is satisfying. It may not be your preference, but there's nothing wrong with a game being complex and expecting you to master its complexity, especially if it's fun. It just seems so wrong to dismiss the mechanics, and all the work that went into tuning them, as unfocused and not thought out, when they clearly are. It just feels like you're stating your preference in playstyle as objective fact, instead of recognizing that it just doesn't resonate with you.

1) There was no need to cut the ammo count in half. Then introducing the chainsaw not as a fun tool, but as an annoying necessity. Just giving enemies weakspots would have been enough to encourage weapon switching. 5) I will never forgive the devs for what they did with DEternal. I expected a sequel to Doom 2016. I got baited into wasting my money on sheer frustration and the only joy I got was from collectibles. Not like I can refund the game when the campaign is supposed to be 14 hours. 6) Every fight was just annoying. I never thought "hell yes". I always thought "just die already" "stop biting me" "WILL YOU GIVE ME A SECOND TO BREATHE" "CAN YOU STOP EXISTING MARAUDER, YOU ARE A MINI BOSS" "Why the hell is there a totem now" "Great, another Arch-vile" "Why do you ghosts exist, who thought you were a good idea?!?!". Dark Souls 1 (I've not player 2 and 3 yet) always made me think "I'll get you this time" The devs had Doom 2016 and the Souls series to learn from on how to not make enemies frustrating and they fuck up because they wanted to make cool stuff instead of making a good product.

For me the Doom 2016 was better in one thing: for me it was closer to the original Doom. We were locked on Mars, it was less colorful and arcade also the Slayer was... more human and the cinematic trailer for 2016 was just awesome. Either way I love both 2016 and Eternal, id Software really showed how to make and awesome old school shooter without millions of microtrasactions.

There is so much wrong with this review 1 buff totems and archvilles are different because can fight and one can't and the archville is one of the few super heavies which makes it a tough enemy making a sort of upgrade to the buff totem 2 the chainsaw is meant to be a break to check your abilities and for ammo restock the crucible is meant for taking down big enemys they are similar but shouldn't share the same ammo 3 you can use the meat hook to move around the map quickly idk how you played the game twice without noticing 4 there aren't an insane amount of currency and the crystals aren't even a currency you use them on the spot and the mastery tokens aren't introduced till the last 3rd of the game. 5 empowered demons can be turned off 6 the marauder gets easier the more you play and master the systems of the game you can't just fire the minigun into his shield and hope you hit him when he's vulnerable. 7 how did you get lost in eternal did you even look at the map

The main problem with this review or game I guess is that its a game for doom fans and people that want to master the game. At first I hated the marauder. Then I learned about quickswitching, falters and frag grenade use while doing all of this and now hes a very fun enemy? Flame thrower or ice bomb is for when you have low health? Fuck no! Flame 3 or 4 enemies, kill all and then spam the blood punch with the armor for blood upgrade! The more you think about how to master the game and use all the mechanics, the more fun it is.

My problem with the marauder is his visual cues. He runs around clearly not protecting himself, but can raise his shield in the time it takes a hitscan projectile to hit him. It's bizarre. It feels less like I'm fighting a skilled opponent, and more like I'm fighting an overconfident person with god mode who keeps turning it off.

@@henryfleischer404 The marauders real issue is the god awful tutorial. 1 simple trick will make him so much easier to fight: STAY FAR AWAY FROM HIM! He will then use his ranged attack once and then he will always go for a melee attack every time. This makes him so much easier and fun

@@Shieftain We don't mean the speed of the doom slayer, you have to manage your dashes, you have to manage your double jumps and be fast enough to dodge enemies attacks, look at the speed of the demons in 2016 vs eternal, and you will see how eternal is "Faster" and also, doom eternal, also it is generally a harder game, instead of on the ground fighting as in doom 2016, eternal is more of a 3d chessboard where you need to master to finally understand the madness. 2016 is more of a straightforward game, getting bored, while doom enteral you can replay over and over and fight differently and choose how you wanna rip and tear.

i am very late to this party it was real shame to see people disrespecting you by using the wrong pronouns, thats just a dick move and is not productive in any way but takes like this are just not it the marauder segment in particular was painful to watch the whole time i was just going "come on please just stop mindlessly firing at the shield and at least try to bait out the attack" followed by "no, dont use the autoshotgun, use the ssg and ballista they stun the marauder when theyre vulnerable" the worst part was when you outright said the ssg is the best weapon vs the marauder like you were so close to figuring it out, its like watching your child get addicted to crack again after kicking the habit the year prior

Let me begin by saying that the video is edited really well and your commentary is superb, glad you're still making videos, Connor. This is a bit of a long comment, just a heads up: This was an interesting watch as someone who feels Eternal much better than '16 and considers it up there with Ultimate Doom as a high point for the series. I feel the pistol in '16 was really cool (probably my favorite iteration of the weapon) but the chainsaw in both games were used in very similar manners: they both dispatch a single target and give you a handful of ammo. The Crucible and chainsaw, I would argue, have different roles for that reason; the Crucible is your "get out of fights" button, there's one use per demon (whether it's an imp or a Tyrant) versus the enemies using differing amounts of chainsaw fuel. They could be welded together, for sure, they don't necessarily need to be separate tools. The chainsaw becomes a downbeat in combat in Etnernal, with you whipping it out to bust a fodder demon in half to keep fighting for a little while longer, and I mostly just use the Crucible to bust down Tyrants in the late game. Totally forgot the ice bomb existed, though. The fragmented systems were actually one of the issues I had with Doom 2016 but not in Eternal: runes and suit upgrades were too similar in 2016 with things like better air control and pickup range being demonic in origin for some reason, whereas Eternal's upgrades felt more separate: runes affected your combat performance and the suit upgrades alter your weapon or suit performance. It felt more cohesive, though in both games there are just far too many tokens to swap around and exchange. I think if they shuffled around what's a rune and what's an upgrade in '16, I probably would have liked the systems more, they just felt like the same thing twice in that game whereas Eternal gives them unique identities. I think ultimately what it comes down to, Eternal is more akin to a fighting game than a regular FPS: the player has to get good at its combos to proceed through the game skillfully. The Marauder and the DLC are pretty prime examples of what I'm talking about; it seems clear that the intended way to defeat the Marauder is through a combination of the SSG and Ballista with rockets and grenades supplementing those weapons, with the player able to take him down during the Marauder's first counterattack if they can skillfully switch between their tools via the hotkeys while also circling around the big guy at the same time. The DLC is way harder than the base game and requires using your tools in much the same manner, prepping combo after combo and circling around the arena to keep enemies off of you. With that in mind, it makes the game way less gamepad-friendly and also possibly just more difficult for less experienced players to get into. I will say though that Eternal is exhausting. I meant to get all of the achievements in The Ancient Gods but beating it just once was just a whole lot of effort, so I stopped playing it halfway through the first level on my second playthrough. I still play a handful of levels from the base game time to time and am doing my third playthrough, this time on Nightmare, when I get the time, but it's just a whole lot of mental energy to get back into the Eternal headspace of quickly scanning the environment, using tools at the right time and place, and keeping distance between enemies and me and finding openings. Part of me wonders if I'd like Doom 2016 more if I went back to it after Eternal, but it's still my 3rd favorite Doom game after playing through those awful Earth levels in Doom II so I don't think a third playthrough of '16 would change much for me. While I disagree with your ultimate assessment and feel a number of these points can be stuck to 2016 without much alteration, I definitely feel your final point. The Ultimate Doom is my favorite *because* it does one thing, but does it so well, and I can understand how people can feel that about 2016. It's a very easy to understand game and getting into its rhythm isn't difficult, it's just really frickin' good. If Hugo Martin and his team are content with going down the more rhythm-ish hardcore route with Doom, hope it gets supplanted with some more lightweight classic-style games, too. With no disrespect, you're just playing the game incorrectly dude. Maybe watch some videos of what clean eternal gameplay looks like, there is a purpose for everything in this game. The game director is streaming gameplay every Thursday explaining how the game is supposed to be engaging. Many youtubers like Under the Mayo have made countless videos on these topics and shut down people that come up with these common issues (not enough ammo, Marauder too hard). Did you even try to do what the game is telling you to do before completely roasting it? Regarding mixing systems together, like chainsaw and crucible? Dude there is a story point behind the crucible, and it's your get out of jail free card like the chainsaw was in 2016. Is it that hard to press an extra button to access it? Or the weapon system.... can I please interject and say that LITERALLY everything apart from mastery tokens was in 2016. Weapon mods? Weapon points you get by completing combat? Argent cells (Crystals in eternal)? Runes? Praetor points? The LITERAL same system. This game has no rune mastery but it's added weapon mastery tokens, and sentinal batteries for unlocking more stuff. Not hard to keep track of if you can see with your eyes and count. Mixing them into the same system? Well 2016 didn't do that and you loved it aye? Also what is this stupid shit like "frozen and being on fire" complaint? That just sounds like a baby whinging. The game does not have to conform to that level of realism, it's a fucking sci-fi game anyway. Or bugs and glitches? Sure it has a few, but to say it is full of them? Compared to other games being released these days, its extremely polished and clean.

Literally everything that Doom Eternal Improved on this guy just shits on it. They add a good and interesting story and lore, Story bad , makes more than 2 weapons viable, *too complex*, adds platforming and open areas, *i prefer the braindead loop of walking forward and having 200 demons spawn out of the middle of nowhere*, adds complex boss fights, *rip and tear, no think*, includes many unique upgrades that don't require you to spend 20 hours searching for them or go through a youtube tutorial to find, *too many options, forage for berries*, emphasizes the use of glory kills and the chainsaw to keep you in the fight and rewarding riskier behavior instead of running away to find more ammo and health, *too much ammo, glory kill bad*, adds more abilities to always keep combat refreshing, *too complex* I can't think of a single thing i prefer about Doom 2016. It's too slow, both in progression, and combat in general, makes super shotgun basically all you need expect for rare occasions and it feels like a combat loop by the 3rd level

7:03 this literally makes no sense. The point of the chainsaw is primarily to be used against small fodder enemies specifically for ammo, the crucible gives no ammo and isn't mean to, it's meant for a panic button or to be saved for challenging enemies like arhcviles, cyberdemons, etc. The reason why you have to use the chainsaw for ammo is because it keeps you constantly engaged, it makes you switch weapons so you can't rely on one weapon, and are you telling me you'd rather just have a massive ammo pool and you just find ammo on the ground? The only complaint i would have about the chainsaw is the amount of animations and how they're not as gory as 2016.

This is not a DLC for Doom 2016. Its a new game. You openly demonstrated your refusal to learn and implement new strategies with the mechanics and this nullifies your entire argument. You don't like the level designs because they're larger and vastly more complex than Doom 2016. You don't like the UI because they used more menu space to add extra abilities. You complained about overlapping weapons because of the different ammo types for the chainsaw and sword, despite them having two completely different purposes. Your point about empowered enemies can be debunked with a single gameplay setting that was available on release. You didn't demonstrate any quality evidence to why these points are actually indicative of bad or inferior design compared to Doom 2016. You only proved that you intentionally played the game poorly and wrote a misinformed review about it.

I like the atmosphere of Doom 2026 but prefer the architectural designs and worlds of Doom Eternal my dream sequel would be these two combined. 2016 had a great atmosphere but a generic military base setting which lacked the personality of the original retro old is new 1980s artistic but of course made it for it by having an amazing atmosphere. Doom Eternal on the other hand had far more unique settings with their own styles of architecture from Gothic futuristic to H.R. Giger but with Angels lol

This game is about evolving 2016’s gameplay. What I liked about 2016 is it’s power trip fantasy. You are the ultimate badass. Eternal is about earning that “badassery”. Once I found out you can Super shotgun/remote detonate/gauss cannon(2016), my gameplay got predictable. I stopped using every other weapon. Eternal makes you find new uses, think about new strats and tries to make you a better FPS player. If you’re up to it. It’s not too different from a fighting game. You have to play this game with the right mindset. Otherwise, you’re gonna have an awful time.

My take on it is this. I had fun with Doom Eternal, it was a good video-game. I prefer 2016. I feel like Eternal was a big step down in terms of the gritty atmosphere as it felt much more cartoony. I was also not a fan of how the game forced me into the play style of always using and balancing the cool downs of all of the new jumpy get in demons faces ability’s (especially with the exact same animations over and over again). I also think the plot line going into the history of the doom slayers does a disservice to doom guy. He shouldn’t be an interesting character, he is much more fun as careless faceless anger with no clear background that every player just inhabits. Doom 2016 left me genuinely interested in Samuel Hayden and Olivia Pierce, but Doom Eternal put them in the background like NPC pawns. TLDR, put me in a gritty atmospheric pool of blood and gore with a giant machine gun mowing down countless waves of demon enemies, new mechanics are fun, don’t force me to always be using them.

I had to install 20 mods to fix - Rainbow poop, AI Downgrade in TAG1 and TAG2, Trash FX of pops, looney tunes stars, HUD color mods, Demon mods and Tutorial removal etc etc. Absolute downgraded mess Eternal vs 2016. MUH Combat lol, I finished both on Nightmare the 2016 feels like you are a god and in Eternal you are a monkey spamming 24.7 with RNG cancer. Its not get good, it's garbage period. I pirated both thankfully. Hugo has his head up his rear, I wonder how The Dark Ages will fk up the franchise further into more wannabe fantasy RPGsque BS from a Sci-Fi shooter.

How do the mechanics feel developed independent of each other when they’re heavily synergistic? Frozen enemies will drop health, and if if ignited, drop armor, which both in excess refill your blood punch, which then drops more health when used to keep the cycle going.

The chainsaw and crucible could absolutely have been combined together into one weapon, one key. @@Playboifartier i didn't ask for 10000 ammo i asked for it to not be near the end of the game and give a littel more charges. The arena fights can drag on forver sometimes a recharge system like the soul cube would uave been nice. Plus the last mission dose give you 10000 ammo.

Eternal is better than Doom 2016 in almost every way and I disagree with Connor completely. I wouldn't say that Doom 4 (Doom 2016, but I'm calling it 4 because it's fucking annoying to constantly call it "Doom 2016") is faster at all, the moment to moment combat isn't nearly as fast paced as Eternal's. I think you may be confusing "movement speed" and "speed of combat" with one another. "Speed of combat" is how often and how quickly you need to make decisions in combat, while "movement speed" is self explanatory. You may feel like Doom 4 is more fast paced because you may feel like the game's movement speed is higher (which is false tbh but for the sake of argument lets assume it's true), which is not all that determines the speed of combat. You are making MUCH more decisions in Doom Eternal and making them MUCH more frequently via dashes, monkey bars, meat hook, and a few others. Doom 4 only really has strafing and double jumping, both of which exist in Eternal as well. Doom 4's combat also grew stale around 2/3 of the way through because they ran out of tools to give you, while more times than not in Eternal when a new enemy shows up, they introduce a new weapon or option to counter the enemy. This is kept up for much longer throughout the game than Doom 4. Lastly, I don't think you're at all correct with saying Eternal has half baked ideas. And if Eternal truly DOES have half baked ones, Doom 4 has the same issue with less substance to distract from it. Doom Eternal is MUCH more fleshed out than 4, there's more movement options, more ways to deal with enemies, more viable weapon options other than Super Shotgun spam, and more varied enemy types that require different ways to deal with them. The experience is night and day with the two games. To quote DJ Peach Cobbler: Doom 4 is a mindless shooter, Doom Eternal is a mindFUL shooter. There's nothing wrong with wanting to turn your brain off, walk forward with the super shotgun and blow demons' brains out, but saying Eternal is WORSE than 2016 is not only false, but also asking for backlash. I have other things I disagreed with the video, but i don't want this comment to be any longer than it is. So to cap it off: it's fine that you liked Doom 4 more, but objectively Eternal is better in pretty much every way.

6:59 ok so basically the chainsaw functions very different than it did in 2016. In 2016 the weapon was a lot more like the modern crucible, like you said a get out of jail free card. But because of the direction ID went with ammo in this game, the chainsaw in Eternal is about getting ammo from fodder enemies (Imps, Soldiers, ect.) so the reduced charge is about getting you to focus your insta-kills on enemies that wont do any real damage to you. The crucible in Eternal functions the same as the chainsaw in 2016, but just because ID calls both weapons a chainsaw it doesn't mean that they both have the same purpose in combat. Also if this comment has terrible grammar I suck at English so thanks.

Just because you used the chainsaw to kill Heavies does not mean that was the intended use. Eternal’s chainsaw is used this way because they want you to use more weapons than the super shotgun, which if you’re good enough you could probably still manage.

The colorfulness is supposed to let the players know what to differentiate ammo, environments, and enemies. I still enjoy the dark colors and grittiness of 2016, and I enjoy the colorfulness of Eternal.

I've no doubt you've seen a ton of disagreement already, but I felt that, as good as 2016 was, it sort of got stale towards its end because the Super Shotgun went brrrr. It was my biggest gripe with 2016, really. All those weapons and options and you only really need one. Eternal's approach I felt ensured that no one weapon would be used to the exclusion of the others, and that helped a ton with keeping fights interesting until the end. I imagine it'd be overwhelming and messy for a fair number of people, though, given you're swapping weapons and using certain abilities and modifications and stuff all while avoiding the hordes of projectiles sent your way, so I can see the appeal in 2016 over Eternal for some.

Pretty sure the devs said it was the be all end all gun. They watched a clip of someone who doesn't play videogames stubbornly using the pistol instead of anything else. They saw this as a failure on their part. Regular players know to get engaged with the mechanics and try multiple routes. Not necessarily by game design, but because you know to for fun. Eternal forces that rather than lets things go your way. Play by its rules, or die die die again.

@the golden doomslayer Not really, if you attempt to use the super shotgun (or any for that matter) as your primary like Doom 2016 lets you do, you're going to find yourself lacking when faced with specific enemies. Every gun has its purpose, with a specific type of enemy that its best used against. The pistol never really had a purpose beyond being there when running out of ammo. So they removed it and made it at the chainsaw always has one unit of fuel to grab ammunition.

I’m honestly sorry you had a bad time with this game. Not everyone can like this game unfortunately, and I can respect that. Though if you want to have a better time with the game, I think you should look at it in a different way. I been playing the game for very long time, so maybe I can say a few things. With the things you mention in the video, I will try to put a different perspective, so prepare for a essay lol. Chainsaw and the lack of ammo is a big part of Eternal, and that is because they didn’t want you to be using one gun the entire time and not be punished by that. Chainsaw is basically your reload, and though I does get repetitive, It doesn’t take away the enjoyment for me. And it still serves as a get out of jail free card in some way. If you get stuck in a pinch, chainsaw so you don’t get killed. Now it doesn’t kill barons or tyrants, but that is what the crucible is for. That is your one hit k.o weapons you should use on those enemies. It replaces the function of the chainsaw in 2016 into a new and arguably better thing. And it shouldn’t be the same button because they both serve different purposes now. Chainsaw is now “ammo refill and breathing space” and the crucible is “get out of here demon” weapon. The grenades in Eternal serves a much greater purpose than putting them in The flying meatball mouths. They serve as a falter or stun system. When a demon gets hit by it, they stop what they are doing and is stunned. These few seconds of this goes in the loop of the combat. In 2016, point blank the mancubus and you done. Eternal, walk up to him without a plan and you now lost all of your armor. The grenade solves this and makes a safer and better way to kill them. Grenade, shoot their weak points, and blast them and dead. Speaking of weak points, you don’t need to go for them, it is very optional. It will be harder to do it without breaking them, but it’s there. It’s not “you need to break them”, but more “I want to break them”. I find myself using every mod in the sandbox, unlike in 2016. Over time, people found ways to use each of them, and all of them are situational. For the fire + ice bomb, that wasn’t necessarily half baked. In fact, you will get MORE armor if you freeze them. Now totally it doesn’t make sense art all but who cares, it’s fun The reason why the base melee tickles them is because they didn’t want you to depend on fisting your way out without a blood punch. It’s gives you more of a reason why you should do glory kills or stack up on armor and health for the extra blood punch, just in case you have yourself in a pinch. Ok so the tutorial and cutscenes can get pretty old once you played the game a million of times, but one of them is preventable. And side note, falling off doesn’t kill you instantly now if you have more than 20 health, so yay The reason why there is so many mechanics is because once you master them all, the combat loop can not be beat at all by 2016. If you go into the fun zone, things will be much more FUN. I understand that the many mechanics can confuse a first time player, but you will get the hang of it. Archville and buff totems is different in many ways and there is a reason for that. The buff totem is introduced in the 5th level, and it serves as a “hey, get me before you get jumped”. It’s a key target to look for. The totem only spawns fodder enemies, but not bigger ones. Meanwhile you can’t have the archville on the 5th level. He spawns any enemy, from doom hunters to marauders, and can teleport and stuff, so not as easy as the stationary object. Though by using the buff totem as a target to get rid of immediately, later on the archville serves as that. The target to get rid of immediately. You can turn off empowered demons if you have trouble with them Like in 2016, the story is there for the hardcore fans aka in the codex. There is a surprisingly a lot of lore in both games. And it’s there, but not in your face. You don’t have to get into it, but it is always there If you want too Like a comment I read before, you shouldn’t have all the upgrades as one currency. The hub area I can agree with you on that. Just the require path you need to go on multiple Playthroughs Ok even almost a year, the glitches are still abundant. Jesus just look at lighting breaks videos about it. No doubt about it that it kills the game I come from the future, and they will use the meathook as platforming. Even still, you can use the meathook to transverse throughout the game. You can do skips and just yeet yourself out of existence. Under the mayo did a video on that so I suggest checking it out Ok now for the big boy marauder. Yes, he is suppose to be hard and challenging because he is your equal. I get it, going through blind makes him a hard enemy, but if you research on ways to kill him, it will be easier. He is your equal, and a chess piece that requires your attention. And it is your job to kill everyone one else before him so it can be easier. Now it isn’t always one on one, but it makes the encounter way more interesting (also beware of two, buffed, and spirited versions of them in the DLC) And finally to cut this off, Doom 2016 being a mindless shooter. And I will admit, 2016 was a mindless shooter. And I’m sorry but 2016 is more mindless than eternal, and that is by design. Going in, ID wanted Eternal to be more mindful, with the inclusion of the fun zone. Eternal isn’t something you can go eyes close in, unlike in 2016. It’s more skill base, and more complicated. If you look at the pros of the doom eternal community (btw, the community is awesome and helps many get into the game), it’s mesmerizing and addicting to watch. 1:58 I understood not liking glory kills after see the same animations over and over but that's just a nitpick because they could have made thousands of animations but that would take too long and delay getting the product out. Second the glory kill mechanic is to regain lost health, if you don’t use the mechanic, especially on higher difficulties, it would increase the difficulty astronomically. Or maybe you're just the best Doom player ever and never get damaged. Idk BTW The pistol is hardly useful outside the first mission of 2016, it would be better to piss yourself than shoot the little ball of plasma at the baron 2:32 Uh I think you just contradicted yourself? Reviews like this make me realize the dangers of skipping tutorial segments. You clearly never actually read them because if you had, you would've realized at some point or another that many of your complaints stem from a misunderstanding of the core mechanics. You keep running out of ammo because you're supposed to swap weapons quickly. The chainsaw is better than the infinite ammo pistol because the pistol was genuinely unfun to use. Eternal is not slower 2016 not even you're own gamplay reflects that. Eternal was more focused you just didn't like where that focus was put.

I'd argue that even that point is not valid. Seeing how you get the chainsaw in literally the first level of the game, and it recharges one pip over time, it makes the pistol useless, and it's the whole reason why they scrapped it. After you get a shotgun, the pistol becomes useless. Same goes for DOOM 2016, II and the original one. You don't use the pistol after getting the shotgun unless you hate yourself (this is a hyperbole, I don't mean it literally).

11:10 aight, this is bullshit. I have almost 500 hours on this game and bugs are VERY rare. The only prominent ones are the blood punch hit reg and the chainsaw "no target" which are being fixed and weren't a huge problem in the first place, and waiting a second or two fixes them. The other bugs are rare and almost never game breaking. I've only fallen through the floor or gone through a wall maybe three times during my 500 hours.

20 paragraph andy here. i'll address this point by point. - flame belch and ice bomb: i think the idea of flame belch melting frozen enemies is cool other than being a headache to animate, but your criticism that these tools don't interact with each other is misguided. for starters, ice bomb does interact with flame belch by letting you set enemies on fire that you couldn't normally get that close to (mancubus for example). ice bomb interacts with many other mechanics as well such as letting you get close to blood punch (main strat for cybermanc), letting you get an easy hit on weakpoints (going around pinkies), and just letting you shoot things. Flame belch interacts with frag grenades to get loads of armor on groups, chainsaw to have invincibility while you deal the damage for armor, and your arsenal of weapons to deal damage quickly. your point about the mechanics not interacting with each other just doesn't stand. - blood punch: yeah, i'd prefer having a stronger base punch since doomguy is supposed to be the "rip and tear" man. dashing into enemies actually deals damage and knocks them back, but it would make more sense for the punch to do that. other tools like heat blast or just regular super shotgun do the same thing as blood punch, so idk if its inclusion is necessary. - tutorials and cutscenes: i think the cutscenes showing you where to go are dumb. sometimes they're helpful, but other times they waste your time by showing you something you're already looking at. the tutorials don't bother me, but i would prefer if the game were easier to figure out on your own, and advice could still be given in loading screens when you die. - buff totems and archviles: yeah, buff totems are more of a nuisance because their places aren't randomized, so you just go straight to them after your first time in the fight. the archvile in eternal also loses the spirit of the archvile from doom 2. - empowered demons: they can be turned off, so they aren't a problem, but they're also no longer demons from other campaigns, so they have no point to exist. - doom guy hype train: the "doomguy is god please step on me" shit did get kinda annoying. - upgrades and currencies: the currencies are basically all the same from 2016, so your complaint really doesn't help your main thesis. some upgrades could definitely be cut or put into your base kit, so you spend less time in menus, but the different currencies only make choosing upgrades simpler. - fortress of doom: the fortress of doom is cool, but navigating it could be made easier and faster. - bugs: as a battlemode player and someone whose favorite game is hollow knight, i have quite some experience with bugs. it's not as bad in campaign, especially compared with other AAA titles; it's about as many as you'd expect at launch, and the devs are working to fix them. it's just taking a long time because they have other priorities, and they're working from home. it's actually pretty easy to get a hold of hugo and other devs to inform them of bugs. - marauder: i like the marauder because he's cool, and he can feel like a dance. however, the game never tells you you're supposed to bait his axe throw and then he'll run up for you to parry him. his AI also fucks up, so he can just run up and shotgun you. that's kind of a big deal when it's unavoidable, mega damage, and knock-back. some of your points are literally false though, and i don't have the energy to list them - meathook: yeah, meathook should be included in platforming. also, you have to be on speed to think meathook isn't an amazingly useful combat tool and one of the coolest new features. - 2016 is faster: literally no. tutorials take like a few seconds, and otherwise, eternal is a significantly faster game. - weak points: i think eternal could have made weak points more obvious, especially since they now have the destructible demons system. - eternal = 2016 + unnecessary shit: eternal has more mechanics than 2016, yet more of them feel important because of an aspect that you never mentioned. the weapon balance is significantly better in eternal. in 2016, the ssg and gauss cannon blow through most of the game, making many other tools obsolete. in eternal, there are still some weapons and weapon mods that are suboptimal, and four weapons dominate the game in higher level play. still, despite having more stuff, eternal (in my opinion) has less useless mechanics.

Personally, I find Eternal just too complicated for me to really get into. It has too many mechanics to keep track of at any given time like you said, and that just overwhelms me. It's not fun for me to constantly jump from enemy to enemy to glory kill them, just got get what feels like 2 bullets to use on the next enemy and so on. 2016 was bland, but at least a bit more relaxed, more focused.

I would have thought you d find it similar to the vaccinator medic gameplay tbh, which i personally find more stressful. I also initially found glory kills incredibly dull but after you get the rune to make them faster and the one that gives you speed after doing one, it becomes incredibly fun a speed boost!!!. Also dont worry about fodder unless you need ammo/health/armor, focus the big guys first, killing fodder is boring bgl, none of your weapons feel satisying against them

If you need ammo then use the chainsaw, it really isn't that hard to understand. If you run dry on ammo before the first pip is restored then you're doing something wrong. Doom is meant to get your blood pumping, not be a relaxing stroll through the hellscape.

Out of Curiousity, what is wrong with the in Universe characters making the Doom Slayer out to be this Deific figure? It is kinda justified seeing as he not only Soloed Hell, but has some other batshit feats that kinda solidifies that sort of reaction.
