I admire Reubens strength and that he got the help he needed.

Thanks so much for this Reuben…I spent near on 14 hours across 4 interviews with police back in June…never felt less of a chance for anything in my whole life…2% successful prosecution outcome for men…to me means 98 out of 100 of every one of us who come forward won’t make it to where you got. Gives me hope- thanks. 😊

Thanks for your words and courage. Although I was assaulted (15 yrs ago) and held down by 2 guys, one my roommate then. They threw me down and held down with one straddling my chest. I thought it was just horseplay until the one straddling me pulled his pierced member out of his pants and proceeded to hit me across the face causing lacerations and bleeding and later bruising. The roommate held me down and watched and laughed. He said man Up this is gay culture.. I yelled stop and no but it continued until I somehow wrangled my way loose and left for my 2nd job. I didn't turn no one in since I wasn't penetrated but felt shame and betrayal. An older roommate forced the 2 to apologize although it wasn't sincere and not long after l moved out and out of state. Anyway I moved on but didn't forget.

Amazing. This guy can talk about a sexual assault and make it sound boring. Here is a suggestion: To avoid being assaulted in the future, just talk to your assailant. That will bore him so much that he will leave you alone.

Hey John Smith, that's for taking the time to watch the video. Perhaps I can help you understand why your comments are not helpful to other victims who read this. If you'd ever like to understand the effects of sexual assault and what thousands of people grapple with in silence then I'd be willing to have a conversation.

John Smith, that's absolutely absurd bro.

Things can happen when you get blind drunk. I understand feeling violated of course. Not sure I understand about the trauma though. Is it the feeling that you are now less than you were before ? Were you physically damaged in some way ? I know Ausie men have this big macho thing going. Perhaps that is a part of it ?

Being violated against your will without consent is not something that should be acceptable when you're drunk, would you agree? If you wake up in a different spot to where you went to sleep because a predator moved you to their bed and then you wake up to them touching you (as was my case), should you just go home and think "uh that was a bit weird but I guess that's just part of a night out?" It's never ok. Thank you for taking the time to ask important questions and to try and understand the issue further. I think societal attitudes can enhance a traumatic experience, but for me the trauma comes from the event itself. It's just an awful thing to have pop into your head at random times that affects how you're feeling and can quickly diminish your confidence. That's just the start of it. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video, I appreciate you looking to understand victims more. There's more information about survivors' experiences at: instagram.com/reclaimmepod/?hl=en

it happened to me about a decade ago. i repress the memories the best i can and it definitely helps to stay busy. i had no idea it was coming. i was in my late 50s at the time and never once did i even consider i would ever be a victim of rape. it was so confusing. kudos for going to the authorities. i was so blown away from it all i wanted to do was get home and have a long hot bath. i didn't realize until later that i should have reported it. if i could have done it over, i would have reported it immediately because i don't wish sexual assault on my worst enemy including my attacker. probably my biggest regret in life.

Sorry but the way they talk about this event they make it sound like it was a terrible rape, God forbid. Sexual assault can literally be an inappropriate touch. Plus this guy was a full grown person, which trauma and "being able to live a life after all" he is exactly talking about? Im just not imagining someone being able to heavily sexually attack this guy, plus it was a colleague. Sure whatever it was it was unpleasant but putting it like this makes it sound like sad fishing...if he already decided to talk about the trauma he should have given more details so the actual victims and suvivors who were defensless when experiencing an assault could relate and feel encouraged

Thanks for taking the time to watch the video, David. Sexual assault exists in many different forms and the purpose of sharing was to increase people's understanding of what it looks like and the implications for victims. If more people understand this then more people can acknowledge what happened to them was not on, more friends of victims can understand what support looks like, and more justice can be brought to perpetrators. If nobody talks about sexual assault, then perpetrators will continue to believe they can get away with it, victims will continue to repress their trauma, and society will silently enable these horrendous acts. The details of the assault can be found in the link to The Age article in the description. If you'd ever like to understand what it's like to be on the receiving end of sexual assault, I'd be happy to have a conversation with you, then you can make an informed decision on whether my feelings are warranted or sad-fishing.

Were you financially compensated for your loses? What were your financial loses? Missed a pay check? Did you obtain a venereal disease, did you get pregnant? I don’t understand why you took him to court? Why seek justice? The trauma of doing so doesn’t seem to be worth it. Why did he sexually rape you? Drunk? 😮It appears to be a one time incident. Just report the assault to the police and not make this vendetta would be of better merit.
@laurencebrooks7699 Жыл бұрын
Wrong...I dont blame him for seeking justice...we have to stop sexual assault and it happens to men too!

I reported the incident immediately. Details are in the newspaper article linked in the description. I don't have a vendetta, I pursued this because I want victims to be believed and perpetrators to stop getting away with horrendous acts.
@stephenbakos3303 Жыл бұрын
Why personally personally pursue a sexual incident? Why not just report the rape to the police? Your trauma is trivia. You add problems to your life needlessly. Your happiness is your sexual molesters loss. Jesus said we are to turn the other cheek. This is best left to the police to investigate. You lack principal to sue and you have very little character.
