Please come to San Jose the barracuda need you. They need a vet goalie. They signed Aaron Dell for no reason at all and he was immediately sent to the ECHL. You can show Romanov and askarov what a young vet can be. And soon Blackwood or vanecek will be traded and askarov will be sent to the sharks leaving a spot for you. Highly doubt they’d put Dell in over you

Many great goaltenders have come through the AHL Providence Tim Thomas, Rask, Binnnington, Swayman and Bussi will be a great teammate for you. If you do get to the ECHL it’s not like it used to be as many NHL goalies have played essentially AA hockey Lindgren (Wash) had come through the league and played so well in Springfield and now moved pretty well up the ranks in Washington.

Kas, without judging you, are you sure this is the best way to try to find a job? Waiting for months to get a possible chance in North America, instead of signing in Europe in early offseason? In May you can get a starting job in FI, GE, SE, CZ leagues. Those are very competitive leagues. If you do well, you can increase your chances in NHL or AHL for coming season. For the second consecutive season you are still without a club entering November. I know your priority, but I guess that's not the best choice even from economical side, you are getting paid for 4 months instead of 7-8. Once again, not judging you, just thinking about your situation. I wish you all the best!

I know you’ll get your big break. Keep your head down and keep grinding. You’re an elite goalie in the world of hockey. Not many people can say they get invited to a PTO for an NHL team (an original 6 team at that). Or say that they were drafted (by another original 6) and or had an NHL contract. You’re competing against the best of the best and unfortunately timing or people can just be plain wrong. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

What’s your pay like in the AHL? It has to brutal moving from town to town especially with kids. But shit.. I work in a major trauma hospital and the highest guy makes 800k a year. It puts it into perspective how much athletes make. More than doctors and pretty much everyone. Yeah it’s nothing compared to soccer or the other big 3 sports in America, but it’s a very very very good living. You must be at the point of not even having to worry about money even in the minors. Wish my parents paid the money to be on better teams in hockey lol. I had some potential, maybe not NHL, but played with some guys that are in the show like Alex tuch outta Syracuse. My parents wouldn’t dish out 3 grand for me to play for the Syracuse stars now the nationals though. It is what it is and it ain’t what it aint

On a side not I joined the Army at 18 (11B Infantry), played pickup games and my conditioning was amazing. I was asked if I wanted to play for some minor league team up in Maine just for fighting and grinding purposes but turned it down because I knew it wouldn’t really do anything for me

Most players don't make a lot of money in the AHL. When players sign two-way NHL-AHL contracts, the AHL part of it is usually a little less than $100,000. And that's for a two-way contract. If someone is signed to just an AHL contract, the money would probably be less than that. The minimum salary in the AHL this season is $52,725.

If you have a two-way contract, the NHL team is expecting that, at some point during the length of the contract, you will be playing in the NHL. Why would they pay a player more to just play in the AHL than someone they expect to be playing in the NHL?

@@montrealsports29 because a two way deal is most of the time for young goalies that have ambitions to play nhl. They play in the ahl for development, not for money. Regular ahl contracts are for older players, with little to none nhl ambitions. So they are playing for money, not development. Literally every good european league is paying more than 100k. So the Ahl would have no veterans if they would pay less than that.
