I gave away my paid off 2017 Tacoma to my son so he could take it to college, so I needed something to replace it. Doing a ton of research and instead of buying a pre 2024 Taco for an inflated price I decided to test drive something of similar price of my 2017 Taco... which was a 2023 Nissan Frontier. Turns out I liked it just as much as my Taco, and I was skeptical at first but I honestly think if you're a 3rd gen Tacoma enthusiast (like me), you'd probably find a similar satisfaction or appreciation for the Frontier. The similarities are that close (minus the badge of course).

My buddy recently went to his local Toyota dealer in Colorado, he was dead set on getting a new TRD pro. He had a chat with the finance guy, his credit is good and they said they could most likely get him a loan between 5-7% for 7 years. Once he realized he’d be paying over 86k for the truck, he quickly reassessed his situation

Love Toyotas I have a 2023 I got a good price on it because the 2024s were coming out. I’ve already had a torque converter replaced at 10,000 miles seems to be OK now let’s hope it continues. But I would never pay the prices of the new Tacoma and I have no desire to have a Ford banger with a turbo in the truck. So I’m in complete agreement. But I also think that maybe Toyota and other foreign car makers are pricing their cars hire to try to make up for the losses during the Covid year or should I say years. I really think that’s why everything is priced so highly.

I plan on keeping my 4Runner for a long time. Especially now with vehicle prices so high. I don't care for the Tacoma now. Looks wise it just doesn't do anything for me. Looks are subjective though. I do think Toyota missed the mark on pricing. They knew where Nissan and GM were at because they came out first. Ford followed suit but Toyota for some reason went way higher when comparing similarly equipped trucks. When midsize trucks are already expensive an extra 4-5k is a lot to ask from your consumers.

Financing and leasing are two avenues that have kept the automobile industry, and the employees who work for them, afloat and thriving for decades. It’s no different than how it would be nearly impossible for most to buy a home if mortgages didn’t exist. It’s nothing new. Same goes with government spending, we’ve been building and outspending everyone in the world on our military through credit, not what’s in the bank... Yes, too expensive for a midsize. Trdpro seats should be an option. Also wish they would offer crew max models. The excuse toyota had for keeping the truck same length as previous model should be up to the consumer. If it can't fit in a garage then so be it. I'm pretty sure most tacoma owners don't park in a garage. So ya give us more trim and model packages. Crew max 6 foot bed, or whatever. I had a 3rd gen, then upgraded to a 3rd gen tundra. Love my full size. Now, I would rather get a landcruiser or 4runner over a new tacoma because of the space you get. I offroad and overland in my tundra. I test drove a 4th gen tacoma and yes, much improved all around. For me, the 4banger turbo is a must for living in Colorado cause of high altitude and especially going up to the rocky mountains. The v6 tacoma motor is horrible. Anyways thanks for your input, but I think most of us can all agree new tacomas are too expensive. That's why most don't like it. Take care out there

I don’t dislike it’s looks, the new Tacoma, it’s honestly 2 things: Engine- v6, v8 are better suited for midsize trucks. Price, way to costly and too much techy aids They should have kept the v6, added front lockers, and not put a flat screen TV glued to the dash I paid 31k for my SR5 4x4 and put about 10-12k in upgrades making it a TRD offroad but better

I agree with you 100% and I have another thought that I keep wondering about. Even without the price hike, people have been unhappy about the reduction of cylinders and, as you said in this video, not wanting a turbo. So what I’m wondering about is, does this make our v6 3rd gen’s increase is value/decrease in depreciation? I’ve had this hunch that it would mean this. So I’ve gone to driving my trusty 2010 Honda civic and leaving my 22pro taco parked as much as I can, trying to keep miles low. I have seen first quarter sales reports where the new 4th gen 24’s are absolutely tanking. And when I took my 22 in to the dealer for its 5th & final Toyota care at 25k miles, the sales guys came to talk to me, offering for me to test drive a new tundra, and pressuring me for my loan and credit rating information. Also my son has a 21 sport like yours. He is getting cold calls from the dealer he purchased new from. Both he and I are still making payments. He’ll be done sometime before the end of 2025. Me, I’ll be done beginning of 2027. So I’m just wondering if If depreciation will decrease enough where I can sell my 22pro closer to sticker price and then wait for Toyota to compensate by bringing back the V6’s eventually. Or maybe an fj type of ride, or even a Toyota offroad camper type. Just wondering and kind of hoping.

Back in 2000 the Tacoma was the cheapest thing on Toyota's lot at $9,500... cheaper than a Corolla at $12k. Trucks back then were for the Poors and for contractors. They're now man-purses for emasculated cubicle-rated debt-slaves... hence the high price. Louis Vuitton purses for men now... but like you said, if people pay it then the price will be what it is... With thay said all truck manufacturers are milking this whole pretend-truck image thing to the limit...

@jimf.6256 ай бұрын
Spot on. Toyota is no different than any other manufacturer who wants to sell vehicles in this country. They have to in order to stay in business. I’m speaking to the move toward smaller turbo and hybrid powertrains. This is due to the government and their green initiatives. It’s no longer what the consumer wants to own, it’s what the government wants you to own. Toyota is making changes to please the government, not the consumer. Like you said they have debt too. It’s not cheap designing and producing a complete new vehicle tip to tail, top to bottom and will pass that cost on to the consumer who like you say will go into serious debt to buy one because our system is designed to keep people in debt. Don’t forget what Klaus Schwab said, “you will own nothing and be happy.” That means your housing, your transportation, your finances etc. The issue with the new Tacoma has a lot of layers to it. It’s a part of a larger issue.

Listen I don’t really care on branding I’m pretty much an atheist on brands, because I buy used and generally Japanese because they’re better quality I don’t buy new it’s not a good investment. Two of the things that keep people from any amount of wealth most often is buying new vehicles constantly and divorce. However that being said the new Tacoma is not your Tacoma just look at the difference in the crash safety rating so they come out just like what happened in the tundra it went from the worst to the best yeah major engine issues but if I had a loved one in a pick up truck right now I wanted to be a tundra crash ratings are awesome. Massive changes in technology in a far better frame so it’s not the same truck it’s kind of humorous when people say same truck it’s just the same name everything is changed. Now that also being said I commend you for being a smart KZbinr because your alogarithms will go up well with negative news and negative news draws 10 times of flies that good news does. The overall platform is significantly cheaper than the previous gen but with a higher price and the uncertainty of the 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Now if your a fanboy/girl and HAVE to have the newest and the most recent Tacoma and love the thought of the 4th gen “disposable/throwaway” concept, go for it!! I’ll pass since I drove and inspected a trd off road premium package Tacoma and found that it was a hurried, throw out to the consumer designed platform with absolutely no care for long-term reliability for the buyer.😳

excessive borrowing can't last. there's a natural amount of debt that people, and financing companies, can take on before the floor falls out beneath them. that is an ironclad rule of economics and math, and with rates as "high" as they are now (historically normal), it's even worse. car repos are going to keep spiking and something is going to give.
