I was wrong about the decked system I put in my Toyota Tacoma. I thought this was the best bed setup you could get but, some times less is more. I don't hate the decked system at all. I just don't use it enough to make the headache worth it.

Have gone a similar route with my build. It’s my daily driver and as I’m in sales I put a lot of miles on my truck. I went the simple route. Have a Leer camper shell, 50L fridge on a slide in the bed that runs off a ecoflow power bank, and is all recharged by single 150w solar panel on the roof, and bought a topper tent that encloses the rear when the tailgate is down and the hatch is open. Be nicer if I had a 6 ft bed but with the tailgate down I essentially have a 6’+ bed and at 5’10” it works great. Very low key non-overlander looking but plenty of space to do normal husband/dad/homeowner stuff. Never been a fan of RTT’s and having a huge amount of money tied up in something for occasional or weekend use. Love the channel, keep it up.

Watching your channel grow from the begining and seeing all you have accomplished has been an amazing journey. I honestly think it is time for a trailer for camping/living out of. It would fix all of your issues. Multiple times i have heard you say that if you have to go get anything you have to close up camp and lose your spot. Dropping the trailer would solve most, if not all of your issues and free up the truck for off road adventuring. I wouldn't get one pre-built, i would just get an enclosed trailer and build something ridiculous out of it and take all of us along with the build.

If you want something fun, buy an enclosed trailer (5x8-10) and build a little camper out of it. There’s some content ideas for ya.

That would be pretty awesome. Maybe go all out and build the whole thing from scratch lol

@@ModernDayViking Plus climbing up to your truck to sleep sucks, and being able to drop your “house” off and drive somewhere is so amazing. No more packing up to merely leave the campsite.

Buy a small utility trailer, about the same capacity as a long bed on a full size pickup truck. This is how I make my Tacoma work.

I love my decked on my Tacoma. I have my recovery gear and air up tools on the small drawer and my camping/kitchen items I. The big drawer. I also have a low RCI bedrack with 2 roam 95L boxes. It’s been a killer set up. I love it

I totally hear you on this. I originally had a BakFlip rollup tonneau cover on my TRD, which was great and pretty secure (metal tonneau). It also allowed me to store a ton of gear under the BakFlip tonneau. I then added the Decked drawers and a low-height rack to mount a Tepui rooftop tent so the top was flsh with the cab height This combo allowed me to still get into the garage with the tent installed , but mainly I still needed to carry my kayaks on the Yakima roof racks over the cab. However, in reality, we only used the RTT about 12-15 nights over 2 years.and I was constantly frustrated by the limitation of the storage capacity of the Decked drawers, specially having the short-bed (5') on my TRD. My wife convinced me to sell the rack and RTT and to order a camper shell (A.R.E.). We may eventually add a low rack to the camper shell and a clamshell RTT but this stuff all cost big bucks as you know. I'm interested to see what your next solution is. Good video, thanks!

Hello great video. Have you thought about doing a flat bed and putting a canopy box on it. They are from Australia and you can setup it anyway you want to or get one built yourself and save money that way. Or what do you think about building a 5'x8' trailer camper where you can do a queen bed and a kitchen out of the back of it. Y'all can sleep in it and go off road while it's parked and don't have to put the tent down to go anywhere.

Cool video and just subbed. I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma ACLB TRD OR and my plan is to either put a Diamondback tonneau (love the Access Cab Long Bed side profile) or a topper on it with a bed rug (that way it’s extra water sealed). I am planning on getting some Volk TE37T’s in 0 offset so I can run 255/85R16 pizza cutters with no lift or cutting. I am planning on adding Victory 4x4 aluminum or Backwoods Adventure Mods front bumper, Cali Raised sliders ad aluminum skids from someone. For rear bumper I’m looking at Outgear Solutions HC Sandstorm.

For Caps you have only a few options that can carry weight. RSI Smart Cap is nice but expensive and quite heavy since its steel, Alucab Contour or Explorer very well made one piece aluminum and light, RLD Cap. A.R.E makes a fiber glass cap that is reinforced called the HD which can take weight you can get it paint matched to your truck. OVS expedition, Or if you're really trying to go budget find one of those Alibaba tactical caps that are steel, similar to what BYNB made and got sued by RSI for. Hope that helps.

The fact that your needs have changed and you no longer need a pseudo truck converted to an SUV and you want to use it as a truck now is not a reflection of the Decked system itself. It’s a reflection that a drawer system makes sense for about 2% of truck owners.

Your manual speed taco it's better than 4gen manual speed? What do you think? Have a test drive of 4gen manual transmission? I'm curious 😊
