I keep seeing people saying you can't get the 24 Taco for msrp so here's a dealer that marks thousands off msrp and is really easy to deal with. Yeah the world was much different back then. Basically everything was cheaper due to a multitude of factors with the simplicity of vehicles being a big one. The FJ is basically just some seats bolted to a frame with a cool body. Making a car is just more expensive nowadays.
@colbymag2053Ай бұрын
@@HomesteadReliance yeah $40k adjusted for something with the options of a Wrangler l, except you didn’t get a solid front axle 🙃 the new Toyotas have SO much more (heated/vented seats, 360 trail cams, integrated trailer controller, power seats, power tailgate, power plugs in the bed, dual climate control) including significant power and torque bumps. These are not the same product. Not even the same class anymore.

@@colbymag2053 yeah exactly. Not to say the old trucks aren’t awesome. Love a good FJ and that generation in general is just so simple they’re dumb easy to keep on the road for decades. @rtclark4068Ай бұрын
The type of people who say it's overpriced are happy buying older used trucks and won't buy a new one even if Toyota still made the same second generation taco. The 2024 tacoma, however, is exactly what the new car buyer type of person wants. There is nothing wrong with either of these things. The market for new trucks changes. Oh well, there are plenty of old used trucks out there for you guys! Lets all just admire they offer this thing in a manual still, wow!

Inflation would make sense if ALL of the equivalent mid-sized trucks were $65k like the TRD Pro or Trailhunter. But they arn't. When you can get the TRD OR up to the same price as a Ranger Raptor, there is something wrong.
@RileyMonthuleАй бұрын
A ranger raptor is going to be at least 10k more than my truck. I mean the Tacoma has always been more expensive than the competition because Toyota backs their product better than anyone and the trucks last longer than anyone else's. Honestly now besides for the highest end trims the Taco makes more sense than ever. Better features, interior and build quality tha any of the competition and will more than likely last much longer. Do have to say if I was buying the highest end trim I'd probably take the raptor over the pro. Really think the pro should've gotten the twin turbo v6 from the tundra.

@@RileyMonthule maybe your specific truck was 10k less but I just built a TRD OR on Toyota’s website that was $54k and didn’t even have the hybrid powertrain. Again, better powertrain, better suspension, 4Auto tcase, lockers etc that all rival the TRD Pro but for TRD OR money. Sorry, but their pricing sucks. And I don’t need convincing about turbo motors. I'm way older than you, and agree with most of what you said. I shopped for a 3rd gen Tacoma, and drove one, and despite how popular they are, I wasn't crazy about it. I didn't fit well in it, and it felt sluggish even on flat roads. The 4th gen feels peppy, and I fit really well. Then there's the technology upgrades - I'm a huge fan vs stuff that was designed 8 years ago for the previous gen. I'm cautiously optimistic that it will stand up to the test of time, being the first model year and all. Yes, it's a ton of money - but as you explained, it's only a little ahead of inflation, and it's been modernized, so of course it costs more. For me the choice was clear. I also got the TRD Off-Road, but with the "TRD Upgrade Package" vs the "TRD Premium", so I don't have all the cameras, and a few other things, but it is still pretty great. BTW, can you share a link to the info you found about the new engine?

The 300,000 miles longevity of Toyota reputations is uncertain with new turbo engines. Look at the Tundra recalls? The TRD off road comes bare, you have to pay extra for simple things such as electronic seat adjustments, so it is in the 50s after the necessary packages and 55-59 K for a hybrid. There is a reason the dealers are giving discounts and zero percent interest rate on the SR5 and TRD off orads, they cannot sell them at regular prices. They are over priced for sure. Of course those are good trucks, but you dont get the same value as before. A Chevy Colorado ZR2 with 33 inch wheels, multimatic dampers, rock sliders, 8 speed transmission, disk brakes, skid plates, essentially the same features as the TRD pro for 50K and you can select options you may want or not. The Bison Package is better for off-roading, with the most underbody protection, biggest tires 35inch, and highest ground clearance starts at 60s.

You're talking about the top models, so let's compare: Since when does a loaded VW Golf push $50k? Since when does a loaded Bronco sport push $50k? Why does Jeep charge upwards of $80-100k for Wranglers (yes, even the V6 and turbo-4 models get well into the 70s and 80s when loaded)? These arguments are nil when the rest of the market is following suit. Is the TRD Pro too rich for my (and most everyone else's) blood? Yes. At that price point I would be looking at F150 Raptors or Tremors, not Ranger Raptors. The 3.5EB has been a proven engine for over a decade. The 3.0 in the RR is still new kid on the block. Newer than Toyotas 2.4T (been used in Lexus for years). The interior amenities and build quality blows the RR out of the water, and has a more reputable engine and brand backing it. Moreover, The 2023 model year Tacomas, similarly trimmed (not equipped bc they were sparse in the 3rd gens) were still pushing close to $50k for a sluggish engine, uncomfortable and lacking interior, and leaf springs. The TRD models with the premium package (non-hybrids) blow previous gens out of the water in value and performance for only $4k more than the 3rd gen TRD Pro. The only thing legacy models have going for them is reliability in these comparisons. If that's the only thing you care about, then stop paying attention for 5 years and check back on these new platforms then. Edit: also, you're lying. I bought my 4th gen at MSRP for a truck just like Riley's. There are plenty of examples out there of people buying at or below MSRP. You are just spewing bs.
