SLC's new airport is quite nice. The biggest complaint around is the one you brought up, the walking distance. My poor mother was at the far end of concourse B and had to huff about 20 mins to get outta there when she visited. So I suspect it can be rough for the elderly and disabled.

My husband & I traveled to Morocco and we were not happy with Delta either! We however had Delta Comfort+. However those seats were far from comforting. The ONLY thing that was any better than the cheaper seats was there was more leg room. However we paid $1,800 each for those Comfort + seats! Definitely not worth it.

I flew JFK to Edinburgh and back on Delta One at Christmas. I had wonderful cabin crews. The food was good.I had the fish on the way over and breakfast was bread pudding french toast. On the way back, braised beef short ribs and then an English afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was only okay, but still better than most airplane food. I have never been able to sleep on long haul flights. These were exceptions. I slept well and arrived at both places well rested, not sore and stressed like other flights.

We’ve flown Delta to Europe twice this past summer. Our experience was very different from this. Spotlessly clean seat area, gate-to-gate entertainment available, and ok food. Airline food is never particularly good, sometimes hideous…United, American, Air Canada. Service was very good, what I would expect for Delta One. We also flew premium economy a couple of times, which was surprisingly roomy and comfortable. We fly Delta as our number one choice and try to avoid United at all costs.

My first time flying into the new Salt Lake airport we were at the farthest B-gate and it seemed to take forever to get to the baggage claim. Of course, it didn't matter as American took almost an hour to unload our luggage off a CRJ700. Do love the new airport overall, a major improvement over the old one which I have flown in and out of many times.

Excellent video Paul! The new SLC Airport seems amazing even though I’ve never visited the old SLC Airport before the new one definitely looks like it’s headed the right direction in terms of new US Airports and yes, Jeb’s video at SLC is definitely worth the watch as it was fabulous! I wish Delta would give my home airport of Detroit (DTW) would get a MASSIVE overhaul at least the older Delta Airlines terminal as the other newer terminal at DTW puts the old DL terminal to shame and it’s a real disappointment. Also no transit train at SLC seems like a bit of a shortfall! 😂🎉 I can’t wait to visit when SLC is completely finished but the Delta Sky Clubs in SLC also look STUNNING and WAY BETTER than the older Sky Clubs like at DTW from what I’ve seen. Finally the seat on the Delta A330-900neo looks pretty fabulous in Delta One for sure but I still don’t think the suite needs a door and hopefully DL improved their food offerings very soon as I’ve usually heard Delta food is pretty good especially in Delta One so this was SHOCKING 😮 to me! Also I cannot wait to fly the Delta Long Haul International Business Class Delta One very soon! Finally at 5:36 I get “equipment envy” quite often and I didn’t realize it was a real thing and at 5:59 the Delta A330-900neo also flies out of their Detroit hub sometimes headed to places like DTW-CDG 🇫🇷 😊 Cheers 🥂 Mate! Great job especially the jazzy music at 9:26 onwards 🎵 on that A330-900neo you chose for so very well! 😂🎉 Finally no gate to gate entertainment on Delta is a big disappointment at least in my opinion as lots of airlines like you mentioned have this, even the regional airlines fleet with United Express on their Embraer 175 fleet has gate to gate entertainment so that’s a HUGE LETDOWN! 😢

Turbulence out of SLC is normal - you are starting amongst mountains and climbing out to the east you go over higher mountains still - try the SLC- Denver route to find out what that's like! Add to that, the airspace east of Denver often gets pretty bumpy, too - perhaps due to the high plateau?

Thanks for posting this review! I live near an airport where Delta is the main international carrier. Prior to Covid, I used to fly them in Delta One quite frequently to Asia where Business class was only $2300-$3200 roundtrip! Nowadays it is about 8k+++. For that service and with those amenities that you mention, this should be a crime to charge that amount! Prior to your video, I have been contemplating on flying Premium Select instead for my first Asian trip in years because of how much prices have gone up. But with Delta One being that shabby, how much more has PS declined post-Covid? Lastly, I do not agree that the partial door is a gimmick. It is not a complete visual barrier, I agree but it is at least a physical barrier. It prevents aisle traffic from invading your space when you are sleeping, and on occasion may also prevent the occasional glare from the TV from across the aisle.

I’m glad you enjoyed your time at my home airport of SLC. In regards to the long walk to concourse B, that is a frustration shared by many. However, once concourse B is expanded, they plan to make another tunnel to it right after security. They also plan to have a people mover take you across in the same tunnel. Hopefully that makes it easier to get to! Thanks for the review, sad to see that Delta dropped the ball.

I pretty much fly exclusively Delta and for the most part I think they are a fantastic airline, Alaska Airlines is also a great airline. I completely agree with this review. The food in Delta one has gone down the pan, I recently flew Delta One on this aircraft from Seattle to LHR, the staff were as usual very good but what stood out as a huge cut back was the food. Even pre ordering it was delivered wrong and on the return although they got the food right it was cold. Delta bring back the quality of first class food that you used to have, the filet of beef, fish, shrimp and seafood starters, hand made ice cream sundaesand the cheese board. For the price of Delta one on long haul, I think other airlines seem to be leaving you in the rear view mirror.

We recently (one month ago) did a DAL trip to Hawaii...ATL to HNL and return. The food served was truly inedible. I am a Delta Diamond and still believe they are the best US based airline. In the post-Covid era, I find they have been very slow getting their service standards back to pre-Covid levels, particularly the food offerings. They cut back more than other airlines and can’t seem to get their mojo back. From Houston, I use partners Air France or KLM, since Delta doesn’t fly direct to Europe. AF has better food, but very inconsistent service. KLM has very consistent service and great meal presentation, but food falls behind AF. Problem with KLM is they frequently change aircraft type, with the 777 and A330 seats not competitive. Point is all airlines brands have positives and negatives and Delta is no different. And have never been on a dirty Delta aircraft. I fly Delta at least once a month and always have gate to gate entertainment. Not surprised by the catering from Salt Lake since there is no competition Europe.

Personally I really enjoy Delta's domestic economy product as compared to United and American. Their Sky Clubs are just so good, too. I've also flown Delta One on the 757 between SFO and BOS and on the 767 from SFO-JFK. 2-2 on the 757 isn't that bad. Old 767 Delta One was garbage, glad they are retrofitting. Their premium product generally needs work as this video suggests.

Hello Paul - excellent video again and agree food was so poor and weak choice for a 10 hr flight especially that chicken bloody hell!!! I am flying American business to Raleigh and then onto Miami in December ready for a Christmas Caribbean cruise😀. I hope you will be able to reply and give me some advice. I have a 2 hr lay over and never had a connection before. I know will be customs checked at Raleigh but still not fully found out if I have to re check my suitcases in again at Raleigh and go through security again as say a new customer or is there some form of transit channel? Thank u Steve Musty

You will need to recheck your bags at your entry point to the US in Raleigh-Durham, yes. You will also need to reclear security; the US has no international transit channels at all. Good news is RDU is not too large an airport so this should be relatively painless!

Hi Paul, very interesting Vlog, I’m not a regular business traveller but have just done London to Kaohsiung via Hong Kong with Cathy Pacific, 777 out and A350 back with A330 on HK/Kaohsiung I thought the layouts were very good and service was excellent, I guess you have flown them and interested how you think they compare.

Paul, we talked about this last time. If I catch you flying Delta again, thinking "this time it will be okay" I'll get the Captain to prank you!

I fly Delta often and hold status with them, I’ve also flown on just about every single other company in the EU and the United States and I’m not sure what you were expecting here? This isn’t first class, Delta doesn’t have any such thing! It’s business class just like most other airlines are moving towards! From what I can see the crew were all very pleasant and welcoming to you and you were able to lay back with your feet up the whole flight! This is what you’re paying for in business and it’s why Delta is a fraction of the cost of the carriers in Europe that offer First class international! If you’re expecting that extreme level of service by all means go ahead and spend 10k+ on a single flight! For those of us who travel often for real jobs I assure you that most of us are quite happy with Delta!

I like how this answer is phrased as if you’re dealing with someone who hasn’t flown all the competition 😂 you don’t have to agree with it but if you look at this and say “well what else do you expect?” then you’re engaging in the tyranny of low expectations.

I am a Platinum Medallion with DL and I can't imagine paying what they ask for international D1. I would rather fly TAP's international business than Delta's, but Delta charges 2x-3x the price. I only ever fly DL international business when they do a flash skymiles sale because that's the only time you get value for your skymiles. Consider that on most route you'll get some crappy seats on a 767-300 or 330-200/300 on top of the rest. I think it only gets booked because DL has a lot of contracts with American businesses that do mostly domestic flying and just without thinking stick with DL for the international flights too.
