I’ve been looking at this Wolf & Grizzly Cook Set and I’m glad I found your review. It looks like a great idea on paper but in function it needs to go back to the drawing board. I just like cooking outside under a real flame/campfire and since I will be traveling in my van for 6-8mo I thought it would be great to have. But the price of this Cook Set has gone WAY up and even with 30% off it costs $280. I think I will stay with my induction stove (in van), Blackstone griddle and my little Coleman stove when I want to cook outside and find another cheaper route to be able to cook over a flame/campfire. Thanks for saving me time and A LOT of money!

There are a lot of portable fire grates available in the market and the one made by Wolf & Grizzly is really nice and well engineered but also more expensive than others, but I think worth it. They also make a fire box that fits with the grill so you don't need a big fire too cook.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It is always my goal to be candid about products when I review them and fair to the folks that certainly put in a lot of time and thought into creating all the great products we now have on the market. At the end of the day it is really about helping people decide where to spend their money and I would not feel right steering them in a direction I did not believe in.

I believe this is a good portable grill, it just needs a fire shield to keep all the heat from dissipating on the sides.

I really think the M1 grill set is a great piece of gear, and to a bit lesser extent the fire vault (could draw better I think) but the cookset just didn't ring my bell the same way the other items did. I am not saying it is bad but for the money I think there are other choices to consider.

Did you try to flip the grill over, and cook the eggs on the reverse side? That depression would hold the eggs in place. Eggs are finicky...I alwyas have a small non-stick with a non-plastic handle when I go out for eggiwegs, the new 'blue' pan, I forget the name, is excellent...just use a glove!!!! Cheers mate!

I didn't but I think that, if turned over there is nothing to keep it in the frame and you might knock it off easily when trying to turn the eggs.

I love American accents, no offense but we say Wolf as in Wolph...you say woof!!! The number of dialects and accents are nothing like in England where they change across the street, but accents in the US especially in the East Coast are numerous.

Yes we do vary a bit-and my upper Midwest has some interesting takes sometimes. I agree, England is full of different accents!

Great review, just a pity the product wasn't up to it... totally overpriced and fiddly. I'll stick with my Bushbox and cast iron skillet.

Yes, their cooking grate is so well designed but it almost seems this one could have taken a different path and been a bit more useful. The Bushbox (I use the Firebox) is a great tool
