Why im finally switching to digital fpv

After a month of real world testing im ready to make the switch to digital fpv, specifically the hdzero system. I love how its open source, The owner is in the community and they are implementing features we want. This is in stark contrast to a system like dji who constantly drops support for older products and forces you into whatever is newest most expensive version is.

I’m loving hdzero myself. Working on a new edit with it right now. FYI I’m getting that bug too where my vtx doesn’t transmit sometimes randomly. I’ve talked with people on the discord extensively about it. The only thing that works consistently is to just arm it. That’s right arm the drone and it will start transmitting. However don’t start your dvr until the vtx is transmitting otherwise it comes out unusable.

Nice choice I've been rocking hdzero for like 2 years. Check out Juniata County it's already got a national rc race track and very lax regulations and cheap real estate with lots of open land still. Exactly half way between Philly and Pittsburgh too

Best daily antenna combo for me has been two matchsticks omnis to get over my fat head and two stubbies on the side. Patch was the worst, but I have a bad habit of looking down while flying, basically pointing the patches at the ground.

You can get runcam falcon for $125 with camera when they go on sale which is fairly often. Ends up being cheaper for a 1.2w setup that is insane range when paired with the x2s but DJIs biggest drawback is the latency and goggles that lock you into a single system. If DJI went after latency numbers today and made their goggles with low latency input hdmi walksnail and hdzero would be a fart in wind by the next year. But that won't happen so for now I'm buying more hdzero gear.

LOL yeah. I'm going the other way. I started with O3, then a Vista, and now I'm playing in Analog so I don't have to pay the $230 fee for ALL my quads (such as whoops-- O3 on my Mobula8 is about pushing it for whoop-esque, I think, but I really enjoy flying it). I actually don't mind analog as much as I thought I would... but that O3 video is pure joy to fly.

Well Mr. Botgrinder, I'm stoked to hear what you said here. This is good news for an old analog guy. I worked pretty hard to get my analog the very best it could be and refused to change. Can't stand DJI and not impressed with much else. I fear the HDzero VTX gets pretty hot really quick, when trying to rip on a hot Ohio day will proof it.. I’m in Texas and haven’t had any issues with flying mine in the 100 degree heat. Ask the Houston crew they push the stuff pretty hard in the heat too

Damn I need those feet. I have such bad luck with breaking motors. You definitely have me reconsidering my DJI investment. I started with them but now that I have tiny whoops I can't stand the giant bdi adapter hanging on the already giant goggles. These goggles seem like the best of both worlds.

only time i got range issues with HDZero and when the video doesnt connect instantly is when something is wrong with a antenna... usually the ufl connector is broken or the head is cracked, switch it out and instant video and shit. Sometimes i just have to recycle power too. dont know but i dig it over analog. you can see all the branches and the snow aint bad at all lol

I have been flying Hdzero analog and walksnail this past week and I have to say it is getting hard to fly analog after flying Hdzero and walksnail I have 6 on hdzero two on walksnail and 3 on analog I just don't know yet if I am going to change my 7" analog to walksnail I might because it's for mountain surfing. and the Hdzero goggles to me are the best

I know you fly with other people a lot. Before you make you decision fly with other pilots on DJI. They don't play nicely together and it get's really frustrating trying to get a pack in around DJI pilots without going full rainbow screen. I started digital with SharkByte and when I figured out I couldn't get packs in flying around my friends flying on DJI is when I gave in and just signed the deal with the DJI devil. Before you fully commit make sure you can fly with others comfortably. Just my suggestion. Hey if it works then you're good. Maybe they have learned to play nicely in the most recent versions of HD Zero.

i fly with people flying all systems all the time, dji will blow every other system out regardless because its not designed by fpv pilots for fpv pilots its designed by a company trying to make as much money as possible so when we fly in groups dji has to have their own special flight line so they can all fly together then we have a separate flight line for everyone else, its pretty fucking annoying but we love our homies so we make sure everyone can fly without getting blasted out of the sky by dji.

to update you just put the fw on an sd card and hit update in the menu. as far as the analog module im not sure what you mean by scan mode, if you mean channel scan then no you just set it to the matching vtx channel like normal.
