Ernesto, I too am a open proud Catholic gay man too. I know how hard it is to come out has a Catholic. And I too never told my dad that I was gay. He died before I could. But my mom told me when I told her that he knew and loved me any way, before he died. Have faith in yourself and your father. I learn that God is still moving the pieces to heal your heart and your relationship with your dad. (This happen in my life) you have Ulys. And hold his hand with love

I relate to your story Ernesto ! I am sure that my family knows but I don't feel the need to tell them outright because I'm not close with them and I don't want to hear 12,001 bible verses hurled at me. My friends are my family, those who I can talk to about damn near any and everything with and not get weird looks and/or shut down. I came out to my coworker this morning, I kind of just slipped in a guys name when we were talking about xyz earlier today. I felt comfortable and didn't bat an eyelash. Take your time, there's no rush. Also don't feel obligated to tell anyone anything. You're living your own happy life with Uly and you're on KZbin! You've already come out to everyone 🏳️‍🌈🤗👬🏻💞💝💘

Tears are the language that God understands, and he sees your tears. I never had the opportunity to tell my father or my mother for that matter, my sister outed me at my fathers funeral, I was extremely angry at the time but it was also very liberating, it was out there. I had the opportunity to see my mother a few weeks later, please keep in mind my mother is extremely religious. We spoke about how she felt, her response was “I knew, not for sure, but I heard people making comment and I put two and two together. I never ask you as I felt it was your place to tell me and that’s what hurt me the most, you didn’t”. I can’t say how you dad will take it, but doesn’t he deserve the right to be angry or happy and don’t you deserve the same right to move on. My mother still refers to my husband of 20 plus years as my friend when she meets her church friends.....lol lol....the things that’s funny they all know....lol lol. Coming out isn’t just about us it’s about allowing friends and family to share if they choose our true lives.

My son taught me with his coming out struggle that this such a difficult journey even with a supportive environment, that it might be impossible if you come from a family who is not as supportive. In the end, my son did not come out to his paternal grandparents (or his dad, whom he has not seen since he was 8), for the same reasons - a staunch Catholic family. You will come out when the moment is right, or perhaps not, if the moment is not right. Whatever your decision is, you will be okay, and you are loved, as is apparent in every video you and Uly make.

Ernesto what a kind soul you are! When the right time to come out to your Dad is felt you will do it, until then don't stress over it. Since you don't have a close relationship its probably not as important that you rush things. You are such an adireable couple be yourselves and be happy!

You have so much to be proud of, in your life. You are so right, that coming out is in stages. And quite honestly it does not always go so well. It took years, for me to finally just let go, emotionally, certain siblings. After being out for almost 30 years and still was still feeling like the black sheep of the family. Hang in there, Babe! I know how hard coming out can be when you are aware those who need to know may not be accepting - especially family. I've been estranged from my family for nearly 30 yearrs now. I've learned to develop my own family - those who love me no matter what, even if they aren't "blood relations". You already have a good start in that direction. Just know that you are loved, no matter what, by the people who really matter.

This hit me close to the mark, my parents are very accepting of my sexuality thankfully, (mom&dad) but the rest of my family including my younger siblings have no idea...... and my parents won’t allow me to even mention it, it sucks because I have friends that I’m scared to come out to because of the fact that they might not want to be my friend anymore, it’s a struggle. But everyday I learn that the people who truly care about you wouldn’t look at your sexuality as a defined of you, they see sexuality as a small part of what makes you, you. 🙂 while generally I’m open to the random person it just sucks that the people I hold dear to me are completely clueless, and it only reminds me whenever they ask about a girlfriend or kids.

Ernesto I think he knows but it's just an unspoken subject he doesn't know how or when to acknowledge it ...your parents are divorced ? Are you trying to keep a connection with your father and being str8 is the thread that keeps you connected to him ? Since a face to face seems to be out of the picture for you it might be easier for you to friend him on say Facebook ...it'll give him time to process what he sees...give him some time before contacting him ...the alternative is to maintain the status quo ..have you thought about just bringing Uly with you ? That would be telling him without words another less forthright method of coming out

Ok your dad doesn't know ? Are you sure ? Maybe he just doesn't speak about it...maybe he is waiting for you to say something ...that happens a lot ...most of the time people know unless you're some jock that has a stable of women ...you apparently still want your dad's acceptance and approval which is why you haven't told him ...sometimes having somebody spill the beans for you is a way that gives both parties the space needed to process without the feeling of confrontation ...since this is a year old video you might have already told your dad ...
