I believe weddings should take place at the place you grew up, the place of your roots like your parent's or grandparent's home. In my case, my fiancee and I were in New York but went back to India to marry. Nothing beats the old Indian temple, the priest we knew growing up, etc. Marriages are more than an event/or a party. I'm from Europe and I don't understand how you can want to exchange the Indian splendor for... the winter gloom in Europe. I don't know if you know this, but these months are dark and cold in Europe. What's more, it's... raining. No, there has been no snow for years because global warming is true and it is visible in Europe. Not to mention how small and expensive everything is here. For the same money you can have a wedding worthy of a Maharaja if anyone wants it.

@@Leon_ch3 you are talking about it now, seeing the weather outside the window (cold, dark and raining) and taking into account the protests and riots in Europe? In fact, the country where I live is idyllic. However, it is cold and dark and there is no snow yet. People romanticize places in Europe. The example is how the photos show the Eiffel Tower vs. reality. It's tight in Europe. I understand the direction of Mexico. I don't understand London in November. Maybe because I like warmth? Fortunately, everyone can decide for themselves, and express their opinion. It's great that no one is arguing here and there is no aggression between commenters. So unique on the internet 😊

Many Indian temples, particularly in the South, are ideal places to have one's wedding. Cheaper, serene and cleaner than so called wedding halls.Wedding being a sacred event signifying the union of two souls, it is best to celebrate in sacred surroundings. Have a simple ceremony, mass feed the less fortunate and later have a grand party for relatives and friends. ( ours was in Tirupathi in 1970). It is a pity our folks don't see the beauty in their own backyard. I say the same with Indian movie makers rushing off to foreign locales instead of showing off local beautiful places that may promote tourism. RBI should deny foreign exchange to these guys, if necessary.

If having a happy wedding is by having a big fat wedding then I would agree with expensive wedding but India being a poor country why spent so unnecessarily when it does not guarantee a happy marriage but a lot of corruption so as to be able to afford a big fat wedding and no wonder in India we have so much corruption because they want to compete... The wedding in India is a facade and when will Indians wake up from their slumber...I'm an Indian who believe in having a simple but meaningful happy family instead of trying to keep up with the Jones....with so much money spent on weddings they could have easily given to the newly married couple to start their family especially for those who are from not so rich family background, I'm not talking about the stinking rich businessmen who wants to flaunts their riches but those who hold government jobs because I think there's a lot of corruption going on because they want to compete with the affluent family .....

India's wedding season, which takes place over a three-week period between late November and mid-December, is expected to generate over $50 billion in business this year. Close to four million weddings will be held in the country, with destination weddings becoming increasingly popular among the rich and famous. The trend has been such that the Indian Ministry of Tourism has launched a campaign to promote weddings in India, and Prime Minister Modi has questioned the need for Indians to travel abroad for weddings. High-end weddings can cost between $1m and $5m, with hotel bookings for guests over two days alone costing up to $600,000. India has over 790,000 high net worth individuals and 161 billionaires. Rajasthan, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu remain popular Indian destinations for weddings, with picturesque mountains, serene beaches, and historical palaces among the attractions. Despite the growing demand for foreign destination weddings, India remains a viable option for couples seeking a grand and luxurious celebration.

@@shiningstone6771 Your suggestion does not resonate clearly with my intent. I am not a staunch supporter of any party, yet I concur that Mr. Modi, as the Prime Minister of India, was not erroneous in his plea to the affluent families to host their nuptial ceremonies within the sequestered confines of the nation. The voluntary nature of his plea averted the potential perception of undue imposition, exemplifying judicious and discerning restraint It is noteworthy that familial prerogative prevails in the determination of venues, an ethos dictated by individual autonomy. Intriguingly, there exist a few countries clean wherein the allure and hygiene of locales render the aggregate expenditure comparably favourable. Furthermore, a whole lot of kids in India have a strong penchant of pursuing matrimonial, educational, or residential endeavors abroad. The imperative encapsulated in the term 'must', as crafted by the other person, is a bit condescending, as such mandates find no global precedent, save for the case of North Korea.

It is a catharasis thing, for too long indians didnt have noney and saw the westerners spend while dreaming to be in a position to spend like that. When they did get money they just cant help but show off that we have arrived and are an equal. That money should be spent within india though.Make it difficult to obtain licences to marry abroad, this will deter most of them, plus publicise grand weddings on social media and involving the state tourism industry to propogate that destination weddings can be grand within india. If need be call forwigners too to india to participate in the weddings and fulfil the rich peoples desire to show off to the westerners. They are human and vanity is part of that nature so that is that. Nothing more, nothing less.

You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. 1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
