Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on nostalgia and why it’s truly important to live intentionally and present. This is something I struggle with, to be honest, but the older I get the more I want to do my best to live intentionally. I hope that you all feel loved, friends!

This video from the beginning, had me tearing up and filled my heart with so much happiness. I live 4,000 miles away from my family, while raising two littles. So many different holidays, I find myself wishing for days gone by. I find myself trying to make each holiday special, yet I find myself judging and finding lacking compared to what I grew up with. You made so many great points, that I felt like you where speaking right to me. Thank you for this video, for sharing your family with us and for being so honest. Wishing you many blessings and happiness!

I'm 55 now and I too have many memories of cousins, uncles and aunts gathering around my nans kitchen table. I saw her almost every day as a child. People would pop in and out every day. The.kettle was always on and always a cake of some sort to be found. I have mastered making a couple of the ones my nan used to make. I can conjure up the smells and memories at will but it's never the same. Many of my relatives have gone too, some too young. Some moved away. My nan and grandad held the whole family together. That's how it used to be. Now it's fractured. I too have tried to make memories like mine for my own children. Hopefully I have. Your video made me miss times past but also made me grateful that they were had. Hopefully one day I will have a grandchild or 2 and create some memories for them too. Have a lovely week and keep passing on those memories xx

I was not able to give my kids that experience but like you said, the things that we do now are creating our own memories. Seeing your whole sweet family at your tea party was really really lovely. Thank you for such a sweet video.

Oh Kristina, this made me smile and cry so much. I live far away from all my family and I certainly miss that immediacy. I live in my husband's hometown and even his sister has moved away with our only niece. So we squeeze our chances to ve with them, but also make the time we spend by ourselves the best we can. Happy Valentine's day and thank you!

Is it just me, or is everyone moving everywhere? I moved for reasons of health, and when I went to tell others I was moving, a lot of my family had, or was about to, move.... Crazy! I wish I lived close to you; I'd come to your tea party😊 Sounds so cute💗 Thank you for sharing with us. I didn't grow up close to anyone, as I grew up military (and other complications). Thank you for trying to do this for your kids, even if things don't work the way you want. It makes a difference that you try😊👍

Absolutely beautiful; i don't have a close family, nor cousins to spend time with since they all live either too far away, or just not interested in spending time as a family. This has inspired me to make special little dates with my daughter and mother, you've also inspired me to try my hand at making a strawberry pie this year; cakes have been my strong suit but pies i couldn't get my pie crust light and flakey 😆, so I'm definitely gonna make more fruit pies for spring n summer.

My truck for good pie crust is using half shortening and half butter! I do 2 cups of flour, a quarter teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup shortening and 1/3 cup butter. And then probably about 6 tablespoons of cold water. Best crust ever!

Absolutely beautiful as always Kristina, being an adult and having these realisations that our family are not close by and things have changed can be difficult to process and come to terms with, you're so right. I grew up with many cousins and lovely experiences too, full and rich Christmas's ,Easter's, birthdays and camping in the mountains for new years and riding our bikes with cousins and picking blackberries. It took me a little while to come to terms that my children won't have those memories because we live a long way from both sides of the family too, so we are like you creating our own magic for our children ✨ You are such an inspiring bird and touch many with your insights and real life memoirs😊 Happy V day!☺️x

I always love your videos, Kristina, but I've especially enjoyed the last few! This one was so thoughtful and genuine......I can't even put into words how much it touched my heart! Creating new traditions can be challenging as we grieve for the traditions of old. And, as you did, sometimes you re-create the nostalgia in a new way or you just create a brand new tradition altogether. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us........ the gorgeous table and dishes, the delicious treats, the happy children helping you and then enjoying the treats and, most of all, the sincerity and love! P.S. I love, love, love, your measuring cups!!!!

Then you need to reach out to her. I know you might feel that because you're older, she should reach out to you but life doesn't work out like that. Also you may have inadvertently said something that made her think you were busy so she may be trying not to bother you.

Love this video and all you slow living content. I love any reason to bring out all the fancy things. I totally get the struggle over changes with the people with whom you are close. My two closest friends have moved out of state in the last couple years. I have a tiny family, with only 2 people nearby. I've tried to focus on the things that bring me joy in my little world, like making my garden beautiful, my animals, and cooking. I tell people I'm living a hobbit life until our world gets more normal. 💖💗💖

I have that exact same cookbook i inherited from my grandmother and I love it. I moved away from home right before Covid and it's been hard. Then last week my eldest son passed away and I just don't feel like it's Valentine's day. I will make myself celebrate because I still have one child who lives at home who is younger and I know that my eldest would expect me to build a new reality. I talked about just what you are discussing with my Mother and Grandfather this weekend. My childhood was very much like yours and I expected that it would always be the same for my children and for the most part it was for my older children but after having my last child I had to change my expectations about how he would grow up since he was 13 years younger than the youngest of the other children. In fact my daughter and I have raised him with her children when we lived closer together.
