Concussions are scary. I am a counselor, and I used to treat a guy who had CTE and struggled with drug use. He had a football concussion. He was caught in a loop. He'd blame his family for his drug use. Id almost have him out of that rationalizion, it took months of hard work, and his CTE would reset him in some way. It would be like we did no work at all, right back to square one. Hed go on blaming his family for his drug use and forget the work we did. That last part is what made him different from the other clients. I believe he will stay stuck in that loop for the rest of his life, and its quite sad.

The scariest part about concussions imo is when a guy seems fully coherent afterwards, but isn’t actually there mentally. As a hockey fan we see it semi-frequently, a guy will take a big hit, go out for a second and then try to stand up and skate back to the bench, fall over and can’t find their balance, not a pretty sight.
