My prediction for Natlan, before I watch the video: it's an inversion of Fontaine's problem, where the god was frivolous and acting mighty and assured of the oncoming doom. Thus in Natlan it's the opposite: the Prio Archon isn't doing anything to stop the oncoming or inevitable doom of the people, and the people want to deal with the problem but can't because of their god I use this as a loose prediction, based off Mondstadt and Liyue being opposites of each other, and Inazuma and Sumeru also being opposites of the problem they faced

@@DrCocofruit I think another way to look at it is this: in Fontaine the Archon sacrifices herself for the sake of the people, while in Natlan the Archon is either absorbing the strength of the losers that "burn to ash" or feeding that power to something else. Like pieces of wood being fed to a flame. Would explain the seemingly ritualistic nature of war for Natlan people. Assuming any of this is valid, then these tournaments are basically the same as the trials in Fontaine: a way to generate energy to do... something. I don't think it's because the Archon doesn't care necessarily, but we just don't know enough at this point tbh.

my crack theory is that Traveler will win this "tournament" and learn the secret from the archon or even Xbalanque himself thus holding the pyro gnosis (but not becoming an archon themselves). Did you know in history they had a practice called, Ixiptla? Where they'll choose a person, captive, or volunteer to impersonate a deity. don't believe leaks, especially for the story. The only emissary who could possibly come is the Sustainer and she's too weakened since Khaen'rhia to descent and punish the rebellion of the Archons. And it seems it will be us who ascend to meet her at the end of the story (don't forget the Statue Anemo qui has "Gateway to Celestia" write over it). Xbalanque won't fighting because he's probably sealed (the six fireball in the trailer) and the motivation of that tournament would be to deliver him et giving back his Authority maybe?

@@capriciaelcid4743 that six fireball is a representation of the six tribes, also im pretty sure that the sustainer isnt the only god that resides in celestia as vanessa (ascended for overthrowing mondstat’s old tyrrany) somewhat was invited there though her fate isnt known, im going to assume that celestia has one ruler and those that work under her. I also rewatched the trailer, and one of the quotes ‘and when the god of war shares these secrets with the traveler, it is because she has her reasons’, i’d like to assume that this type of secret isnt something a mere mortal would be told. maybe that secret is that an emissary from celestia, and this tournament is being held to see who can really fight against it

@@makaion the six fireball could be both, a représentation of the six tribes and six seals for the Dragon Sovereign. This is pretty common in animanga/rpg. Yes, Susty is not the only one god, but maybe the others Shades can be also weakened/dead. Istaroth is the only one still active. I take everything Dainsleif say with a big big grain of salt. He's unreliable, his last quest proved his memories who already are full of holes can be rewrite and manipulate. XD The only thing sure is the Pyro Archon will reveal us some truth about the world and maybe give us the Pyro Gnosis.

I love how Neuvillette said that Capitano has thrown his hat into the endless ring of war but the only ring we know of is that tournament which doesn’t sound like endless war to me. Natlan unironically seems more like somewhere where you can have a relaxing vacation. Imma guess the tournament happens to appease some elemental baddie. Current Natlan citizens don't want to compete and want to be able to finally leave Natlan. Capitaino wants a flame strong enough to turn Irminsul into kindling. Irminsul goes up in flames, Loom of Fate kicks in, and we discover Teyvat is going through samsara cycles every since the Cataclysm. Teyvat was almost thoroughly destroyed and the HP have been sleeping to sustain the world and it's people in a FFX fashion.

Varka isn't in Natlan though. According to his letter during the Weinlesefest festival, Varka and his troops are in the Northermost reaches of Teyvat. Meaning he could be near or in Snezhnaya. Natlan meanwhile is located in the West of Teyvat. He just stated in his letter that Capitano is heading towards Natlan. Not that they are in Natlan themselves.

He mentioned that: - Capitano wasn't hostile to them and some of his action have helped them there - Capitano can kill a ruin guard using Klee's crayons (John Wick reference) - Varka implied that he could probably take on Capitano in a fight
