The thing about fragrance- you can enjoy it in many ways: shampoo and other hair products, perfumes and antiperspirants. But my opinion -it doesn’t belong in skincare. Many of us love nice smelling products, we just can’t use it on our face, but everyone can use fragrance free skincare.

Dr Alexis Stepehens talked about Eucerin anti-pigment and Thiamidol many months ago on her channel so I got it for my mom who is dark skinned and had developed really bad melasma. Almost like a dark mask. her derm prescribed a cream that did nothing. I agree, it does have a strong scent BUT it has worked for her. She uses the suncreen 1x day and serum 2x per day. After about 4 months its almost completely gone. For her it's worrth the scent.

It says “light aloe Vera scent” but it just smells like chemicals. It’s super unpleasant when you’re trying to wind down for bed and the smell is lingering so close to your nose. I stopped using hydroquinone for good after I tried Thiamidol, about two years ago. It is less irritating and I see the same effects or better on my melasma. I tried to find alternatives without fragrance and then just gave up. I use the Eucerin products, which I agree are horrible, or the Nivea one. The Nivea is less irritating and more elegantly formulated, although it still does have fragrance. It seems to have the same effectiveness as the Eucerin. Regarding the Eucerin Anti-Pigment products, some of them burn when applied topically. Some take too much time to absorb. The scent is overpowering. The sunscreen is horrible. The night cream is the most tolerable. Anyhow, they work miracles on melasma and they can be found in any supermarket around here (Europe) at an affortable price. Daily sun protection is the first principle. I have learned to hit the melanocytes from different angles, therefore, I use Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide, a Retinol serum and an Azalaic Acid cream. Seems like a lot, but I rotate the products. Works for me, but I am always open to new ingredients. I think I may look at Nivea Luminous 360, but am not in a hurry. Thanks for this info Dr. Dray.

Same. I’m a Fitzpatrick 2-3 and use every ingredient under the sun - currently tretinoin, azelaic acid, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, transexamic acid, licorice root, glutathione, etc mostly people focus on targeting tyrosinase inhibitors which includes many of the above ingredients. not many people focus on dopaquinone to melanin conversion pathways - which there’s only gluthanione and cysteine. niacinamide works great for melanosome transfer pathways. i’ve tried hydroquinone before - maybe it was the product formula but i didn’t like it too much

You use that serum at night; it’s thick, creamy, fragrant if you’re ok with it, and it does a marvelous job tackling spots and dryness also. In the morning, you wake up to a luxurious supple soft and even skin. I understand if fragrance can be too much, but please don’t dismiss the great benefits of the serum due to a fragrance that will last literally for 2 minutes. Use it at night only. It works!

The Eucerine anti-pigment line has been a holy grail for my melasma-prone skin. I had tried many other things -- different products with kojic acid, topical tranexamic acid, various lasers, hydroquinone -- nothing worked or barely made a difference (hydroquinone actually made my melasma worse when it was time to take a break). On the other hand, just a few weeks of Eucerine's thiamidol (I'm using all 3 products that Dr. Dray mentions in the video -- dual serum, night cream, and day cream), and my melasma was and still is 85-90% gone! I can even afford going under the sun once in a while (not too aggressively, though), because the Eucerine then takes care of my skin :) The scent hasn't been an issue for me at all. It is noticeable, but definitely not horrible and wears off pretty quickly. The one thing that folks might find irritating is how oily the day cream is (but i think most spf creams are). I just let the cream stay on my skin for a few minutes, then put tinted EltaMD spf on top (the tinted spf glides very well as the 2nd layer after Eucerine), let both layers sit on my skin for a while longer until i am ready to get out of the door; then i just blot the extra grease with a paper towel and/or oil absorbing sheets. Perfect!

I am watching from Egypt but never heard of the Bobai product before. Looks like it is fairly inexpensive so maybe I will try it out and see! I do like both of the Nivea and the Eucerin products in terms of effectiveness, agree that the fragrance is offputting though but it does not matter when spot treating IMO.

Excellent choice to move your chair to the left to avoid the window 👍🏽 The pink pillow adds a nice spot of color. Two more suggestions: Move slightly to the right to cut out the door 🚪 on the left. And, I still think the shot could benefit from adding a kitchen curtain over the window (but on the exterior, not interior). Buy a short kitchen curtain of linen and subtle color.

You are right about the door. But can't find a window. Pink pillow does something. Amazing how much this pop of colour brings to any decor.

There's actually ONE Eucerin Thiamidol product that I've found that is without fragrance! It's a spot corrector! I picked it off the shelf of a Malaysian drugstore.

Hi Jackie! Happy Monday!! I hope you had a beautiful day and that you are well. I had a busy day. We had a Siberian Husky named Atilla, a Golden Retriever named Sugar and a Labrador Retriever named Bloomer in today to name a few. Also a beautiful Siamese kitty named Mermaleen. Lol! We rarely see Siamese cats so to see two within a few weeks is unusual. Drove home in a thunderstorm. Couldn't tell you the last time that happened. I love watching the lightening from the safety of my car. By the time I got close to home I could see we didn't get a drop of rain. I sure would love to have tea with you, my dear, sweet friend. Let's call the kitties, put our feet up and be thankful for all the lovely things God has given us. Give Miss Fancy Pants a cuddle from me. Have a wonderful evening and have sweet dreams. Peace, joy and many blessings to you always. 💕🕊💕🙏💕☕🐈☕🐈💕🍃💐💕

I have been using this product for a year now and I have great results. I have slightly darker skin, and got a lot of hyperpigmentation during pregnancy, but I am using it with vitamin c and retinol in my routine. People actually remark how my skin looks so much better. But that is true french/european skincare products are very smell rich, but I am used to it :)

Dr Dray… I love your videos and how informative it is. Your videos has always helped me understand skincare immensely better. Please do a review on Numbuzin No-5+ Vitamin Concentrated serum for dark spot and PIH treatment. The ingredient list seems so promising and yet I have not seen any dermatologist youtuber reviewing it. The serum is comparatively cheap and I just dont understand where’s the catch.

Yes, Bobai is an Egyptian brand, it's great and reduces pigmentation. But for me it increased sweating around my mouth area, but I think it's due to climate in Egypt in summer. So I keep using it on my hands. May be in winter it would be perfect for my face.

This is also the ingredient they use in the Nivea Luminous 630 range (the patented name they gave to this molecule, with Nivea also being owned by Beiersdorf). Much more affordable than Eucerin, a lot of people are reporting very promising results. Don't know if you can get it there in the U.S., I bought their eye cream a few days ago, as they - drum roll - are marketing the same ingredient also to fade dark circles caused by hyperpigmentation. They promise visible results in 4 weeks. Been using it just for a few days, we'll see...!

I used the Eucerin product against dark spots on my cheeks due to sun exposure, and it reduced them by 90%. I only used it at night and daily sunscreen. I didn'tt combine the Thiamidol product with any other antipigmentant, to test its effectiveness. It's the only product that has worked for me. After 2 months of using it, I started to notice a difference. I bought and used it over a year ago. With the sunscreen application, new spots haven't appeared on my face. I highly recommend it.

I’m from Argentina. I’ve been using the Nivea line for about a year now and have been loving it! I had a bit of melasma on my upper lip and now it’s gone! I also use niacinamide and azelaic acid also extremely cautious about sun exposure. I also hate fragrance in my skincare but this one isn’t that bad and doesn’t irritate me 👍🏻 and for the price against the eucerin products is a win!

I’ve been waiting for your video on thiamidol! I started using Nivea Luminous 630 serum WITH 5% cysteamine cream while taking an extended break from hydroquinone. They might have helped a little, but even the two-punch combo of cysteamine with thiamidol was nowhere near as effective as hydroquinone alone. Within a month, I could see that the melasma patches that hydroquinone kept at bay had started creeping back. (Mind you, this was in the dead of winter, with minimal sun exposure, and extremely diligent SPF application.) Plus, I hated using cysteamine (it stinks to high hell and then you have to wash it off after >15 min) and thiamidol had to be applied at least twice a day, whereas hydroquinone was an easy once-daily application. I was lucky enough to find a local derm who has affordable packages for pico toning, so I’ve been doing that instead while taking a break from hydroquinone. Unfortunately, for my skin woes, it seems that the only effective topical treatment thus far is hydroquinone.

I’m medium tan skin asian living in tropical country and had tried cyspera, pico laser, hydroquinone to remove my PIH none of them work and gave side effects , i don’t have melasma.. but the only thing that work are eucerin thiamidol it faded my PIH that i had for 5 years… and everyone notice how glowing my skin is best part it doesn’t irritates my skin at all, i am acne prone so i buy the one with sebum control

I've been using Eurcerin dual serum and the anti-pigment day cream SPF30 for a couple of weeks. So far, my skin is looking good. It's too soon to tell how effective it will be on darker patches of skin. I think it smells fine.

The eucerine acne prone cleanser also has been a game changer for me. I’ve tried SO MANY cleansers and al of those made me break out or stripped my skin ALOT. but a few weeks on the eucerine cleanser BAM results. I’ve been using for over a year now and I won’t let go of it.

Thank yooou! Waited a long time for this video! I have used eucerin’s night cream only, so not twice a day. Did see possibly some mild improvement of dark spots… its hard to know for sure as I use other products for hyperpigmentation as well. I did switch to melasyl around 3 months ago and maybe it is a bit more effective for me? All very anecdotal.. thanks again

I wish I could try it, but I also can't handle most scented skincare. If it doesn't smell too strong to use, it will still most likely irritate my overly sensitive skin. Most brands obviously don't have their teams watching content creators who aren't already giving their products good feedback

I bought the Eucerin pigment control Sun serum in Nice, France when I stopped there on my cruise last month. I haven’t used it yet but when I saw your video, I quickly pulled out the product and it has Thiamidol in it. Thanks for talking about this ingredient. I may just use this on my back where I have hyperpigmentation from a rash. Don’t want to irritate my face.
@219720121455253 ай бұрын
She's not saying it irritated her face. She's saying there is the potential for irritancy but more than anything the fragrance was too strong for her

i have freckles and used the eucerin anti pigment cream at night time consistently from decemeber to june and I saw no change at all to the pigmentatoin or other improvement to other spots. the scent doesnt bother me at all and didnt irritate my skin.

im fitzpatrick 3 to 4 (so light skin hispanic) I also used tretinoin and AHA with it. I am noticing more of a difference in the PCA pigment gel in the one month of using it than this product. however of course it could have had an impact. If you wanted to try the Eucerin pigment cream I would say its safe to use everyday with other products as well as two times a day.

I was really excited to use the anti pigment night cream but couldn’t use it because the fragrance is STRONG. I used it one night, and the next morning I woke up with a headache and my eyes were swollen. I have melasma from my pregnancy a few years ago. I typically like Eucerin products so I was hopeful-more like nopeful with a full bottle that I use on my elbows.
